  I have a satellite 1000 Z2 with a windows xp operating system. When I turn on the computer, I get the message "cannot find the operating system". I tried using the recovery disk, but I get an error message saying that there is a mistake of partitioning, and it does not work. I watched utility recovery options to see if I can reformat the hard disk that you use this method, but I'm out of my League and don't know what do the options mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it means that your hard drive is broken or is a failure.

  If you have a bootable diskette that puts in the BACK, use it and see if it recognizes your hard C disc drive (or whatever your drive letter). If she sees it then do a DIR and see if your files are still there. If it does not find your hard drive chances are, there not.

  Im having trouble setting up my satellite 1000 as host on a network. It has a network port, but is not acknowleging that there is nothing plugged into it. I think I need to activate my network card, but have no idea how.

  Are you sure that there is really a network card installed in your machine? On some models, there is a connector, but it is not connected to any network card.
  Check the Device Manager if you are not sure.

  I would like to help please by connecting my Satellite 1000 to
  a digital projector to make a Power Point presentation.
  I use other laptops to work and am quite familiar with the process. However, I could not the 1000 to work.
  I have connected using the blue monitor port and tried to select RGB using Fn + F5, but as a first step, nothing is displayed on the projection screen - no rocking. Finally, my laptop screen is displayed on the screen, but not on the laptop, which completely freezes.

  I think the Satellite 1000 came with two memory slots and was initially equipped with 256 MB of RAM. It is expandable to 512 MB total RAM.

  I have a Satellite 1000-Zx which I recently rebuilt since the original CD (for various reasons...). I'm now getting occasional graphic problems which points me Intel of the site to get the latest pilot chart of Microsoft error report.

  However, as I recall I did it before and had problems with the driver advised by Intel, but was eventually done in the right direction by someone here, however I cannot now find the post or even remember my login ID (this is probably a couple of years).

  I have a M 82830 Chipset and am running driver version 6.13.1.2004 dated 02/15/02, can someone tell me what is the correct version for this machine?

  Video card on your laptop must be Intel 830 MG. Intel download page check and maybe you will find latest driver. Google around a bit and I am sure that you will find enough pages to download the latest version of the driver for this card for Windows XP Home edition.

  It s always a good idea to update the BIOS. Thus, it would be the best you try the BIOS updated and then reinstall the graphics card driver. You can also (if it isn't already) check www.intel.com and download the drivers from there, they are sometimes more up-to-date than the drivers of toshiba. :)
