crazy laptop has windows 8 on it. It would guide step by step to get out of here. any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

Hello, I do not have your system but it's almost the same as most other computers... If your laptop is not a DVD/CD player, you will need to use the one to which you connect with USB and then install the recovery disk that you made.

Turn on the computer and let it boot the DVD/CD drive. Then it will ask you what you want to do. I guess one of the options would be to do a FULL install. After 30 min to an hour your software and things should be installed and started in your computer. If you have a MSN or Microsoft Account I would connect with that if it can put your things together for your system.

Then I would right click on start/Windows button and go into the Device Manager. Then, I would look to see if your computer has installed all the elements you need for your computer to run. If you see one! near an object, there is a problem with the driver. I'll make sure you have the drivers from the site of the Acers to your computer before you start, I t makes it easier. I unzip and then then burn it to a CD/DVD if you do not have to worry about your WIFI or ETHO drivers do not install.

If you wish you could do as I have and make a file server that keeps all the drivers for all my computers. even have some old MB drivers for my OLD systems. In any case where the installed Wifi or ETHO you could point the reader to get all the other software you need. Also if you have a USB you can use it as your drive pilot too. The only bad thing about this is if, for some reason it does not work, it could be put on a CD/DVD-rom.

OK for a reminder... If your computer has a DVD/CD player in CD/DVD repair (or connect your DVD/CD USB and load support)

Turn on and your machine should start on your repair disc.

Choose the installation completes and select the new drive, it should then do the Partitions that is required for installation.

After 30 minutes, you will be asked to login to Windows. If your use of the system with a Microsoft account, it may ask if you want to DL (your name) for all applications and images for backgrounds and what not. Choose Yes.

Then. Right button click on start/Windows. Device Manager and look at all the material to ensure that all installed right. Can even check updates for your graphics card if you have an older system, so things worked well.

Hope this has helped some and you can get your system back running without delay.

I just installed a new 1 TB in my Acer Aspire XC603 so I just went through this myself. After trying to clone my drive, I had to just do a clean install in the end.

You have all the Norton/Symantec products installed and if so, do you know which ones and versions?

You start with a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    YES!

I just did mine 01/01/2016, installed a new WD 500 GB HDD black on my laptop ASUS K52F, took my DVD 4 restore disks and restored to Win 7 Home Premium, more 10 Windows, which is sitting on my old HDD in the trash. I'll stick with my Original OEM OS and never improve to WIN 10 times.

It is not possible to download records from the web site, but you can order and they will send you the discs for you.  If you can get another option using F11 to work and get the restored system this way, you can make your own recovery disks (assuming that you have not already done on this PC, what a game can be made by PC).

You must ensure that the size of the SSD is equal to or greater than the size of the previous HARD drive to perform successfully the recovery discs recovery.
