remote access MacMini... MOM help

Question: how to set up remote access to the computer of my mother, so that I can address any technical questions she has?

I have an iMac end 2013 with El Capitan 10.11.5.

My mother's computer is a mac mini upgraded to 8 MG of RAM and also with El Capitan (do not know if there were other updates since I was there last).

I would like to be able to connect to the remote computer in order to see its screen and be able to help in updates remotely.

I heard that El Capitan was the built-in ability, but I wanted to know how to put in place.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Try to set up remote access for Foscam babyphone. Windows Vista & I have A Westell router. I can't understand this helps :(

Im trying to set up remote access for a babyphone Foscam (Fl8918W). I worked on it all day.  No matter what I do, I can't get the camera to get on my computer (or iPhone).

Here's some of what I've done so far...

-Camera configuration and find the IP address

-Type the IP address of the camera in the browser and camera open (it uses Active X)

-Change Port number of the camera (Guide suggested using 2000)

-Now you can type the IP address and the port number in the browser and access camera

-Complete the Port forwarding on the router (I did this several times using each option that I could understand. Finally, I think that I did it correctly because it looked like he turned on - but I don't really know.  "I couldn't get any real information on the Port Forwarding for my Westell A90-750045-07).

-Access using the public IP address.  It did not work at all. I had to find my IP address for my computer/network (which I did) then open my browser and type the IP address followed by: 2000 (new port). The camera was then to open in the browser, but it did not work.

-IP service.  Management said that the device could be available over the internet using a public IP address. He told me to go on No - IP and sign up for the free service.  After the signing, I was directed to create a host name.  I managed to do it.

-L' direct access of the ACTIVE camera address No - IP.  I was directed to type my address No - IP (hostname) in my browser, followed by: and the Port number (: 2000). He said that I should then able to access my camera from a computer or mobile app on the Internet using this address.  This does not at all.

-J' tried to make it work with my iPhone. I was directed to download and install an application called Live Cams Pro - by Eggman Technologies.  He then ordered me to add a camera. I chose the correct model of Foscam, entered the IP address (or my No - IP address) WITHOUT port number, then on another line, I entered the Port number, entered my user name and password and click Save.  Nothing ever came and finally the connection times out.

I did all the change of option combinations in each stage as many times I could think.  All I could change in these steps, I tried all the options I could.  I can't make it work.

I'm so frustrated.  I'm not a computer person.  I managed to do a lot of things by reading the instructions carefully.  I read the Foscam Installation Guide and the next babyphones instruction manual (I bought the camera from the company).  Nothing I've tried works.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Did you put the IP cameras as a destination / local IP?
If this is not the case, do.

Aside from that, the best would be to contact the manufacturer of your router for assistance with how to correctly forward ports to your camera.

  • Sharing screen or remote access

Hi all.  I need some guidance on how to gain access to another Mac computer that is not on my wifi network.  My mom is a bit lost when it comes to computers and calls all the time asking questions about that or the other.  I wish I could help more, but I can't always do more in its place.  I assumed that she could do a screen with me sharing, but I did not understand that yet.  What is the best way to be able to see its screen and help her to?  I have a time machine from the airport, an Airrus SB6183 as my modem and an iMac or MBP to use.  It has an iMac.  Are our different ISP, my comcast, ATT hers.  If you could provide some info that would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Understand the Messages and screen sharing and test this or use some screen sharing service; Perhaps TeamViewer or an alternative, either commercial or potentially as free if the associated licenses allow your intended use.  It will be by far the best approach here.   Add the Messages application to connect and work through the sequence to accept or request required screen sharing.   Or for the

You're probably not going to use Apple Remote Desktop (this forum), because it is a commercial product and one that is overkill for this use.   Messages and screen sharing will be sufficient, or the built-in screen sharing client can be used to share the desktop.

Otherwise, remote access means to find a VPN and a VPN server and probably configure dynamic DNS to allow you to get the IP address of the remote site, and probably all operating in a gateway of firewall box you have acquired for the remote site.   Modems will probably have to be moved in their mode bridged, that leads them to the gap and allows your gateway box control liaison network without NAT clutter it.  ISPS are only material if they block the access of particular network involved, or do not allow the modem to be toggled in bridged mode.

  • Homekit remote access does not

    Hello.

I have a Schlage door sense block 100% functional when connected by bluetooth with my iphone (ios 10) either when I m with the sense or Homekit app it management.

The problem starts when I try to work remotely.

