  The D7100 requires at least Camera Raw 7.4, which again requires Photoshop CS6.

  The only way that you can work with these raw files in CS3 is to use the free DNG Converter to convert raw files to DNG, which can be read by CS3.

  This means you'll be missing out on new features and improved raw processing that have been added to the cab since CS3 was released.

  I recommend to make the most of your raw files, subscribing to the plan of creative photography of Cloud, which includes Photoshop and Lightroom for $10 per month.

  I'm having a similar problem as the person using CS4.    I know it's compatibility.

  I use iPhoto 9 (for storage and organization mainly) and Photoshop CS1 (Yes, the first CS).  It is easy to understand how to open RAW files in an external editor (PS) - just checking a few boxes in iPhoto preferences.

  The message I get when trying to open the RAW files is "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."

  My camera is a Nikon D3200.  The version of the Camera Raw plugin I have is 2.0.

  Search through this site, I've determined:

  (1) CS1 is compatible with the plug-in versions 2.0 to 2.4 raw

  (2) plug in minimum required for my D3200 is 7.1

  (3) the DNG Converter provides backward compatibility for free in PS CS2, etc..   Why not CS1?

  (4) but to use the DNG Converter, on one of the pages of the site, it says I need plugin 2.3 or later.

  (5) see #1.  That means, if I can find a copy of 2.3 plug-in (which would have been compatible with CS1), I can succeed this workflow?

  I can't afford to upgrade to a new version of PS - had no money.  How can I get a copy of the plugin 2.3?  How can I make my NEF files play nice with CS1?

  If you have downloaded and installed the mac version of the 2.4 camera raw in cs, then you also need the 7.4 dng converter to convert your

  Nikon D3200 files camera raw dng best, then you can open dng files in photoshop cs.

  You may need to use compatibility settings in the change preferences > compatibility in the dng converter so the DNG opens in photoshop cs.

  So you could experiment with a file or two before converting all files.

  My iMac is running OSX 10.5.8. I have CS3. I want to upgrade both. I mainly use InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat.

  I received messages from some programs that, basically, my system is obsolete. I think I need to improve before the upgrade CS, or individual programs of CS.

  So I looked into it a bit and ordered Snow Leopard. After installing that, I am told by Apple, I be able to upgrade my system.

  So, then I will be faced with the task of upgrading from CS3. I have not established what improvements are possible, or sage. I find it all a bit disconcerting. Can I switch to CS6? I'm under the impression CS3 files are not compatible with the CS6, would be with CS5, only with CS4. So I don't maintain compatibility for old books and other files, but CS6 (or CS5) will be more likely to date for new work.

  I don't use Illustrator. Can I upgrade InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat individually?

  Can someone suggest a good upgrade path in this situation? Or maybe wise questions for me to determine what to do?

  Buy an external drive. You can store your ML installation on it. You can also use this external hard drive to back up your drive.

  You will need to export to IDML to open in CS4. If you need it in CS3 you will need to open the IDML in CS4 and export to INX. You can open the INX file in CS3.

  I'm a programmer who works closely with the client flash designers.  Most of my client's staff have CS3.  I've recently updated to CS5 because of another contract that I'm working on a different client.  I'll be able to change my CS3 Designer .fla file, save and rely on them to complete the design?  Will they be able to open my document changed?  Sorry, this is my first use of Flash CS5.

  You will be able to open and edit the files, but you can only save them as files CS4, then you will not be able to return they canb work on format.  You should be able to always have your old version of Flash installed well even with the new.

  No, they are not... you have to actually download and install the DNG Converter (the current version is 5.6) and run the installer to install the DNG profiles and the DNG Converter. See the Adobe DNG Converter product page.

  I have cs3 Web Premium installed to work on XP Professional PC, and I had also installed it at home on my 64-bit Vista PC.  A few months ago I got a new labtop with Windows 7 64-bit on it.  I disabled the cs3 on my home Vista machine.  I have install on my new labtop.  It works very well for about 6 weeks. A few days ago I get a pop up message that there is a problem and I need to reinstall.  So I uninstall cs3... then I try to reinstall it.  It goes through the whole process, and then install only Acrobat and shared files.  I get the message that everything that I try to install failed.

  I'm lost as to what I should do at this point.  I would really not like it if I had to do a clean and restart BONES and all. Someone knows something similar? If so how the problem is solved?
