Restore an external hard drive

Hello

I can restore old rman backup on external hard drive with USB3? the database size is 430 GB.

Thank you.

I've never tried, but I hope that the answer is no.

I did, and unfortunately, the answer is 'Yes' ;-)

RMAN has not all opinions on where you restore your backups, as long as there is addressable space in your system (which is mounted with a path or a letter, depending on your operating system).
However, I would not do this on a production system, only for the creation of backup/recovery audit/development system.

  • How to restore Toshiba external HARD drive information system?

I use macbook aluminum. When I insert my Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive 320 GB (ext. HDD 2.5 ") 3 on my laptop the time machine automatically ask me if I want to use the hard drive as backup. I accidentally said yes and allow him to erase all information from the hard drive and now my only computer can read the disc hard and another laptop / pc can't read.

So where can I re-download or reinstall back my Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive 320 GB system information (ext. HDD 2.5 ") 3 so that other computer can read?

Please help me, bought just for 2 days.

    Hello

I m not sure but I think to me it s no longer tied to your laptop and has nothing to do with Toshiba. Maybe you use the file system that can be read by other computers (Windows)?

If you connect to the Windows computer, you can see the disk in disk management?

  • Cannot restore to external hard drive

    Hi all

I use Premiere Pro for a while, and I'm pretty comfortable with it. However, I could not yet find a way to make an external hard drive. Every time I make it says that there are approximately 32 GB of free space to return in. But my external hard drive has 1.42 TB of free space.

I have chaged the location of "Media Cache files" on the external drive.

I changed the location of "Media Cache database" on the external drive.

Every time I make again, he says there is only 32 GB of free space on my computer. I really need to be able to return on the external hard drive, because I work with a large amount of high quality video every day.

Is it possible to make in my external hard drive?

    Thank you!

Wow, I actually just found the solution.

If you go to the project settings and in the tab "Scratch the disc" change them to locations on your external drive return on your external drive.

I've just 'refreshed' Firefox and lost ALL my passwords, even if the instructions said that they would be saved. I tried to copy it in the folder of old data from Firefox and it does NOTHING. I have all the data I need on an external hard drive and the ability to navigate (already found my Firefox profile on the backup drive) and to copy and paste data from this drive on my C drive. I'll be more than happy to just restore my old profile even if that slow Firefox. It would be a small price to pay, but I must have bookmarks in return. Help, please!

Hi, in case bookmarks trying to open the profile folder, then find the folder called "bookmarkbackups". Use the most recent file to restore bookmarks menu favorites - all bookmarks - import and backup - restore.

  • How can I restore my backup files on an external hard drive using Windows XP SP3?

I back up my files to an external hard drive using windows XP sp2. My pc crashed and re installed with Windows XP sp3. Now I can't find the backup on the system tools utility. How can I restore my backup files. Help, please.

    Hi PML.

Yes, I used the built in «Back to the top of the tool» Unfortunately I don't have the CD. My Netbook is a HP mini computer that comes with Windows XP home. Thank you for your help and I hope to hear from you again.

How do you reinstall Windows?  If you have used the HP Recovery system to recover from a hidden partition, backup should have been reinstalled.

I suggest you call HP support.

    Hello

You can restore files from a BKF file on an external hard drive on the computer by using the Windows XP Backup Wizard. The Backup Wizard is installed by default in Windows XP Professional, but not in XP Home. XP Home users can install it from an installation of Windows XP Edition family CD.

Follow the steps mentioned below and check if the problem persists.

    a. install the backup on Windows XP Edition family Wizard, if it is not installed. Record of the family place of the Windows XP Setup CD in the hard disk of the computer and install the wizard by clicking "Start", click "My computer," double-click the CD icon in the window my computer, double-click the "ValueAdd", by double-clicking on the folder "Msft", by double-clicking "Ntbackup" and clicking on "NTBackup.msi."

    b. connect the external hard drive to the computer.

    c. open the Backup Wizard by clicking on "Start", "All programs", "Accessories," "System Tools" and "Backup".

    d. click "Next" in the Welcome window.

    e. click "Restore files and settings", then click "next".

    f. click "Browse" in the window "to restore", click "Browse" in the "Open file Backup" window, click on 'My Computer', double-click the hard drive and double-click the BKF file.

    g. click the boxes left the files desired under "What to restore," then click "next".

    h. start the transfer by clicking on "Finish".

    i. click 'Close' when prompted.

