Safari 6.2.8 shows prefixes of URL

When I open a URL in safari 6.2.8, it drops the prefix http:// or https:// in a few seconds, for example:

https://de.wikipedia.org to just de.wikipedia.org

Bad 'flagship' because as a user, I am in doubt after some time if my connection to the specific site is always encrypted or not.

It also makes it unnecessarily complex to copy and paste a URL, because the prefix is missing and it must be added manually.

Is it possible to disable the automatic compensation of the visible URL in Safari 6?

Firefox is more user-friendly in this matter, because it always shows the full URL.

In the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences > advanced > see the full address will show the address, but not the http/https protocol.

Apple has another way to show the encryption, however, this could only be added in 8 Safari and in Safari 6 are missing all together.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

  • Safari is no longer showing the Images from Google

Some time yesterday or today, Safari stopped showing pictures of Google and Yahoo on my MBP.  For example, I typed 'santa claus' in the line of the URL, and a blank page came, instead of a large number of images of Santa Claus.  Tried it on Firefox and it worked fine.  Quit safari, rebooted, no images.  Restarted, haven't tried again, no images.  Reinstalled OS X 10.11.4.  has tried again, no images.  All the while I had disabled extensions (ghostery, disconnection of google, etc.).

As it is not an extension preventing the loading images, it can be a third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the tab Security Deselect: plug-ins Allow. Quit and restart Safari to test.

If it makes a difference, the instructions of troubleshooting plugins here.

If it is not a plugin problem, in the Safari menu, click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab, then click: clear the history and data from the Web site

Quit and then restart Safari and then try an image search.

  • When I click on "Copy picture", when I use the dough, it's to show the image URL

    Hello

I'm having a problem about the exemplary Image resource. I need to copy and paste a lot of images to work.

I click on an image, holding control and then press "copy picture". But when I paste, it shows the URL of the image and not the image. I tried on different browsers and apps, but the same error occurs.

Can someone help me please? How should I do? It has changed from one day to the other.

    Thank you

It looks like you use context Menus to copy your images. Depending on your machine or software, each user will have different contextual shortcuts.

You might do better to use an application like SnapnDrag, which is free in its basic mode.

  • New tab. Show only the URL by default; no history

  • Show only the URLs typed in the address bar

Anyone know how to configure Firefox 6, so that it only shows the URL I manually typed in when I discovered the drop-down menu of the address bar or use the AutoComplete feature? It would be great if he shows me the most visited URL on top when I discovered the drop-down menu of the address bar.

I don't mind storing the cache of the Web sites I have visited so that future visits to the site are faster. But not a big deal if it can remove history and only remember my URLs typed in. I want it behaves like other browsers.

    See

You can keep all the features of the AwesomeBar in place including a space delimited by the tildea ("" ~ "") which would show you only the urls typed, and you would get all normal.

I think one of the main problems is the 3 lines of rich text to show what would be better in a single line of formatting.

I prefer to keep the full facilities of the AwesomeBar showing more than the default value and watch them on simple lines with the extension "oldbar" (2.0 KB to download), and with the extension 'location bar limit' (3.1 KB download) showing the options (80 results, 30 visible).

Typed is high up in frecency, so if you have pasted a url in the location bar that would really boost his side 3 times and you would almost never have to do this often once you have a base of good story.

Please mark "resolved" a response that will better help others with a similar problem - hope it was her.

  • Safari search/address bar of copy to URL problem

This has been a problem for about a year, I think that, maybe more, even if I don't specifically remember.

I often use search/address bar of Safari for searches on the internet, probably 90% of the time.  Sometimes, I want to share these search results with others.  The problem is, when I click in the address/search bar to select and copy the URL of the site, I visited, the URL is replaced with the search parameters that I had previously placed instead of the URL of the site that I actually visit.  It is not that this all the time, but very often.  Now that I'm trying to replicate, I can't, even though it took place just 20 minutes ago.  I was finally able to recreate by opening a new Safari window.  It is perhaps connected to tabs how do I open in the window?  Here is a screenshot.  Any ideas of what could be the cause?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

    Hello!

Just had my hard drive replaced and made a time machine backup. After a tedious process to find all my favorites, because it was not automatic (using this thread: bookmarks to Safari from Time Machine backup), I realize that, even though I have them all and they appear when I select Bookmarks > show all bookmarks, that they don't all appear in the bookmarks drop down like it did? It is not that big of a deal in addition to convenience, but if there is a way to fix it I'd love to know!

  • Immediately make input current URL after open Safari or open new tab

    Hello

When I open Google Chrome or open a new tab, I can type immediately the url. The cursor is active immediately in order to be able to type a URL and press ENTER to load.

In Safari, I have to click on the URL field first to make it active, and then I can enter the url. It's a not too expensive. I also want to be able to immediately enter my URL without clicking on the URL field.

Y at - it a setting or extension to make the work URL field immediately after the launch of Safari without having to first click on it?

Thank you very much for your help!

Safari should automatically put the fury in the url field without having to first click there and done in my case with Safari 9.0.3 and OS X 10.11.3 (but also did with all previous versions, I used). Possibly try to disable all extensions to see if that makes a difference.
