RV220W - implementation of support of VLAN

Hello

I'm new on the VLAN and wanted some comments about how I have the router configured prior to deployment.  I have 5 VLAN configured as follows:

Port 3
Port 4

The USDA and the cameras VLAN will be on the same track with a switch (I counted on MAC filtering help to differentiate) and the VIRTUAL office LAN will go to another switch (reservations MAC/IP using here), that the VLAN invited would be used for comments only, Wifi with this completely separate from other networks.

Is there a better way to configure or what I need to do further adjustments?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Fireman1224

Hi Dwight,.

I don't see why you would need this other router you always 4 Port you might use (based on what you wrote above) for the VLAN of the USDA.  If the device on the USDA must be reached outside a demilitarized zone would probably be the best bet.  Otherwise, this seems fine assuming that these two ports offices are connected only to the RV-Yes, it's a good idea to exclude any VLAN interfaces, on what you don't want them.

  • RV220W - implementation of Ports of junction

    Hello

Just recently, we bought a RV220W. We tried to find out how to set up a port as a trunk port to pass multiple VLANS to a XenServer. The documentation indicates that it is possible:

However, the option is no, actually there:

I've looked everywhere without success. I would appreciate if someone could give me a hint on how to do a port to behave as a trunk on this unit.

    Thank you

    Wilmar,

If I want to pass VLANs 1, 20 and 30 only on Port 4, it would have to be like in the config above, right?

    - As a side note and forgive my ignorance but why do I have to leave at least one VLAN untagged?

The port is configured correctly for the VLAN. A VIRTUAL LAN must be not identified, usually of the defautl VLAN on the network, because it is a Trunk port. If you had the opportunity for general port you could leave all the VLANS unidentified. The switch that connects to the port must be configured exactly the same.

There is only a manual for the RV220W:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/TD/docs/routers/CSBR/rv220w/Administration/Guide/rv220w_ag_78-19743.PDF

It seems that the manual that you referenced is a switch.

  • RV220W second problem of DHCP vlan

    Hi all

I have a router Cisco RV220W (the 1.0.4.17 firmware version).

I would like to have two separate networks with the following characteristics:

Netwrork1: network address range is 192.168.0.1 - 254. All devices should be able to reach eachother within this network and connect you to the internet via Wifi or LAN. This network, I was also able to reach the device on the router management page. Also the devices should get the throgh of DHCP ip addresses.

Network2: network address range is 192.168.5.1 - 254. All devices within this network should not be able to reach devices in Network1. All devices on this network should reach internet through Wifi only. Device management page should not be available on this network.

I have configured the router as described in the attached screenshots, but the problem is that in Network2, devices get IPs of the range 192.168.0.1 - 254 and not from 192.168.5.1 beach - 254. Also, there is no internet on these either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, honestly I don't think that there is an explanation here. It doesn't seem to work as it should. I personally default from Router 2 ssid, 2 VLANs and test from there before you make additional configurations.

  • Support vlan missing R6250

    Hi guys,.

Are there any chance to get r6250 to support the vlan in update close?

The specifications of this router is excellent, good speed - memory support for usb 3.0 everything is cool. But I miss a lot of support of vlan.

My fiber optics connection request 10 for ppoe and vlan VLAN 20 for iptv.

Already tried fw custom (like dd - wrt and tomato that adds vlan) but the performance is not good as the original (usb share and other things) and wifi speed is far away...

BTW, the source code for the firmware is offline or not available.

Please add support for vlan ASAP (r6250, v6300 v1 and v2) are missing.

To date, group VLAN / bridge is now supported on the latest firmware of the R6250.

Here is the link to the release notes.

    Hi all

I have 5 wireless devices must connect to the router.

I want to divide it into 2 groups:

    That is to say, 1, device A, B, C, group 2, device D, E.

I would like two groups cannot communicate with each other.

I've heard, it can be done by VLAN, is e2500 can adapt to what I need?

    What about EA3500 and EA4500?

I use G wireless, is what it means that ea4500 is out of choice even if it supports VLAN?

    Thank you all!

  • The switch SLM224G does support VLAN per port?

I'm looking for a simple solution create two LAN. One for my own and the other for my clients, who will be able to use the desktop computer with internet access. I only have one internet connection (ADSL over ISDN) and wil not get another just for my clients.

