    Hello:

If you are in a hurry and want to install W7 before your recovery disks are shipped to you, you can download the version of windows 7, which has been installed on your PC and is indicated on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC.  For example, if windows 7 Pro came with your laptop and is indicated on your COA sticker, you can download the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of windows 7 Pro in language comes with your PC, and use the 25-character product key on your COA to activate the software.

You must use the language of the operating system that comes originally installed on the PC or the product key will not work.

You will need a program capable of burning ISO to DVD files, burning, so that the DVD is bootable DVD.

Then just go to the support for your laptop and driver page to download and install the drivers you need.

Link to all versions of W7. These are real files to Microsoft.

  • I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did. These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?

My computer came with Windows 7.  Recently, my hard drive failed.  I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did.  These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?

    YES!

I just did mine 01/01/2016, installed a new WD 500 GB HDD black on my laptop ASUS K52F, took my DVD 4 restore disks and restored to Win 7 Home Premium, more 10 Windows, which is sitting on my old HDD in the trash. I'll stick with my Original OEM OS and never improve to WIN 10 times.

NOTE: The only time the restore disks do not work is when you replace your motherboard.

  • Envy TouchSmart 15-j009wm: rupture disc, how do I reinstall it on the new drive

Hi, I have an envy TouchSmart 15 who seems to have a bad drive (abbreviated DST check failure RGDUHF-71G7JL-MFGJWK-60UJ03) and while I can start Windows and log in, leave that I can't do anything else than move the mouse pointer. I can't start the recovery program to create a recovery of that disk and boot repair/restore options to block all. I also run chkdsk on the drive when it is connected to a second computer (in a cage USB) and chkdsk reports no problem.

So, I bought a new disc and I wonder how to get Windows 8 on it. I also have a second, identical HP Envy that works very well and am wondering if I can create a USB key to recovery of this 2nd machine, 1st this USB boot machine and reinstall from scratch but I feel that the recovery media can only attempt to recover a drive that is already installed , but it won't do a complete reinstall.

The only option here is to buy the support of HP $50? If so, does on USB because I don't have a DVD player.

    Thank you.

OK, good news. It looks like using that laptop support for recovery of the fine 2nd envy on the 1st laptop and Windows 8 is now installed and working. I assume that the Windows product key is somehow associated with the MAC address or burned (and encrypted) in the BIOS.

  • I was referred to this site. Problems with installing Windows on the new drive.

    Greetings!

I just installed a new hard drive on my Mini 311 1037. I bought the HP recovery discs. The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (I guess it was the correct operating system for that computer). The installation seemed fine, but after installing the drivers, I get the message, "Windows Setup could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."  Then after the restart, after the initial windows screen, I get a message that says "Windows cannot complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, run the Setup again. "I atempted to iireinstall 3 times. All diagnostic tests are good: the hard drive, the memory. I have no idea what to do next. Help, please?

If you can read the Microsoft Windows 7 of 25-character license key, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD or USB flash drive. The version must match that's installed on your PC as shown on the sticker COST Microsoft fixed on the bottom of the laptop. Like Windows Home Premium.

Links to downloads of Windows 7 ISO files:

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to convert the ISO file you download. Link and instructions below. You need to a DVD + R or DVD - R. Or a flash drive 4 GB to use the USB method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool#installation

Use 25 characters on the COA key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then, go to the page support and driver to install the drivers you need.

  • Satellite C660 - how to install Windows on the new drive?

I have an old C660 of 14 months (2 months warranty!) and the HARD drive died quite suddenly.

    * 3 days works great
    * 2 days, got stuck at the "starting Windows".
    * Tried to fix with a System Repair (DVD) boot disk, but could not solve the problem (ran all night)
    * Start of DVD today and now the prompt of commands, each command "dir" on c: takes 20 seconds and try to copy files gives IO error.

I'm going to buy a new HARD drive and install, but is there a way to get Windows 7 on the drive?
There is no Windows disk supplied with the notebook... THERE is a recovery partition, but it died too.

I don't want to buy a new copy of Windows when I already have a license.

(I never have a backup complete incl. system, like the one and the only time that I tried to do that it was unable to complete the process, killing of many Virgin DVD-R in the process).
I have most of my personal files backed up.

    Thank you

The situation is quite clear. You don t have created the recovery disk and you have only two options now:
    (1) you can order the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install the original recovery image
    (2) you can get the original installation disc from Microsoft and install own OS

In the first case, check it please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0202TA0000R01.htm

If you take the decision to use option 2 Please note that your product key is useless and you have to pay for the new activation of license and the code. The sticker product key Microsoft belongs to the recovery image only.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • How to install windows on the new drive?

