  • automate restore usb

    I edited "USB drive\Dell_Tools\start.cmd" to launch "x:\windows\system32\Restore_Tool.exe".

Will there be options from command line for "Restore_Tool.exe" to specify the location of the wim file and auto-restarting once the restoration is complete?

I have driver needed copied to "USB drive\Dell_Driver_CABS_Local\.." already cabins.

I was basically looking for a way to restore an image of a PC by booting to usb and then walk.

    Hi toycoma.

Reference Dell Image help does not provide a restore process to automated image other than the DVD Architect tool.  We will look at the USB and network options for future versions of the tool.  For the moment, our team of Dell Image Management Services may be engaged for a fee-based service to help apply an automated USB or network restoration based solution to help the Image.  If you are interested, please contact our Image Management Services in the region appropriate below.

  • Aspire V5 - 471P restore to clean the hard disk - Windows 8

My son has a laptop Aspire V5 - 471P identical to mine (I liked it and it seemed easier to maintain two identical pieces). Bought off eBay sound but mine was new.  Unfortunately his hard drive failed, so I'm not going to adapt to a new.

The V5 does not come with restore discs but mine can do a restore USB or can I clone my hard drive.  I prefer the latter option, so I can't go through the palaver to install all software, but I wonder if I can get a team when it comes to recording.

What should I do as Windows registry is concerned?  There is no license key based on the laptop or on the guarantee and the narrow.

I suggest that you create a backup media on your work machine restore as soon as possible.
Otherwise, you would need to buy media from Acer.
I don't know about V5 but my required Acer as a DVD, but also the USB stick for the game. When you create the set you will be shown the requirement for your machine.
You can use the media created on both of your machines. There should be no need to worry about recording. This is happening automatically that the OEM key is embedded in the machine - Microsoft has eliminated the need of stickers and therefore are no longer used. Note that if you use Windows media from a different source, it will require the serial number of this version - the embedded key will not work.

  • System Dell DataSafe recovery media will not identify key USB

I am trying to create a system restore USB recovery and DataSafe does not recognize my USB.  I use a 16g SanDisk Cruzer stick, and it does not recognize any of the 4 ports USB (2.0) on my system I use it (No. USB key ' detected').  My system recognizes the stick very well... I can drag and drop onto the key using Windows Explorer.  I tried to format the stick in NTFS or FAT32 and still no go.  Well, to tell you the truth, I guess I can go out and get another USB key.  In fact, DataSafe acknowledges a Lexar stick I have, but it's just a stick of 1 g and I came out and me a larger stick knowing at least 9g would be necessary.  DataSafe does not recognize that SanDisk USB sticks that anyone knows of?  Did I just waste $ 10 on a USB?

    02TBIRD,

You can find the version number of Dell backup and recovery by opening the application by clicking on the "?" in the upper right corner and go to the 'about '.  If your version number is older than 1.6.2.4, you must click on the "Update" tile in the main screen.

We have solved many problems of detection of backup and restore Dell v1.6.2.4 USB.

When you go to the "Update" page, make sure that the "Automatically check updates" is checked.  In this way, you will automatically get updates as we post them.

  • Install Windows 7 on the new hard drive with USB operating system recovery?

I have an Alienware 2015 15 which does not come with a CD player. I install a new hard drive (SSD 2280 m2), so the question is how to install WIndows 7.

While Microsoft offers an OS IOS for WIndows 8 download that you can put on a USB (with dell, I think that it automatically pulls the product key of BONE off the coast of the motherboard?) this IOS download is not available for Windows 7.

So the question is the recovery USB OS offered by dell will allow me to do a fresh install of Windows 7 on a new hard drive in the laptop even USB from recovery of the BONES came with. My last resort is to buy a new copy of windows 7 and a USB external CD/DVD drive.

TLDR: OS Recovery USB offered by dell will install Windows 7 on a new hard drive.

The factory restore USB will work on another drive. I did this procedure with the media created from the latest version of Dell backup and restore on my Inspiron 13 7347 and demonstrated the creation of media and installation on a new SSD:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/Dell-backup-and-recovery/

Since you are using use Alienware Alienware Respawn. Alienware respawn is very similar to Dell backup and restore.

  • Using the system on a Dell XPS 13 restore

I have a Dell XPS 13 purchased this year. I am interested in installing Ubuntu (the image of Sputnik or vanilla 12.04). I'm working on how I could restore the original image of Windows 8. I created a restore USB drive but I can't find useful information about how to use the restore disc. How can I boot the disk so that it can restore my system?

I would also like to keep my partitions recovery and restore of partitions. Is this possible? I tried to access the startup recovery programs upward but can't find any restore options.

System recovery without using Windows on Dell XPS 13 seems to be a feature not documented - can someone help me?

(Otherwise I am very satisfied with the machine.)

not sure, but I think that this video can enlighten us on what's going on?

    cs_setInnerHtml ('video_db9c0568-d9d6-4cde-8e1f-cb630ec42ab8', ");

Apparently, you must disable secure startup before trying to boot from the restore disc...