    Yes:

    (1) my 3rd generation Apple TV (Maj) is connected with the same iCloud account that I use in my other devices, including my iPhone

    (2) Apple TV shows as 'connected' when I check my hub within the Homekit app status

    (3) Apple TV is "always on."

    (4) I tried to connect a disconnect in icloud again several times.

    Need help please!

I chose this lock exclusively to access remote homekit.

    Thank you!

It seems that the fault is in schlage's recent firmware update.  They have posted the following on their web site about seven 18, 2016:

Some clients of Schlage sense suffered a loss of access remotely through the 3rd generation Apple TV after update of their lock to the version of the firmware 3.42.

We are aware of the problem and are working quickly to resolve.

  • alternatives to LogMeIn Pro for remote access?

Greetings.  Currently, we have systems in the United States, Switzerland and the Mexico that I supported via remote access using LogMeIn Pro.  We paid for a subscription before free LMI Pro has been abandoned even to appreciate the characteristics of LMI Pro.  But as LMI has eliminated this free service, it seems their subscription rate more than doubled each year.  We currently need remote access to 3 Macs and 2 units of Windows (ew).

Last year, we paid $174. for the annual subscription in support of these 5 systems.  I just checked on the price of renewal and it shows $349.00 for renewal.  This is getting too expensive!

Last year, I invested in ARD to support my mother MacBook and the MacBook from an old friend, rather than pay LMI for a subscription in support of these systems.  ARD was a good alternative for these systems, but it is not a realistic alternative to remote systems for charity I help support.  Partly because of the PC, also because what it requires port forwarding in the router and finally because I have to be at my computer to use ARD to access those other systems.  LMI offers the possibility to access systems through an iOS app and can be used by other members of the team of charity, anywhere in the world everyone is physically located.  That's why we have maintained the LMI Pro subscriptions for a number of years.

But with the perennial increase rate of LMI ridiculous (I think they can take their pricing of Obamacare), I'm on my eternal quest for an alternative to remote access.

    Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you very much for your review,

  • Back to my Mac drive remote access

I tried to set up my Time Capsule and the hard drive connected to it to be accessible on the internet via Back to My Mac. My Time Capsule is the main router and the modem to the ISP provided is in bridge mode. I followed the instructions of installation to the letter, but it still not connect when I try to on the internet. I tried to connect life iPhone tethering and friend home as well with no luck.

Tried to help out a little and when I go to the iCloud tab in system preferences, I get the following message on the CCMM: Back to My Mac can be slow because multiple devices on your network provides network services. Turn off NAT and DHCP on one of the devices and try again.

The problem is that NAT is enabled, my Time Capsule is set up for back to my Mac and I enabled sharing of files on it, as well as on WAN access records. I also tried the deactivation and activation CCMM on both Time Capsule and in settings iCloud, still the same error. My only goal is to be able to connect to the Time Capsule and access the files remotely.

    I hope someone can help.

    Thank you!

provided the ISP modem is in Bridge mode

It may or may not be, because ISPS generally have some strange ideas about what the term "Clipping" might mean.

What is the number and model of your modem?

If all goes well, it is a simple modem.. .with a single Ethernet port the device... as in the example just below, which is the type of device that you really need to be able to access on your network from the Internet devices.

I hope once again, it is not a type of modem/router or gateway device, which combines the functions of the modem router and separated in one package... as in the example below. Often, it is not possible to configure this type of law only as a simple modem device... and what the ISP calls 'Clipping'... is not really. Thus, you're left with a problem NAT which slows down and restricting remote access.

  • NB - remote access is not possible

I have a remote that gives me a secure access to the server from my employer, so I can work from home through my netbook.
However, I can connect to my place of work, but when I try to access the foldersand, click the icons I get a message that says: this action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

The remote access works without problem, when I use it with my AppleMac which is in the same room.
I'm not familiar with the PC, so do not how to solve this problem.

    Hi Monkey_1,

To be honest, this remote control software does not know about me, and I've never heard.

I think the best idea would be if you contact the local administrator of your company or the manufacturing of this software. Here he s a user to user form on Toshiba laptops and I doubt anyone can help you in this case.

Normally, such software will install the directors of the company and you must ask him about it!

    Good luck! :)

  • Remote access to Airport extreme

Remote access to the express airport using airport utility.