My own network should not be accessible or visible to users who use the PC clients. The other way around is authorized, but not really necessary. My setup requires me to connect to the switch to the (ISP) router, and the router has a LAN port not able to do anything related to VIRTUAL networks.

I read on the VLAN port to put here, where it is stated that creating separate LAN is just the ports in VLANS on the switch, nothing else to do... However, they used a NetGear smart switch.

I checked SLM224G of Cisco because it is affordable, has 24 ports (instead of 8 for the NetGear) and must support of VLAN. I read a lot about VIRTUAL networks, including:

«- Means the VLAN per port that you can reconfigure the ports to be in different VLANS.» VLAN per port does not confirm the 802. 1 q supported VLANS.

-802. 1 q VLAN means you can mark the VLANS with 802. 1 q headers to create a trunk between two devices carrying frames for several VLAN. 802 1 q VLAN confirms that there are also supported VLAN per Port. »

I knew by the sheets that the SLM224G supports 802. 1 q (tagged) trunking. So it should be, given the text above, also supports VLAN per port.

My question is if it indeed will support VLAN per port?

I am able to use it directly behind the router of my ISP and create two separate LAN?

If so, a supplementary question: how are the PC behind the switch (inside the two VLAN) removes the ISP router IP addresses? It will serve only of the two LAN or do I have to install a DHCP server in the other LAN?

    Any information is welcome!

    Thank you.

    Mr. Bertrand,

I read what you posted and I don't think the slm224g will do what your configuration you want to.  The reason behind all this, if you have installed 2 VLAN you will need 2 gateways for each network.  Since then just the ISP router and a network.  I'd get a router capable of VLANs and plug it into the router of the Internet service provider and then you can have up to 4 networks behind your router.  The rvs4000 is a router excellent gigabits, which supports up to 4 VLANS.  So if you need additional ports, you can get unmanaged switches and plug it into the router for added ports.

  • VLAN in PC5548 - is required L3 switch?

    Hello fellow networkers,

We have 4 PC s 5348 and several 54xx L2 switches used for desktop computers, printers, wireless APs, servers, etc. - without reflection or reason as to which is connected to a particular switch - has increased over time as many companies.

Due to the audit of security, we must now separate the data traffic. desktop computers, wireless etc. and implementing local area networks virtual.

We have 2 PC 5548 s recently bought to vlan servers with a cluster connection cascading other switches that will be take place computers in office, warehouse, printers etc. We were told the 5548 s also support features of L3, but reading of the record, it appears that they have no L3 routing function

    Simple question:

Can the servers (on 3 VLANs) + 1 connection with any other switches, being able to communicate with each other on the 5548 s or will we need to have a L3 switch?
(Our thoughts were that all ports may be able to communicate if they share the same vlan extra)

Thanks in advance for your help

    Bill

The 55xx series switches support the IPv4 routing and can be activated with the command,

    #ip Routing

However, it does not support routing VLAN. You will need a 3 layer switch that supports of VLANS, routing, 62xx, 70xx, 80xx, 81xx.

  • RV320 16 or 7 VLAN?

    Hello

According to its technical specifications and administration guide the RV320 supports 16 VLAN. But Microsoft device emulator allows you to add four new VLAN while 3 is already implemented, for a total of 7 VIRTUAL networks. Microsoft device emulator is based on the old firmware? Can anyone confirm that it doesn't support actually 16 VLAN tagged?

Also, what is the RV325? It seems that the same material with 14 LAN ports instead of 4. Any news on when it will be available?

    Thank you

    Hello

    The RV320 supports 7 VLAN.

The next RV325 supports 17 VLAN. I have the updated Administrator's guide to be more clear.

I appreciate your help that I will highlight.

  • Cisco SLM224G VLAN Trunk Help! -> Problem solved!

Hi, I have a few difficulties of implementation of the switch, I can't understand how to configure the network for VLANs created port. I have configured under management of VLANS, VLAN 10 and 20, I asigned ports e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6 with 10 PVID and e7, e8, e9, e10, e11, e12 with 20 PVID and the rest to defaul 1 PVID, frame SD = All + infiltration on filtering. Under port to VLAN-> VLAN10-> ports e1, e2, e3, e4, e5, e6 Tagged + e24 tag (I want this to be the trunk) and the tag VLAN20-> e7, e8, e9, e10, e11, e12 Tagged + e24. Theats all that I set up according to the SLM_Admin_Guide.pdf and I have connected the e24 (trunk port) to a Pf meaning Server (the server is configured with the same VLAN ID as on the switch), please someone tell me how to set up the trunk? I know that there is no option in the Port settings to define 'Access' or 'Trunk'... until this means? that the SLM224G does not support the VLAN Trunk? I saw some screenshots with the Linksys SLM224G and he had 'Access' or 'Trunk' setting... and Cisco does NOT work.  Help!

