Request money Arctic

Arctic Silver has very specific instructions on how to apply it to a story long and wide to AMD and Intel CPU/s, however, completely ignores Power PC chips. Anyone know a link or have an older set of instructions where they always reminded that there are power PC chips?

Closer to you, I can come...

  • Fan/Heatsink Assembly thermal Ribbon

Hi, I received my fan and heatsink of heat today and inside he received instructions for the application of thermal paste with a syringe which is included in the box. As well as alcahol wipes.

I don't have a syringe to dough, or wipes. Instead I got what looks like heat, already glued Ribbon on my radiators, what do I do with this, or did HP just send me the wrong compound?

    Thank you, Tim.

This is the factory applied thermal paste. I think they use a machine to do it. The compound is sticky but is not intended to serve as a glue if that's what you mean. It transfers heat effectively. You see the same type of geometric dab of thermal paste on the standard fan/radiator units equipped with processors in a box. It is intended for one time use. When I was building platforms high performance, that I used to wipe this kind of things off and apply my own money, Arctic, but on a laptop that is not necessary. You could not apply a more perfect amount of cooling made up if you tried. Yet once, in the days when I was building high performance machines, I used 'lap' surfaces from the top of the heart of processor or the cover and the bottom of the radiator using ultrafine or even automobile Emery cloth, Polish, then clean with alcohol and then apply thermal paste. Smooth the surface the better cooling. The surfaces on the fan and the heatsink are smooth already, but you can clean the top of the core processor well with just a little alcohol to remove residues. Then, mount the fan/radiator. Attention with the torque on the screws. Good luck.

  • My Y570 is overheating!

Hey guys! So, my laptop is overheating a lot lately... I have 10 months and the computer restarts when start working on it... I do a lot of 3D, especially because it's my job, so I bought this laptop because it has components of Hi-top.

Anyway, when I start something in 3D modeling the laptop is just restarts... It comes as 30 to 60 minutes after I start working... Sometimes it works for a few hours without problem. The laptop was never opened because there is no store service in Bulgaria... Thanks for this Lenovo! So I can't really use my warranty and if I take it in a regular store with this warranty they charge me big time just to clean... So, any ideas? I have a buffer of cooliing don't help at all... I bought a fan which is attached to the side of the laptop, but it's not as well helping... So, can someone please give some info on how to dissansemble the laptop and clean it? Also a friend bought the same laptop, it pretty much has the same problems, while he understood, in a maintenance shop and they found out that there is no thermal paste on the CPU and the GPU... So, what are the chances of my laptop may not have the thermal paste?

TSvetkoKrastev, I can probly give you a rough overview of what has happened here, evey, well than the (most) some may disagree.

Thermal paste applied to the gtx 555 and i7-2670qm on those computers laptops lenovo has been atrocious. A kind of green fuzzy crap that doesn't dissipate little or no heat. I'm pretty sure that after 10 months of fairly constant use by the sounds of it, you basically cooked all their thermalpaste of crap. It's a risk to SEPARATE it yourself and put some money Arctic high grade on it, but the time fall downto 40sC low for the CPU and about 50 for the GPU. Their new bios 2.10 solve some of these issues, I think that to raise the cut-off level point to something crazy like 90 c or 95 c for the CPU, for us, the customers don't would not see the stutter effect claimed by many on these forums. Also using a program like ThermalStop can give u a good idea for how hot your laptop runs depending on what are the tasks that you complete. If you have a warranty, send to it by saying that it is overheating too bad and unusable. The bios initially made the accelerator of the cpu down when it hit 85? Correct me if im wrong guy, who was much too low, because every time you have used the laptop with these horrible heat, it would almost inevitably hit more than 85.

As an accompaniment, note after applying AS5 to my GPU, b4, the dough again the 555 gtx would hit more 85 without just to start the game. Now I can overclock of 752 / 912 mhz Core and 1570/1735 on the memory without so much as a hiccup. Thermals are really problems with these ideapads, and lenovo could have hit a home run with the y570. Also I would recommend updated BIOS 2.10, for who can address some of your questions. He fixed a strange typing too fast, and shit randomly would open in question lol. Or you can try a 2.06 unlocked bios and rectify some of the time when some stuff kicks on, but there are literally 100's of options to 2.06 unlocked, and it seems like you can do more harm than good... just my espoir.02 that helps

  • get rid of the Uniblue registry

A few days ago, I was downloading the last update to the Adaware program installed on this computer.  At the opening of the cnet page there was an offer for a free analysis of Uniblue Registry Booster to find conflicts in Windows.  I clicked on that and installed the program which ultimately requested money for the supposed conflicts found.  When I tried to remove the program, a window opens which says that permission to do.  This looks like a legitimate Windows message.  What should I do to get rid of Uniblue?  I'm sick of getting Uniblue opening at startup window!

What should I do to get rid of Uniblue?

You don't mention what version of Windows you use, then here are some instructions for Windows 7.

To remove Uniblue, first stop the process. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, and then select Start Task Manager. On the property page of the process (ex.: tab) find registrybooster.exe in the list and select it. Click the end process button in the lower left corner and confirm the operation.

Click Start or press the Windows key and type or coller, paste in %PROGRAMFILES%\Uniblue , then press on . This should open the Uniblue program directory. Locate the uninstall program and right click and select run as administrator. The steps and restart the computer when it is done.

  • Should I apply more thermal paste?

I got a new Dell heatsink for my desktop Studio XPS 9100 (i7 960 processor).  The new heatsink came with a thin layer of fresh thermal paste, completely covering the surface of circular contact.  The new thermal compound was protected by a green plastic above the contact area Cap. I had already bought a tube of Arctic Silver 5.  I must:
    1. install the new heatsink without adding any money Arctic to the CPU as the contact on the heat sink surface is covered? or,
    2. Add a vertical line of the Arctic Silver 5 to the CPU, and then install? or,
    3. remove the factory thermal paste and aim Arctic Silver 5 the heatsink from the CPU to avoid the mixing of the two types of paste?
I'm leaning towards alternative #1 since I guess that Dell is familiar with this paste to apply and how to apply.  Any ideas?

    I'd go with #1 too.

Probably, you want to clean the old thermal paste on top of the processor before installing the new heat sink, but do not remove CPU in its socket.

You can google for various methods remove the old thermal paste. If you use a solvent (e.g. isopropyl alcohol), do so carefully so it doesn't drip on the motherboard, or other components.

And make sure not to touch the surface of the radiator after you remove that Green Hat.

  • If we decide to not deal with a cancellation request, we take your money!

I just found out that Microsoft always take £5.99 from my account by using the coordinates of a debit card that was cancelled and replaced by a new card (and the number of car) in April 2011. The account should have been cancelled in January 2011, when I sold the 360.  I was on the phone with many "customer service" representatives today whose attitude seems to be "I don't see a cancellation request, it is so difficult," it cost me more than £100 and I want a refund! What I really don't understand which is the card number, they stop being valid in April 2011, but they are still able to make money on the account itself. I don't know Hat there are a lot of people who have had the same problem. Xbox live customer service are of no use whatsoever, so I want to know who I can escalate this issue and get a refund arranged. The payment method is the card, not my bank account, and if the card has been cancelled, you can not use it
