  1st button only allows the LED turned off/turned on but does not any silent operation with any application (not even Windows Media Player). Even when he performs the operation LED is off; only 6 keys and the bottom screen 'SATELLITE' is disabled; the other LEDS (in DC, Powe. Drums, disks) are always on... What is the problem and how do I start its silent operation so that I can cut the pc with any operation of the application.

  2nd button does that open Windows Media Player. What it is supposed to do exactly?

  All other keys do nothing but work on Windows Media Player. They do not work on any other application; either VLC or any other. How can I make it work on all multimedia applications...

  The last of the woks to buttons ONLY with Windows Media Player! You can't use it with 3rd party like WinAmp player.

  According to the first 2 buttons:
  You can change the functionality assign the right exe file.

  For example:
  If you want to assign the light On / Off instead of Mute, you have to go

  Toshiba Assist-> optimize-> Toshiba Button Support.
  Select Dimmer.exe and click on register and click on 'Browse' button to Toshiba support and go in C:/Program Files/Toshiba/Toshiba button Support (or TBS)

  Now the button will start the dimmer.exe

  Even you can do if you want to use Mute or other applications

  I have Satellite A300 with two hard drives and each HARD drive has another operating system. Both hard drives are recognized correctly.
  I put t know what the problem is here, but the two hard disks should be recognized automatically.
  Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.
  Try to start the check and install Microsoft bootable disk if the two hard disks are displayed in Setup.

  I just hope that there is not a hardware problem.

• Satellite A300 problem with Touch/set of keys

  Hi all

  I have a relatively new Satellite A300 which was my serve. After turning on my laptop this morning, I found that the buttons of reading/Touch (the mute, play, stop, keys etc. which are located above the function keys) no longer work. The keys lights not when I turned on the computer first and did not work. After restarting my laptop, they have now come on, but do not work. Other software like Windows Media Player still work. If all goes well, can someone give me a race step by step through how to fix this, as I am not very familiar with the use of the computer? Very much appreciated!

  On an additional note, I don't think I ran these latest updates which could have caused this?

  Generally these buttons should if the VAP added Value Package is reinstalled, but try it please roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool.
  You can find under the menu start > all programs > Accessories > system tools.

  Just roll back day or two back and test of functionality again.

  32 bit Vista will recognize only about 3.2 GB.

  I have a satellite A300-1BZ running Windows vista Home premium. For some reason, there intermittentlystarted requesting a password of BIOS or boot when I turn on. I have never put this password myself and have no idea how or where to look to remove it.

  I can turn on if I remove the battery without asking for the password, but if I shut off and turn on again, then it asks again. Advice apprecieated.

  To be honest I don t understand this. If you just understand that you can use your laptop and bypass the BIOS password if you turn the notebook on power only, right?
  But with the battery inside it start and ask BIOS password?

  Unfortunately, now is not impossible to recover, image of hard drive, but with the only recovery disk. You can copy only to someone who has the same laptop with hard drive recovery record.

  I know it has been on many topics and forums before but-

  Satellite A300 Toshiba registered repairman after only another technician claimed the question was the motherboard.

  So a new hard drive had to be replaced (it was old age) by registered repairer.

  Graphics card died - map is part of the motherboard = motherboard replaced.

  Supposed to win - phone to make sure everything is well = "there still the issue."

  QUESTION = RANDOM COMPUTER RESTARTS WHEN THE POWER CORD IS PLUGGED

  I'm really sorry to hear that you have such problems after Exchange of motherboard and I really don't understand why service is not properly check and test the features of the laptop.
  To discuss these issues is quite complicated because we can only speculate what may be the problem and no one can say with certainty why this happens.

  In my opinion all you can do is to do some tests and try to do a rational conclusion, but in the end service should solve the problem.

  Just a few questions about described:
  Everything is OK is when you use the power supply battery?
  How it works with power supply current when the battery is removed?
  Start the machine and enter the BIOS settings. Leave it for a while and check if computer laptop turns off again?
  What operating system do you use? Are you using the original OS that you got with the A300 or clean install of the OS?

  I see some of these problems arise in the forums and I was wondering if anyone has a solid answer as to if this is fixable or is the laptop useless now.

  Error recovery reports an unexpected shutdown.
  Recovered the system using that a disc of recovery on the 3rd test and the problem persists.

  As I m not wrong not the A300 was equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
  This means that you can grab the laptop and set it to factory settings very easy and without use of the Recovery DVD!

  Then turn on the laptop, press the F8 key and choose the option called fix my computer.
  Then, a new screen should appear and you need to choose the last option called Toshiba Recovery or something like that.
  Then follow the instructions on the screen.

  The whole HARD drive must be formatted and new operating system with all the drivers must be installed

  my laptop (Satellite A300-1GC) worked very well for many years. But then last year he startet freeze randomly.

  What I mean with gel: I can't do anything, the mouse and the button are not, nothing on the screen moves (stop animations etc.). The only way to restart the computer is pressing the power on button for a few seconds.

  First of all I thought to a software problem, perhaps caused by an update windows (windows 7 Professional).

  So my sisters laptop (satellite A300) was more than heating for basically since we bought it, but now I think that has caused a serious problem.
  Now it does not start at times like when you turn the backlight only market not even turn on.

  Hard drive does nothing basically nothing just the power light comes on it is all.
  But when I remove the charger and close the lid and open it again, wait like 2 minutes it magicly towers, so it's the startup problem.

  This may have something to do with it, but when you plug the cable that the tactile area (above the keyboard) lights up if laptops or disable but don't market not turn on if not plugged Chargers... also touch dosen't work area.
