Routing using Wireless LAN Controller

I was wondering if Wireless LAN controller (5508) can manage routing? This is our problem.

We have a remote site, where we have bunch of 2900 series just pass. The router belongs and is managed by the provider of the PHONE company.

We would like to install a controller (5508) and as the controller would make the delivery for the following subnets:

The company 10.10.10.0/24 network

Guest network 10.10.20.0/24

Mobile (iPhone / iPad) 10.10.30.0/24

Management Interface (AP) 10.10.40.0/24

Is this possible? Or we need a layer 3 switch or a router that can do the routing for wireless controller.

If possible, we prefer NOT to use the TELCO routing router subnet wireless?

Unfortunately is the WLC a diverter. It is layer 2 only.

    > Can't use the Wi - Fi connection. When you use "Free Config" to find peripheral wireless the popup "this connection is controlled by other software.

You may not use the ConfigFree for configuring Wlan but own Vista configuration options or the WLan configuration tool like Atheros Clint Utility or Intel ProSet utility. It depends on the WLan card which utility can be used.
Card Intel-> Intel ProSet utility; Card Atheros WLan-> Atheros Clint Utility

I guess the message + this connection is controlled by other software + appears because one of the above options controls the WLan.

  • Cisco 2112 and Apple TV Airplay wireless LAN Controller

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with the help of iTunes, iPhones, and iPads on our wireless network. We have the WLC 2112 and 10 1142N WAP. If I do a network scan, I can see the Apple TV and port 5353 is open, which is Apple's morning service.  However, if I try to play the music/video on iTunes, or on an iPhone/iPad, I don't see the Airplay icon.  If I connect to the local network, the Airplay icon appears immediately. I created an allow all the rules in the ACL, but still no dice.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • WebAuth LOCAL with Wireless Lan Controller and ISE

    Greetings,

We intend to set up a centralised comments with sponsored webauth wireless network. I didn't know that this will not work with our current WLC code (6.0.199.4) as 7.2 or later version is required.

We have a project to upgrade the WLCs but he won't be ready before the deadline for the completion of the reviews wireless.

I am using local WebAuth temporarily until the WLCs are ready. My questions are:

    1. am I correct that I can still authenticate ISE?

    2. Since local webauth does not cost support, does that mean I can't apply a pre or post auth ACL?

    3. can someone point me to a good guide for configuring local webauth?

    Thank you!

    Hi Leroy,

In CWA you can push the AVPs desire in the final result because of the nature of the flow:

-Comments will connect to the SSID.

-WLC send wireless MAB ask (1st authentication). In response, ISE returns accepted with url-redirect-acl and redirect url.

-WLC updates the client session and once http (s) generated WLC redirects the customer to ISE according to AVPs received at the 1st auth(MAB request).

-The customer enters the identification information in the portal. ISE valid creds and refers to WLC one type COA to re-authenticate.

-WLC re authenticates the client (2nd authentication) session, and at this point ISE can support AVPs custom as names of VLANS, Interfaces or space air dynamic ACLs.

-WLC overrides the client session with the new attributes.

Local Web Auth as you mentioned, there are 2 steps but the WLC "considers" cela a single thread.

To the LWA, the flow is as follows:

-The client connects to the SSID.  Since there is no involved L2 auth client through DHCP, captures an IP and arrives at WebAuth_Required. Redirect URL is configured statically on WLC and pre auth ACL allows client access to ISE during the auth phase.

-Customer opens the browser and WLC redirects the customer to ISE, but breast of redirection, there is a 'return to WLC' action which indicates to ISE to send customer WLC virtual IP containing identification information of the client used for auth in portal comments.

-In this way the WLC now "knows" the handed creds to ISE and this way there is a formal request from RADIUS WLC sends to ISE asking these creds. ISE links in return an accept, and this is how the WLC now "knows" that auth is correct and she should move client to RUN.

LOA of the simplest way would be to define an Interface of comments and statically applying a restrictive ACL at the level of the interface rather than wait the AVP of AAA server.

LWA is supported in this version at very low level and basic, but if you want a complex flow involving the pusher of the dynamic attribute you will need something higher to 7.2.110.0.

Recommended version would be 7.6.130.0 as for now.

    Kind regards

    Antonio

  • Terms of wireless LAN Controller

What is the purpose and reason for using virtual interface and port-management service, AP Manager?

    My bad... I mean WLC

The Strip is telnet, ssh to the ip management. out of band is when the port has no real connection to your network. That is why the ip address of the service port is an ip address that is not part of your network shouldn't be routable in your network. In the case where your connection of loos to management and you do not know the commands for the cli, you can connect to the service port and use the GUI.

  • Setting up autonomous HA - SKU Wireless Lan Controller

    Hello

I ordered an AIR-CT5508-HA-K9. It is not match with WLC assets and there is no permanent AP license on this HA - SKU.

I wonder if I can make any configuration or perform the software upgrade on the standalone HA - SKU?

    Thank you.

