  Hello

  Background: I have a PS6100XS hybrid.  I have SAN HQ installed on a virtual machine.

  I was wondering if there is a way to monitor the statistics I/O of the volumes as the depth of queue, read/write statistics, etc.  Also, is there a way to see where the current volume resides (SSD or SAS 10 k disks)?  And finally, is there a way to capture the statistics of e/s data in a spreadsheet?

  In SANHQ, you can explore the volume level.   Disk queue depth can be seen at the level of the Member or the pool.

  Re: SSD/SAS.  No there is no way to see what's on the RAIDset RAIDset SAS vs hybrid.

  Re: Stats I/O.  You can print a variety of reports in PDF, CSV or XLS formats.

• Capacity issue series MCU 4500

  Hello

  I need to ask for a solution for a video conference 15 of the participant.  The meeting is between the main site of customers (1 standalone codec c40) and 14 others on remote sites.  Given that the other sites have no infrastructure my plan was mainly using functionality MCU Conferenceme to invite all other participants.

  I was also counting the c40 register with access to the builtin H323 MCU controller.  Which would be ok?

  1. based on the data sheets, it seems that Conferenceme is limited to 12.  Is this correct?  15 party conference would not be reached here.  All the suggestions here

  2. I could involve some clients Movi.  Now, I have to add a starter of VCS originally C40 + MCU 4501

  Also for the 4501 with 6 to 12 HD Port Option (SD 12 to 24 Ports). What is once the Conference Expands to 12, it will be downrated from HD to SD for all participants?

  Finally what bandwidth up/down would you recommend for this conference say 15 part to the quality of the SD?

  Since you need 15 participants I would say ither to buy 6-12 HD functionality, in order to double the capacity or

  go for a physical upgrade to a MCU 4510 (with 20 dedicated ports of capacity for video / audio 20 / 20 content)

  The SD / HD mode is a global setting, you can configure the appliance to use only SD or ports only HD, you can not mix (for ex you can not use 3 HD and SD 6-port, you can either use 6 HD or SD 12 (or double the capacity with upgrade key))

  The Porter built in of the MCU can handle a maximum 25 points of endpoint recorded, but it has very basic functionality, I highly recommend using a VCS like dedicated GK and record the MCUS and endpoints of the VCS

  Regarding bandwidth, I'd go for at least 768 Kbps (you can use 512 however more body weight, best quality)

• Config for the SAN array issues

  Hi all
  We have a HP StorageWorks SAN x 1600 with the x 6 hard drives of 2 TB. The idea is to use as shared for our iSCSI network storage (we have x 2 ESXi hosts).
  The SAN is running Windows 2008 Storage Server and it is quite simple, using the ACU (matrices configuration utility) to create required tables (logical drive). So, the first port of call is to set up the berries.
  We have our minds set on using RAID10, for performance reasons. So, if configure us all the drives in a RAID10 array, which gives us 6 TB of usable space. However, a very large "single" painting would be allowed from a performance point of view, or would it be better to divide it? Taking into account, that we have x 6 physical disks in the SAN (and x 4 min are necessary for RAID10).
  Also, I read somewhere that it is better to have 1:1 relationship of the array to LUN/Datastore - is this correct? In this case, we had better divide, but then we have to rethink our RAID levels.
  Note: we use vSphere 5 and will be a mixture of VMs: exchange, sql, web server, servers citrix etc.
  Any suggestions for how to best use the x 6 hard drives of 2 TB in our SAN?

  More chucks in the table, the better performance.

  It is not just "better", you must configure a LUN by the data store. That said, there is no reason that you cannot configure your table 6 TB with 2-3 logics LUN. This would lead to better use of multiple paths.

  Edit: I misread the statement. There is no recommendation that I've ever heard of involving a 1:1 relationship between the table and the data store. This would violate the rule more "spindles".

  That said, in my reading of the quickspec, only 2 TB disks never sold on the X 1600 were 7200 RPM SATA. It's probably worthy of being honest about what you expect from this - RAID levels and layouts LUN will not perform this in a Citrix/Exchange environment.

