  I just bought a U300-13U. It works fine when charging the battery and AC is connected. However, if left to recharge completely it does not start with connected AC. Unpluging the power or remove the battery and running on AC make it work very well. Is a 'feature' to stop an overload or overheating of the battery, or just a problem with this machine. I want to run with AC and battery than both connected all the time like I did with all my other laptops.

  Of my friends has this small U300 and everything works well. I got it a few weeks ago to test the family Windows XP Setup and it works perfectly.

  Please test again very carefully and if the same thing happen again once I recommend you contact the Service partner in your country. They check your laptop. I have to be honest and say that describes the problem of strange sounds to me and please, don't wait too long. Contact the service as soon as possible.

  I know it's a long shot, but here's the situation!
  I had a Toshiba Satellite A60 PSA60E for repair.

  He had the power plug inserted into the back of the case of the break taking, damaging U4 and hit 3 resistors.

  I have now replaced the socket, transplanted the resitors counsel doner and welded in a new IC (U4).

  Now when I turn on I get the LED illuminating as expected (Inc. that blue on the power button) but nothing on the screen, no fan, no disk buzzing etc away.

  Ideally, I would like to try subing cpu etc but don't have any alternative to play with.

  If any ideas whatelse could be wrong on that?

  Not sure I want to risk the cost of a new motherboard (that they is availible) or that it would be interesting to the replacement of the machine.

  Unfortunately, I n t think that someone here in the forum will give you a precise answer and provide the solution it seems that it s a motherboard problem.
  As you know that the computer motherboards are complex parts with many electronic details.
  It of impossible to say what could be the problem on the Board without any detailed controls.

  To my knowledge, card repair mother is not so easy and expensive so you should not pay for the repairs, but buy a new Board of Directors which is covered by the warranty or second hand board which is much cheaper

  my name is Phil, my Toshoba Satellitw A200 will not start. I just get a black screen, I tried starting with a/c unit only, with & without a/c power. I tried several times without success.
  I am running Vista Home Premium & have all the obvious anti-virus/malware proection.
  Can someone please help. I was told that the hard drive may need re-allocation of places, how do you do that?

  If I understand you right, you can start your laptop but the screen remains black. Can you confirm this?

  I have an A500 on 12 months old that will not start.

  The battery light shows white and power on AC light is on as well.
  When button "power on" is pressed and released the laptop IT flashes briefly then the battery lights up orange briefly and the light goes out.

  Battery has been divested of the case and it was completely discharged and it still will not with or without the battery. He has been connected to a different power of toshiba with the same results.

  I think that it s something wrong with the motherboard or a part of the motherboard.
  The point is this laptop should turns on even if the battery is empty and the power adapter is plugged so maybe it s something wrong with the memory supply or electronic power on the motherboard.

  I recommend you check the parts of memory first. Remove a module and try to start the device using that one module.

  Of course this can not help you too... so in this case, it could be a severe motherboard issue...

  I have a portable Satellite A40 2 days ago decided to turns off while I was on the internet, and now it does not restart. I tried removing the battery and leave overnight, but it still will not start. When give you it power outlet, the AC LED is green and if you press the button power turns on the green power light, but that's all, the HARD drive light does not illuminate, the fan does not come on, no sound from the HARD drive and nothing on the screen, not even the backlight.   Have you tried to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if pictures or anything else appears on the second monitor?

  Your description sounds like the malfunctioning of the internal display, but it is only a suggestion and a few trials are required to obtain a diagnosis right.

  It's strange, but in your case I would try to format the HARD drive before using the recovery disk.
  There, you can use the Microsoft Windows XP disk or another tool that allows you to format the HARD drive.

  If you have formatted the drive HARD try again with the Toshiba recovery disc.