  • Imaging problem

I have a Pavilion hpe-h8-1030.  My C drive becomes flaky I want either image or clone the drive to another.  However, when I run the software, (3) drives are RAID overall and are unselectable.  As all three Seagate drives, I used their software, being able to select a source drive but cannot select the destination drive.  It seems to me, to the eye without instruction, the problem may come from all drives (USB drives are very good and can be selected) are tied up in the RAID configuration and are therefore not available.  If so, can I somehow disable the RAID configuration?  I also tried to install the destination as an external USB drive, but it remained unselectable.  After that a broad error with support Seagate, the only thing that can seem to work is to start from scratch, reinstalling the operating system and from there, something I do not.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Found the solution!  Splash screens pass so fast that sometimes I can't read them.  Finally, to see the screen that says I had a MBR ERR3.  I ran the restore USB and fixed the MBR.  Now, all the disks are visible.  I want to thank you for your time and your advice with my problem.

    Thank you

  • HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC TS: Accidentally deleted D drive with system recovery files

I accidentally deleted my D drive that contains system files to restore my computer to factory settings, I did however do a restore USB drive system, can I put it on my D drive and it works the same way?

    Herb, welcome to the forum.

I don't think that you can move the recovery partition of the USB hard disk.  The D: partition is restored when you perform a recovery of the system using the USB drive, however.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • Remove Windows 10 Technical Preview of HP 7 stream

I bought my HP Jet 7 to try to the Technical Preview, but I wanted to also make sure that I could go home to 8.1 if necessary.  I created a recovery drive, attach it via a USB OTG cable, but if I leave power + volume down or in the menu settings Windows Update 10 and recovery, I encounter the same endless loop:

    1. choose your type of keyboard (I select 'US')

    2. choose an option (I have to select "use a device")

3 use a device (I select "EFI USB Device")

4 restarts, go to the logo HP and spinning in circles and brings back me to the screen "select your keyboard type.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Looks like I did a restore USB recovery in December reading this thread:

"I created the USB recovery, wiped the MEM set in own car and then restored the tablet in the USB factory setting so I can attest that it works well. To start the restore, press the power button and when you see the backlight, press the volume button low rocker and select the boot F9 option and select the USB stick to boot from. "The recovery partition is also restored so you can create another copy of the recovery media if you wish."

Maybe you should try to wipe the entire disk clean up first?  You can start Windows 10 USB and go to Advanced Options and he has the option to remove all partitions.

  • HP Probook 470 G2: Recovery 8.1 of Windows on a new drive

I have a HP Probook 470 G2. The original disk is fine, but I want to migrate to an SSD. I did a restore USB and replaced with a 120 GB SSD HD. It is much less than the size of the windows on the original disk partition so I don't see a problem with that.

Having exchanged the disks and booted from the USB, I chose "reset windows" and everything seems to go well until 74% when I'm "there was a problem of resetting your PC", with an option to restart.

I found a thread here where there are similar symptoms, but because I am using a new drive I don't think I can replace the drive in the middle of the recovery.

I saw some videos on YouTube that show a HP Recovery Manager in Windows itself (which I don't have) or in the screens according to press F11, and I don't understand that either.

I have to correct, then restart. Choice of troubleshooting, I get Refresh (does not work, because the disc is empty), refresh (arrives at 74% as I said) and advanced. Advanced led system, System Image recovery restore settings, Start Up repair, prompt command or UEFI firmware.

As I have said that there is no HP recovery in Windows itself, I used a Windows procedure, but he said the HP Recovery disc in the middle of the construction so I assumed that he had built himself ok. It's driving me crazy now, should not it lasts migrate to a better record, but I have not found a conclusive answer via Google or HP pages where my post here.

Any ideas? My position of strength, it's that I still have the HARD intact original disc so I did not burn bridges.

OK, so you pouvez use a recovery USB disk to install on a smaller disk. It's just that something was wrong with my recovery USB drive. I have a friend (with the same laptop) to create a recovery on his drive and it worked.

  • PE autonomous creative keys

Is it possible to have a standalone installer for the component of creating PE key? Full layout Image help requires a computer is not linked to a domain, but I may need some of my sites of the company have perform refreshes local using Image help and I want to create their own media if possible PE but these technicians has maybe not the ability to disassemble their field to create restore usb support.

If there is a switch or something that can be done during the installation of the Image, help tools that allows to bypass the domain check that might be useful as well.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and your time.

    Sincerely,

    Mark O'Grady

Hi Marc, thanks for the request.  We develop this feature as well as a few other new features allowing the capabilities of failure / more effective localized repair.

To let you know, the use of ImageAssist for the deployment of failure / local repair, as defined in the USE license requires "..." You can not and will not allow a third party to... "H use the software for any internal deployment or other use internal which do not directly pass and facilitate the submission of an image to Dell as part of the purchase and use of the services, or (I) use the software to create a competitive offer or provide to any third party, nor any other third party, access to the software that translates into the creation of a competitive offer."

To break it down, if you use ImageAssist to deploy locally, you should be buying our factory with your image systems pre-loaded.  In addition, 3rd parties shouldn't be using it unless approved by Dell.