• EqualLogic SAN volume issue

  As I am virtualizing our infrastructure, a thought occurred to me.  First, the Installer - 3 hosts vSphere 4 connected to a SAN EqualLogic PS6000XV network.  We use iSCSI on the network for connectivity maps.  I was put in service a volume by comments on the side EqualLogic.  We did not do anything with the snapshots or replication - that will come later.  Our immediate goal is just to virtualize our servers and continue our backup and restore as usual procedures.  This is likely to change so we can use snapshot technologies, but also the stuff of VMware.  Anyway, to my question.  Should I continue this way?  One volume per person.  Or should I do a large volume and then put my VMs on the single volume?  On the SAN, the whole thing is configured in RAID-50.  I made only a handful of non-critical servers to date.  I'm not sure what are the best practices in this scenario.  What worries me is that if I continue this way, I could lose some instant advantage later or something like that.

  While the expansion of VMFS volumes is less a problem in vSphere that it was in the past, the point is that having a unit logic by VM number increases management and effort if you need to grow the hard disk to the virtual machine.  If you need to add 20 GB for drive E: one of your virtual machines, it's easy to do when using large volumes because you probably the free space to simply increase the size of the virtual disk.  If you use the method "a unit logic by VM number", you may initially increase the size of the LUN on the EqualLogic, then extend the VMFS volume in vSphere, and finally to increase the size of the virtual disk across comments.

  Another part of the equation is the backup of the virtual machine.  Many tools available for VMware backup can make backup 'LAN-free' by connecting directly to the storage.  To do this, you must present the VMFS volumes on a Windows backup server and the software then reads directly from there, rather than transfer on each ESX host network.  If you use a product that saved using this method, you must present all of your VMFS volumes to this server from Windows instead of just one or two larger LUN.

  I have seen many different deployments of VI3/vSphere and saw the two one LUN per VM model, as well as the virtual machine of 15-20 by the largest LUN model.  In almost all cases, those who did a unit number logic by VM regretted and find it difficult to manage without any real advantage.

• First on a San, lag issues

  I'm an editor and motion graphics videographer for a corporate company that just bought a NexGen SAN system (it was a bargain price-wise). It's basically a RAID of SSD with hard drives RAID regular for long-term storage. When files are used frequently, they are copied to the SSD. My HP Z400 has a 10 Gbit/s fiber installed PCIe card and I.T. has used a software called metaSAN (Tiger Technology) for monitoring the system (the drive is mounted as a drive letter). When I copy my Premiere and After Effects projects, not only I would get horrible playback with uncompressed images, but the offset to scroll my files has been terrible. However, I was able to load each file uncompressed Quicktime in QuickTime player and he reads 100% smooth. Only in the first he stutters.

  I.T. subsequently returns the software metaSAN due to the incompatibility of the backup software. Now the SAN drive is just mounted using the same drive letter. Not only is the worst of the reading, but I lock up first when I hit the game. When I load screw terrible QuickTime QuickTime player, read files back files.  I tried several combinations of cache it locally, hiding on the SAN, project on the SAN, first project locally. Basically, I'm back for editing 100% with my GSpeed RAID10 drive.

  I read a lot on the problems of creation and it is with XSAN, but I have not found anything on a regular SAN. Why would this happen? I.T. is based 100% on Windows and everything is on a domain (I do a test with my computer out of the area and the same problem).

  Is there a solution or a fix?

In addition, every editor I know make some AE comps in a more user friendly codec for editing (ProRes for Mac/DNxHD for PC) and never place a file of the codec in a timeline Animation. Since ProRes 4444 came out, I have yet to find a good use of Animation on the Mac codec. On the PC side really look in the free DNxHD codec. They are much lighter and serve to your workflow much better and with high quality. This will cure a lot of your problems "stutter", I think.

• Capacity issues - information planning does not appear in the dashboard / rims reports

  Hi all

  I'm still getting my head around time involved with the collection of data for projects.

  I had a data manager, collection of information on approximately 200 systems in 2-3 weeks, still in the dashboard I don't see any information I want to learn.

  If you look at the attached screenshots, you will see for the dashboard of the company, I have a 190 systems all in my a project for this company. Among them, only 2 have started to show that they have inventory. In data manager himself most systems already have some inventory information, but this has not filtered through the dashboard yet, apart from these two you see here.

  In my summary inventory systems capture screen you can see a lot of systems that display zeros in all of the inventory. In data manager if I find the system data, I can see his stats for most servers on all sections.

