Satellite A200-1VM: installed XP on Vista Boot Manager 2 but lost partition

I own a 1VM A200 and I install Win XP SP2.
After doing HARD drive into two partitions. XP is installed in different partision.

I use nLite to add SATA drivers to start the cd. Now XP is fine, but whenever I start, I don't have the possibility to decide what system I want; Vista or XP.
It starts only XP. Vista still exist on the first partition.

What can I do to retrieve this option?

  • Qosmio G35-AV650: how remove Vista Boot Manager and install XP

OK, I got the g35-av650 - US. I don't see any good American forum Toshiba, so I post here.
First of all, I must say I'm getting very frustrated.

1: I upgraded my BIOS to try to install windows vista. Vista installed, however, it works well. It must be driver problems. I deleted the partition that I allocated for Vista. Now, how the hell do I remove the screen/start menu in vista.
I want to get back my XP operating system selection screen.
I think it has to do with the boot record.

2: my bluetooth isn't all work more (don't ask me why...) After that I updated the BIOS to version 1.40 to the newest 3.30.

The recovery CD said I use the CD in the computer wrong? Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS/solve this problem, or bypass it.

Thanks for the responses, because they will be very appreciated.

    Hello

(1.) you want to reinstall XP on the HARD drive or you want to cancel only the vista Boot Manager.
Usually after reinstalling XP, the boot manager should disappear.

But I found these tips step by step in the internet:

-Start your computer in Windows XP.
-Make sure you have the image of Vista DVD emulated or in the DVD drive.
-Go to start and run. Type in e:\boot\bootsect.exe/nt52 ALL/force (without the quotation marks and replace e: with the letter of your Vista DVD).
-Restart the computer, and you notice that the selection of start menu disappeared.
-Format the partition/drive where you installed Vista.
-Remove the two (Boot.BAK and Bootsect.BAK) files on your file of root of drives XP (c), it was backup of your previous boot loader files, now is more useful.
-Optional: Restart to make sure it still works.
-Use your partition software to merge your partitions.

2.), I hope that you have used the BIOS from the page we Toshiba. However, the BIOS update should not has a bad influence on the functionality of BT. Try to download the latest driver for BT and install again.

I recommend the other discussions of the forum on the same topic.
    Found this one for example:

You need to install the Intel Matrix storage manager before proceeding with the installation of XP.
As the user above has already suggested the program called nLite can be useful to integrate the necessary driver for the XP CD.

  • Satellite A200-1CR - black screen and no boot

    Model:
    Toshiba Satellite A200-1CR

    Question:
By pressing the power button to power on the computer for a full boot, the power LED lights up but still black screen (not even of lighting). The logo led 'Satellite' in the lower left corner of the chassis remains off while the HARD drive has made a unique quick snap; DVD activity led (the device) always remains on even without any CD inserted, by pressing the eject button do nothing (status bar is locked) and no sounds of activity.
No logo screen of boot (show stays), not of beeps dark and wide, no DVD or HARD disk activity, keyboard seems does not (all combinations that should light up an led, capslock, numlock, etc, does nothing), the fan works.

I have already (without success) tried:
-Unlock the tray, insert the rescue CD and power on
-Remove the main battery and power on with AC adapter only
-Insert a bootable USB stick/external HARD drive

The computer worked as expected the day before and there has not been any kind of shock. Described is the situation I faced when I turned on the next time (only 24 hours later).

    What could be wrong?
    Thank you.

Well, looks like hardware problem; Maybe the memory problem or something serious with the mother or the CPU. It of really difficult to say what could cause this.
You can try to check the RAM modules.

  • Satellite A200-193 - installing an extra HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite A200-193 and I would like to install one additional go 160 HARD drive into the free location.
The problem is that there is no SATA connector to this place (switch on the motherboard, not more).
I know there are computer A200 laptop with a second HDD and my question is "if I go into an official TOSHIBA Service Center, it is possible to install a SATA connector in this free site, this is to allow the installation of additional HARD drive?

