Renamed 3 variables shared on the network in Subvi to starting RT VI, now they won't write?

Hello world

I worked on an RT program deployed to our cRIO-9024 with custom FPGA, and I changed the way in which the data is written to these three types of DBL 1 d. I renamed the shared variables ("shvars") in the library of the RT project shvar and also changed the target to the PC for the debugging of the function of the code written for them. I used a struct of conditional compilation to turn them off and something has been corrupted along the way and the second node broken shvar (node moved directly from project, no programming style) and caused a hard compilation failure in the Subvi. I got the compile error and go after the removal of the node of shvar entirely and placing him again the project and everything seemed fine.

Soon, I bring the Subvi RT application instance and build my RT exe and deploy it. On the host PC, this second shvar now not get written in at all. I hunt and chase and decide that something is wrong with the deployment of the shvars. I redeploy all and even delete all 3 of the nodes of these shvars in the Subvi and place them again. Now, all 3 are not be written to. My next step is to move the shvars out of this sub - VI I put them in but this is recommended? Note that sometimes they seem to get written once and then are forever silent after that. Is this because I use the nodes instead of the function of programming with shvar addresses?

Thank you.

Edit: Notice the same level superior RT vi successfully wrote in 19 other shvars that I have not touched.

-Very well, I shot myself in the foot and was in fact barking the wrong tree. Put shvar nodes in a Subvi was well and not at all related to the problem.

The problem is that I had a bug in my code FPGA in a particular case, that could get him to stop putting valid data. Once I corrected this bug, everything returned to normal. I would like to delete this thread, but a little shy is right for you.

  • Variables shared on the CFP becomes zero and communicate with the PSC

I use a PC with two network cards, one on one wired ethernet, the other on a private IP directly connected to a PSC-2120 (running 6.0.5 full). I use variables shared on the CFP and aliasing to static variable on the PC (initially LV 8.6, now 2009f2 with the same problem in both). PC variables are stored in a database of the Citadel. I have the CFP program built to run at startup, and it works fine when not connected to the PC.

When connected to the computer all variables shared on the CFP will from time to time (almost 1/min for a few seconds) and randomly becomes zero. Even if they are resized only not to allow to become zero. I can say that what is happening because I use the variables shared as relay alarm thresholds module, and relays to suddenly slam on. I confirmed this by checking that the CFP has written to its internal flash memory card, and indeed variables suddenly are nil. On the PC it says that it cannot connect with the shared variables. This happens although LabView is not running on the PC!  Manager distributed system variables shared on the CFP are listed as (disconnected) during this time, but it continues to be able to read the correct values to live of the CFP entered the module.

Interestingly, I have the same computer with the same configuration (and a PSC-2120 different) that does not have this problem. Both PC's are new from the factory. I tried to disable the second ethernet adapter, closing all wall-lights/virusscan and re - order network cards in windows networking/advanced settings without success. Simply disconnect the cable between the PCP and the PC does not cause this problem and shared variables become zero does not trigger the network on the CFP monitoring parameters.

    My questions are:

    (1) this problem can be fixed?

    (2) lost communication for a few seconds is OK, but given the PSC variables become zero is not. Can I stop the variables of the PSC to become zero?

    -David

To update my previous post, it turns out that the re-installation was not the solution (the problem of variables start again occurring began). I finally realized that this only happens when I put the CFP time server IP (under Additional Configuration to the MAX). I was upgrading the server time on 192.168.1.1 IP (the IP address of the adapter of the CFP has been directly connected to). However, this compensation setting solves the problem.

I do not think that the time on the CFP must need to be addressed too often (and perhaps it is synchronized if I never re - deploy files to the CFP?), so I guess that leave it empty. Curiously, I have the same setup time on an another PSC server IP and PC (running LV 8.6) without problem.

  • Network variables shared to the host PC

    Hello world

I need to send the results of a time operation real PC to PC host without affecting the determinism on the PC in real time.

To do this, I have two periods loops, the two race 417 microseconds, but at different levels of priority. Who runs the algorithm on the PC in real-time is a priority of 1000 and the other loop that transfers just results from the PC to the host PC in real time is a priority of 100.

I measured the worst time taken to perform my loop of high priority to be 150 microseconds. I have so much time to send the results to the host PC. (I want to results updated all 417 microseconds).

I run the algorithm for 40 seconds on the PC in real time. But the values are updated on the host at the end of 40 seconds PC and not at each iteration of the loop I want.

    What was my mistake?

    Kind regards

    Prashant

Thank you all for the responses.

I found my mistake. I had wired a variable directly from the first loop timed for the second timed loop. This is the reason why the second loop was still waiting and never run. I used dummy shared variables to transfer data between the loops. Now, the loop works very well.

    Thanks again

  • deploy programmatically variable shared within the standalone version of RT (cRIO-9014)

    Hello

I have a question about here to use variables shared single process within the standalone version of RT for the cRIO-9014

I simplified my request of LV (LV2010) in two to test the use of shared variables.  See the attached file.

    (1) only run on the host PC: testHost
    (2) only works on the cRIO-9014: testRTcRIO

for both, I packed stand-alone executable and source distribution.

    for testHost,.
    (a). I copied \builds\testcRIO\Host to d:/or-rt/xmlrpcFEU source Distribution...
    (b) I run... \builds\testcRIO\Host.exe
    (c) xmlrpcFEUlog - host.txt is generated.

    for testRTcRIO,.
    (a) .d FileZilla to connect to the target of RT on network, I copied... \builds\testcRIO\Source Distribution\c\ni - rt\xmlrpcFEU

to/or-rt/xmlrpcFEU on the target of RT
    (b) I copied also... \builds\testcRIO\Real-Time Application\c\ni - rt\startup to/or-rt/startup on the target of RT
    (c) Max, I restarted the cRIO-9014.
    (d) xmlrpcFEUlog - RT.txt is generated.

