Replace the HHD Pavilion m7 with SSD boot drive

I have a Samsung 840 Evo SSD that I managed to install in the 2nd internal drive Bay. It works great as a second internal drive, but I want to make the boot drive for Windows 8.1 or simply swap with the internal HD, which is the current startup disk.

I used the program Samsung disk magician to clone the internal HD to the SSD, but it does not appear in the BIOS, so I can't select it as your startup disk. I tried to boot from the SSD with the internal HD disconnected and it fails, apparently because the laptop does not see the operating system on it.

I updated the BIOS to F.29, which is the current version, but the SSD simply does not appear in the BIOS.

Any help is most appreciated!

I still have the problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Go to disk management and check if the SSD is an indicator of STARTING activated. Use Gparted: http://gparted.org/

    Hello:

Your BIOS is set to AHCI (or RAID) by default. It cannot be changed.  Look in your device manager and in the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers section, look to see if there is a controller SATA ACHI he.

If so, you have an AHCI BIOS default.

If you go further down the line in Device Manager and see a section of storage controllers, click on that, you would see a SATA RAID controller and your BIOS is set to default RAID.

I don't have your model laptop so I don't know if HP has implemented some models double disk RAID or AHCI.

So... First, copy your original C:\ drive SWSetup folder and save that to a portable hard drive. That must contain all the files installation for the drivers and the software provided with your PC. You can search this folder for programs that you may want to reinstall after your new SSD drive HARD primary.

To install W7 on your SSD, check your own install of W7 disc.  Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

Can't answer your question on the dual boot as I never did before.

  • Desktop HP ENVY Phoenix 860VX: how to replace ssd boot drive in a desktop HP ENVY Phoenix 860VX?

I bought a desktop computer HP ENVY Phoenix 860VX with an SSD of 256 GB of disk as a boot disk with a disk of 1 TB storage.  I have a Samsung Evo Pro 500 GB SSD I want to use as the startup disk.  I cloned the original drive to the Samsung Evo without problem.  I opened the PC folder to move hard disks, and I can't find the SSD drive.  I found the pretty easy storage of 1 TB drive but cannot find the SSD drive.  Can anyone help?

    Greetings,

You can have a PCIe M.2 (Non - SED) Solid State Drive 256Go.

This drive connects to the motherboard, it's the size of a stick of gum.

It can be mounted vertically or stand flat on the motherboard (MB).

M2 the drive is much faster than an SATA 3 SSD.  You may not be happy with this change if you bought a SATA 3 SSD. You might be better off going to a 512 GB m2 if the MB supports. I noticed that the m2 drive runs closer to the rated speed when using a k i7 - 5930 or an i7-5960 x due to the track of 40 PCIe bus as opposed to 28 tracks on the i7-5820 k.

It should be close to the PCIe slots. ASRock, Asus and Gigabyte locate M.2 slots here as it connects with the bus PCIe x 16 and uses the bandwidth of one of the 16 slots x.

If this is true, install the SATA SSD in the available Bay HHD using an adapter 2.5 inches. Then change the default boot device in the BIOS for the SATA SSD. You may need to experiment on what SATA port you use. EFI can be finicky. It is also possible that you may have to reinstall the original image. I have an Asrock x 99 card in m.2. Asrock BIOS is much more forgiving and configurable. I'm not familiar with MB of your PC or the boot configuration options available during the passage of a m2 boot device to a boot SATA device.

This change of equipment could also ruin to restore the PC using the original image. It depends on whether this change of equipment is a configurable option to purchase.

    See you soon!

  • Replace the screen for one with a higher resolution on Satellite P850-12Z

    Hi all

I read a lot on the internet about the replacement of the screen on computers laptop toshiba and also I saw a video on [how to replace the screen for a Toshiba Satellite P855 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ncz3ZaI2I-s].

Is it possible to replace the screen for a Toshiba Satellite P850 12Z (original: 15.6"@1366x768) to another screen with a higher resolution (say: 15.6"@1920x1080 or 15.6"@1600x900)?

I'm sure that the graphics card is able to function perfectly with this screen (nVidia GeForce GT630M 2048 MB dedicated) and also I read a lot on laptop screen replacement, and I know that this screen has a connector 40 pin and it is an LED Panel, so I won't have to worry about the ups.

I found several screens (15.6"@1920x1080) who say they are compatible with Toshiba, but I wan't to make sure a higher resolution Panel replacement is possible.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Exchange of the display is not supported by Toshiba, so I don't think that someone here can help you with this.
I assume that Toshiba offers multiple views for this model of laptop. Only seller is different but resolution 1366 x 768 is always the same as on the original laptop specification.

You can try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. If someone can help you with that service of Toshiba. They have access to the database of Toshiba and can possibly tell if another view is usable on your machine.

    All this is quite complicated.

  • Replace the chip AMD A8 with an AMD A10

HI, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on this.  I have a HP: 500-054 with an AMD A8 chip, I want to upgrade an A10.  Power and watts on socket are very good A10 uses the same power and is located in the path of upgrade for the Council of Eric on the 054.

My problem is that it looks like the factory used a thermal GLUE, instead of a paste.  When I opened the hood and went to remove the fan screws were already in bulk.  Unscrew more just to be sure and tried to remove the fan so I could replace the chip. I checked and recheck and nothing else is holds the fan.

So any suggestions on getting the fan assemble the CPU socket without damaging the motherboard?  He is stuck in solid and hoped that someone here would have a suggestion.

I'm not particularly intelligent or gifted. I'm just very, very curious.
    Albert Einstein

Thanks for the reply, I was upgrade the system to pull the max memory and put it into the higher A-series chip. A problem with the fan by pulling even after be unscrewed it wasn't pulling up if I could have access to the chip.

Regardless of the factory used as a thermal paste should be defined as super glue.  Shouldn't not concerned by the old A8 chip I replaced it anyway, so I unplugged the fan and run the PC for 15 minutes on a game with the unscrewed and disconnected fan.  Not something that I would normally do, but this has worked to build-up of heat allowed me to wiggle the fan a little and she appeared off the coast.

Thanks for your reply, the problem is resolved and the new chip Assembly and fan of the A10 is installed and works very well.  Note the A8 chip works well so I tested it on another PC so overheating does no damage.

  • Replaced the G550 motherboard. Won't boot black screen and high.

I replaced the motherboard in my Lenovo G550 laptop cause the old one was fried. It's the exact same model of the motherboard with a new processor. I carefully put it back together and double checked all the connections. Now when I turn it on, it made all the right noises, I hear the fan and hard drive starts, but after 2-3 seconds, the HARD drive and fan go quiet and the hard drive light turns off. The laptop stays just slowed after this point and the screen is completely black, no display at all. Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you

THE FIXED! .. After leaving the laptop running for about five minutes, I noticed that the right part of the palmrest botton was really hot. That's where the USB slot Council separte connected to the motherboard. So I opened the laptop again once disconnected the cable flex of the USB card, turned on again and it starts without any problem. Everything works perfect now just need to find a replacement USB Board now on this side. Can't believe that the USB Board was causing the problem.
