Satellite A30 - CD-ROM does not work correctly
My CD ROM is not working properly because the drivers corrupt. I tried uninstalling etc. How to load new drivers or even reformat from the recovery disk when the CD-ROM drive does not work?

I agree with Maurice. If the drive can read a recovery media or any other bootable media there must be a hardware problem and I assume that the optical disk drive is defective.

Qosmio G20-117: bad pixels on the screen and the CD rom does not work
Hello
I have a problem with the computer hardware. I got a Qosmio G20-117 and you have a problem with the cdrom and the screen. Got bad pixels on the screen, and cdrom does not work. I live in the United Kingdom, so I tried signing up to them to choose the computer before the computer is out of warranty.
Whenever I register, it says sorry, an unexpected error has occurred, please try again later. I have tried at least 20 times since yesterday and it doesn't seem to work. I have them even called and they told me, the service is stopped and will be fixed this morning but yet nothing works.
Any solution?
Hello
If you want to contact Toshiba service partner in your country then why you don't call them?
Toshiba page you will find the database with all service providers in the world.
http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?PF=trueI don't think that you need to register something apart from the serial number of your laptop. But in my opinion this could also be done at the point of service.

It won't read a DVD. It will not read ANY CD or DVD. I tried 12 different CD/DVD. This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it. I had added Nero. I removed Nero. I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled. He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work. The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '. It is not the case. It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.
I did everything suggested that past discussions. I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly. It is not the case.
I tried to get various programs to recognize. They cannot see the installed media.
I uninstalled iTunes.
Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.
Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.
Thank you.

Satellite U200: DVD - ROM does not work correctly
DVD - ROM not working. After the fire of two optical drive DVD - RW, loss of ability to burn and can read only CD with difficulties of the sum. It is not possible to recovery operating system.
Look like lost laser precise positioning device and can no longer read high-density data on DVD, but on the sum of CD singing can be found with difficulty.
Your description sounds like a reader lens problem.
Probably the lens can not calibrate in the right position, and that's why the drive can't handle DVD media.Bad news buddy this problem is not repairable with updates. Above all it s a hardware problem and the drive should be replaced!
I would recommend contact the ASP which is responsible for you country to organise a replacement.

Equium A100-299-CD/DVD-ROM does not work
My CD/DVD-ROM on my Toshiba Equium A100-299 won't work, do you have any idea why?
I tried to fix it by changing the IDE secondary channel IDE ATA/ATAPI in PIO Mode only, but it doesn't seem to work...
I get famous I I/O-warning, whenever I try to open programs and DVDs on it. But it works when I put an audio cd...
Hello
If all goes well it s not a malfunction of the equipment.
We should be optimistic ;)Check this box: go to the Device Manager and remove the drive from the device.
After restarting again, the operating system should recognize and initialize the disk again. In addition, you can try to clean the lens gently and carefully, maybe it helps

CD ROM does not work because 2nd atapi master is not compatible
When I turn on my laptop it appears on the error screen: 2nd master atapi incompatible.
Windows xp professional comes up and try to use cd rom and it as disappeared from my computer and cannot even reinstall because no driver.
If anyone can help with some basic advice would appreciate your help
Hello
Replace you the CD/DVD drive to another?
In my opinion, this message because the drive supports bad master/slave settings and the BIOS can not find STRANGE.Have you tried to access the BIOS and to set the default settings? Please check if it is possible!
In addition, I would recommend to remove the CD/DVD from the laptop drive. Start Notepad, and then start the Windows operating system.
In this case, the OS should t recognize the ODD.
Then stop the laptop and insert the disc again.
After you have inserted and correctly installed the drive to boot up the laptop again. If all goes well after this procedure the BIOS recognize the drive again.

The error code 39 is very similar to error code 31.
This code is known to me. I saw this question here in the forum from time to time. The solution is very easy! remove the upper and lower filter registry ;)!

DVD Rom does not work in the Dimension 2400
I have a Dell Dimension 2400, operating on Windows XP service pack 3, him comes from the computer with a CD burner and I need to install a DVD player, so I bought a HL-DT-ST-DVD-Rom GDR8163B, I installed the DVD and the computer recognizes the DVD-ROM and device manager says it works fine.
When I try to use the DVD to play DVDs or CDs, it starts to run, but slow, then after a few seconds it stops, if I go to my computer, the drive is there and if I click the icon it says insert the floppy, puppy little drive upward and then stops.
I had also installed on this computer Sonic Record now Version 7, I removed that thought it might be in conflict, but no help.
I tried the fix for WIndows to delete the upper and lower limits
I was also told that the computer is old and she might need a firmware update or something?
Can anyone help?
Osprey, you reason the drive was bad, I went and picked up another drive today and it works great, thanks for all your help.

I'm not sure if this will help but try this:
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list of devices CD/DVD.Then beginning of the registry (regedit.exe) and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