We see that the shared variable does not work inside the RT target. but worked well on PC. the deployment programmatically method does not work.  any suggestion?

    Another thing is:
can I use telnet for the RT 9014 target and start the RT app directly? What is the command inside the terminal telnet RT?

Currently, I can telnet into the cRIO-9014, but, what I can do with it?

  • not possible to bind a variable shared via Ethernet network

    Hello!

I have computer A and B with windows xp, sp3 and labview 8.6, professional edition. The two computers are in the ethernet network. I'd like to Exchange data between two applications of LV using shared variables. I create a shared variable (published network) on both computers.
The problem is in the properties of shared variables not possible to bind the variable of the remote computer to the local computer. In the first step, there is even no possible to see any computer on the network. After the registration of the computer (Tools-> shared-> computer registry variable)
I see the computer remote, but without any variable sharing.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you for the answers.

  • Using variables shared between the different versions of labview

    Hello

I look at the use of variables shared between two different versions of LabVIEW. We have a 2 of the PXI system and a single PC. We are currently updating the code on the PXI system to 2014, but the PC still work 8.2.1. We now need a map of ARINC-429, which is executed only 2009 +, that is why we are to day. First tests show that shared variables do not communicate between the two. I think that the reason may be that the PXI running the version of variable motor 2014 shared, while the PC is running 8.2.1, but I don't know if it is precisely for this reason it does not work. Is there a way to communicate between two different versions of LabVIEW with shared Variables?

    Thank you!

    SOLUTION

There are two key elements in the process of installing software that are essential for PXI to communicate with another version of LabVIEW: Legacy Server Support Variable and Variable Support of Legacy Protocol. The first, in charge of the Protocol, was automatically installed through the selection of the other ingredients (although I do not know which triggered its installation). The second has been nested in the Protocol, but was not selected automatically.

The Protocol allows the PXI 2014 connect to shared variables hosted by devices 8.6 or an earlier versions, while the server allows before 2009 devices to communicate to shared variables hosted on PXI of 2014 (which was the initial problem)!

El Capitan is a bit fussy about safety. Try

    ·         What exactly happens when you try to open an encrypted file?

    ·         You receive an error message?

You have you decrypt the file even way you encrypted the file.

  • How to control the value of a variable that is shared at the beginning of the vi

    Hi all

In short: How can I make sure the values of the variables shared at the start of a vi?

    I have two vi.

One is a main vi where did I order a shared Boolean variable "run DAQ".

The other is a vi with a while loop that "polls" for the shared variable "Execute DAQ", which is connected to a box Structure. If the case is false, it does nothing, if it is true is short some simple IO DAQ within a while loop.

To be sure that at the beginning of the vi the variable 'Execute DAQ' shared value false (no matter what 'State' the shared variable was left in front of the vi began) I write a Boolean constant to this shared variable 'Execute DAQ' out of hand while loop.

Now my question: how is it possible that the case structure can enter into the 'True' State, even when main vi is not executed and there is therefore no way of the shared variable can be written in. I know that shared variables are stored in memory, but that's why I write it to false at the beginning of the vi.

Even when I read the first shared variable before you change it with a constant False the second instance of the shared variable that is wired to the case structure bed to True.
It seems to me that the shared variables do not follow the 'right' of the dependence of LabView and are updated outside the normal flow of the vi.

Thanks for your time and advise on this.

    JackT wrote:

Someone knows another way around this?

    Yes.  Do not use them.

If you not post on a network, use a normal Global Variable or use a queue, the user event, stating to send commands indicating loops for updating their values.

If on a network, then I recommend the network stream to send commands/data back with updates.  I used shared variables, more I hate them.

  • cRIO shared after the restart Variable

I use share Variables to configure a cRIO-9074 with some Boolean values, doubles and integers (ints), but when the cRIO reboot due to a power failure or any other reason, all shared variables must be redefined (I use another VI to set the configurations for each cRIO using shared Variables).

The box using DSC Toolkit I can put an initial value for each variable, but this does not solve my problem, since I have several cRIO running the same software, but using different configurations.

What I would like to change the k value for each shared Variable based on the last set value, so each time a cRIO reboot, it loads the last values for each shared Variable.

    Hello Quintino,

Perhaps you could store your data in a file available on the network and regularly update values (seconds or less, depending on your application). Then, when your cRIO begins, just initialize your variables shared with the contents of the file.

    Kind regards

  • Change the target of the library Variable shared by program

I have a project in real time with the code that runs on a host PC and a cRIO who communicate using a library of shared on the cRIO variables. I am hosting the variables on the cRIO because who has worked much better than the accommodation on the host PC. For normal operation, this structure works perfectly.

However, I'm now trying to implement a system that will allow the user to choose if they want to actually run the code on the cRIO or run a simulated system. The simulated system would occur on the host PC, so it is logical for this application for variables to be located on the host PC.

To account for these two cases, I would change the target of the variable shared library depending on whether the real-time system is running or if the simuation is executed. I can do easily manually simply by dragging the library in the Project Explorer, but prefer to automate this process.

In short, I try to develop a code that will change the target of a shared library of variable.

I tried to do that by opening a reference to the project file, using the properties to get the library reference and change the target. However, the target property is read-only. Is there another way to do this or I'm stuck having to do it manually?

It turns out that I had a version of the shared library Variable on the cRIO, so even when I welcomed the variables shared on the host PC, he always wrote in the cRIO. In fixing this issue, I have been able to accommodate the library on the host PC and get all what to run much more simply.
