I doubt that anything useful can be extracted from a thumbs.db
file, but perhaps worth a try the following utilities
(a free... a not free).

Thumbnail Database Viewer (free)
(can be used in forensic analysis of the thumbs.db)
http://www.ITSamples.com/thumbnail-database-viewer.html
(unzip the file and run it... No installation required...
just drag & drop your files thumbs.db in the right pane.)

DM Thumbs is a viewer for thumbs.db files
and files of thumbcache Vista (not free)

    Hi sutterrot,

After a conversion from PDF to Word, you can download the converted file locally on your computer.

You can then select the "Enable editing" button and then remove images/texts or make any other changes.

  • restore sequence from an export file

I have an export of 3 patterns, which was done a few months back. I want to only restore sequences is there some way I can pull the DLL in the export file so I can delete and re-create or IMPDP allows to create sequences

With impdp, you can use the INCLUDE options you define only want to get the sequences and the SQLFILE option to generate the ddl and not download them from the database, from there you can use/edit the sql file, for example: include = SEQUENCE sqlfile = seq_output.sql

    Hope that helps,

  • Restore photos from a previous user account

Happy New Year to the team at Microsoft

I created a new administrator account I didn't know would replace the account already on the computer.

Bascially what I want to do is to retrieve all the photos that I have uploaded to this account on the new account and after attempts of serval location and research. NOTHING

    I hope you can help

    See you soon
    Sam from Auckland

I am not a member of a team of Microsoft, but maybe can help you anyway. When you create a new user account, it does not replace the old. The only way your photos could be deleted is if you have removed the old user account.

What may happen, it is that you have XP Pro or Media Center and have been using the account administrator for your daily work. Then you created a second administrative user account and the built-in administrator became hidden. This is normal. You can log into the administrator by Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the Welcome screen. This will lead you to the classic logon box where you can type in "Administrator" for the user name and any password assigned you (or leave it blank for no password). Then, you can enable the administrator on the homescreen icon if you want. I leave the second administrative account to save for emergencies. You don't want the administrative account only on the system or the built-in administrator that you use for your daily work.

  • Transfer photos from a backup file?

My computer has been replaced recently and all my documents and photographs have been transferred and are found in a backup file on my new computer. Photos of 5000 + were all in different folders and subfolders. When I transferred to 9 elements, however, the photos were all in chronological order rather than in folders that I originally placed in. How can I transfer photos that will remain in the files that have already been marked?

Click on the Display button (close to upper-right in the menu Organizer) and select display folder location.

  • import photos from usb in the files and store them in folders

I have pictures files created on a pc and stored on a USB key.

I want to create a library for these pictures and retain their position in folders

I imported the Photos, but they are sorted by date with no option to change.

Is there a way to keep records and bring them to Photos?

Pictures folders cannot contain pictures, only the albums containing photos.  There is an Applescript script in the Photos for Mac usage tips section which allows you to import the pictures folders from your hard drive in the library of Photos and make them into albums with the same name as the folder.  You can get it here: Photos for Mac: File Import of Image files in the library as Albums

The Photos window sorts the photos by date they were taken and are called Moments.  The window of all sorts photos by date imported into the library with the most recent at the bottom of the window.

Moments in Photos are new events, i.e. groups of photos sorted by date of catch.

When the iPhoto library has been migrated first to the pictures there is a folder created in the box titled iPhoto events and all migrated iPhoto events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in this folder. Use the Command + Option + S key combination to open the sidebar if it is not already open.

NOTE: it has been reported by several users that if the albums of the event are moved in the iPhoto Library folder in the sidebar, they disappear.  It is not widespread, but several users have reported this problem.  Therefore, if you want to if ensure that you keep these event albums do not transfer out of the iPhoto events folder.

Is there a way to simulate events in pictures.

When new photos are imported in the library of Photos, go to the smart album last import , select all the photos and use the file menu option ➙ New Album or use the key combination command + N.  Call it what you want.  It appears just above the folder to iPhoto events where you can drag it into the events in iPhoto folder

When you click on the folder to iPhoto events, you will get a window simulated of iPhoto events.

Albums and smart albums can be sorted by title, by Date, with the oldest first and by Date with the most recent first.

  • Whenever I have move photos from one folder to another file, the picture is no longer accessible.

I use Windows XP - perfectly up-to-date.  Whenever I have move photos from one folder to another file, the picture is no longer available and cannot be removed with using unlocker.  This has happened for several years.  I copy pictures and new folders whenever I want to move them, but sometimes I forget and move them and then I lose the picture I'm trying.  I also noticed that there is a strange file that opens in the trash that won't let me remove it without using unlocker. These files start with "Dd" followed be a number.  When I delete these use unlocker, another will appear the a different number on this subject.  It is a very maddening problem.  It is not possible for me to do a system restore because it lasts for quite awhile.  Please help - I'm tired of losing pictures that I can't replace.  Thank you for your help.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • photos have disappeared and all I see is a thumbs.db file

Some of my photos disappeared randomly and now all I see is a thumbs.db file in the folder. I am the only person who uses this computer and I did not remove the pictures of theses. I tried a search, but I'm still not able to locate them.

    Hi Dfiore,

    1. what changes have you made on the computer before photos disappear from the computer?

    2. it happens with all types of files on the computer?

Thumbs.DB is a hidden file that contains thumbnails of the pictures stored in a folder.

The option must search the images on the computer.

