  I have a dial connection whenever I try to connect to the internet, I get an error message saying that the remote computer has failed.

  I XP MS and connection to the internet has always been a bit hit and Miss. Impossible with aol, fine with BT I now live somewhere with blue cable installed there and have had problems since.

  I tried a virus with a startup disk check - nothing. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the latest version. I'm trying to get hold of an external modem to check if my modem. I don't really know about these things, but certainly a modem no longer works or it's not - there is not between the two?
