  Windows Update keeps trying to install the same update (KB981852) again and again. Whenever update is a new update, downloads and installs it.   Yet, none of the foregoing is an answer to my question, as seems to be preferred on the Microsoft Forums, unless it is summarily assumed that the applicant is a fool, then all the possible solutionsobvious are specified, even when the applicant stated that he had tried these thingsbefore asking for help.

  In all cases, the problem seems to have been resolved by simply saying to Windows Update to stop advising me of the update.

  2. in the left pane, click on change settings.
