SATA3

I have a P7 - 1148P (QU140AA #ABA) and have installed an SSD. It works very well but it could run faster if I could hook it to a connection SATA3, said.

My question: my P7 - 1148P has such a connection?

Ahhhh... so another example of gibberish in the world of computer technology.   Looks like you get something that you don't have!  You think you have found the SATA III when in fact, you have only SATA II.

Sneaky of HP (no prob all manufacturers).

After 2 years, the second HARD drive (not hybrid) makes noises and died a week later. System on C: (Master HDD) worked well (always originally pre installed one of the factory).
I decided to switch to a 500gig SSD Samsung Evo 840 by cloning disk HARD hybrid on the first master of science channel. He cloned the original perfectly and I swapped the drives like this: the SSD remained in the notebook on the channel master and work always good HARD drive in the box of spare parts to have a disk of emergency for the future...

like this, it worked flawlessly almost 8 months. So frequently a warning window open with the message that the RAM full soon will give the Advisor to close some applications. With the Member States, 'Resscoursenmonitor' tool, I had to kill the process svchost.exe and sometimes spoolsv.exe down 50% load and I could work on until the next day that the alert window was. • SATA - SATA2 or SATA3 card?

    Hello HP,.

I have a laptop of HP 630 and want to install an SSD in the machine.

However, I do not exactly know what version of the SATA it supported.

The product number is A3N44PA #ABG.

I read the other posts on this forum on issues simillar.

Therefore, I installed and ran PC Wizard 2013 and can provide the following details:

    NorthBridge: Intel Sandy Bridge
    SouthBridge: Intel HM65

    General information:
Disk controller: Intel 6 Series Chipset Family 6 port SATA AHCI Controller

    Features of disk controller:
    Mode: SATA

    AHCI: Yes

    Legacy IDE: Yes

    NCQ: Yes

    Port multiplier: No.

    eSATA: No.

    I/o ports: 1 o available
    AHCI Version: 1.30

    Bandwidth: 6 Gb/s

    Port #0: Det ATA Device
    Port #1: No device-
    Port #2: No device-
    Port #3: No device-
    Port #4: No device-
    Port #5: No device-

According to the recording, the bandwidth is 6 GB/s so in theory drive a SATA3 would operate at full speed -?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    See you soon!

  • HP Pavilion 15-b162sl Sleekbook Hd for 500 GB SATA3 SSD upgrade

I wanted to ask if the model object supports a hard drive of 500 GB SATA3 SSD, more I wanted to know how to take recovery on the new disk partitions, so you can still take advantage of the restoration of the system from the bios.

    Thank you for your support.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See Page 56. Replacing the hard drive on this model is more difficult than the ordinary laptop. You must remove the whole top cover.

If you want to transfer partitions on the new drive, you must make a clone. Acronis True Image Home works very well and has a fully functional trial version of 30 days to www.acronis.com.

You will also need a usb adapter to SATA for this and you need to do a sizing partitions unless sure that you don't try to do recovery or system partitions very small or certain things like Windows backup will not work.

Post back if you need help most. Yes, you can certainly use a 500 GB SATA III SSD. Personally, I have a Samsumg 840 Evo 512 concert in my own laptop.

  • Support for HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 SATA3

Hi all, I am new on this forum!

I registered ask if someone can clear my mind on the SATA3 supported for this device.

I have read the manual and I see it has Intel HM77 chipset which has 2 port SATA3 a 4 SATA2 ports

Now, the Sleekbook has a SATA and a mSATA and it was written in the manual on page 98:

    300 MB/s transfer rate

So, it stops at speeds SATA2?
How can I check if it supports real SATA3 speeds?

It is important for me because I intend to buy an SSD, SATA is only 3 Gbps might I choose a cheaper SSD rather than buying one that uses the full bandwidth of SATA3!

    Thanks to advice

On a SSD this isn't all about bandwidth. Average speed of transfer is a better measure of the performance of every day, but if you think that you will save a lot by buying a SATA-II disk to proceed.  Unfortunately, I have no access to any better information that you do and all I can say is the HM77 Express chipset supporting up to 2 ports SATA-III of x. I'm not aware of any HP laptops using processors Intel Core gen 3 or higher which is not SATA-III.