  • I bought a 500 GB external hard drive and did a full system backup. Then he told me that I need a floppy disk? After backup system restore was complete. What?

I had a scare last week and thought that my computer crashed.  In the end, everything was fine, but I decided I had to do a full backup of the system.  Bought 500 GB external hard drive.  Full backup of the system ran through the performance Wizard mode & maint.  When finished, he gave me a saying of the warning, something like "insert a diskette to run the system restore" something like that.  Does this mean that if I have a major failure which is on the external hard drive is null and avenue?  Floppy?  What is everything?

The disk is a boot disk that is used to access the backup files.

  • How to restore vista OPS hard drive external bitlocker encrypted after main disk failure

I am running Vista Ultimate and my main hard drive is encrypted by Bitlocker.  I use the backup utility in Vista for backup of that my drive hard main set on a USB attached hard drive which is also encrypted by Bitlocker.  In a case of failure of the primary hard drive and installing a new hard drive, how can I restore my main hard drive (the new drive) to the USB attached bitlocker encrypted external hard? My vista ultimate OPS has been upgraded to the origin of vista home premium and so I did not have the ultimate Setup DVD disk.  I have the disk of vista Home premium.

Create a recovery disk that the restoration of the backup complete on this topic option (including family Vista drive premium will be not because this option is only available on the Enterprise and Ultimate versions)-should not do anything on bitlocker on it (which will take care of itself during the restore process unless you configure to use a flash drive for protection - then the flash player is also required {but) not a recovery disk different}).  You can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (including backup complete PC Restore).  Be sure to get the drive to boot correctly - there are several ways to make records and this requires a way for it to work (but those that are included in the manual or on the website).

For more information, here's a great article on bitlocker with Vista.   It does not exactly cover your question, but it is very instructive in the process and the technology (and might help you if you are facing a problem on the road) and its good information to have if you use bitlocker (which can be difficult and can cause problems of recovery if you do not just because of the extra complication of encryption (backup and restore). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.06.bitlocker.aspx.

    I hope this helps.

  • Try to restore supported files on an external hard drive.

I have a Windows VIsta operating system that crashed this past year.  But just before losing, I used the center of restoration with the Windows backup utility to back up our files.  I supported it up to an external hard drive, Toshiba (E :).   I see the backup of my files on the external hard drive E: but when I go back to Windown backup and Restore Center to restore the files (even with the attached external hard drive) the restore program is not recognizing backup. I am trying to extract the files to my new hard drive.  Pls note that I didn't simply copied and past.  All files are compressed in a Formate of backup on the external drive.  Any suggestions?

  • Can I restore my laptop hard drive files that have been moved to my external hard drive (who subsequentally has stopped working)?

I cut and pasted and then a few important files from my laptop on an external hard drive. Since the external hard drive stopped working. Is it possible to find the files that have been moved?

    Thank you!

(More info: I tried to recover the files from external hard disk but it requires a physical recovery and would cost over $ 1000, which I did not; also unfortunately I don't think I created backup via the "backup and Restore Center" files in the control panel).

It depends on how long you have moved the files, and how the computer has been used since.

If you have Vista Business, Ultimate or enterprise, you can use the previous versions.

    Hello

read this tutorial on how to do

To restore a full backup of the computer, you must proceed within the Windows recovery environment. To access the Windows recovery environment, you will need to insert your Vista DVD in the DVD drive on your computer and turn on your computer. The computer starts and you see the BIOS lists the hardware on your computer, and other information. When this information has been disabled, your computer will see that a bootable DVD is inserted and present a prompt similar to the Figure 1 below.