If someone could help me on this point, it would be great.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mathieu

I see that you are a bit confused ;)
As you known t n, there are probably different Satellite A200 series a series helps the second HARD drive upgrade and some A200 series cannot be upgraded
But the A200 series was equipped with the same laptop covers

This means that you will find the second drive HARD on all mobile A200 Bay but the drive HARD (SATA) connectors don t exist on each series.
It seems that your laptop cannot be upgraded with the second HARD disk because of the second missing HARD drive interface.

I hope I can clarify this confusing question ;)

  • Satellite A200 - 1 H 2 with Vista does not work after restoring

    How-dee!

    I have a laptop Satellite A200 - 1 H 2 with a Windows Vista Home System.
Computer was never connected with the Internet and I use it only for the doc write, play music and watch movies. It worked fine up until yesterday.

After turning on, there was a massage "c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" corrupt (spleen? Sorry, I don't remember).

So, I used the product Toshiba Recovery DVD and after reinstalling system reboot. And now I have a "Startup Repair" massage, which is:
"Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" and below:
"If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and then restart the computer. If you continue to see this massage, contact... blah, blah, blah. .... Click Finish to exit and turn off your computer.

It's weird cos I have no device connected to my computer and it was during my recovery system.

After pressing on "discovers the diagnostic and repair details" another pop-up window shows and he says, that all test "completed successfully" (the last is "Control of State Setup") and who
    "Root cause found.
    --------------------------
Failure so that the Setup program is underway"

What should I do now? I don't have any bootable Windows Vista DVD.

    Please heeeeelp!

PS. Sorry for my poor English :)

That s odd and I assume that the laptop would be correctly after reinstalling the Toshiba Recovery disk
However, maybe that something was wrong during the first attempt

Try using the recovery again disk and try reinstalling this cell second time

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and I doubt, in everest, I can see the key of Windows Vista, but it's different to the Windows key in the tile to the bottom of the laptop.

    Why this different key?

I agree with the user above.
The serial key you will find at the bottom of the device is not similar to the serial key that can be read using a few 3rd party applications!

But you don t need such series on your Toshiba laptop key.
The restore CD contains an image of Toshiba which is already activated!

  • Satellite A200 - after installing XP I don't have internet connection

I installed XP on my satellite A200 and internet does not work. I changed BIOS, installed all the drivers available and I have a problem.

Although it shows me the WiFi networks that are ready to go. When I try to access it is not. When I connect my ethernet cable from my router it says its connected well but there is no transfer or no internet connection.
Everything seems to be ok, but I can't step on line...

    Can someone help me?
    Please...

    Hello!

After installation of XP have also installed drivers? In particular the Ethernet and WLAN card driver driver. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

In addition, you should check for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager.

Also make sure your router has an internet connection. You can check in the router configuration.

Last but not least to check the card WLAN and LAN TCP/IP settings. If your router is using DHCP, you must activate or try static ip addresses.

  • Satellite A200 - 18 m take the Vista 64-bit?

    Hello

does anyone know if my A200 - 18 m will have 64 bit vista... Thought get 4 GB of ram, but want all reconised. Help?

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/productPage.do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=132400

You should be able to install the Windows Vista 64-bit on this laptop.
    But there is another problem.

Is that Toshiba does not support drivers 64 bit Vista at the moment and that is why you won't find any Toshiba 64-bit drivers for your system.

In this case, you will need to use the drivers from sites of single chip s manufacturer.

  • Can satellite A200-1N7 - I remove Intel Matrix Storage Manager?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200 - 1N7 PSAE3E with the installation of Windows Vista 32 factory. I bought the laptop with * Intel Matrix Storage Manager * already installed. Recently, I noticed that Matrix Storage Manager requires little significant memory. I do not use any, either, I have several disks to use. I want to remove only keep the Intel AHCI drivers.

Matrix Storage Manager there some features in Windows Vista somehow while I don't use it at all? Is it safe to delete?