    Try SiSoftware Sandra... free:

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_sandra_lite/download/ae20fdcecdc2f0645c983a50d4b3add5/

If you click on the storage device - disk, it will provide the type and speed of your sata ports under the Articles of transfer mode...

  • X 220 mSATA; SATA2 or SATA3?

    Hey everybody,

I'm in love with my X 220 greatly and did not feel as if it was insufficient in any way, except that now I need a little more memory space.

    Right now I have:

160 GB Intel SSD (came with it)

60GB OCZ SSD in the port of mSATA

I would like to replace it with a lot more great mSATA SSD and then use the Intel SSD for storage of backups or other things in that sense.

The question I have, is the port of SATA2 or SATA3 mSATA?  If SATA3, I would like to take advantage of it by using a SSD like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226321

Now my boot time since the bootloader for the Linux connection manager is 4.6 seconds (very custom installation of Archlinux) and it is very catchy, but I can't help but wonder if I can do it faster ;-)

I have the Core i7 version if that makes a difference.

    Thank you!

    mSATA port is SATAII.

  • XPS15 (L521x). 840evo SSD running at speed SATA2, does NOT speed SATA3.

I bought a L521x was fitted with a 512 MB SSD, which was a 830 SSD from Samsung manufactured for Dell as equipment of OEM for which software Wizard did not work (IE I never checked before HD speed).

Recently, I upgraded the original SSD with the Samsung SSD 1 TB 840evo and I started to manage the new SSD with magician. Now the bad news discovered is that, although I was expecting a performance gain:

    (1) the Windows index on the HD has not changed: always 7.7;

    (2) Wizard reports the speed SATA2 instead of the expected to the SATA channel SATA3.

I know that the intel HM77 chipset supports the SATA3 specification.

The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x 64. The boot is via the BIOS (not UEFI). The partition table is the MBR (not GPT). The system is updated with the latest version of the BIOS and latest drivers. Of course replace the HD, I used the original connectors provided by Dell with Notepad.

What wrong with my setup? In other words: why the SSD running at speed instead of SATA3 SATA2?

    Thanks in advance.

I found information that A16 has developed because there are poblems to the disks that were connected through SATA3 and this is the reason why they wer strangled to SATA2.

I asked my supervisor... no new version comes out. You can stay with the A14.

A15 should be fine or any lower version should be fine. Download it from the Dell site. The software allows a drop in ratings.

  • HP Pavilion 15-n067nr: HP laptop with Sata3 only detected as Sata2

All the information I can find online about my model stipulates that it is SATA3. Given his age and the fact that it supports same USB3.0, I don't see why he would not support SATA3 as well.

However, after the upgrade my hard drive to a Samsung 500 GB SSD 850 Evo, the speeds are half what they should be and there is a message stating that the system supports NO Sata3.

Is it a driver based problem? Something related chipset AMD I'm missing? I ran all the drivers on the HP site for my laptop. The question still persists.

    Help, please!

    Hello

USB 3.0 and SATA 3 are two different things. The plug, most likely your machine uses SATA 2. Please use a tool mentioned on the next post to check:

  • Problems of E6420 with SSD SATA3

I've been running my E6420 with a standard drive RPM Hitachi 7 k for over a year without any problems.  For reference, the disc label shows SATA 3 Gb/s (i.e. SATA2).

I recently got a neutron GTX SSD Corsair, which of course supports SATA3.  When installing in Bay SATA internal of my E6420, the BIOS usually does not recognize the disc at all, although sometimes the BIOS sees it, but Windows 7 does not start with various "I/o error',"General read error"or"missing bootmgr"messages.

Interestingly, if I put the SSD in an eSATA enclosure, the SSD is systematically identified correctly in the BIOS and Windows 7 installs and starts well enough, but at slow speeds of the eSATA port.