    Hello

Interesting, I see two different GUIs in your screen capture, it looks like two different computers. :-)

    But the big brother of the SLM, the series SRW and I am about what follows to the SRW series, because I do not have a SLM in front of me, I had put;

Step 1. the port settings interface return, leaving the PVID to 1 then do scroll down and save the option.

Step 2.  On this "ports setting photo GUI, you have, I would put the switch ports to shared resources in mode Trunk. If the port must not be tagged in the VLAN 1 only, then I leave the setting the port mode 'access '.

(Access mode allows a port belong only to one VLAN no marked only).

(shared mode allows the switch port belong to several VLANs marked, but still unmarked in one vlan only usually the vlan by default)

Step 3.  So I goto the "Vlan to the port' tab, Tagged for ports beloning to vlan 10 then do scroll down and save the option."

step 4   So I goto the "Vlan to the port' tab, Tagged for ports beloning to vlan 20 then do scroll down and save the option."

By default vlan1 in most SRW series brother would then be not identified on all ports and vlan10 and vlan 20 could be labelled on the appropriate ports.

  • Need help setting up a configuration of VLAN special using WRVS4400N

    Hi guys,.

I need your help on how to implement a configuration of VLAN somehow non-standard.

    The situation is the following:

The customer wants a WLAN set up for the company and the other for guests. Now, wouldn't that be not so difficult if we'd be using the internal internet connection. But the WRVS4400N will be used to implement wireless LANs / VLAN only.

The company uses the DHCP protocol on both of their subnets, provided by a Watchguard Firebox XTM510.

Now, what we would do is set up the back door #1 for the connection to the subnet of the client and the #2 for the connection to the optional subnet for the guests. The first problem is that we were not able to configure DHCP forwards to the VLAN2. It works very well on the 1st but the 2nd doesn't allow that either ENabled or disabled, grayed out DHCP.

To work around the problem that he would be allowed to set up DHCP WRVS4400N providing in itself for the subnet invited, but try that didn't work at all.

Is it possible? Thanks in advance!

    Best,

    Ralph.

  • IDSM2 on the inline 6500 IOS mode support?

    Hello

    I have a JOINT-2 running IPS5.1 (1 d) (recently updated to 4.x) software that sits on a 6500 IOS.

The IPS Device Manager shows gi0/7 and gi0/8 as well in Promiscuous mode. There is no option to change the inline mode and pair them up.

Is it so that JOINT-2 currently supports only Promiscuous mode?

If so, this module is always as IDS despite the execution of IPS5.1. Is it not? What is the advantage that I get after upgrade from 4.x to 5.1?

    -Vasanth

There are 2 pieces of the puzzle.

There is the JOINT-2 version and it takes in charge, but also the native IOS of Cat 6 K version and that it supports.

    Supports the v5.1 (1 d) JOINT-2

    (a) promiscuous mode.

    (b) mode InLine Interface pair (2 interfaces are matched to online tracking) and also

    (c) pair online mode of Vlan (2 VLANS on a single interface is matched for online tracking, you will also see it called inline-on-a-stick)

But for these features to be used, the code switch must also support the configuration on the side of the switch of the JOINT-2 for each of these 3 features.

Native versions of IOS prior to 12.2 (18) SXE will only support the Promiscuous on JOINT-2 mode.

12.2 (18) SXE and later versions support Interface InLine mode on JOINT-2 pair.

No native IOS version does currently support InLine Vlan pair on JOINT-2 mode (a new versions native IOS with this support is currently in development).

For inlining (IPS), you need to run a Native IOS version 12.2 (18) SXE and later and on the JOINT-2 run IPS versions 5.1 (or even older 5.0).

(NOTE: Cat OS 8.5 (1) takes in charge the 3 modes of JOINT-2.) Therefore, if you use cat instead of the native IOS OS, then run version 8.5 (1) to have access to all the features of IPS 5.1 (1) on the JOINT-2)

If you run a Native IOS version prior to 12.2 (18) SXE and the JOINT-2 then it can run in "Promiscuous" mode even if 5.1 (1) is responsible for the JOINT-2.

