RGB CMYK preview

I've done a few ring reading and realized that printing CMYK somewhat tarnishes my stuff and wanted a whole solution for it. I work in mode CMYK completely or I work in RGB and then making adjustments in the file after the converted to CMYK, which is tedious. Or I could use the pantone color chart to get to the closest I want. Also have my calibrated monitor. Instead, I thought that if I can see the CMYK colorpsace while working in RGB, it would help a lot.  What is the recommended way to see an equivalent CMYK to a work of art while working in RGB color space?

I'm not sure if that means anything here, but in RGB mode, I came across soemthing in illustrator > view > proof Setup > Working CMYK: U.S. web Coated, that's what I see while I'm working in RGB. Does this mean something here?

If you have a calibrated and profiled monitor and also the color profile of the printer in a RGB color space should give you the best possible conversion in the color space of the printer, and you can also reach the evidence when creating.

From my experience, I'm not able to do a substantially different job with picking out of the CMYK working only in the color space CMYK as what color is by converting color management space selected in a RGB color. The colors get dull naturally because in most of the cases, the CMYK color spaces are narrower and may not have the colors saturated broader RGB color spaces. Working mode CMYK from the beginning to the end simply avoids the feeling of surprise in seeing converts colors saturation is less, but that doesn't mean not converted to CMYK RGB will be less saturated than picked when working in the CMYK color space. I think that people who think that picking out the colors in CMYK mode, color space gives more choice than to use RGB colors and then convert is simply an illusion.

U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2color space displays your artwork in the color space of the commercial offset press that is calibrated to this standard. Thus, you should use it when you want to print on the printing press. If you are going to use other printers, you should have its color profile that is installed on your system and it will appear in the Customize submenu menu Format of event, and you can use it to test (display) the colors in the color space of the printer.

In any case, if you want to count on your monitor must be calibrated and profiled with a color meter. Otherwise you must rely on luck, or you can use the final printed output as a reference to the colors used in your work and not what your monitor displays.

Edit: didn't message of Jet, the before writing mine and would like to say in this regard although we have different experiences they are both valid according to the work and the process used. I would also choose to work in CMYK color space if I have to use known with CMYK values.

    Hello

    In the case of color space "EPS" can be read if Photoshop created this.

    Otherwise, this property is not available.

    try... catch should filter your alert:

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument,
    myLinks = myDoc.links.everyItem().getElements(),
    p, e;

    for ( p = 0; p < myLinks.length ; p++) {
         myArt = myLinks[p];
         if (myArt.status == LinkStatus.NORMAL)

  • Savings while mixing in RGB CMYK color chart?

    My document is in RGB mode and I mixed the colors with the RGB sliders, even if I'm still able to save this for CMYK swatch in the new swatch dialog. What is now doing the color?

    Thank you.

    As long as the document color mode is RGB, the nuances of the process will also be RGB. No matter which option you choose in the menu - exception is grayscale.

  • RGB - CMYK in the information window

    When I open Information window, can I choose to display RGB and CMYK information about each pixel (or other info if I want it, such as the Web color or Lab colors). I understand the RGB numbers are based on 255 (number of gray levels) and number of grayscale is in percent, but what is "scale" numbers CMYK, that they are based on or show me?

    An example is that the color with RGB R255-B255 values CMKY C11 - Y79 values. What to do the 11 and the average of 79?

    Best, David.

    In the CMYK mode, each pixel is assigned a value in percentage for each of the process inks. The colors (highlighted) more light are assigned small percentages of ink colors quadri; the darker (shadow) colors higher percentages. For example, a bright red can contain 2% cyan, 93% magenta, 90% yellow, and 0% black. In CMYK images, pure white is generated when all four components have values of 0%.

  • Depth or color not supported mode. Only RGB, CMYK, grayscale, and Bitmap levels are supported?

    Hello. I am trying to replace a string in a CMYK image with a spot color in Illustrator CS6 and photoshop CS6. Change the color, it is quite simple and then saving them as a multichannel DSP. But then it will not be re-issued in Illustrator and I just got the above message. I don't understand why it won't link to. I've done this before with images and are they related in fine illustrator. Am I missing a setting or mode of file somewhere?

    Too bad. I thought about it. Went back to previous files I created and realized that I saved as .eps files. For anyone else having this problem... you can't save a multichannel image as a psd, you have to save to an EPS Photoshop DCS 2.0 then it will very well repeat :-)

  • RGB to CMYK conversion in artificial intelligence

    Hi, my printing says a RGB file I sent him, and he needs to CMYK for printing.

    (1) how can I know that the original file is RGB color mode?

    (2) how to convert file have RGB CMYK AI file?

    Thank you very much!!!

    lhcheng,

    (1) file > Document Color Mode.

    (2) tick CMYK instead of RGB.

    You should be aware that the colors RGB and CMYK are fundamentally different, so more likely, you will need to create at least a few colors again, and you have to accept some inevitable changes.

    Many RGB colors will be changed to CMYK rather muddy and messy, as you can see in the color palette when you select CMYK.

    And a lot of bright colors will become less.

  • Choice of profiles for RGB forced to CMYK conversion

    When a mixed RGB/CMYK PDF is opened in Illustrator CS6, Illustrator requires a conversion to a color space or another. See this screenshot: http://imgur.com/sK8iEdn

    I guess this is a limitation of the Illustrator and there is no way to keep the two color spaces. Under this assumption, is it possible to choose the profiles used for the conversion of RGB to CMYK? Illustrator is possible to use the RGB and CMYK profiles defined in its color settings to do this conversion?