Now...  Before point us to the drive being bad, I installed the SSD drive in a desktop equipped with a port SATA3 and DSS ran flawlessly at full speed.

So, it seems NOT to be a problem with the drive.

That said, it's always a weird situation that, apparently, Bay SATA internal of my E6420 is very happy with the conduct of a RPM Hitachi 7 disc k SATA2 speeds up, but has problems with a SATA3 SSD.

Any ideas?  Is it possible to control the internal SATA Bay and perhaps force mode SATA2 or SATA3?  I guess that all this should be automatic...

    Thank you!

Well, I'm happy to announce that my neutrons Corsair GTX is now functioning very well in my E6420.  Unfortunately, it took 2 motherboard replacement, but now I'm all good!  ATTO shows 450-500 MB / s, which is awesome!  Thanks for all the tips on the road, just the world - but it looks like it was just a problem of material in the end.

  • HDD and DVD problem SATA1 and SATA3

Yesterday my computer started to have problems with Seagate on SATA3 (disc L) disc. Finally my L drive has not even appear under my computer. After that, I noticed that my DVD ROM is not appear as a drive letter more either. I have an E521.

Boot Samsung on SATA disk 0.

    Burner DVD player SATA 2.

DVD ROM was in SATA 1.

Seagate disc L was on SATA 3.

I have SATA 0 (boot disk) and 2 SATA DVD burner. Both known and always good work.

If I move the burner DVD SATA 1 or SATA 3, it does not appear in my computer.

If I add L or DVD-ROM SATA drive 2 neither one works there either.

SATAs are turned on in the BIOS.

It seems that the SATA-1 and SATA 3 work at all and when I try 2 devices which were attached to SATA 1 and SATA 3 on SATA2 they fail there also.

Is is possible that the SATA-1 and SATA 3 are "toast" and "grilled" these 2 devices when they got out?

The SATA-1 and SATA 3 attached somehow?

After extensive troubleshooting, it seems that only SATA 0 and SATA2 actually work more and DVD ROM or Seagate Drive L will work on SATA 2 (a known port work.)

If I just plug in and go to F2 under SATA options, each unit is actually recognized in the BIOS but never appears in my computer or in storage devices in administrative tools.

Nothing has changed I was runnning like that for more than a year.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • 8 drive raid 5 or 50, and SATA3 vs SATA2

Have a SATA3 RAID with SATA3 readers card will be significantly higher then a SATA2 RAID/HD configuration? Or if I have enough disks in a RAID, SATA2 disks will be good enough?

If I have 8 drives on a RAID card (I have the Adaptec 6805 in mind), regardless if it is SATA2 or SATA3 and whatever the final capacity, it is advantageous to have a 8 RAID-5 disk (7 data + 1 parity) performance, or 8 drive RAID-50 (3 data + 1 parity), multiplied by 2?

Regarding storage benefits, in a reasonable 'ideal' world, having an 8 drive RAID, it will be perfect to have everything in the same RAID (apart from the disk to Boot and applications, of course). Or be a separate RAID (4 x cheap HDs in RAID-0, for example) for export, Cache and swap file, something which is better?  On the other hand, if I already have 12 drives in the case, would not be a single disc 12 RAID handle all the necessary flow?

PS: I work a lot with uncompressed 4:2:2 10-bit, image sequences and sequences of AVC-Intra. Where my band need disk bandwidth.

    Frederic,

The main difference between on one hand and raid3 raid5 / raid4 however is distributed by report dedicated to parity.

All three raid formats are very good, but in some cases, it may be preferred over the other.

What is the difference between dedicated or distributed parity?

In the case of distributed parity, a reconstruction of the table requires W actions on all players.

In the case of dedicated parity, a rebuild will require actions on all drives minus one W.

For that reason, the reconstruction will be more effective with a dedicated with distributed parity parity. RAID3/4 are more effective with new buildings than raid5.

ATTO is a rather unknown to consumers, but they are the only one to offer raid4.

Areca is relatively well known, even among consumers and are the only ones offering raid3.

You mentioned 12 discs, so with this in mind, I made my suggestion for an alternative configuration.
