remote server configuration question

Hello

I have my web app works fine on a local apache/php/mysql server. but now I'm doing work on the remote server. so far, no luck. a few questions:
the connection to the base for my local server has a user id and password. can I use the same username and password for the mysql database remote?
I understand how to connect the db to the apache server locally (I use port 8080), but I don't understand how the apache finds the right mysql database on the remote server. do I have to use the db connection in the application of dw Panel and modify the connection settings somehow it can therefore be used for the remote server? I noticed that I get an error: the requested URL doglist.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 not found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument directive to manage demand.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.counselorone.com Port 80

Thanks in advance for all advice.

David and Gareth Murray.

Thanks for your help. The last piece was dense enough to me, but I got it. David, I know that you deal with in your book, but you could probably devote a special section, its that delicate. The nuts and bolts of what I've done is...
1. to develop my unconscious site at the remote server, including making local database connections. Because microsoft IIS stored in my own way, I changed the port of Apache on 8080. After reading David's comments, I think that its smarter to simply not bother to change the Apache port and manually turn off the IIS application. OR, you can go back once you have created the site and edit your config file Apache backwards to port 80, because you will need the localhost, not localhost: 8080 to connect to the remote server. To avoid pulling the hair, just to deal with the default configuration of apache on port 80.
2 hire a remote hosting company. I use the server range, although I have not been with them long enough to give a thumbs up or thumbs down.
3. put the local site on the remote server. I used public_html to store my files.
4. download the remote server to connect to the database. This last part seemed to require a few things, which were not obvious. Following the advice on this forum, I went to the remote site and note the username, password and database name. (these are NOT the same as my local site). I then copied/renamed my database on the local site to match with the prefix than the remote server has put on my remote database. For example my db was named test1 locally, but the server named wwwcoun_test1, so I renamed it which.
5. I tried to establish a connection to the database with the new names. It worked. my understanding is that everything we try to do here is set up the connections correctly. you're dealing with loading data in the database with phpmyadmin, a great time-saving tool.
6. I went on site remote and typed in the url for files downloaded to see if they would connect to the database. they did it.

That's all. Hope this story helps the next person who needs help.

Yet once again, thank you very much to those who responded. I appreciate your support.

  • Remote server configuration problem

The problem I have is that the various dialog boxes multiple paths in the configuration of the remote server seem rather amibiguous. I tried what seems like every combination of remote and local access roads, as well as various url strings. Any combination I can't get the file to resolve a URL that works.

Our current development configuration consists of a central server running Windows 2008 Web Server and ColdFusion 8.0.1. There are three of us using the machine, each developer has their own part on it. We each have our own set of virtual servers running from the share, through IIS on the server.

This has been a great Setup for us because it allows almost double environment for our production configuration. However, I can't for the life of me get a remote server configuration works completely. I have a machine of secondary dev I use where I'm running CF9 locally, and it works perfectly (I am aware of people who say that eclipse doesn't really want you develop remotely). We will move our server main dev CF9 immediately, and we want to keep the centralized server dev, remote server seems how to configure things.

It seems that the best scenario is to set up a server for each virtual server I set up. I would set a maximum as in the dialog box:

    General settings
    Server name: foo - site.com

    Host name: dev1.foo - site.com

    Other parameters

    Web server port: 80

    RDS username: my user name

    RDS password: my password

    The remote server settings

    Naming port: 2910

    User name: username admin-server

    Password: password-server-admin

Document root: (it is a source of confusion, does she want a url? a local file as my drive path mapped "Z:\) » ? or the physical path on the server 'C:\webroot\ '? Could be a path from my eclipse installation? Also, he wants a global path? "or connected to this server config?)

    Mappings

Local path: (Once again, similar confusion... If it is local to me, or the server? or maybe a url?)

Remote path: (If this should be a url, and if so does an absolute url for the local path listed above? And this she the Local path is the root of the virtual host, it must then be the same as the document root [which doesn't seem to work]?)

    Install Extensions

Root Web server: (If it's a physical path? should be related to Eclipse on my machine? or from the server?)

Installation location: (It would depend on the web root of remote server of course)

I keep trying different things, and end with either the CF for a project server settings telling me the project exists outside of the root of the web, or sample that url looks like [ http://[hostname]/[projectname] .

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The document root must be a physical path on the remote server, for example 'C:\webroot '. This is the path on the remote computer and the path not mapped on the computer on which the CF Builder is installed.

