Run windows explore version 4.0.1377.1 on xp

Is it possible to run Windows Explorer (from NT 4.0) version4.0.1377.1 on Windows XP.  Personally, I prefer this version. Its light weight and didn't use any form of integration with Internet Explorer. If someone could help with this, I would appreciate it.

This is not supported.

  • Cannot run Windows Explorer using the interactive services detection

    Hello

I have the tool using the interactive services detection to display applications. I have to refrain from using the Terminal Server services for the moment and the DSI is the only option I have. Now the problem is, this tool must run Windows explore periodically as well as other applications Viz Notepad, wordpad. It shows notepad and wordpad but always fails to open windows Explorer. Any ideas on that?
PS: everything what I described above works great with the Terminal Services

  • I would like to load three ServicePack but I am running windows xp pro version 2002

I want to upgrade the service pack, but im running windows xp version 2002

If you are running a service pack, then you might start to update your Windows and install SP1 and SP2 first and then you could install Service Pack 3.

You might try Windows Update to get all the update and Service Pack or you can call Microsoft Support and give you the CD of it.

  • Why the mode list Windows Explorer ignores the document property "Keywords"?

If I open a word.doc file properties Summary tab and type the data in the fields title, author, subject, category, comments and keywords and then activate these columns in Windows Explorer details view, I can see the words I typed in these columns, with the exception of the key words, which remains empty.  Why Explorer doesn't not know my keywords?

In addition, the comments column shows that the first 77 characters of the comment regardless of how long my comment is... Why is this? Is there some hidden settings that can be used to fail this behavior or change to a higher value?

I just answered a recent question and found this old (which is slightly different from the one I responded to regarding Sharepoint properties etc..).

I don't know why Microsoft has not done more properties available through the Windows Explorer list view, because for example, the property of "Key words" in Word has been around for a while before XP came. And before Windows 2 k come AFAICR. But judging by the mass of the columns dealing with properties 'media', they tried to meet the relatively new uses of Windows (much more than digital photography and other digital media), or the necessary code has been written by individuals affected by these media. And maybe the "key words" had been used differently by different Microsoft products and it was difficult to reconcile the different requirements. It is perhaps significant that property taken /is/ supported in Vista's Windows Explorer version, but called "Tags" there.
    However,.
    a. it is / was a mechanism to add columns to the list available from the point of view of list. I've never done so, it may be sure it will work because I imagine it should be, but you need to write a Shell Extension (.dll) that implements the IColumnProvider COM interface and save it in the appropriate location in the Windows registry.
    b. that the mechanism has been replaced by a new system of "Property manager" in Vista It is completely in step with the kind of properties 'Content Type' used in Sharepoint, I can't tell you, but there is a set of pages on this subject at
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc144135 (v = vs. 85) .aspx
Incidentally, the other widely available 'container' technology that could also retrieve and display properties, and has often been rather better than what Windows, Outlook. If you dragged the Word documents in an Outlook folder, you can create an Outlook display that displays the properties of the document (including key words, at least in Outlook 2003). The problem is that (AFAICR) you couldn't store links and Outlook was not really designed to store the files this way (for example, he had a relatively small capacity). The same thing was also possible at the same time in Exchange Server public folders, but there was also the ability practice and other difficulties, especially if you tried to synchronize these flders between servers. If these facilities are still available, and what was / is available in Groove/Sharepoint Workspace, I do not know :-)

  • How Windows Explorer can be configured to browse the folder hierarchy instead of behaving like a browser?

I work with files in a folder tree.  I want to browse this folder hierarchy, just as I did in the original copy of Windows Explorer in Windows XP.  I want to use the arrow keys to navigate up and down, and when I'm in a folder and click the previous button, I want it to go up one level in the folder hierarchy, just like he used to.

Now, when I hit the 'back' button, Windows Explorer behaves as a browserand goes to the last folder that I have read.

It's so frustrating!  She interrupts my thought process and the movement of my work.  If I wanted to use a browser, I use Internet Explorer.

How Windows Explorer can be configured to browse the folder hierarchy instead of behaving like a browser?  Remember the "unwebified" of Windows XP Windows Explorer version?  This is what I want so I can get back to work effectively.

Windows Explorer 7 does not have the up button like XP, however, in the address bar you can select the folder in the hierarchy (sometimes called the trail of bread crumbs) to return.

Windows 8 added the arrow pointing upwards.

A friend gave me your laptop to watch - there edition family vista (64 bit (I think) on it and when you try to run Explorer he says it does not find or access is denied and something about 16 bit / 64 bit (it has been a few days and I'm not memory clearly until what I try again tonight)

If you try to run a dll / Panel or anything like that, you will get an error message saying that it cannot run some 16-bit process or access denied.

So now I'm pretty stuck. Hello

You can perform a scan of the SFC (System File Checker). It lists all the issues and will also retrieve all files if necessary. Follow the steps below to p Ed a SFC Scan -.

    a. click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
    c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
    d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows

older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then

  • Windows Explorer keeps referencing the wrong version of Photoshop?

Using Windows Explorer, when I try to open an image by right-clicking on it, I am unable to choose Photoshop CC 2014. Instead, the only version of Photoshop, that I offer is CS5 I deleted. I am able to open Photoshop CC 2014 and then place or drag the same image file in Photoshop CC 2014.

It's just a little awkward, but I would it work as it should. Any suggestions? Thank you.

It's what often happens when you uninstall a previous version. The problem is in the Windows registry, but it is the uninstaller that mess the register to the file associations for newer versions still present on the system. The safe way to do is to uninstall in the reverse order of version, then reinstall it.

Officially, this isn't a problem. In reality, it is and has been for a long time and many versions.

Try these in the following order:

Bridge preferences > file type Associations.

Windows Control Panel > default of programs.

    Uninstall and reinstall CC 2014.

Uninstall and run CC cleaner script ( https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html ). Replace.

Run a registry cleaner. Might work, but beware, back up the registry first.

Change the registry manually. You'll have to google it, but there is a way. Same precautions as above apply.
