Restore computer;

I am trying to restore the computer and get an error message 0 x 8070005; the HP Support Assistant does not work and I need to perform a restore. It's really frustrating because the computer is NEW!

Hi and thanks. So I got in touch with HP Support and it ended with the return of the computer - this is an error that could not be repaired. I'm so glad it wasn't me and now I have the same model and everything works fine.

Good luck and thanks a lot!

  • Runtime error in Mozilla after restoring computer to an earlier date,

I recently had to restore my computer to an earlier date. In doing so, Firefox went from 38.0.1 to 37.0.2. Now, I get the error "cannot find Mozilla runtime. I am out, trying to find a way to fix it. I have quite a few bookmarks that I prefer not to lose. I thought I could import to Internet Explorer but not had any luck with either. Have no solution? Thank you. I am posting this on another computer where is the problem. This computer is running Windows 8.1.

Using the system restore can cause your installation of Firefox get corrupted because only the whitelist files are restored, so always be careful with the system restore function.

    • You may lose data in the profile Firefox as of .js and .ini files folder
    • You may need to reinstall the affected software

Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.

If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.

    • Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.

Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    • (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    • (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.

  • Just had to restore, computer not charge not updated...

I'm running a SE DV2745 from HP with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit purchased in February 2008, I had to do a full restore and the computer will have no updates. It will not take an update for Windows Vista for Defender. I'm trying to download SP1 manually for Vista, but need help more what to do if it works now. Thank you very much! Help, please! This is the second time in 2 months that I had to restore and no update will not work. I had to restore now a time of secoind bc the computer crashed, I guess because of the lack of updates.

... I've added a McCafee Security Suite, I have a subscription for. He had pre installed Norton and Defender is now updated as well.

Norton applications are notorious for not to uninstall "cleanly". Assuming that your uninstalled Norton free trial before installing the McAfee software, you must also run a removal tool to get rid of all the "leftovers"... Norton

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

Now, your computer should be ready for Vista SP2:

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2). This support, initially planned to end on November 26, 2009, has been postponed until February 26, 2010, so move on! Availability of support chat or messaging differs depending on your location. • How to restore computer to XP

So we had a Dell XPS 400 getting a new hard drive and I decided I wanted to upgrade to Vista. I made the mistake of thinking that the CD in the Anytime upgrade was the complete thing. Now, the trial has expired and I can't understand how to restore it back to XP. I run the computer in safe mode, there is no internet, and it does not accept CD or usb devices. I tried to restore the normal system when you start the computer, but he asks the administrator password. I type in and it says it is invalid. I even opened the secret admin in Vista and still nothing. I NEED HELP!

  • Space minimum drive - how to restore computer to factory settings

I have a toshiba Satellite Pro A200 on Vista. Vista came preloaded and I not all disks for it. I got it from the new (Sept 2007). The hard disk is divided into units. Recently my C drive has filled competely and I now no space left (went 55gigs) I store some data in this drive. All my multimedia elements (music, photos, and other files) is in my E drive. I have to run C Cleaner whenever I start in order to have enough space for the operation of the computer. I also remove all but the last restore point in order to function.

I am at my wits end and think I must have a virus or something. Is there a way to restore the computer to the 'new '? I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive, so I don't mind from scratch. Not keeping in mind I have no install discs as Vista came preloaded.

Can anyone help? Please, I beg you!

Most laptops and many OEM desktop computers (HP, Sony, etc.) come with a picture of factory restore on a special partition on the hard drive. The factory restore process is normally called by pressing a key of function (such as F11) to start the computer. There will be a message as to what function key press the screen when you start your computer. You can also consult the manual of your computer or the computer mftr.'s site, or contact technical support to learn how to restore your computer if you plant from each computer mftr. He does it differently - sometimes even between models.

These machines also generally have a utility to create physical recovery disks in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somewhat damaged. If you have not created the recovery image recovery physical and/or damaged disks, contact technical support of computer mftr. to order a set of recovery disks. It is normally very expensive, around $20-25. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • restored computer thinks I have installed programs, but they are not

I had to wipe my hard drive to the Mac and to restore from my Time Machine backup because of the problems I had. Even if I restored it Time machine, my adobe applications have been installed on my computer. I'm about a week into a one month trial membership. I went online and reinstalled Adobe Application Manager. That is to say my programs are up to date, but they are no where on my computer. It won't let me not re - download from the internet either. I think he still thinks that they are on my computer.

Anyone know how I can get these programs on my computer?

    Thank you!

    Katie

Nevermind I fixed it by erasing my hard drive again and restore the original operating system without my Time Machine backup restore.

  • Reinstall Office Suite after the restore computer to factory settings

I had to restore my laptop to its factory settings because of a corrupted registry.  The operating system is Microsoft Vista Home Premium, and more desktop I want to reinstall is Office home and Student 2007.  I inserted the disc and rises the .exe file, but it will be only to configure the system.  The applications are not installed.  Or bring it to the top of the window with the license agreement, or a dialog box to enter my product key.  I tried to run the Setup for the individual applications (e.g., Word) files and I got an error.

Your machine initially has any Office Suite, perhaps a trial, pre-installed?  Is there something in the Control Panel / programs and features, which relates to the office?

When you insert your CD it offers it the window of Autorun with the option to 'Explore' the files on the CD?  If so do you see a Setup.exe in the first visible display of the CD Explorer window.  If so do you have a better result if you right click on a Setup.exe it and select the option "Run As Administrator"?

Try to go to start | Run and type msconfig and disable all startup items and restart.  Then click Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Cleaning disc and run that.  This makes restart and see if its more quickly.  If this isn't the case, then you must scan the system against viruses and malware, which are usually items that slow down the system.