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-3080, which came with Windows7. Now, I bought a 120 GB SSD. I tried to install Windows on the SSD by selecting Factory Reset. However, I get the message that the size of the hard drive has changed and that's why I can't use Factory Reset.

Is there a way how can I use the Windows7 that came with my laptop and install this on my new drive!

To my knowledge, I am not break everything right since Windows7 came with the laptop and was part of the price I paid for the laptop.

    Kind regards

    Hello:

Partitions or recovery discs do not work on a smaller hard drive.

You need to install a simplified version of windows 7 on your SSD. You will not break the laws or rules of license by using the product key on the bottom of the PC to activate the installation.

However, if you can not read all 25 characters of the product key you are flat out of luck and will have to buy a new operating system.

Here's how to make your own simple Windows 7 installation disc if you have not already.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Inspiron 17R cannot install windows on the new drive

I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 with a dead 1 t HARD and the 32 GB SSD drive. The hard drive is a loss total and out of warranty, so I have to install Windows on a new hard drive.

I don't have a recovery disk so I install Windows 8.1 since an original DVD I ordered from Microsoft, some time ago.

My problem is that the laptop is not considered to be able to boot from the DVD. I get a message "No operation system Found."

I changed the startup list in the BIOS to first have the DVD. I tried f12 to choose the DVD to start but nothing works. I checked the disc in another computer and it's good.

I read something on the problems causing mSATA SSD and also on the Intel Rapid Storage is a problem.

Please help if you can, I need the laptop for school.

(Or fact) the DVD Player reads all other discs?

  • Install windows on the new drive

I replaced my hard drive as old one stopped working, I had windows 7 Home Edition premium on the old, can I install it on the new hard drive otherwise that having to buy it because it's come on the computer when I brought and I have no install disc or anything. Thank you

The original system would have a utility to create discs in particular that it was not provided with all, manufacturers were required to give one or another recovery option.

Some PC manufacturers can provide this set of diskettes of missing recovery, but at a cost. If the COA label is readable, it should be possible to download the ISO installation to match the version that is named on the label.

  • Have to RMA my drive hard current (customized computer). Options for windows on the new drive?

Hi everyone, I have my hard Western Digital RMA drive due to non repairable bad sectors. I currently have a version of windows upgrade 7 (I'm sure that my parents lost the activation key for > _ >) installed on the hard disk. Is it possible for me to transfer this Windows 7 nine hard disk? Or if I can't find the activation key to upgrade of version, can I install the previous version of windows 7 that I used before the upgrade, because I actually still have the product key for this copy. I wanted to understand this first before you begin the RMA process so I'm not stuck without an operating system once the replacement drive arrives. Thank you!

If you do not have a license, you will need to buy a new one.

If the license you say that you have is a retail license and did not come preinstalled on a computer or is not a version upgrade, you can use it. They must be of the same edition.

  • Hard drive with recovery partition failed, how do I restore Windows on the new drive?

How can I get my sons pc working again?

Hard drive failed and restore vista on a partition on the disk.  No backups.  Replaced the hard drive but obviously not Vista.  I have the genuine key.  Can I download the trial or something then activate with the existing key?

Contact the manufacturer. They should provide you with recovery disks.

  • Try to load windows on the new drive, stuck at 'starting windows' screen

So I'm actually down ranking of windows 8 pro to windows 7 pro two 64. I was finally able to get the comp not recongize just load the USB. My problem is that when it does not start, I'm stuck at 'Starting windows' screen I was wondering, perhaps, that I need to format a patition first? It's a new Lenovo warranty hard drive. (Kind of funny how to send CD's for a laptop that doesn't have a cd player only) I looked in the formatting of a usb key, have had some difficulty in finding a reliable way... Thank you

    Hi davefromsb,

Windows 8 computers have a bios "UEFI" and so will come with "Secure Boot" as well as "UEFI" only start enabled. Disable secure boot if you do not have and choose start to the "legacy" methods The problem is most likely that the image of Windows 7 which has been engraved on the USB key was burned using an instead of a TPG one MBR partition scheme. I hope this helps.

  • How can I reinstall Windows on a new drive without starting from scratch?

I have XP installed on a FAT32 32 GB to a 160 GB HARD drive partition.  I ran out of the room into the partition and want to delete the partition, wipe the drive and start over with him as a single partition NTFS drive.  Is there a way to preserve XP installed by copying an image to another 160 GB drive installed in the machine, rather than starting from scratch? The same question would apply if I decide instead to upgrade to a larger HARD drive.  Thank you.

Because the FAT32 and NTFS file systems are different, you will need boot from scratch and do a "clean install" Windows XP
