Restore 7290 blackBerry smartphones go 7230 files

Hello

I just got a 7290 (and deleted and replaced the operating system, such as discussed in another thread) to replace my dying 7230. I have the backup of my 7230 files and want to restore my 7290 for my old addy book, etc.. The option is not available when I open the Desktop Manager. I know where the backup files. Also, I don't see the option to transfer files directly between phones.

Can I restore my 7290 with 7230 files?  How?

Thank you!

What version of the Blackberry Desktop Manager (also known as the Blackberry Desktop Software) do you use?

I recommend to download and use the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Software.

For now it's version 4.7

You can download it here:http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

Select Blackberry Desktop Software WITHOUT Media Manager

Before installing downloaded BB Desktop Software, do a clean uninstall of the previous application of desktop software.

  • Contacts of restoration of blackBerry Smartphones

My wife lost her tour of BB and we found another to replace it, but when I try to restore, he finds no info in Desktop Manager.  I think that the last time it synced and backed up, it was in the month of August.  I can find the files in a different location, but not all .idf file.  Can I restore the contacts of the .cod files? I found the files but you can't seem to recognize.

    Ron

No, cod files are backup files.

You have to search your entire PC for all files RPI, not the IDF files.

Then, when you go to restore, use the restore function to navigate to the latest IPD file that you find.

  • Problem of restoration of blackBerry Smartphones

Hi, I have tried other forums and thought I should try this as my last chance. Had a GSM blackberry 8800 Sprint, saved and sold the phone. I went and bought a Telus blackberry 8830 CDMA and attempted to restore all my data. A large part of it has been a success, but things like the calendar and the address book have not been successful. I went to advanced, backup and restore and discovered that I could not highlight and transfer TI (arrows would not highlight) to my BB. Basically, he said that some applications cannot be restored because it is set to wireless synchronization. I have DM 4.6 (later) and Device Software 4.2.2.196 (latest) on my 8830. I don't have an e-mail from the company, just a normal e-mail account linked to my BB. I don't see any options in my calendar and address book for wireless synchronization. In my service book, I don't see office {sync} or {cical} Desktop. These two things have been recorded in the support section for restoration problems. I hard reset my device a couple of times. I tried it on Windows XP and Vista. I tried the two Desktop Manager 4.6 and 4.2.2 (supplied with the CD). Here is a direct link to my help I received the last time http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8800-series-discussion/153223-restore-problem.html. I need help in the East to restore the calendar and the address book or at least read the IPD backup file somehow. I tried to solve this problem for a while now. I have provided all the information which is my knowledge and my help I received from others.

It would be a picture of me to try to transfer the address book.

It would be a successful transfer of my useless files that I just created

    I'd appreciate any help, thanks!

    Hello...

Another option is to use AMBER with outlook, if you can't get control of the BACKUP / ADVANCED.

    Link is here...

I use it at work and it works when you have exhausted all other options. (as we did on BBF)

After working with you on the other forum, I hope someone can ring here to determine why you cannot control this particular IPD!

  • Recovery blackBerry Smartphones BB9000 memopad files

My 9000 seems to have finally given upward, but only with the operation of the selection of push on the wheel... I can move laterally and upward and downwards, but can not select anything.  I can connect to my pc and see all the files.  I used the BB Desktop to back up my files but only see a .cab and .ipd files in the backup folder.  Can someone tell me how to recover the notes in Notepad?  I would really appreciate it.

In addition to the response of Krypto, there are solutions to extract information from the IPD files using a Windows PC. Check out this recent post by JSanders:

  • BlackBerry smartphones, deleting the files from music permanently

I've loaded about 3 000 songs on my Javelin and trimmed them up to about 1,000 of my absolute favorites. I tried to transfer to my computer in two ways... with Fund Manager and let XP do the work... but deleted music always comes again!

I tried a reset, reboot and everything I can think of doing the deletion of things go away, but it won't. Windows Media Player is on monitor only the new folder I created for Blackberry music, but my smartphone is quite smart to find all the stuff I was history.

