Router Befw11s4 - WARNING long post

I bought a router of v.4 befw11s4 a couple of years back.  I remember spending hours with tech support to make it work, and even after that I got it working it never worked very well.  The router would reset continually itself, which would require me to reset the dsl modem then all settings completely enter the router linksys only that it be reset again, maybe in a few minutes, sometimes it would last maybe an hour, never much longer than that.

So I disconnected, have not really thought much about it since then.

Now, actually, I have a desire to try to make it work, but I met a ton of fixes, so I'll try to go through each of them and explain what happens to the best of my ability, perhaps there, can someone help me get this piece of work.

I tried to access the access point, or the parameters as it can be through the web browser.  When I plugged the router, I was able to get a solid led lights on the front panel.  Power supply light solid, lightweight solid ethernet.

I tries to enter the settings of the web browser by entering the address http://192.168.1.1 and tried http://192.168.1.245 with zero success.

I have since reset the router several times using any method that I could find online.  Turning off the power, using the reset button, wait 5 minutes through each step of the process, praying to the gods of networking that this router would finally click and would just work... sigh.

I reset my dsl modem.

Nothing seems to help.  Now I can't have full lights on the front panel when I connect the ethernet cable.  It flashes briefly, goes dark and so far no amount of buttons to reset, power, prayer, nothing seems to work at all.

Solved.  Bought the Belkin router and had it up and running in about 15 minutes.  I spent way more time this just trying to get something to work on the Linksys.

    Thank you for your response, however, I've done some more research on my own and my keyboard like on/off switch.  It is the f12 key, which has this symbol ((i)).   I guess I accidentally typed on it not wireless. I typed it and the light turned blue and all is well again. Such a small simple thing that solved my problem. I'll try to find the button solved after this announcement.

  • Lenovo U310 too long POST W10

    Hi, I recently updated my U310 for Windows 10 but I lost access to the BIOS, so I installed the latest version that is in the official website and it fixed the problem, but now it takes too long to POST even if everything works properly. The bios is for Windows 8 / 8.1 and there is no version for Windows 10, so I don't know if this is the cause of the problem.

    Any help will be much appreciated.

    I could solve the problem. The only thing I had to do was to change the boot order priority to put the HARD drive in the first place.

    I have a using a Linksys BEFW11S4 router and have recently updated the firmware
    the version 1.44.2z but have experience the following problem.

    -When I want to make changes to the installation, the password and the DHCP tab, the
    router ask me the password. Pls refer
    to peak 1 for screenshot.
    -By entering the password "admin", the router keep prompting me to
    Re-enter the password. So I was unable to

  • What's compatible with FIOS router BEFW11S4?

    My daughter has a Verizon FIOS as his ISP.  The BEFW11S4 can be used in such an environment?  Are there special settings I should change when it is used in this environment?

    I think it can work because that BEFW11S4 supports the PPPoE connection.

    I think that even with Fios, you can use your old router with the system, they just give you a free when you sign up.

  • Loss of bandwidth through router BEFW11S4

    Got the BEFW11S4 wireless 4 ports with the latest firmware.

    Connect my PC directly to the Comcast modem I get 16 Mbps download speed.

    Addition of my router (MODEM-> ROUTER-> PC) he falls up to 9 MB/s - so lose a helluva lot of bandwidth.

    And more obviously buy a newer router, is there something I can change to get through the 16 Mbps?

    The BEFW11S4v3 seems to have a 10 Mbit/s internet port. He goes faster then what you see.

  • Since the installation of Firefox, I can no longer post to a group of goole - even after clearing cache / cookies as suggested

    I can connect to the uk d-i-y group, but when I try a post an error message / try the message later. After clearing the cache / cookies as Google indicates that the message is that the application needs updating - refresh page. Tried to re-Assembly of the group but no change.

    There is the chance that an add-on or plugin installed in Firefox is the origin of the problem. To learn, you can try the Mode without failure of Firefox.

  • Windows did an update yesterday since so I will no longer post on my site without turn off the firewall in microsoft security databases.

    I use Netobjects 12 on Windows 7 with Virgin Media, all other programs work correctly, including Filezilla. I checked that NetObjects is one of the programs that are allowed to access the internet. If I turn off the firewall in MSE, everything works perfectly. I've tried it on two different sites, nothing helps. Any ideas people? Terry

    If a sendToAllNeighbour + routing is equiavlent to post()?

    What I mean by sentToAllNeighbour + routing is that her counterpart who want to send a message to all counterparts, sends his neighbor first to all and each of these neighbor then send to all their own neighbours... until you reach the destination.

