Resource conflict: PXI-1000b NI PXI-8106 & NI-8420/2

Dear readers,

Who:

I use a (PXI 8160) embedded controller with rs232 (NI-8420/2) card in a PXI (PXI-1000 (b) grid.

Problem:

At the start of the grid, I get the message: conflict PCI in slot 2 resources / Bus: 0 b, Dev: 0F, function: 00. F1 / F1 to resume or del to enter setup press.

If I continue after the conflict, I see 2 com-ports correctly installled in my equipment manager.

After starting, when I look in the systemtab of the eventviewer, I find a mistake. This is also when the 8420 is not plugged.

"Start or system start drivers failed to load: nvatabus / nvraid" + "Source: Service Control Manager. (see attachment)

What I'm trying:

If I remove the NI 8420 card, there is no problem.  If I keep the 8420 in the basket, but in another location, the rest of the problem, but in a different location.

Maybe there is something wrong in the bios settings, but I've tried almost all the settings including the reset / disable comport of the 8106 /...

Exchange the card did not work too.

I tried this 8420 in another basket (without an embedded controller), but there is no conflict of interest.

The controller is embedded (windows xp and drivers) formatting

I hope someone can tell me more on this subject. Thanks in advance.

Steven

Hi Steven,

This warning indicates that the two new Communication Ports or more device are sharing memory address space. This is normal and does not affect the functionality of devices that you checked. There is nothing wrong with the jury.

Sincere greetings,

  • On the PXI-8106 serial port connection problem

Currently, I am trying to connect to the serial port on the PXI-8106 via RS232 module. However, when I try to run the Test VI opened for COM1 MAX (PXI Remote) running on a PC, I received an error like below:

    Returns the status code: 0xBFFF00A8

    Name of the State: VI_ERROR_NPERMISSION

Access to the resource or the remote machine is denied. This is due to the lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or the machine.

Right now I'm just a just loopback test to ensure that the interface for device is working before you start my labview code. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, if it has to do with the PXI or PC. Could you please suggest a few solutions to this topic?

    Thank you.

I managed to understand. It did not work on the right platform.

  • Upgrading memory on the PXI-8105 controllers and PXI-8106

    Hello

I've recently upgraded the memory of three PXIs; one with a PXI-8105 controller and two with the PXI-8106 controllers.  Both the 8105 and 8105 can have a maximum of 4 GB (2x2gb) DDR2-677 (PC2-5300) (see links below).  However, on the three systems, both the BIOS and the o/s only see 3.3 GB.  No idea why this might be the case?

I tried to Flash the BIOS (v1.4 on the two PXIs), but without success.

We use COTS memory (i.e. not purchased NOR) but I would be badly pushed to believe it is the cause of the problem.

    Thank you.

I don't know about the BIOS reports less than 4 GB. Here's a blog post that best describes what I wanted.

  • Single-point PXI 8106 timed performance material

    Hello

I'm potentially interested in buying a PXI-8106 module for my application of servo motor control. I would like to know that single-point timed material loop rate performance of this command when used with DAQmx, before buy you. Does anyone have statistics of performance for this controller to the benchmarks of NOR (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5423/en/)? Ideally, I'd be able to get execution rate of loop for T1 to T4 tests, for 1 and four lanes. I can't find this info online.

I am currently borrow a PXI-8108 for my setup and I can reach nearly twice my goal of 2 kHz loop rates. I also know the performance of the 8108RT to the above reference, so if I had the same numbers for the 8106 I should be able to judge how the 8106 happen for my application.

    Thank you

    Hello

We do not have these data posted, but looking at the specifications for these two cards, I imagine that you would see no more than a 20% drop in performance between the two.  Probably less.

  • blue screen on the PXI-8106 module: hardware malfunction

    Hi all

I have a module, PXI-8106 (2 GB of RAM) - with a PXI-6254 and I was running trials with the attached screw (continuous acquisition of 16 I and 32 DI triggered by RTSI 4-5 kHz).

When I started this morning, I got a blue screen of death saying this:

    Hardware malfunction

Call your provider of support material

    NMI: Parity parity CheckMemory error

    The system stopped *.

Now, I restarted the PXI revived the VI and it works again.

Is there something I can do to ensure that this error will not be shown again?

Thanks in advance for any help

Meh... I know I'll be back on a fairly old post, but I found the solution.

For some reason any installation Vision Acquisition software 8.5.1 created the problem by defining itself as the default driver for the network card. Then, go to 'manage' by right clicking on the 'Bureau', go to the hardware section, network card and select the intel driver solved the problem.