In maps, local path is the path on the computer on which the CF Builder is installed. Path remote is the path on the remote machine and not the URL.

for example if CF is installed to D:\Coldfusion on the remote computer and the local computer (where CF Builder is installed) you have the files in C:\ColdFusion, then when you configure the remote server, you must define the root of the Document to D:\Coldfusion\wwwroot and then you must create a map with local as C:\ColdFusion\wwwroot path and remote as D:\ColdFusion\wwwroot path.

CF Builder uses this information when you preview files and when you debug a file.

  • question of remote server in the site Configuration dialog box.

    Hello

I received client ftp information so that I can connect to its server to download files.

The new CS5 box installation site is a bit different (hard)...

I set up the folder on my desktop to download and set up the site (directions).

Problem: under the "Servers" tab, there name address remote connection and tests... mine has two lines of info.

The top one is my ftp from my personal site.

Below, it is the only one that I created just to get the download and I gave her a false name.

I have to remove the top? Because when I go to download it downloads files in my personal site - not customers. Or, should I uncheck "remote" from the top and activate at the bottom.

I don't want to affect my site at all. Please explain how this new method works... How can I control + choose what server I want content to download from.

I mean, if I had to remove this dialog box mine, then switch back to the my site dialog box, my connection to the remote server are deleted as well?

    Thank you!

    Too bad. I have it.

I hesitated to experiment, but it seems that you can select a "remote" at the same time, so all I had to do was click on the customer.

  • Question to have a test server and a remote server

    Hello

    using DW CS6

I have my site on a XAMPP test server configuration. Now, I want to publish to a remote server. When I select the remote server, he wants to define me a site. This means that there my site listed twice in the box site definition. I see that there the site twice at one point going to cause me some confusion. It is necessary to define the site twice? Is it possible to have distance and test on the same site definition go on two different servers?

I ask is because the test server is new to me. I use to have the site put in place in a folder on my computer and the site definition was the remote server if jump between the two was quite simple. I wonder if it's possible that now, I have the site on XAMPP.

    Thank you

When you created your site in Dreamweaver, you give it a name and set up a local site folder, right? You should not do it twice to add a remote server.

In the Site configuration > servers, you 'll have to define a new server, however if you want to keep your test server. But this should be no conflict, because they are both pointing to the same local folder in XAMPP, right?

If I know I'm going to need a test server, I make sure that my site folder is in my XAMPP/htdocs/folder. In this way, that I don't have to worry about having to keep track of two versions of the same site. Then when it's time to upload it to the remote server, I'm just adding a new server and checking the box "Remote".

A site, two (Local/network and FTP servers), no conflicts.

  • Configure the remote server and test

I installed Dreamweaver CS 6 and 10 CF and MS SQL server on the same computer.

I use Dreamweaver CS 6 to create a test web site and to set up the remote and testing server.

Dreamweaver invite me to enter the host name and the full directory.

I would like to know what I need to enter information?

    hostname is localhost?

complete diretory will C:\inetpub\wwwroot or C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\wwwroot?

Your information and your help is much appreciated,

    Kind regards

    iccsi,

    Iccsi,

Yes. Host name to the title of "Test Server" is the hostname of the server test - in your case, since you're using CF, it must be the path in which CF works. It will be localhost:8888 or something similar - depending on what port you have configured for the webroot when installing CF. you could check in CF dashboard. Or, you could start CF server, open your browser, enter localhost. If the loading of the page Web of the CF by default, it's just localhost. If this isn't the case, add the port number.

The remote server is your real Web server. It may be http://www.somesite.com or if you run it in a separate folder within your main site, it will be http://www.somesite.com/test - depends on you want to download the files of remote work.

The complete directory under local configuration is the place where your files are located on your local system. Still, if you use CF, you can thus use CF webroot to create / store files - this way, you don't have to make copies of files in 2 places since that you configure the same folder as your test server too.

  • Question of 2012 of R2 group key Distribution Server configuration.

    Hi all

I searched online for more information on the problems of kdssvc. and addition of KDSRoot keys that have been problematic.

In looking Site and Services snap-in and display of the Service node information I see the Server Configuration file, but no input config key Distribution of Service Group.

I don't see anything online that would allow me to recreate the Configuration of the server. Is there a way to re - generate the Cryptography keys properly here and allow me to move forward with additions of Cle_principale. I have a 2003 with a r2 dc 2012 functional area in the field of parent and child.

In the test of items off I see kds configs are always available and kdsrootkey can be created after the deletion of the entry of the Server Configuration. I'm looking for documents of deep dive on the subject.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows Media Center - not the initial download put in place data for guide "unable to connect to the remote server.

    Hello

Looking for help on this one...

I have a new install of windows 7 pro running, and I was not able to get the guide to download Windows Media Center.   I am up-to-date with all the updates and SP1 version running.   My video card drivers are also updated.