    I though that this is how netGroup.post has been implemented, but since the article (link above) does not mention this equivalence that I wander if it is actually implemented in this way.

    If this is not the case, how netGroup.post () is being implemented?

    This is not how NetGroup.post () works.

    the display works equally fashionable to multicast system.  When you post a message, or receive an assignment from a neighbor that you had not seen before, you start to say to your neighbors (but not all at the same time) that you have this message by sending an abbreviation of his message (a hash of the message) ID.  for each Member of the group, shortly after he learned of a new message he has not seen before, he will ask the message of one of the neighbors who made the announcement.  the timers that govern the meantime announced and fetch setting are set to maintain the low spread while minimizing the air traffic and traffic distribution as fair/same as possible.

  • Time Capsule no longer works in conjunction with the ISP modem

    Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help you can provide, and my apologies if similar topics have already answered - rushed for this post, so I did not have too much time to browse the forums - please point me in the right direction if other threads exist!

    I'm in the United Kingdom and Virgin like my ISP... I had my Time Capsule for almost a year now and if it had connected to the Virgin Super Hub (dial-up Modem mode), without any problems. A few weeks back, I started to notice the drops intermittent in the Internet, until it finally went down all together without apparent reason. Now I can no longer use the Network Time Capsule using a Macbook, laptop computer Windows, Smartphone, Tablet, or Console games (I can always connect to the network, but there is 'no internet'). After talking at length with Virgin they basically blame the Time Capsule and say they cannot help me because it is not their technology. Since cutting the Capsule and turning back on the Super hub wireless, everything works again. I tried the simple things like rebooting, check connections etc., but to no avail.

    I have a lot of backups on the time Capsule (I use it for work purposes), so I'm afraid to play with things too in case they are deleted, but now desperately need to get operational new... Should I look for to reset the Capsule of time and/or remove/reset the wireless network I created when the first set up (if everything resets is possible without deleting the stored files)? Any help or advice would be much appreciated... Sorry for the long post!

    The first part is to ease your mind... the TC is perfectly ok with reset... nothing can be deleted by using the reset button or reset everything in airport utility... the only way to erase the hard drive is to clear its contents through the disk tab in the airport utility.

    We noticed a lot of problems with the WAN port on the TC... And a bunch of modems... This can happen a day or day 366... but once it starts, it doesn't go away.

    Connect the TC in the Virgin hub working in router mode full... you're going to fill the TC.

    1 factory reset the TC.

    Universal factory reset

    Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

    NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    2. make a new configuration of your Mac or iOS devices.

    With the wan of the TC plugged into the hub of Virgin by ethernet it should choose default wire bridge... If this isn't the case, manually change the configuration.

    3. once it is bridged leave the connection of the Virgin hub since the LAN of the TC port WAN... and see how it goes...

    If it works ok for the backup then continue to use it... If it's still questions... Please post screenshots... or consider to resume to apple... in the United Kingdom, you should have a legal guarantee of a couple of years... much longer warranty Apple offer directly.

    I use a router BEFW11S4 v.2 with a WEP password, I read recently that by using a WEP slows down the maximum transfer rate and that I should use a WPA2. I looked everywhere in my set up and do not see how to change this.  I've seen in a post, go to the wireless tab and use the security subtab, I have it all under the wireless tab's SubTabs.

    Hi, I recently changed my ISP. I tried to use the router with the same settings as my previous ISP, but it didn't connect. I have reset the router, ran the installation cd, and before setting the admin password, it detected initially as dhcp internet connection. I put the password, could load google. then it came to a point where there was sure easy installation in which I had to press the button in the router (that I didn't because it was not any signal in the statement to do).

    I refreshed the page and google no longer charge. I opened a new tab, but in vain.

    I have reset the router, followed by the installation and at this point eversince, it detects the connection as an ip address static (step 8). I changed it to dhcp, but the error message saying that the router cannot connect to the internet. I have reset the router all over again, but the same problem occurs.

    My question for everyone is, is there a way so that the router can detect the internet connection as dhcp? Sorry for the long post, but I must detail the problem and air my frustration.

    I called linksys free of charge and the problem was the internet light on the router is not light, so the agent told me that it be replaced.

    With the Linksys firmware: No. Is not possible. A Linksys wireless router will no longer work as bridge. It connect wireless to other devices. You need to run a cable

    With the 3rd party firmware like dd - wrt or tomato: you can configure the router as a repeater or wireless gateway. Please check the documentation of the 3rd firmware part to see if your router model and version is compatible. Remember, that a bridge or a Repeater with the WRT54G will slow down your entire wireless network.