  So I have two questions:

  • Should I worry that this info does not yet show after 2-3 weeks?
    
  • How could I go to take 3 systems in this collection and the pulling of data using custom reports? I created a separate project for these three systems, added to them, they have 2-3 weeks of data collection already, but when I run my custom reports on these systems a lot of data is empty and does not appear do not, even if these three systems have all data and performance data I need when I view on the data Manager server.

  Here's the thing... If you add systems to the collector and then create a data sync before the first inventory collection... you ship a bunch of zeroes on the scoreboard.

• Capacity issue

  Can of print production support for AFP to PDF conversion? I have a project which should convert 50 million documents from AFP to PDF, then on a daily basis, there will be about 25 k which will need to be converted. Production printing support this capability? I was not able to find comparative data for analysis.

  Just like info, I'm not ready to contact an exec for sale at the moment, I am researching just our options. I need to determine if I should exclude Adobe for this project.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Of course, Production Print can convert AFP to PDF format (or any other output format based on the page, by the way), but you have to be clear about what kind of AFP you use as input. The basic assumption is composed entirely of AFP, that is with all the online resources; If this isn't what you have, you may need to pre-treat your AFP to resolve all the dependencies.

  By experience, you can expect at a rate of about 1,000 pages / processor / minute. This will depend on the complexity of the AFP.

  You should definitely consider LC Production Print for you needs - feel free to post any follow-up questions.

  I have a few problems in ASM 4.6 and SAN HQ 3.0.

  SAN AC 3.0:
  I get alerts email saying that network connectivity is not even if there is no network connectivity issues.  The message is below:

  • [ID: 14.2] A connection could not be made.
  • The HQ SAN server issued the group SNMP requests, some or all failed.  This condition is probably due to the congestion of the network or has no network connectivity.  The server will try again in 60 seconds.  Check your network connectivity and that the storage group is online.  If the problem persists, contact your Dell support provider.

  ASM 4.6:
  For some reason when ASM is refreshing the host, it never ends with one of the hosts (in a cluster).  It sticks to the discovery of Cluster connectivity and I don't understand why.  I also get e-mail alerts saying that Smart snapshots failed.

  If I run SAN HQ Client I can watch a critical alert 14.1: an unexpected Exception in Service. SAN HQ seems to be connected, but there is no newspaper.

  I'm trying to upgrade to 3.2.0.8291 but it's the same problem. Change anything on our side, and I test a snmpwalk with the same community, it works.

  You have any ideas?

  Uncheck the event ID 14.2 (under review) and apply the change to all your groups... Please keep in mind that a restart of the service is necessary for entry into force of the amendments.

  Windows 8, i-7 16 GB of RAM. McAfee, set the parameters but same problem. No difference in Mode without failure. I deleted the global data and tried all the other recommendations site TB but still no change. I have a good amount of emails in the archive. Not sure if that makes a difference.

  I'm at something of a loss. However, is there anything in your startup folder in the start menu?

  On your machine? using SS Drive (SSD), disc encryption? anything else related to security? Something your employer uses (military at least use chips)

  If you go to the Help menu and click on troubleshooting information there is a button to open the profile folder. USDE as and in the windows Explorer window to get up the properties for the .default file and see how he is. My profile is a lot GB in size with 100s of thousands of emails. Partially retained for test capacity issues.

  We are on the right track with several beta customers and get closer to iron it on pending product and capacity issues as a result of the beta testing so far.  These are intended for our fall 14 release and we will probably promote this beta to availability, controlled at that time here.

  That said, I wanted to clarify the scope of the beta features.  What we worked on looks at the scenario where the customers want to have multiple contacts for the same individual, which translates addresses duplicate intentional.  The case of the main use here is one person to become a leader for more than a product of activity such as printers and laptops as a simple example.  The way in which the contact is fed, rated a lead, sent to the turnover, etc., can be very different for each product, so we would manage records in multiple contacts for the same person (with the same e-mail address).  We had to take a step-by-step approach to move away from e-mail as a unique ID.  The first phase of this project added support for contacts without email at all.  It will be generally available with our version of the coming summer.

  As we continue to move forward, we will turn our focus to support several e-mail addresses (personal view, work, different names, etc.) for the same person and to tackle the problem of identity resolution.  It is still a little further, but is the last step to finish the job that we have already begun.