I use HDHOMERUN PRIME equipment with cablecard and who receives a TV signal very well and I am able to view it in WMC.    I use Verizon FIOS and my zip code is 07452.    Before this computer, I ran the cablecard even with a ceton infinitv and had no problem Guide at all.

It's just that I can't download the guide data.  Its just totally blank.   I receive the channels and view them, but there is NO data.      Whenever I run the TV setup the same question comes up.  Cannot download the initial configuration data due to the error of previous download.   As far as I know, there is NO error message when Windows installed... actually... I reinstalled windows completely and this has not solved the problem.    I tried to manually download the guide which did not help.   It... nothing happened when I turned 'on' and 'off' WMC in Control Panel to reinstall.  I even tried explore the ehome folder and remove the file db... but nothing is helping.

I can't find a file mcupdate.exe light on my system - don't know if this is relevant.   When I looked in the event viewer here are some of the error messages that I see.

    Design:

    Question:

Installation goes well until I needed to activate the Plugin SRM in vCenter.  Plugin called "Plug-ins available" and I click on the link 'download and install '.

Post edited by: ArrowSIVAC, this is related to the case of support for vmware 13384832210 This problem is solved.  Several pieces here. (1) vCenters were installed secretly with local account as own databases, and this is how I usually do things (2) MRS. servers were built as separate virtual machines, VMWare vs guides guess and documents in anticipation of your SRM installation on the same server as vCenter Documentation / Installer is not clarified that you MUST use domain for MRS accounts in the multiplayer linked site facilities and if you do not, the installation is completed without error, but resources will not work. Errors have for client plugin does not work. It was the symptom, the reason was that the SRM service did not work.  The service would not start and only an error in the Windows event log is 'vmware-dr stopped service' is because the connectivity issue of MRS to vCenter hosted the new SQL instance database SRM. The SRM database has been installed on the instance of vCenter server as vCenter database.  And just like the installation of default vCenter I chose localhost\administrator for database owner.  The database was filled with tables, but SRM has connectivity problems.   The fix for this was to add "domain\user" (called mine SRMAdmin and added as a member of domain admin), add this user in SQL in the list of database users and then promoted as the owner of SRM database and define the rights on DBO. This fixed the first issue. Second issue was that SRM installation set the DSN system identification information, but does not specify that they must also be domain based accounts.  The installation program is not not clear here and should only allow user domain\username when installing. After several attempts because of the root and installation methods different tried, how to get the installation complete and properly configure was to log on to the system AS the example domain account: domain\srmadmin = > Configuration System DSN by selecting "How should SQL Server verify the authenticity of the login ID?"  "with integrated Windows authentication', and then the installation of SRM to the"Enter Database user credentials"value"domain\srmadmin ".  Then and communication services to the vCenter SRM hosted DB database will work correctly. < See images attached benchmarks >

Is not more or less the same question you asked in {message identifier: = 10835497}?

You must have a user to the remote database and an entry for the remote database in your tnsnames.ora file

If you have just to coil of database of remote and local database didn't need to be involved:
Edit your tnsnames.ora and add an entry with the remotedb, the information and you need to have the following information:

Ip address or the name of the server (BAMDB001?)
    Name of the service (?)
Port configured for this database. (??)

Also, you must be sure that the connectivity of your local computer to a remote server is granted (without firewall block).
Only when you have this information, you can connect to the remote database from your laptop.

From the Unix server where you connect to the database, you can get the information to be inserted in your local tnsnames.ora by typing:

    tnsping dbname

Of course, you need to replace dbname with the name of your database.
Another way is to check the remote tnsnames.ora when logged in Unix:

    cat $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

    and check the configuration it.

    Kind regards.

  • Cannot call a VI of remote server

I have a VI running on a computer of labview (Labview 2010) development, the main function is handling excellent report using Report Builder. I followed the link http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14469/en to configure labview and teststand machine respectly. But when I tried to call the VI of the remote server, it is still not able to load the front panel of VI and show the connectors. See attachment. Looks like he's always trying to load local drive VI because it cannot find the subvis built-in for report generator function.

What should I do to make this work? Thank you!

For those who are interested in the solution, the problem turned out to be two things.

The first is that if you want to be able to load a prototype of the VI in TestStand, you will share the VI or create a dummy VI. If the commune VI using subVIs that you do not have access, then you better create a dummy VI which has shutters connector.

The second problem has to do with the way the remote path of the VI has been specified. If you shared the VI, then you will enter the path of the shared folder in your remote path of the VI. If you haven't shared it, then you will need to enter the path of the VI as it is on the remote machine.