    I did some experiments with Illustrator CS6 and target RGB of MacBeth and checked my results with Photoshop CS6. I discovered that (especially) illustrator doing what he should do, within an error of 1% (probably rounded) on the output CMYK values. Here is a summary, in case anyone else needs this info:

    Assuming that the elements of the source file are all not marked, when a mixed RGB/CMYK PDF is open in CMYK mode and Illustrator is

    chosen, Illustrator uses the profiles and defined in rendering mode

    Color settings to make conversions from RGB to CMYK color. Thus, we

    have control over the profiles used for this conversion.

    If the RGB elements in the PDF file have embedded ICC profiles,

    Illustrator uses the ICC profile embedded instead of the RGB profile

    defined in the color settings. That happens, however, if the PDF file

    also includes the correct intention to output CMYK profile.

    If the PDF file does not contain an output CMYK mode, Illustrator will fall

    back on the color settings RGB RGB-> CMYK conversion profile. I think that it

    would be more correct for Illustrator use the embedded profile of RGB and

    the CMYK profile defined in the color settings, but this is not how it seems to work.

    If the PDF file contains incorrect output CMYK mode, Illustrator will be

    ignore the color settings and follow the embedded profiles, RGB and CMYK

    for the conversion, as can be expected.

    I shot images for a Web site and print.  They want the images in a catalog and now I need to convert them also.

    I thank very you much for your valuable contribution.  I want to do it right the first time.

    Beth

    Beth,

    Everything above is correct, but... where it is going to be printed? What you have to offer? A pdf file, an Indesign? Is your monitor calibated? If this is not the case, how do you know if the colors are ok? As Peter pointed out, you know the profile that the printer will use?

    My best guess is, convert it to a 'standard' (in Europe, we have the standard "iso" for coated or uncoated stock) CMYK profile in photoshop and make a "standard" CMYK pdf Send this pdf to the printer and ask for proof of color on paper, digital without evidence).

    Once you have, you can refine your picture converted to match your level.

    Good luck, gert

    Hello

    I created a PDF using Adobe Illustrator CS4, and even if I'm only using 2 tones, times, Illustrator and Acrobat are CMYK plates in the preview separations and preview the output. When I turn off the Spot plates, there is nothing in the document. Could you please help me understand why is this happenning?

    Thank you

    Acrobat always shows CMYK framework - even if there is no CMYK in there. You will notice also that if the file content RGB, CalRVB, LAB etc - it shows also in the output as CMYK preview since it is in simulation mode (enough for now)!

    You can use SHOW preview of the output or even to use a profile of preflight to double check...

  • Issue of MAJOR brush Image in RGB mode with AI Update (with video)

    bug.jpg

    Illustrator PRODUCT BUG / PROBLEM: Image in the new version of illustrator brushes show a strange discoloration and pixelation unsightly around the edges that have any transparency, but ONLY in the space of RGB, CMYK color space color has not this problem. This moved NOT in 2015 from CC. I could create a brush image with transparency on the edges, and it would be PERFECT if I was using a color space RGB or CMYK.

    Below I'll detail the major problem that I discovered with brushes of image in RGB color mode in the most recent update of Adobe Illustrator. After having tested methodical, I created a video with my findings. I also wrote it below the video more in depth as well.

    PRODUCT BUG / PROBLEM: Image in the new version of illustrator brushes show a strange discoloration and pixelation unsightly around the edges that have any transparency, but ONLY in the space of RGB, CMYK color space color has not this problem. This moved NOT in 2015 from CC. I could create a brush image with transparency on the edges, and it would be PERFECT if I was using a color space RGB or CMYK.

    I create digital assets for a living and am a bestseller on creative market (https://creativemarket.com/dailydesignables ) and am VERY methodical about products, I create, so I did thorough testing to ensure that it is not a question that I have just. It's a universal issue with illustrator CC 2015 update. A few months ago I published a set of brushes for IA CC image and sold many of them, and I've tested for months before release. I discovered this problem when I was going to use in the new version of illustrator and to my surprise, the edges of the brushes where there was some transparency had terrible distortion of colors and pixelation.

    It wasn't a problem on the previous version of illustrator and I tested it on my two machines, I have a customer who bought my image brushes email me with the same problem. I created NEW brushes in my video demo above to show it is also not a problem with the implementation brushes from a previous version. I created brushes sweet image in CC2015 and CC2015.3 to show the problem is with the new update, and ONLY in the RGB color space. Because the image brushes worked perfectly in the latest version, I know it's possible. There is a problem with the RGB color space in the new version's efforts useless brushes image with transparency on the edges. I work in RGB, so it's a big deal.

    In addition, there is nothing to do with the performance of the GPU, I tried that already, turn it off, restart illustrator. Same results. At first I thought it was a rendering / perhaps CPU / memory problem which will make arrangements with a reboot, but it isn't. It is constant in my machines and my clients. In addition, if you paste the image (with transparency issues) brush in a photoshop doc, be it as a smart object or a raster object, discoloration and the pixelation also comes, is not only a problem of rendering of AI.

    I was supposed to get a call from Anu on case #0187946265 last week and never did. I got an email to say Adobe, they closed the case because they have marked as "resolved". I tweeted Adobe Illustrator and Adobe supported the problem, so I hope that someone in the bugs team will see this STAT! Thank you very much in advance!

    Jessica

    Hello world!

    Just an update that Engineering was able to reproduce the problem and are working on a fix. Although there is a workaround solution, working in CMYK mode (and then switching to RGB later) should work until the fix is released.

    Thank you all for your patience and hard work.