Can someone help me with a step by step to allow the possibility for me to access my gen 6 ae around outside my home network?  I know some say that this is not without danger.  I know that some people say that you are better to use for mac.  I don't have a Mac. I just want to access router and make changes, if necessary.  I was able to do it on my router lnksys without problem.  I just typed in my IP address and I have been a connection to my router. Since EI is not web interface, I guess I have to use my phone or the buffer using airport utility.

I don't think it's important, but I have a simple setup.  Modem (cox ISPS) connected directly to the router 6 ae. Random devices connected to ports gigabit ae.

    Thank you

Not what you want to hear, but unfortunately, AirPort Utility on an iPhone or iPad cannot do what you want, so cross that one of the list.

And... the utility AirPort older 5.x on a PC does not officially support the new AirPort Extreme 802.11ac... (what do you call a 6th Gen AirPort Extreme)... so I doubt that a PC would work in this case because Apple has not updated AirPort Utility for Windows since Windows 7.

If you can get your hands on a Mac running a current or recent operating system, that's the ticket... If you have a simple modem, AirPort Extreme is set up the router on your network and you know the public WAN IP address that receives the airport.

  • Remote access for PXI with DAQmx

I have a PXI chassis with a real-time embedded (PXI-8186) controller and some modules DAQ (PXI-6259) x 2. I've been programming this via LabWindows with a kind of client-server of RT - UI thing by using network variables and others. For some applications, it would be enough and more convenient to be able to interact with the PXI hardware directly from a connected PC network DAQ.

The controller running a VISA server, it seems that I could connect to a remote machine with a kind of viOpen ("visa://pxi.somewhere.com//PXI0::15:INSTR"); ") and then contact a particular data acquisition card. But I can't find any information on the programming of the 6259 in any way other than DAQmx or similar.

First question then: is the interface PXI - 6259 VISA described anywhere?

More practical would be to continue to use DAQmx, through something like DAQmxCreateDOChan (taskHandle,"pxi.somewhere.com//Dev1/port0/line0:4",...)

I found references to what we call 'Remote access appliance', for example:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/5CC9792C6CD4A34C862565BC0072D5DF

that seems to put in place something equivalent, but I don't find it to watch it in MAX:

Start-> all programs-> National Instruments-> NI - DAQ-> the remote device access server

and I've seen suggestions that maybe it isn't that for traditional DAQ or only pre 7.0, or in any other way was no longer applicable.

Second question: "Remote device access" are always and how to I install/activate it on my PXI controller?

Someone at - it clues as to the foregoing, or any other way to get the same kind of features?

    Thank you

    Mike Schacht

    LANL

    Hello Mike,.

Remote device access was a feature in NOR-DAQ traditional long just now.  This feature was not worn on OR-DAQmx because the framework it was built on does not really correspond with the need of modern times for network security.

Unfortunately, there is no functionality you describe by saying to DAQmx.  Currently, this type of control is limited to deploying applications to the target of RT.  While the VISA is used for some parts of the DAQmx interaction, these function calls are not documented.  Someone else on the forums may be able to help if they tried to implement something like this in the past.

    Good luck!

  • How to configure remote access on my system?

How do iget a friend or remote security access my cpu

    Hi Charles,

First of all, I think that you want them to be able to use Remote Desktop (not really remote access which is a little different) to connect to your computer and then work on your remote on their own computer as if yours was in front of them (with some minor limitations).

To allow your system receive the Remote Desktop connections (not all versions of Windows will - but most allow), see: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-networking/cant-remote-desktop-from-vista-home-premium/f6d87400-58a2-423c-86f3-5650a4e0b153.  This thread shows you how to do it in XP and Vista.  It is roughly the same as Vista to W7.

Then the person who wants to connect to you will need to send you a few items to be installed to work with the program they use for remote desktop.  It is typically logging in a web page and following the instructions you get on the phone (which they need to give you a code, usually) and then they can access.

Be VERY careful who you give it.  They can do almost anything once they are in control of your system.  While you can usually talk to them and usually can see what they are doing, it is possible for them to make downloads fast and such that you really don't want on your computer.  You can cut them with a click, but it is unclear what they can do in the meantime (depending on how they do it and how do I know that you're what happens).  I let my ISP and Dell use desktop remotely with me, but no one else never and only after I called them (and not if they called me) to make sure that I have about the right people and not crooks.  If it's a friend, make sure it's a really good who knows what he or she is doing.  With remote desktop, they can help you solve problems or completely flexible you.  You have allowed their past almost all your security protection when they are connected, so it isn't going to save you.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