My question: how the world can permanently delete you a file? I have checked the settings, but it can't know.

Thanks for any time you take to help out me.

If your music is on a media card, use Windows Explorer to view its contents and to view system and hidden files.

In each case, you will see a file named BBThumbs.dat. It's the indexing file, which contains information about the deleted files still. Just delete all the BBThumbs.dat files.

After unplugging the computer, when you enter the multimedia application, it will start again every 1000 remaining files from indexing. It may take some time but will end after a few minutes.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones opening media files

Using the BlackBerry Media Manager I transferred a number of audio files for my BlackBerry Curve. However, I don't seem to be able to play them. I did the following: during the transfer, I chose the conversion proposed for optimal playback. When I view the files on my BlackBerry (adding them as an attachment to an e-mail), I see that they are found on my press card and have the .m4a format, similar to other files that I can play. Mass storage mode (never used yet) my pocket computer is not connected to my computer. Also, I had a number of songs (albums) on my handheld I used to be able to access but cannot anymore, even if I see that they are still on my press card. Any suggestions?

After the download of several multimedia files on your Blackberry, sometimes you have to do a reset. It is done to remove the battery while the blackberry is in place, wait a bit, then plug it back. Your Blackberry will start up (can take up to a few minutes), then see if your files are better.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones download Word files on the BB with device software 4.5

Hello. I just upgraded my HH to 4.5 and our BES to 4.1.6. (Bundle38). I myself have sent an email with a Word attachment to test. When I tried to download the file on my HH, I received this message: "you are about to download a file that cannot be played on your Blackberry device. Continue? "I clicked 'Yes' and it looks like it's uploaded in the documents folder. When I opened the file, nothing here? I missed a step or what? Thank you!

You will not see "dataviz' listed anywhere on your BB... Look at Options > Advanced > Applications and find DocumentsToGo?

If not, reopen the Desktop Manager > Application Loader and find the Advanced button and check DocumentsToGo.

  • BlackBerry smartphones copy PC files

I want to only copy the media files from my PC to my BlackBerry. I'm a bit hesitant because I use BES to load the software CD and retrieve messages from company of my mailbox exchange on the BB.  If I load the software could it affect my automatic receipt of Email?

Are you placing them on a memory card or just the memory of BlackBerry?

l is recommended to buy a microSD card to store your multimedia files, if you run out of memory on your device.

According to what your BlackBerry OS is tells you what size microSD card you can buy. You can check under Options | Topic (will appear as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the table on the following link to see what size you can get - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461

On the BlackBerry, go to Options | Media Media Card recommended parameters are:

    Media card support: WE
    Encryption mode: NO
    Mass storage support: WE
Auto enable mass storage Mode when connected: YES

Mass storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when it is connected to your PC. It will appear as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you can just drag/release the multimedia files on your memory card

  • BlackBerry smartphones my 7230 has no browser?

Hey guys this is my first post.
I just got a Blackberry 7230 RIM and the ladie that put in place an at & t says to call 611 to configure the browser. We did, and they could not help at all. When I go to Options > Applications > it says browser and its 4.0. But there is no icon on the main screen. I have only two options for the browser. the browser option: when I open it it just says: "the default browser configuration" and nothing is selectable. and the Push browser option, which has a lot of controls. Since I didn't have a browser I downloaded Opera Mini 3 on my phone, and it may not always connect. It says "change internet settings.
Anyway, is there a way I can activate my browser on my phone or download the original browser?

    Thank you.

In order to get a browser need a BlackBerry data Plan through your carrier.

In regards to the opera, you need the parameters ATT found Options > TCP settings.

  • BlackBerry smartphones open the file extension. BBB for my torch 9630

I need to open my backup files but the extension. BBB is not recognized.

Hello and welcome to the community!

The backup files are proprietary, intended only to serve as a source of data for the restoration of a BB. Therefore, they are not readable on the computer. But there are many 3rd party computer there applications that can analyze and present data in human readable format... search (e.g., Google) and you will find, I am sure.

    Good luck!