I also suggest that you scan and remove any malware or computer virus infections and check if it helps.

  • How can I move music and photos from my MacBook on an external hard drive, files without deleting the existing NTFS files stored on it?

    Hello.

I am aware that this issue (or different versions of it) will be requested a thousand times before, but after searching on the internet for a solution, I have been unable to find all the information that brings a simple clear answer that is specific to my problem and so thought I would ask the question myself.

I recently bought a Toshiba 1 TB external hard drive to transfer music, photo files and internal document in front of the memory of my old PC running Windows, as well as files, music and photos from my existing MacBook Pro, so I can "release" the memory on the latter.

Transfer files from the old PC proved to be easy; success achieved by simple drag / drop the files to the appropriate location on the external HD icon of Toshiba which appears once I connected to a USB port. It is perhaps worth mentioning that the area of States hard drive has been formatted NTFS for Windows, and so I guess that I would not have expected any problems when transferred to a PC.

Move the files from my MacBook has however proved anything but simple and trying to drag the respective music and photo files and drop them on the HD Toshiba icon (which appears on my desktop once it is plugged), I seem to be affected by the same issues as so much seems to have it before me, in that "forbidden access" / error symbol appears with the cursor , and bounce the files to their original location whenever I try to place them on the Toshiba HD.

I understand that this is due to the HD is formatted in NTFS, and that I would need to reformat the hard drive to move files from my MacBook, which brings me to my questions:-

    (a) how do I do this, and

    (b) can I do this without losing, damage or remove the NTFS files from my old PC, which are already stored on the external hard drive.

If one is able to offer any assistance, in the most simple, easy to follow the description, I would be really grateful!

Never been so thanks in advance!

1 install software such as Paragon NTFS on the Mac and let the reader in its current form or from the Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open disk utility and reformat.

    2. that by putting a copy on another drive. You should do this anyway, in case of failure of this drive.

  • How can I restore my bookmarks from an HTML file?

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04, and I want to restore my bookmarks from an HTML file.

This used to be accessible through the "bookmarks - > organize bookmarks ' menu item 'Organize bookmarks' no longer exists so I'm stuck.

This help system seems to think that there is, however, so please note that on my system, it isn't. I suspect that hundreds, thousands or even millions of new users of Ubuntu 11.04 will have exactly the same problem.

I don't think that users will be able to help with this one, unless someone knows how to restore the menu item 'Organize Favorites '. It is the only one that will do what I want and so there is no point recommending "Show all bookmarks" as a solution. It does not work.

Finally, persuade this system that I don't really have a new problem that are not addressed in the FAQ section has been a very irritating experience. I wonder if Chrome will know what to do with my file "bookmarks.html"?

"Bookmarks > organize bookmarks ' has been renamed to"show all bookmarks"in Firefox 4.

If the menu bar is hidden, and then click the Firefox button to open the Firefox menu and click the bookmarks entry or click "Show all bookmarks" to open the library.

  • Photo of transfer of files from one library to another library

How can I transfer files from photo from one library to another library?

    Thank you for your response.

You can transfer photos, but lose the history, etc. by exporting an import in another - the only way to really move photos between libraries keep everything is to use the paid version of PowerPhotos which has many other features and is a utility that is recommended to have with Photos

  • How to download photos from my iPhone in the form of files on my computer to keep permanently?

Glance. I had a very difficult time, you try to transfer all my photos on iCloud/iPhone to my computer.

I've had my iPhone for a few years now (I got the 5 c in 2013 and I did not get a new since then), and I went on some trips and have made a lot of memories. So, naturally, I took a lot of pictures. I have about 2200 photos in my iCloud and I received an email telling me that I'll be running out of storage quickly, which makes sense. I want to erase the photos from iCloud to free up storage space, but I don't want to lose my pictures.

I tried manually download them all from the website of iCloud as files on my computer, which was extremely tedious, because there is no button 'select all'... but my computer started to panic in the process and I only got 303 of them downloaded. I tried to download an app to transfer everything, but it didn't work. I have the option in the Photos app on my computer to save the original photos on my Macbook, but it doesn't work how I expect of him, it is also synced my iPhone: if I remove it from the phone, it deletes it on my computer.

I really want a permanent solution. It would be a pity to lose two years of memories, simply because technology is stupid. What I need, it's to be a way to download my iPhone to my computer photos so I can erase my iCloud stuff but be able to still have my photos as files on the real computer. Is there a way to do this?

I think the easiest way would be to plug your iPhone on Mac and use Image Capture to transfer in the Photos App. You could also use iCloud photo library and set it to keep the originals on your computer and optimize the storage on your phone, but it looks like you would have to pay for more storage for this iCloud as a viable option for you.

  • How can I change my photos of the PDF to JPEG? When I try to print photos from my computerl I get the message that the file is a postscript.

O.K.   I can't print photos from my computer.   When I find a picture & click on 'print', I get the message that the image is a postscript file.  How can I change the @# $$ %% @ * thing back to where it is a jpeg image?

Click Start > run > type CMD > Ok. Command prompt opens. On the command line type or paste each of the commands below, one at a time, pressing ENTER after each command. Restart the computer and attempt to print the photos.

    Assoc.JPEG = jpegfile

    Assoc.jpg = jpegfile

In addition, what makes you think that file associations have been changed to PDF format? You can right click on the files in question > will the properties and the file type. It would be very strange for jpeg files have been changed to PDF format. Possible but, strange.
