Satellite A30 recovery stops after 15%

Hello
I have laptop satellite A30. When I tried to do a restore with the Toshiba Recovery CD, it started to format my hard drive I think. But when the progress bar reaches 15%, my computer shuts down. No mater how many times I ve tried I did the same thing. Now I'm stuck and can even get into Windows.
Can someone help?

Thank you!

Hi Takis,

The most likely cause of this behaviour is a bad hard drive. When the recovery process reached the defective area of the platters in the car he try again several times but then close the laptop.

If you have access to all utility disk (such as Norton Disk Doctor) you could try a scan of your hard disk surface to check bad sectors.

Kind regards

My satellite A30 213 stops almost everytime, when I enter a website with a lot of uploadings. The machine rotates in about a minute or two and closed its doors. I know that my RAM is only 256 KB. Is that why and in this case, what can I do about it?

    Best regards
    Janne

    Hello

It is not easy to give a correct answer, but the fact is that 256 MB of RAM for using Windows XP Home edition is really not much. I do not know what A30 you have exactly, but some of them can be upgraded up to 2 GB of RAM.

RAM modules are not more expensive and I recommend you to upgrade to 1 GB minimum. After this the laptop will have a lot more resources and will go much faster.

This can be caused by an overheating problem!

How old is your laptop and you clean the cooling fans in the past?
If this isn't the case, I recommend you this doing.

To clean the fans, you can use the jet of compressed air that can be bought in most computer stores.
The problem is that dust and debris inside of the laptop prevents cooling modules works properly, and so the temperature increases to a higher level. This leads to the farm automatically from the bottom.

In my opinion, fans of cleaning might help with this problem.

  • Satellite A30: HDD size after the recovery procedure and Defrag

I have a Satellite A30 and just did a complete reinstall from the recovery of the product disks. My question relates to the amount of disk space hard should be resumed aftre reinstall it.
My hard drive is 4.95 full GB according to the procedure that is much higher than I expected.

Also, after reviewing the reader with Defragmenter I seem to have twice taken up training with Greens, unmovable files like Blue contiguous files. Unmovable files is there and if not how to I remove them?

It's where I guess that extra hard disk space is lost when it is lost?

    Thank you

    Hello

It's not easy to say exactly how much space should be taken after the recovery procedure.
I have so much that I know on the recovery CD, you will find the whole operating system Windows XP, driver Toshiba and utilities as well as additional software like OneNote, WinDVD, etc.
This additional software could take as much space on the disk outside the OS.

Blue not moveable files belong to the Windows operating system, and as a result, the files are placed together.

  • Satellite A30 always stop without notice

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with my laptop Satellite A30. It will always stop without notice. But the thing is that I n it's a problem of heating with the fans. The laptop turns off only to if im under the laptop to maximum power or full power from the AC adapter. Tasks that can be taxed as a full system virus scan or play games will be stopped after about 20 minutes more than the setting of high battery power or if its connection to the network and is set to full power. Using word or simple tasks are not.

Now im thinking there may be a problem with my cpu it can not handle when it needs to perform tasks advanced on my laptop. What could be the problem? Low power my laptop works very well even when executing these advances of the tasks it is only a problem when its power on full or high.

    Any help or advice?

    Hello

Thanks for the description I always think of it s an overheating problem.
Current laptop saver control different modes of consumption if the laptop works with the AC adapter or with full power, the energy saver uses different power mode when the laptop will run only to batteries.

Different consumption patterns are supported various parameters of the processor and the different method of cooling.
Probably the CPU works with a hot and maximum performance when the power adapter is connected.

I think you should check the cooling modules and fans. Try cleaning carefully with the vacuum cleaner. But if you have no experience with these procedures, then request a technician or a person with more experience

Perhaps, the Bios is damaged and need to be reflashed

The hard drive can be a troublemaker. To be honest, it is not easy to say what is really happening through this forum. It can turned off because of overheating, clean the tower with air jet

Could it be clogged with dust inside (it is 5 years old)? If yes how I clean. I don't think it's a fan failure because I can hear the fan cut in. Advice much appreciated. Thank you.

I agree with you and the user SambadeAmigo. It seems like a simple problem of overheating and so the laptop automatically stops to prevent the equipment from damage

I assume that your laptop can be enabled again after being allowed to cool. It is a common question if the cooling modules may not work properly because of the dust and debris.
As suggested, it would be possible to remove dust using the can of compressed air.
    It should work.

