Restoration of dirt

You want to migrate the existing stand-alone server to a primary server to failover support.

If necessary do sratch re-setup of the server the existing unit in support of failover, can I use information dirt from the existing and restored server to the new principal server? Assume that the new version of the unit is the same as the existing one.

Thank you

JJ

OK - no need to migrate the server to get the independents to failover - the configuration guide referenced in the link to the other thread, you should get from A to B on this procedure.

I'm going to migrate to a MCS unity UM 4.0 Server (4) (store off message box) ICS Server Blade. Can I use the same name and the IP Address of the new server? Procedure would be as follows:

    Dirt to backup existing server

    Stop existing server

Associate the new server in the domain

    install Ex2K Admin

    Install the unit

    Restoration of dirt.

Is this likely to be more complex/risky process that restoring to a server with a different name and the INVESTIGATION period. All the steps I have to add in?

    Thank you

    Chris

The process seems good. The dirt does not care if the name or the IP address changed or hnot. As long as you do not have another machine on the network with the same name/IP you should be fine. Just note that AD will make you remove the first machine, before adding the new using the same name.

  • DIRT and what his role with the MS - SQL database

I am setting up the procedure for the Bare Metal Restore for our Telco servers. And I wonder if the DIRT back up the MS - SQL databases.

Restoration of dirt requires that the unit (same saved version) is running before, it'll do a restore - as these UnityDB and ReportDb databases must be present - restoring pulling data out of the local DBs first before their replacement by the saved tables (without things like the name of the local server, which GC/DCs we are connected) configuration etc...). So no, it won't it create on the fly because the restore cannot function without a server in operation of the first unit. This isn't just a backup and restore, but also a type migration tool.

  • Model import/export

My client has a 4.0 (3) of the unit in operation. They will install 4.0 (4) and want to reuse their model information in the new system. Y at - it any possibility to import/export selectively items such as patterns to avoid work and possible errors involved in manual recess? As far as I see it, there is no, but I thought that I would try to find out. Thank you

No, the backup and restore as dirt and FullDBImport/Export tools are 'all or nothing' back ups, you can just backup some objects and restore them on a server of the target unit. The connections between the different means of objects (i.e. models link to class of Service and call managers and schedules etc.) you can't easily just cart around them, by themselves. It's a little more complex than it looks.

  • Unit migration to AD new forest

    Hi all

I have a few basic questions about planning to migrate the 4.04 unit to a new forest. We have 7 unity servers that will need to be migrated. The great Cisco Unity deployment and Solutions Guide quite generically talks about this in chapter 15: migration and upgrades. In the section migration unity between different Active Directory forests, he mentions the unit needing to be "moved" to a different AD forest, but aren't really in the details than others to be aware of issues that may be introduced by the migration and a few other things.

A few questions I have are:

    1. This requires a new installation of the unit in the new forest, and then use DiRT to restore? Seeing that we intend to import all users accounts with all the same alias that I guess that should be ok if this is the procedure to follow. As each site gets migrated local Exchange and domain controllers will be dismantled and mailboxes mailbox exported and deleted so I'll have to cut more immediately. We run UM.

    2. what happens if the OU structure is different in the new forest when you perform a restoration of dirt? I wondered beforehand if the structure must be the same as it is in the current forest and if will not be their problems and these problems can be fixed by reconfiguring the unit or subscribers would have to be deleted then recreated.

    3. is there a basic document anywhere that explains how to migrate one forest to another unit, or is it just install a new server of the unit in the new forest and restoration with dirt for each current site/server?

    4. (a little unrelated) the AD schema updates on the work of the conference for AD 2003 4.04 as well? We will migrate to a Server Windows 2003 forest will now be Win2k on the servers of the unit themselves.

My guess is that the servers will have to be fresh installed and configured in the new forest and then run DiRT to restore assuming all the aliases are the same they should be.

Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions and links that you may have on this topic. ;)

The reconfiguration guide and update this covers in detail:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/customer/products/SW/voicesw/ps2237/products_upgrade_guides_book09186a0080222fdf.html

Yes - you must do a fresh install, perform a backup of dirt from your old system and restore it to your new installation. Versions must match.

the OU structure is not serious - searches in the announcement of the upper part of the forest down to a corresponding DirectoryID, the RDN and the alias (mail nickname) - this process is covered in the help file of dirt if you want more details.

Yes - the updated schema is the same for 2003.

You will see other reports of this here - the stamp of date/time Configuration table is only used for failover (i.e. If systems can keep these parameters in harmony in all of boxes). If you use integrated security, and get this, then there is a problem. If you do not use this security, then there is nothing to worry about here.

You can manually update the LastModifiedTime column for the rows in this table if you want to go further without worrying about the error. See the release notes for this bug for more details:

I ended up deleting the account of USBms_ of AD and purged from the mailbox (E2003). I found a stored procedure in the database SQL of the unit called sp_MakeBroadcastMbox. Using utility Explorer data binding (CUDLE) I executed and he updated a table. Now the error has disappeared and things seem to be working again.

    2. posted by: anilve - software dev. Mgr., CISCO SYSTEMS - August 30, 2005, 12:54 pm PST

You use Report Builder queries in CUDLE.