    Thank you & best regards
    Sean

    Hello

I totally agree with the above user. The Storage Manager provides AHCI drivers and shouldn't t be deleted. It of necessary on never cell phone that works on the AHCI mode.
You can try to stop the service, as Al - eX has suggested, but I think that this will cause a BSOD.

I think it would be a better option if you remove other programs you n t need (software test e. g.). Also used CCleaner to clean the registry and defragment the HARD disk in order to speed up.

  • Satellite Pro U400 VISTA disk management has 6 primary partitions

    Hi all!

I have a strange effect on my Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro U400 (but it seems not to be specific to this one that I saw the same symptoms elsewhere, at the same time):

I had the laptop with a 320 GB drive with recovery-(invisible / "Configuration EISA", 1,46 Go) system (C:, ~ 150 GB) and data (E:, ~ 150 GB) volumes. It's the usual structure of Toshiba,

    pre-installed OS was Vista professional.

As I plan to install Linux in addition, I have done as a result of preparations:

    Recovery disc Vista created 1.).
2.) C: shrunk to ~ 100 GB using Vista disk management tool.
3.) E: shrunk to Go ~ 98 using Vista disk management tool.
It is suggested that 4.) E: directly behind C: using Parted Magic CD.

Finally I got a 97 GB of free space at the end of the disc, and everything worked well away. Creating an additional on the free area, Vista disk management, resulted in an extended partition created by Vista. This extended partition contained the extra volume as well as the free space remaining behind.

To prepare for installing Linux, I've finally created three logical Volumes inside the extended partition with Vista disk management tool.
After that, I had the following structure of the partition on the disk (indicated by the Vista Disk Manager):

    invisible 1.46 GB, primary
C:, ~ 100 GB NTFS, primary, active, System
    E:, ~ 98 GB NTFS, primary, data

~ 97 GB extended partition, containing:
2 GB unformatted (planned for Linux swap)
20 GB unformatted (planned for Linux root "/")
21 GB unformatted (planned for Linux "/ home")
    Empty remaining 54 GB space

    More on Vista worked properly!

Recently, I installed OpenSuse 11.1 using the volumes placed within extended partitions (user-specific configuration). The Installation worked correctly. Logical volumes have been formatted to

2 GB of swap (swap Linux, / dev/sda5)
    20 GB ext3 (Linux root ' / ' on/dev/sda6)
    21 GB unformatted (Linux "/ home" on/dev/sda6)

during the installation of Linux. Linux and Vista up and running with their scores. If I look at the hard drive with Linux' partitioning tool, I see three main partitions + range, as expected. The scope contains the Linux partitions + empty disk space.

    HOWEVER:
    ========

If I look at the hard drive with the Vista disk management tool now, I get the following image:

    invisible 1.46 GB, primary
C:, ~ 100 GB NTFS, primary, active, System
    E:, ~ 98 GB NTFS, primary, data
2 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
20 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
21 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
    Empty remaining 54 GB space

    This means:
VISTA DISK MANAGMENT ME PRESENT 6 PRIMARY PARTITIONS WITHOUT ANY COMPLAIN
Although a hard drive on the PC architecture usually only supports maximum 4 primary partitions.

    Issues related to the:

Have you ever seen a similar behavior?

Is this a bug of presentation in the Vista disk management tool?

Or is it a bug in formatting under Linux?

Is there a solution for this problem?

At present, the two BONES work very well. However, the disk will be get permanently damaged as soon as I try to create more partitions in the empty space left?

Sincere greetings and thanks for your comments.

    Girard

    > Have you ever see similar behavior?
    NO.

    > Is this a bug of presentation in the Vista disk management tool?
I doubt that it is a bug, I think you forgot something.

As far as I know you can create 4 partitions on the HARD drive and this is the reason why you have the ability to create an extended partition.
An extended partition can be divided into several logical drives.

That is why it s wise to create a primary partition for Windows OS for example and an extended partition, which can decompose the in logical drives (partitions) different.

However, I put t see a problem if everything works properly