    Hello

I think overheating is the problem. First of all, you can try is to clean the machine properly. I guess the CPU and graphics card works very intensive and produce a lot of heat. If the equipment cannot be cooled properly the laptop stops suddenly.

    Clean it up.

  • Equium A110-238 - product recovery stops after 1 disc

On my Toshiba laptop satellite A110-238, purchased 2006, HARD drive lasted until last week, when it crashed. After replacing the HARD drive with a 160 GB drive (original was 40 GB) I started using the recovery disks get up my system. I've used records (a few years ago) for recovery.

I've turned off, insert the first disc, power (the CD/DVD was the first in boot-seq) and the VIRTUAL disk has been created. I chose my language and selected a primary partition of 40 GB, and the first disc starts to unzip the files. A message came when the disc had unpacked to 100%, to inform him of the number of files and directories that were unpacked - and asked me to remove the disk - and then press OK.

I removed the disc the disc following and you press OK. -Nothing happened for the next hour. I then repeated the sequence, but without inserting the disc number 2 - same result.

    Did I miss something?

    Douglas

    Hey Buddy,

Theoretically this could be caused by new HARD drive because you wrote that you used the recovery disks earlier and it worked
Maybe the new HARD drive for bad sectors who knows?

In your case I recommend that you test another HARD drive (old) or test the Windows installation using a disc of Microsoft.

  • Satellite L45 recovery stops at 17% - ERROR: 10-FC12 - 045D - error recovery

Well, the other day my L45 frozen, so I restarted it-to find that was missing a file of the operating system.

So, I tried the system restore, and it ran until the end where he said he had a problem and closed.
Then I tried the recovery disks. He ran everything from disc 1 to disc 2, began to restore, and then stopped at 17% restored.
I tried the disks several times again and again, it stops at 17% and gives me "ERROR: 10-FC12 - 045D"-"error recovery".

I looked everywhere for this error is specific to, but got no results.

Really, I don't think you can find explanations for this mistake because Toshiba use software RECO for the installation of the OS. My experience says that, in this case, there are two possibilities: either is defective recovery CD/DVD or HARD drive do some problems.

I recommend getting the facilities original Microsoft CD and try to install clean Windows if the facilities procedure finishes successfully. If maybe it is really defective HARD drive and after 17% there is a bad sector.

Check it out. In any case I recommend you contact the service provider authorized in your country. They can say with certainty what the problem is here.

  • Satellite P100-429, stopped after you create the partition on the HARD disk

After you create the partition on the HARD disk. PC just stopped.
After using the restore CD, nothing happened again, any ideas?

    Hello

Express media player has been installed on the partition of the laptop?
I can give you a good solution for 100%, but there may be a conflict between the express media player partition and the new partition.
Have you installed the OS on the new partition?

Hey Buddy, try to delete the entire partitions in the HARD drive and format the HARD drive completely. Then try to use it again the Toshiba Recovery CD and install Toshiba image on the HARD drive.

  • Satellite A100-914 - stop after 10 minutes on

    Satellite A100-914 - Vista Home 32-bit edition

In my screen displays the blue screen saying on: driver_power_state_failure...

I've updated to Vista, a patch which should solve this problem, but the problem of still images.

I have also updated the Bios of Toshiba, and then I get a Warner 0251 checksum bad - default configuration used.

I also have problems with superfetch and search for host when I connect to the internet... but it is perhaps another question...

    Hello

    What to say...

    Regarding the automatically close downs;
For me, it looks a bit like overheating. Maybe you should check if the temperature is not too high and check if the cooling modules are working properly and it can cool the laptop properly. Sometimes the dust inside the laptop could have a bad influence on cooling.

Regarding the system BIOS checksum bad - default configuration used:
Try to access the BIOS and set the default BIOS settings. Then save the changes and restart the laptop.

    Regarding the MS patch:
I found this Microsoft Knowledgebase document:
The STOP Error Messages troubleshooting 0x0000009F DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/246243

It is said that this problem occurs when drivers do not properly handle power state transition requests.
The error message most often occurs during one of the following actions:
    -Closing
-Suspension or out of standby mode
    -Suspension or out of hibernation

Check solution proposals in the document of Microsoft.
If this does not help, I guess it's a hardware problem and you will need to contact the ASP in your country.

    Good luck
