Any help with my problem apppreciate anyway be great.

Hello

In my opinion there must be something wrong with the power of power electronics, as I suggested in your other display.

  • Satellite A10 dies after the power LED blink

    Hello

I have a problem with the power supply of my Toshiba Satellite A10. Sometimes, after the computer sat for some time, I have a problem with the power. The "plugged power cable" - LED will start to blink and shortly after, the computer just dies.

It can also have the time to go into a lower energy state before he does. When it happened once, it will most likely happen also when I restart the computer, but after a much shorter time. WXP won't even have time to start. If I stop to select the source of start-up, the problem will occur anyway, this isn't the software. It should also be noticed that when the computer is not turned off, the 'smart power' - is on correctly.

I know that my battery is not very good. Completely loaded, the computer can run for maybe 3 minutes with only the battery. I know that I must have a battery connected, even if I use the power cable, but this occurs even when the mine problem. The battery would be pretty bad not even allow me to use the computer with a cable?

It should be added, that sometimes I can use the computer for long periods of time without this problem to happen. I also have a problem with the battery not being not properly in physical contact with the pins of the computer, but this isn't the problem here, because I have the same problem with the battery removed and me holding the battery in place.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello

You description is very long and detailed and it of still not easy to say what's wrong.
Usually, the DC-In witness lights up green when DC is provided FRO the AC current. If the output voltage of the adapter is abnormal or if power outages, this indicator flashes orange.

So I think that is your AC adapter malfunctions or there is something wrong with the electronic power supply on the motherboard.

    Hi nclaude,

Normally, you enter by turning on the laptop by pressing the ESC key, then F1 to bios.

If you can only change the time, it could be that you without administrative rights in the bios.

Perhaps you or someone else has entered a supervisor password to save the bios of unauthorized changes!

But you can also boot CD-ROM by pressing c (for the cd Rom) in the startup process.

    hope this helps you

  • Satellite A10 - boot priority must be changed

    Hello world

I have an old Satellite A10 here, and I'm supposed to put a new operating system on it.
Problem: He doesn't let me boot from the CD/DVD!
In the BIOS (APCI BIOS version = 1.30), I can not change the boot priority, which is I can not put the DVD drive as the first boot device.
By pressing F12 or 'C' when you turn on the laptop don't boot options not present either.

In another thread, I read that you can change the boot device by selecting devices to boot images that can be seen under the TOSHIBA sign during the power supply of the laptop is just turned on. How do you do that? The TAB and arrow keys do not work for me...

There in the windows, the utility TOSHIBA HWSetup startmenu which is password protected. In the manual it says that you can change the priority of priming (from inside of windows!), but unfortunately the owner does not remember any password it have probably set, so I can't change the boot sequence for there either.
but in any case it must be possible to boot from the CD without access to windows, where windows no longer works...

Is there yet another possibility to use a "connector wrapping parallel haven" seeing that I don't know how its done or used?

    Who has ideas?

    A new HD?
What kind of HD am I looking for?
is a HD for a nootbook oke?
Or are there restrictions for a HD satellite A10?

    Kees Folmer
    http://www.csfolmer.nl

    HEY Kees,

There are other utilities that you can use to check your hard disk (Norton Disk Doctor for example) but CHKDSK is as good as all the others.

If you get repeated hard disk problems, then this is a good indication to a new hard drive. I suggest you try to backup your data even if you can't always. I'm not aware of any restrictions on the ability of any hard drive that you choose for your A10, but it must of course be the same as your existing drive form factor. You can also consider using a drive with a speed higher than the original drive.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A10 - does not start correctly

I put in the recovery cd, but I do not have the cause of xp, it is said start windows 98 but im on a xp pro I got when I bought the laptop. So, if any of it can help?

    HI Johan,.

If you are unable to boot from your hard drive, then your only other option will be to boot from a CD-ROM.

Most of the commercially available backup utilities (Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, etc.) include such a bootable CD. Supplied with your laptop product recovery CD is very probably a stripped down version of Norton Ghost, which is specifically designed to format your hard drive and then restore an image of 'Phantom' of the original OEM software.

It is quite possible for your hard drive to be damaged and have still LED lights when it is accessed. The damage might be the physical mechanism of the player, or the lining of the surface of the platters etc.. A CD bootable one of backup utilities will probably include a version of CHKDSK, you can run to test the integrity of your hard drive. Norton, for example, include a copy of Disk Doctor.

If you have a copy of the original Windows installation CD, you can boot from that in the recovery console and try to repair what is damaged on your hard drive, assuming that the problem is that the damaged or missing files. In principle, you can use the XP Home Edition CD to do this only if the damaged files are not specific to XP Pro to which cases they will not on HE drive.

  • Satellite A10: Cannot recover system with recovery CD

    Hej everyone!

I was struggling with a strange problem lately, I can not understand yet, so if anyone has any ideas so pls...

I have 2 laptops Satellite A10. I lost the CD of recovery to one of them, so when I tried to reinstall the laptop I decided to use the other one recovery CD to do that because they are the same... at least I thought they were...

I repartitioned the laptop with fdisk and made the partition active, formatted and then when I boot with the recovery CD, it began, began to dump files, but about 20%, he just say 'impossible recovery' or something "partition is not active" and restart. When I rebooted, it saw that the format of the C partition was gone (he said unformated or damaged partition).