  • Using PLX9054 PCI resource conflict

We use a PLX9054 PCI chip in our designs PXI. We found that for some computers, only four modules can be used by PCI bus segment - the fifth module indicates a resource conflict. Looking at the use of detailed resources, it seems not be conflict in the address range or range of i/o addresses. On some computers, all five (or more) modules work fine.

The problem may be in which addresses are assigned to modules - debugging indicates that module in conflict has been awarded addresses reserved for the ISA bus and are not transported on the PCI bridge we use to run unions PXI.

Has anyone else seen elsewhere? Technical support PLX gave no indication.

I agree that the problem is the BIOS, not the operating system.  The resources requested, however, I suspect that the problem is space e/s.  You can change resource requests to eliminate the need for I/O space?  It is a scarce resource which is likely to cause problems, and I recommend not to use it even if it isn't the cause of this particular problem.

Minimum allocation of I/O bridge is 4 KB, and there are only 16 assignments available (64 KB).  While that sounds like a lot of what you do, it's complicated by folding mode ISA, which essentially limits you to 256 bytes of each 1024 bytes.  And the BIOS could not allocate space to IO well (I've seen before).

For your requests for memory space, you might as well make them the two 4 KB.  The minimum increment for a bridge is 1 MB, so all the tips in your chassis can use up to 128 KB without using more system resources.

Let me know if using space memory suits him.

I have 2 options [Run Setup] or [Boot]
If I run [installation] I go to the blue Bios setup but can not see anything that can cause this error.
If I select [boot boots} the system as usual.]
How can I get my laptop start normally?
I have no shared or added to any material. I ran the CD recovery Toshiba, no luck.

Y at - it an option to load the default settings of the BIOS on your laptop? If so, try it.

Can't think right now that can generate this error unless you have recently
had a new device that is STILL attached to a USB port (USB drive, printer, etc.)

I have remove the wi - fi and modem module and the same error message. I can't update the bios because the windows start. The bios version is 1.7. The laptop is the UK version. If select "Edit the bios", beginning of the bios but I can't find any resources management.

    Hello

I think the bios error change setting means that you need to access the BIOS and should set the BIOS default settings.

Please to do this, save the settings and try to start!

  • Tecra A7 PTA71E: Bus of serial controller resource conflict PCI on motherboard

    Hello

    Sorry for my English.

I have a problem with this laptop Tecra A7 PTA71E 00D00DSP. One of my clients transported this laptop with the next serial number.
When you turn on the laptop, before windows login, seems that three consecutive messages:

Conflict of resources - Bus serial PCI controller on the motherboard.
BUS ERROR: 07 device: function, 06:01
Resource conflict - PCI on the motherboard mass storage controller.
    BUS ERROR: 07 device: function: 06, 02
Conflict of resources - Bus serial PCI controller on the motherboard.
BUS ERROR: 07 device: function, 06:03

I changed the RAM, hd, eating, with the same result.
If you come in the bios and save the changes with the best configuration or default installation, the result is the same. I read in the forums that this error is tipycal in some toshiba models and the only solution is to change the motherboard. I hope it 'sn' t true and you, the experts of the toshiba, might help me find or tell an alternative, because I think my client won't like the motherboard, because it is usually too expensive.

    Hello

    > I read in the forums that this error is tipycal in some toshiba models and the only solution is to change the motherboard.
I doubt s typical error for Toshiba laptop.
According to this error message, there is something wrong with PCI devices on the motherboard, and this error may happen to any laptops from different manufacturers it typical error of s which is related to the question of the motherboard.

According to me, there is no much to do you'll need a new motherboard.

    Hello

I guess there is a resource conflict because the game port is not available on the device.
So the joystick device tries to use the resources that are used or reserved for any other device.

I wanted to use a joystick on my no Toshiba laptop, but it has not been possible.
It was the same question as on your device. But I was able to use it on the desktop.
I think that support doesn t use laptop a lot because of miniaturization and mobility Office PC port.

  • Satellite P30 - PCI network controller resource conflict

At the start, I have a message "resource conflict - PCI slot 03 Bus network controller: 02, device: 02, function: 00 press F1 to RESUME F2 to Setup.

If I choose to resume, boot Windows XP starts but stucks in the process. I can boot Windows Mode safe mode without network only. I tried to reinstall the NIC drivers and restore the system, but it had no effect.

How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

The resource conflict appears generally if any 3rd device is already using the same resources of laptops.
The installed Windows operating system must control everything and it is not necessary to assign resources manually. After installing the driver everything should run automatically

I don't know why it happens, but in such case, the new OS installation m would be desirable.
Try to back up all your important data and reinstall the OS with all the important drivers Toshiba.