You can do both, but you can use this HA - sku only for SINGLE sign-on or N + 1.  You can not use both as independent because you will get an error after 90 days.

  • wireless lan controller, allowing lag

    Hi all

I used more than 47 ap on my 4402, and now he usually adds more, if I activate LAG happens with a WARNING saying it will delete all my interfaces, current - this true? or if I activate LAG it should still work as before?

    see you soon

    Carl,

Activation of LAG does not remove interfaces.  So, if you activate the OFFSET and reboot, you should be fine.  Alternatively, you can configure another AP-Manager and bind it to the other port.

    See you soon,.

    Someone can help me.
    Thanx. Tony
    [email protected]

    Hi Tony,.

I think that your problems are due to a utility that allows to get the maximum 'time place' battery of Toshiba power save. This is done by reducing power to some things that can drain the battery in their "full power" mode A common feature that most people notice, is that the screen is slightly lower under the power of the battery as the power supply. These energy savings are a feature and not a fault with the equipment, but the settings can be adjusted.

Enter the menu in the Toshiba Utilities program start and open Power Options. You will notice that there are a number of profiles 'factory' that you can choose to give default settings for different configurations, including one for the battery power. All parameters can be set here.

Once the settings have been changed, the wireless connection can run as fast as normal AC power, but the downside of this is that the battery may not last as long.

I hope this helps, let us know how you go!

  • Cisco NAC does support Wireless LAN?

    Hello

I know that Cisco NAC support LAN wireless. I sent myself with various brands of autonomous APs. These work very well using the in-band, out-of-band mode.

However, Cisco has been mentioned for Cisco AP, with Cisco switches and Cisco NAC, out-of-band is supported. I tried this today and it's or Cisco's fake, which is highly unlikely, or I have not configured the portion of the NAC or the access point Cisco correctly, which is most likely? I wonder where am I wrong? Please someone advice me on this?

    Hi Jean Claude,

You can now do out-of-band with wireless deployments, but you must have a Wireless Lan Controller manage your APs. You can't do it with autonomous APs.

  • Want to use internet to share WRV210 router between two LANs

    Hello

    I have the following scenario:

A LAN has access to internet via ADSL through a Fortigate 50B (192.168.100.0)

A new LAN (different segment) that should have access to the internet. (192.168.102.0)

Two local networks need to have shared access resources among themselves.

We have a WRV210 router between two LANs (192.168.100.0 WAN, 192.168.102.0 on LAN) configured in router mode.

Resources work very well, but internet does not work.

We receive answers internet addresses on 192.168.102.0 ping and tracert works very well, but we cannot navigate or connect to Skype, msn msg, etc..

We made on fortigate 50B routes this way:

    192.168.102.0/255.255.255.0 192.168.100.102 internal

192.168.100.102 is an address WAN WRV210

We tried the gateway mode and internet works fine on 192.168.102.0, but 192.168.100.0 cannot contact 192.168.102.0 resources (obviously)

What can be wrong in case of ping and tracert works very well, but nothing else works?

    Hi Willy,.

You need the WRV210 in not the router mode gateway mode.

Gateway mode active Stateful inspection, which will address translation from private to public IP addresses and NAT....

"But I think that the VLAN on the router segments members to talk to other members on the other vlan, so your comment.

Two local networks need to have shared access resources among themselves. "creates a problem.

    .

A community previous publication says "with Port Based VLAN on the WRV210, there is no VLAN tagging and so on." It's more like say port 1 not to talk to port 2, because they are on separate physically designated VLAN (even if on the same subnet) and it is far as it goes. But with your configuration you want also to have the 2nd SSID do not talk to any wired client based on the RVS4000 as well? If so, this facility would not work because all wireless clients would be able to talk to cable customers and vice versa. But if you primary concern is simply to prevent the SSID 1 speaking with 2 SSID, it's doable in the page VLAN for the WRV210.

So if you want the WRV210 to allow switching between the VLAN port basis, it won't work the way it is set up now...

If you want to restrict access between IP hosts, I suggest using the list feature to access a managed switch that focuses on the PC or servers.  A switch may be as a series of 200 or 300 small businesses switch, see URL below...

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps10898/prod_models_comparison.html

But then allow all ports to be a member of the VLAN by default.  I hope that I read your question correctly

    Best regards, Dave

  • P1102w "unable to communicate with any wireless router using the provided SSID"

Hi all, apologies if there is an answer to that somewhere, I took a look, and several people have had something similar, but without a clear resolution.

I got a job p1102w successfully for about 2 years now and this week he suddenly won't print wireless. No recent changes to the network, no change to the printer, no changes to the computer.

No luck with simple things so I reinstalled the printer (it works via USB), but when I get to the wireless network configuration steps I encountered a problem.  Automatically scan for wireless networks detects my home network, but by selecting translates "unable to communicate with any access point or wireless router using the provided SSID. The same error message occurs when you try to connect to a network wireless of my neighbors.

At this point, I would say that there is a problem with the card wireless in the printer.  Do you know if this printer is under warranty?
