Satellite A300 (PSAGCA-02Y010) - is extremely slow

A300 purchased with Vista which has been so slow.

I even turned off loads of features try to make it a bit faster but still slow, so I loaded XP and still sound yet to slow takes forever (5 minutes), at least to start. Right click takes forever copy that is so slow, it blocks to make things easier.

My old laptop that I bought in 1999 is faster than my new laptop dual processor 2 k of RAM 4 GB, which gives and what could be the problem.

I have updated software drivers ect as the CD/DVD is broken has anyone else had these problems and you would know how to sort?

Help please

Hello!

It's not easy to say what the reason, that's why your laptop is so slow, but you have the same problem with the factory settings?
I mean the preinstalled version of Windows Vista with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba. So take the Toshiba recovery disc and try it. You can post your result.

Two years ago, I had a similar problem. My new laptop has been extremely slow and the reason of this problem was the HARD drive. He had bad sectors and so he made do to the computer very slow. After exchanging the drive HARD everything worked well.
You can check the disk with Drive Fitness Test. use Google to find this test and it s freeware.

  • Satellite A300 PSAGCA - 02Y010 - error: driver Webcam open failed

    Problem:
Receive error whenever I try to use the camera for Toshiba support software: Webcam driver open failed. Restart the computer or the camera. Webcam does not work in Skype. It seems that it is a very common problem with the A300s series, but there is no clear solution there.

    Material
    Series: A300
    Model: PSAGCA-02Y010

    Software
Operating system: Windows 7 64 bit
Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba: 1.7.175.0123

    Details
I recently did a clean install of Windows 7, Windows Vista update. I've never used the web cam on Windows Vista, so I can't testify as to whether or not the web camera is workin properly. However, when I tried to use it with Skype, it did not work. I reinstalled the driver that I backed up before I installed the new operating system, but it did not work. The web cam does not appear at all in Device Manager - even when the value for show hidden devices. Trying new material added through the control panel fails to detect the webcam at all. I rebooted after each installation/repair of the driver.

    Measures taken

    Reinstalled drivers saved
I used the third-party software (Double Driver) to back up and reinstall the drivers for the webcam after I installed Windows 7. Double Driver claimed there was no device to install the driver. Manually, I copied the files in the folder using the camera and replaced existing ones. The files I copied were:
    casflr.cat
    oem34.inf
    Restore.ini
    UVCFTR_S.SYS

Pilots relocated from site Web from Toshiba
Vast Goolging turned only recommendations to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I was unable to find the drivers for windows 7 64 bit, but I tried for my laptop model for Windows Vista 64 - bit - no luck. I tried to install software camera for Toshiba support, as far as I know, including the driver - it gives me the error described above.

I also tried to find a universal Windows 7 driver for the webcam - I was unable to find one.

Check the registry value is Correct
I tried also checked the registry value to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/ControlSet001/Enum/USB/SN001/ClassUID corresponds to the value in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\driver\64bit\casflr.inf as and C:\Program Files (x 86) \Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\driver\32bit\casflr.inf recommended by some article is recommended.

Please, I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. I've exhausted all the options I can think.

    Probable solution:
I met a thread post who suggested a loose wire was responsible and that the camera could work when the cover is almost closed. I tried this and the camera suddenly appeared in the Device Manager. However, I still can't make it work with Camera Assistant Software or Skype.

Does this mean that webcam does not appear in Device Manager if the cover is open right?
In this case, it seems that there is no link between the webcam and the motherboard.
As far as I know as the internal cam is connected to the controller card USB mother s and possibly there is a bad connection.

Possible solution: I think that the technician needs to disassemble the laptop to check the connection :(

  • Can I use European 2.1 BIOS update for Satellite A300 PSAGCA?

    Hello

    My toshiba's Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02Y010, bought in September 2008.
I want BIOS update latest version 2.10 for windows 7, but in the Web of Toshiba-NZ site, I can only find the version 1.9, I find 2.10 for A300 Toshiba Europe, but Europe models are all different from NZ.

My question is: could I use this BIOS 2.10 europe in my toshiba A300 nz? Thank you.

    Hello

I would not recommend using a BIOS that is not released for your laptop model.
There are a lot of different series for laptop on the market.

You must use the BIOS that is designed exactly for the portable model!
As you know, the BIOS update is a reasonable process and can damage the ROM chip using BIOS wrong!