Here is the query that you run-

    =======================================

    DECLARE @RC int

    DECLARE @SyncToDirectory bit

    SET @SyncToDirectory = 1

    EXEC @RC = [UnityDb]. [dbo]. [sp_MakeBroadcastMbox] @SyncToDirectory

    ===============================

Once you press the button run the above query, it will say - 1 affected line. You can also run procedures stored using SQL Query Analyzer, if it is installed on the computer to the unit.

    I hope this helps! Ginger

  • The unit 4.2.1 and call Manager Import/Export

Is their way to export all the info of config CH and import it into another system of the unit? I have many servers of the unit who have pretty much the same configuration of AA and it would be much easier to import CH configuration on each server. Thank you.

No, it's not an import/export tool just for managers. You can use DiRT to backup/import configurations all - some dealers make a backup of dirt of a generic facility with many managers to call for the configuration of audio text, but not (other than the default example admin) subscribers and then restore a dirt on new facilities in the area such as their General Manager configurations are present out of the box - this may work for you but is not a 'import' - it replaces the base the entire local system data, it adds not just call handlers to the existing combination.

  • Changing the Configuration of the Exchange outside autonomous UNIT-

    Hello

After reviewing the first I can not find any son who point me in the right direction... My situation is: -.

I currently have 1 current Exch 2000 unit on box. The customer now wants to integrate the UNIT with its new Exchange servers. Is there a way I can do it without losing all my 400 subscribers and recreate them. I don't see the usefulness of working for this DIRT.

    Pointers please...

So presumably the Exchange/unit box combo on is not in the directory as well as other companies Exchange servers... Yes, it is migration 'VM to UM' classic.

Are just the e-mail alias for voice only of e-mail users currently on the unit identical to the e-mail alias for corporate e-mail boxes? If so, DiRT runs like a champ in this scenario, because during the restoration he's looking for the users in the directory by their Id directory, then their RDN, then their mail alias - if a match is found on one of them that it binds to this user on the fly - if no match is found then it will create a new user in the directory.

If your e-mail alias does not match then you can always do a two step operation here - do the restoration of dirt (which will create new accounts) and use the tool to migrate data from the Subscriber to transfer the data of the unit to these new accounts to their appropriate corporate email account - this is preserver of all greetings voice names, passwords etc... Subscriber data migrate also has ExMerge built into it, so it can move messages and merge them into their e-mail so accounts (the same that dirt can do).

He is planning a white paper which can help a bit, although it is more for people deploy VM now and go UM later - in the case of the train left the station a little already but it can still be useful:

  • Satellite A10: How to use the restore CD?

    Hello everyone,

I would like to restore my Windows due to problems of somes, so I inserted the recovery of (1) CD. The partition of loading began but very slowly. After you insert the CD 2 ° (only after a couple of hours), I left it for a few hours. When I got home, the display shows the command-line C: >.
The command C: > dir /p gives something like

    Tools dir
    Restore.bat
    ....

Could someone what happened? What do I do now?

I thank very you much for any suggestions!

    Hi Torcy,

I would normally not more than 20-30 minutes to complete the recovery. The progress indicator should show a steady increase up to 50%, after which it should invite you to insert the second disk.

It is possible that you laptop has problems to write to the hard disk. You can check this by listening to a sound of rattling repeated during the restore process. It is also possible that your CD is having problems reading the recovery disks. Check them for dirt scratches or fingerprints.

  • Advise the dirt or FullDBImport...

    Ex2k3. CCM 4.0.2 (Sr1a) Unity 4,0000 SR1

    Current config is VM only.

My cust would like to switch to UNIFIED messaging, but here a small 1st pilot. I don't see any probs with this & will run both systems in tandem will be the configuration of Messaging voice ports\route lists actually as if unity servers are running failover mode (please notify if I do different).

Q: what is the best way to migrate users from the virtual computer on the UNIFIED Messaging server. I would of thought than a complete import/export db would map the accounts to better appropriate mailboxes have DiRT as there are some inconsistencies in user names. The problem here is that the installation must be clean & I already have configuration to users of the trial, so it does not work. I can to bulk import from AD, but users will have to re-register their greetings.

I just had a thought that I can build the server & install the unit & pop then a disc before I add all the users test, so I can do a clean import. I think that's enough the thing so the Q is should I use DiRT or Full Ex\Import DB?

Any advice greatly appreciated as never.

    See you soon,.

    NJ.

    Several things here.

1 FullDBImport/Export is used only for moving from 2.x to 3.x/4.x systems - this isn't an option here. Review the help of this tool here:

    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_full_import_export4x.htm

2 dirt manages changes in naming between the system that you have saved and the system alias that restore you. Plase check the help file for more details:

    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_DisasterRecoveryTools.htm

    3. you can move users one at a time between systems residing on the same manager subscriber Global Directory - does win their vows, the voice name, password, transfer settings etc. - you can view the help of this tool here:

    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_GSM4x.htm

If you are on different forests AD that you can use the dirt and it's really your only option.

If you are the "owner" of the shared album, then it is most likely that he is gone for good (the other is too peripheral).  You could try restoring a backup, even if a shared an element iCloud album then it may not be part of a backup.  May be worth it if you have a recent backup, which dates back to before remove you this album.

But if you have joined another album and then ask them to re - share with you who should get it back.