Now, I tried 1 partition, 2 partitions, FAT32 and NTFS, no joy... I think you must have some special configuration of partitions to ensure the success of the recovery, but I don't know how.

I have not tried to reinstall the other laptop with the recovery CD because I'm afraid that it's too bad...
    Can someone help me pls?
    BR
    / Linus

    Hello Linus

Before you begin the recovery procedure, it can't do anything. Simply start the recovery procedure. I don't really know why the recovery procedure stops after 20%, but please do not prepare HARD drive before using the recovery procedure delivered.

If I remember well you have two options before the start of the recovery procedure: standard and expert mode. If you use the standard mode is wiped the entire HARD drive and recovery image will create a partition (the whole HARD disk capacity). Using expert mode you can create a clean partition and later in management of the disks (under WXP) create the second logical partition.

Please try both options. If the recovery CD is not damaged I really don't see any reason why the recovery procedure can be done successfully.

  • Should re-install XP on Satellite A10 - I use the restore CD?

    Hello

I have a laptop series satellite (A10), bought new 2 years ago.

Recently it has been running very slow and after a lot of advice, I decided to reinstall windows.

I can do this with the product recovery cd supplied with my computer? I have the 3 original supplied with the computer disks. If it is possible, how? I read on another post (for another series PC Toshiba laptop) that this is to boot from the cd by pressing c when starting the computer - is it right for the A10?

The process is this difficult? I have an external hard drive to back up files, etc.

    Cheers for any help

    Phil

    Hello

If you really want to reinstall your system, use the recovery CD.
First, you should back up your important data on the external drive.

Then, as you already know, boot from the recovery disk #1 by pressing 'C' at the start of the laptop.
(This sometimes does not work, then you will need to press F12 for the boot menu, or press ESC to enter the BIOS to change the boot priority.)

If the computer starts from the disk (Win98), then simply follow the menus that appear (it's really easy!).
But remember, the whole HARD drive will be formatted.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A10-S177: flashing main indcator

I have a Satellite A10-S177 that won't start. When the plug by hand or the main battery indicator flashes amber color and nothing happens when you press the button.
It seems to be a pace in the 2 flashing flashes, 2 flashes 3 flash remains for a second then 2 blinks then stop for 2 seconds and so on. I checked the power supply and I have 15 volts output.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

    Hi John,.

The sequence of flashing normally indicates a hardware failure in Notepad. Unfortunately, you will need to have the ckecked from the unit by an authorized Service partner to diagnose what exactly is the problem.

  • Recovery CD work not (Satellite A10) - need password for ghost image

    Hello

I have a Satellite A10, which took its CD player died. I need to reimage using the recovery disks that came with it, but I can't because I don't have an external hard drive that is very convenient.

What I can do is copy ghosting from disks of recovery on an external USB drive, boot from that and then run Ghost and picture then the laptop of the ghost image, which I copied from the CD.

Only problem is that the image is locked with a password I do not know. Toshiba is able to provide a password or let me know how to get the required password so I can use the image on my laptop?
    See you soon

    Patrick

    Hello Patrick

To be honest I don't think that you will get this password. That should give you?
In my opinion, you should buy the new optical disk drive and be happy with your laptop.
Satellite A10 is old enough laptop model and sides are not expensive.

Alternatively, you can get one on eBay.

  • Can I create bootable disc for my Satellite A10?

Hello! I run Windows XP (SP1) on my Toshiba Satellite A10/15. I think that there is something wrong with the HARD drive. Manifests problem as very slow system attempts to write something on the hard drive and multiple messages on ' missing config32, lack of attempts to write MFT$, bad clusters ' etc. I'm not too well known, so I'm rather lost in the bunch of info on all the these chkdsk/f, Testdisk, Bart PE, Hiren's BootCD, pressing F12 or F8, primary and logical partitions the user etc. Please help me with some basic things in my head!

    1. I have Toshiba Recovery DVD. I think it gives me a single opportunity: to lose all my files and restore the Virgin system I got when I bought my laptop. If I can make a bootable CD (I have CDRW/DVDR) and boot from it? (I have a urgent translation work for a client cross now and would like to put my extra computer education until I give him the satisfaction.)

2 if I download XP2 or XP3 on Microsoft site I will be able to make my own bootable CD? (My internet connection is slow and it is difficult to download large updates whenever my system is reluctant.)

    3. What is the right path to solve the problem with the bad clusters? Is there a proper sequence for through remedies that I mentioned above? Or should I try all the remedies I mentioned above to my own sweet will (as soon as I read about them)?

    Hello

The A10 is a former, and it is not impossible that your HARD drive starts to malfunction.

    (1) it seems that you have one of the oldest recovery disk that supports the standard recovery procedure and expert recovery procedure. The standard collection format the whole HARD drive and erases all partitions from the disk. Recovery expertise formats only the partition where the operating system will be installed.
So you can use the recovery expertise to reinstall the operating system on the partition.

    > Can I make a bootable CD (I have CDRW/DVDR) and boot from it?
Yes. You can create this disk. For example, Microsoft Windows PE can be useful. Google a bit...

    (2) you can not download the Win XP... you can download the SP2 and SP3, but this service packs are can be used in the framework of pre-installed Win XP OS.

    (3) the /F command chkdks corrects errors on the disk... also deliver the bad clusters...
