• IdeaPad Y400 keyboard broken after installation of Ubuntu. Sent in, Lenovo has sent back still broken.

  I have a Y400 Ideapad, purchased in December 2012, delivered with Windows 8. He has recently due to a malfunction after trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary OS. It was very difficult to get installed Ubuntu because UEFI and Secure Boot really tried to stop him, but I have finally installed it and the two operating systems, has been working for about 24 hours. Then, Ubuntu was able to start. On several occasions. Then I started Windows and it seemed that he was working again, except that from time to time when I tried typing, the keyboard type keys I had not touched and then stop responding for about 30 seconds. After that, it would still work for a little while.

Also, when they sent it the first time, they have not even put it together right. The rear panel was not at bottom, and panel below which was actually folded so that one of its tabs fit on the side of my laptop instead of being inside.

  I really need to solve this problem, but I'm doubting the capacity of Lenovo to do, and I don't want keep it will send if it simply means that I won't have a laptop for 1-2 weeks and then I'll get it broken back yet more. Also, I need even Ubuntu, even if they do not fix it then I have to reinstall Ubuntu and it will probably break again. Not to mention, they will probably wipe my data from it.

  Turns, the Y400s have a defect. If you select always "on USB" in the BIOS / menu UEFI, it messes up your keyboard. I have activated it when I was trying to get my computer to recognize a USB boot.

  I'm surprised a Lenovo support is not already aware of it. I talked to Lenovo about a dozen employees, including a supervisor and a representative of the customer relationship and no one suggested she could relate to my BIOS settings.

  I am running Photoshop CS4 and whenver I try to make an adjustment layer do not affect the layer below creatnig a mask of clipping, it turns off just the adjustment layer. I mean is that it's just as if I've hidden the adjustment layer, if it does not affect anything. I tried everything in the Solutions over common problems.

  Recommended Sansa armband for the clip. I hate 17 bucks plus S & H.

  Go to a dollar store and get a small tape measure or a bunch of liquidation that has a small plastic or a belt clip steel on it (or any other cheap device with a belt clip that can be removed). Remove clip belt needed for this device. Use a nail or nail Board file and smooth the broken area on the Clip + to create a flat surface. The replacement of clip on glue. A bit of work, but this should fix it!

  How describe you it, it is probably a GIF image.  You should be able to right click to save to your desktop, then include it in a new email (or just before in the email you received).

• PC game crash error

  Hello this is Saikex. Previously, I started a thread to help related to a stupid accident that kept happening during the game. I thought I had resolved, but it seems that the problem persists when I play a game of high graphic video. Games like Minecraft seem to work (i.e. until the rain sequence) well.
  There is a problem with the GPU, as stated in the previous entry.
  Condition of the PC:
  1 display Driver is up to date
  2 Nvidia is set by default
  3 BIOS is set by default
  4 fan slots have been completely busy (2 front fan, 1 rear, 1 CPU fan and 1 additional fan).
  5. the temperatures are normal. When you play, the temperature can go as high as 60 degrees.
  Before what I did to solve the problem, it's the GPU fan speed. For once, this strategy has worked - but now is not. Recently I tried to install the new extra fan.

  Hello this is Saikex, I apologize sincerely for not answering sooner. Vacation and work and, well you know.

  Finally solved the situation. It turns out that people who sold me the graphics card (and who I sent to for RMA) sent me a bad another GPU. How I arrived at this conclusion?

  I am an amateur PC technician. I'm proud of how I experiment with the technology. But after I have RMA had the GPU, I thought there was no possible way, it's a hardware problem. Yet, there is always that 1% chance.

  So I kept running all kinds of tests and diagnostics and all sorts of troubleshooting tips - nothing helped. This was getting ridiculous. Work months without being able to do everything, with my 'new' PC if I can add. So I sucked upward of my pride and is the only thing that I allowed myself to do--resorting to a repair shop.

  I brought to the Geek Squad. After execution of all kinds of diagnoses, they return telling me that the problem of the physical GPU. They had shared it with their own low range GPU and all tests were successful.

  I had to confirm myself, so I bought a new GPU from Best Buy and he traded for the old. No more accidents, not more random BSOD Code 116.

  So where should I go from here? Well first, I would like to give the company who sold me the faulty GPU by another a PIECE OF MY MIND. I want my money for this GPU, and I want them to pay for the service that charged me for Geek Squad.

  Aside from that, it's time to continue to do what I have built this PC for in the first place - to make cartoons and animated films.

  I'm not a computer genius and therefore will probably asked a question that has already been asked and answered. My concern is with my Windows 7 Media Player I have on my HP all-in-one. My friend sent me some video clips of his cell phone, I then forwarded to my email account. Then I downloaded them to my file to download. When I tried to play in thse clips, WMP hesitated and told me because of what we call "codecs" or a file format that WMP has not recognized, videos could be played.  So should I upgrade my WMP or find something else that plays the video to cell phone? • After effects CC 2014 problem: Image of the picture since the last link of the first CC-After effects burned permanently into new compositions of project.

  A picture of one of the clips that I sent to first After Effects by 'replace with After Effects composition' was definitely burned in After Effects and it appears now in each new composition of each new project, I have create as the background for such a composition.

  For example, I sent first, for a clip of a building to After Effects for the correction of the colours with Finesse and stabilization of the string, and then after that rendered finish and close all applications, now everytime I open After Effects for any other project, they are already created or brand new, each existing or newly created composition (in a command Mac N) you see the image of the building as the background of the composition.  If you create a new publication, although it remains empty of all layers, you see the image of the building.  If you have a composition already created with layers, when you turn off all the eyes of the layers, you expect to see black (Nothing) in the composition window (if it is the color you assigned to be like the back of the comp), but instead, you see the building.  If you change the background color of the model in the Composition settings, you still see the building as background.  If you make such empty composition (not layers) return you the image of the building, not black.  I tried to click around and through the preferences and even uninstall the application and reinstall, but it seems to be permanently burned in in the background of each model.

  Please, any ideas of what is happening and how get rid of?

  So I always do multicam - I'm editing a show now with 3 camera angles, but one of my cameramen was new and did a stupid thing: during the concert, he stopped and started his machine after each number, thereby breaking his media in 9 separate clips.   I replaced the original hard drive in my Dell Dimension 8250 with a 250 GB Western Digital caviar internal HD in June 2007.  This new drive has failed the week last after only 10 months.  It is still under warranty.  I called customer service and they said that they would replace the drive if I sent them the broken one.   The customer service representative assured me that none of my personal data on the drive would have cleared before they not remanufatured it for resale.  How can I know that they're going to do this?   I just received a Portege 7200 with docking station series. The clip that attaches to the main unit screen is broken and the screen doesn't seem to work. While I can deal with the broken pliers, I was wondering if this will affect why the screen is not working? I only see an image very very dark. Of course, I use an external display, but I was wondering if there is anything I could do to make the screen of the laptop working again. Thanks for any help.

  I'm sure that some hardware component is defect. It can be FL inverter or something like that. In my opinion, you should contact the Service partner and let Exchange them. Portege 7200 is portable very nice.