However, even in "Promiscuous" mode the IPS 5.1 (1) software has a few advantages.

There are several engines and engine parameters are only supported in version 5.1 and not the version 4.0. (So there are several signatures that are either one) not yet created for sensors 4.x, or b) signature 4.x is not as precise as the signature of 5.x in new engines.

(These new engines are proved invaluable in writing signatures to detect some of the new attacks that came out last year).

There are of course other benefits:

    For example:

    (1) risk of note to best aid priority to alerts.

    (2) fitlering more flexible mechanism for alerts that allows individual actions of fitlering

The 2 features above are only 2 of the new features that have been added in 5.0 and 5.1 that apply both of promiscuity and online modes.

  • The WAP4410N 802 VLAN assignment. 1 x dynamic?

    Hello

The WAP4410N does support assignment VLAN dynamic through authentication 802. 1 x?

The reason why I approach this point; I am able to configure an SSID on a WAP4410N with WPA2-Enterprise, in combination with the 802 network authentication. 1 x PEAP. I can correctly connect Windows, RT of Windows, Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices. But... I am unable to refer to VLAN another related to strategies of dial-up connection. For example; I want mobile devices such as iPhone and Windows Phone to be assigned to a VLAN specific. (Authenticator) Wireless Access Point must be able to support.

    This is my setup:

    Spplicants: Windows 8 / iPad...

    Authenticator: WAP4410N

Authentication server: Microsoft Server NPS (Network Policy Server)

I used PEAP 802.1 x (Protected EAP) with authentication by password (domain user). In fact, the suplicants connect with 802. 1 x to the authenticator. The authenticator communicates with the RADIUS authentication server. NAP is not between the two. It's just 802. 1 x authentication.

Any suggestions or do you know the dynamic assignment of VLAN weather is supported?

Hi, Boudewijn, AFAIK, DVA is not supported on this unit. The SSID is manually configured with the PVID and it is not an option in the 802. 1 x to set any activation of DVA.

  • RV220W v RV320 (best router to buy? Duplicate port?)

    Hey Cisco-ers,

Planning on buying a new business Router Firewall VPN in the next 24 hours and have a few questions that I would be grateful if someone could respond.

    1. I guess the most recent series of Cisco SMB router is the RV series with the rest having been that would be end of life?

    2. the more feature-rich and more powerful are the RV220W and the RV320?

    3. in addition to the integrated WiFi AP into the RV220W and the dual WAN in the RV320 there are all the other differences? More features in one over the other? I see that the RV320 might have a higher flow rate?

    4. the RV220W does not support port mirroring / SPAN only packet capture 1 MB of traffic (which, by today's standards, is not enough to get a specific look at the incoming/outgoing connections) but the RV320 not?

5 port mirroring is a big problem for me (to identify on my network bandwidth hungry devices!) so is it possible that put as a feature request for the RV220W? or is there a technical limitation? Is the physical material within a not as good RV220V?

Otherwise unless someone says something different it looks like the RV320 is the best router (rich in features and performance) you make less than £500? Please correct me if not.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Matthew,

    OK, here go us:

    1. I guess the most recent series of Cisco SMB router is the RV series with the rest having been that would be end of life? I don't put any RV series for pasture (EoL) recently.

    2. the more feature-rich and more powerful are the RV220W and the RV320? The RV320 and the RV325 were recently launched. The RV220W has been on the market for some time - so it is natural that the newer models have more features. We take our experiences and suggestions from you all and incorporate them into future models.

    3. in addition to the integrated WiFi AP into the RV220W and the dual WAN in the RV320 there are all the other differences? More features in one over the other? I see that the RV320 might have a higher flow rate? The RV320 and the RV325 have SSL VPN, USB broadband with failover, double WAN, etc. They are better suited for a several device deployment vs. an all-in-one/network in a box...

    4. the RV220W does not support port mirroring / SPAN only packet capture 1 MB of traffic (which, by today's standards, is not enough to get a specific look at the incoming/outgoing connections) but the RV320 not? Back to the above statement. -We work effectively on the next gen RV220W - which will include 802.11 AC.

5 port mirroring is a big problem for me (to identify on my network bandwidth hungry devices!) so is it possible that put as a feature request for the RV220W? or is there a technical limitation?  Is the physical material within a not as good RV220V? We would prob not right at the request of feature on this particular model of Michael.

Thank you for being a member of this community.