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA: how to install Win XP as 2nd OS

Hey any reader for the first time and shows for the first time.
My comp is the Satellite A300 PSAGCA-02U010

You 2 questions, hopefully someone can help me with.

The issue of the first: like many people, I hate Vista.
How can I run XP as a second OS that don't live my warranty?

    2. the volume level is not very strong (sound) when you watch a DVD etc. I tried different settings, and every time I do I have to restart to take effect, which is a pain that vista is slow to restart. I have downloaded the driver, but noticed that it is exactly the same as what is installed already :(

    See you soon

    > How can I use as a second OS XP who don't live my warranty?
Installing programs or operating system would not avoid the warranty!
You can install the Win XP as second OS without fear.

But before install you anything, I would recommend the Toshiba recovery disc creation!

    With regard to the sound:
As far as I know the parameters which are changes in the player are not not in trouble. You must increase the volume of every time when you start the software again.
But have you tested different actors? For example, VLC player is a simple and free tools.
    I recommend to test

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA-03C010 - downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello

I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered :)

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 (model PSAGCA-03C010) in October 08. It came with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista Home Premium.

Initially, using Vista was not too bad, but it happened at a point now where his things slows down and is really frustrating. Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.

First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?

Also, I am concerned about the Wi - fi, bluetooth, finger scan and HDMI applications - will this work with XP?

Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?

Thanks in advance and again once, apologies if these qns have already answered in other posts (im not too technical).

    Tamara

    > I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered
In many cases, these questions have been answered already and you might find useful views by using the Advanced ;) search option

    > Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.
Tools and Vista drivers are not compatible with Win XP. If you want to install Win XP and want to use all the features of the laptop you must make sure that the Win XP drivers are available for this model of laptop.

Satellite A300 PSAGCA seems to be an Australian model. The drivers are placed here:
    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au

I checked this and found a few tools and drivers for this device.

    > First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?
No, you can not use it because it belongs to the Vista operating system preinstalled on your laptop.

    > Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?
Yes, the recovery disk allows to reverse the laptop back to factory settings.
You will get the same as on the first day of purchase

The computer worked fine with Vista but since put Win 7 Ultimate here he sometimes gets the blue screen.
It was a clean place do not install an upgrade

He can go for a week without a problem, and then I'll have 5 blue screens in one day.

    > I am running on the assumption that A = Australia & E = Europe.
    > Can anyone clarify this for me.

You are right that the last digit or the letter designates the region. Then E means Europe and Australian way.

It s an Australian series for Toshiba laptop and, therefore, you need to download the drivers from Toshiba Australian page

The BSOD may be a result of not fully compatible drivers

  • Impossible to install Vista on Satellite A300 PSAGCE - not ACPI compliant

    Hello

I'm recovering the laptop from a friend.
He has installed Windows XP on its Satellite A300 PSAGCE and concluded that of course XP 32-bit Windows does not support the full functionality of the laptop.

Now I wanted to reinstall Vista that came with it. I have two recovery DVD but when I wanted to start them (them two DVDs) I always get the error message that the system is not fully ACPI-compatible.

Now of course this laptop should work with Vista and the provided restore DVD should work as well, no?
I tried to download a Bios nw, but it seems 1.10 is the most recent.

I also can't find all the ACPI settings in the BIOS that I could activate.

    Could someone help me?
It is really urgent and driving me crazy!

    Thank you!

    Hello

Strange! Usually, if you have created the DVD recovery Toshiba using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator then everything should work correctly and you should be able to install Vista on this A300!

I put t know if you have changed something in the BIOS or elsewhere, but you should access the BIOS and should define the default settings.
Then try to boot from the recovery DVD Toshiba again.

    Good luck

  • Win7 drivers for Satellite A300 PSAGCE

Toshiba will support win7 for Satellite A300 PSAGCE?
If so it will be soon? There is no driver for this model how is it?

Satellite A300 will be definitely supported, but no one knows for sure when the Win7 drivers for some this model will be available.
Every day there are more pilots. From time to time check the support page. I think that these days, pilots should be there.

The common Module software is required and must be installed first.
In my case it worked properly on another laptop from Toshiba!

PS: There is a BIOS specially for Win XP
Should use it if you are running Win XP
