Satellite A300D - not stop overheating

Hi all

I'm new on the forum, but unfortunately not new to toshiba disorders.

I have a satellite A300D - 14 D PSAK8E for 3 years.
I had to take a time for a warranty repair (after 6 months) to change the motherboard. Since then, only the usual problems of overheating and batteries that do not live long.

My brother bought the exact same model, in the same bank, at the same time, and he had to order a new charger. I notice that my laptop starts to spin like crazy fans, as soon as I start it.

This means that, when it is totally cool!
His computer portable twin isn't moaning as mine does.

I did all the stuff. I opened and cleaned, I bought a block of cooling, I empty regularly.
I keep clean on software, just the basics, my antivirus is the avast, cannot play most of the games and keep my personal files on an external HD.

These days, 6 months, my shutsdown of toshiba when executing two simple tasks simultaneously (like open a doc office and chrome). Not always, but most of the time.

At first I thought it was overheating, because as stars fans spinning, but the laptop is pretty cool.

What operating system? It came with Vista, but I changed it to Windows 7.

Any information would be welcome.
Thank you!

Hello

In the past I ve changed several models of Toshiba and two of them were models D (AMD) and I have to say that exactly on these models of cooling fan was always a little stronger and fan worked more often. Now, I have A300 with preinstalled Win7 32 bit and it works perfectly. A30/A300D are fully supported for Win7 so the described behavior has nothing to do with the preinstalled OS.
> I noticed that my laptop starts to spin like crazy fans, as soon as I start it. This means that, when it is totally cool!
That s nothing unusual and that occur on most laptops including my P500. Computer startup laptop accelerated cooling fan works at maximum and when Toshiba welcome screen is displayed, it slows down. That of normal and don t worry not about this.

To be honest, it is not easy to say why your laptop stops. Make sure that the laptop is placed on the desk and the cooling fan is not blocked. Clear also all unnecessary background processes to keep the pressure on the CPU.

Sorry, but I cannot say more than that.

    Hello world

I am using Toshiba Satellite A300D-214 and I have serious delay problems. I can't play a game properly. I said that I have these questions for the technical department, but they said it's because of the dust.

After 2 hours of cleaning, I encounter the same problems, but they said I have to pay 50 lire (which is almost ~ $ 25) to check if there is a problem in my computer, even if I have the warranty, and if it's graphics card, I have to buy a new graphics card as the warranty has expired.

What can I do to fix this?

    Hello

Which driver of video card you are using?
Toshiba GPU driver should be used because this driver supports the thermal protection that protects the GPU from damage.
Use of other drivers can lead to higher heat dissipation and a higher temperature.

  • Satellite A300D and possible overheating

OK, so I have this A300D for 4 years. Recently, I have this problem when it stops after a few minutes.
Not enough for execution of diagnostic tests or anything like that. If it is started under Windows secure start frezees with a blurred image. If I stop him to run windows it simlpy stops.

A year ago, I tried to change my Vista to 7 and have a similar effect. He stopped after a while. It's surely overhaeting, so I switched to Vista and everything was ok!

Someone told me there is a GPU problem, because it is overheating. Do you know if this is true? I can change it or it is integrated to the motherboard?

    Thank you!

As you wrote laptop is 4 years old and it is possible that the notebook is full of dust that blocks air cold and cooling grill so the first step should be to cleaning. In my view it should be done on the professional way which means that the laptop must be disassembled.
Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Ask how much you should pay for it.

After cleaning laptop s of material can be cooled correctly and everything should be ok again.

In my opinion, this should be the first step you need to do.

  • Satellite A300D-14R still overheating

    Hello

My toshiba A300D - 14R is always overheated way.
The temperature is 90 degrees Celsius, no load.
When loading it is 101-105 degrees celsius. On an even heavier load (like video editing) it just stops.

What should I do to stop this?

  • Satellite A300D-13Y - extreme overheating issues?

    Hello world

    I have a Toshiba A300D Y13 Satellity system since mid-2008.
This is the AMD platform with the graphics card of Turion 64 X 2 TL - 60 & ATI Radeon HD 3650. Recently, he began to fade. First the system began to slown down extremely after awhile which was in early 2010. And now the system begins to shut down within 2 minutes then in the game (same counter strike 1.6 it kills).

I started to wonder what was going on so I installed GPU. Z and Core Temp on my system and I saw that the CPU would run on 62 ° C in "idle" mode and the graphics card at 60 ° C. While in game Core temp would climb to more than 78 ° C and 75 ° C graphics card. So I decided to clean up the dust system, as it has been described in this forum. To my surprise he wasn't still so much dust in there it was almost nothing. But nevertheless the base temperature is now the graphics card to 46 ° C and 43 ° C in idle. But always as soon as I start a game or even flash the base temperature program and the graphics card temp totalled more than 78 ° C and the laptop continues to close immediately. Since it was still overheating, I thought that maybe the system is too low (because it sucks air from the bottom and there are less than 1 cm of space between the desktop and the laptop). I joined to 4 small foam pit with some adhesive tape to it to increase it a little.

Well idle temp of the kernel sunk to 41 ° C and 42 ° C for the graphics card. He now runs a little longer in games or so flash watchig, but it still turns off because it is still overheating. I wonder if anyone knows what the problem could be that the system is still overheating.

    Thanks in advance

  • Problems with the installation of recovery - Satellite A300D - BSOD

    Hello

The laptop in question (TOSHIBA Satellite A300D) recently stopped starting (BSoD).

So, I tried using the recovery disk, but there is no help. What happens is:
-After about 10 minutes of waiting, the first language menu load, so I click on "next".
    - Then I again click Next and accept the message that my HARD drive will be erased
    - Then I see a cmd prompt that says "try to remove all the letters of partitions possible...". »
-There is also a minimized command prompt that says something like "RAID failed to initialize."
    -And then nothing happens.

Is this a hardware problem? I also tried a full installation (instead of recovery), which, even once, is simply not. None of the errors is - it just freezes.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.

It is not easy to tell what can be the problem, but if you were not able to install the OS by using two different facilities CDs/DVDs, so there must be a problem with the HARD drive.

    The warranty is still valid?
I mean you can contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and explain the situation. They can swap the HDD and again test the recovery procedure.
Can you get somewhere 2,5 SATA HDD for testing?

  • Satellite A300D - is overheating and can not play games

    Hello
I'm quite desperate. My Satellite A300D is overheating. I can not play new games. Temperature hit 94 degrees and laptop is restarted. I cleaned it several times, very precisely and nothing. So I decided to send it to the official service of Toshiba. After that, the phone is still the same.

My only hope is buy cooling grease and cooling stock-base. But before that ideas, advice?

    Thanks for everything...

    Hello

I can understand you mate, but have you contacted Toshiba service center again? You should speak with the technicians and explain the situation. I put t know what they did, do you know that?

Cleaning of the laptop is still a good idea but if it doesn't work maybe the thermal compound must be renewed. So ask a technician for help laptop.

By the way: what OS are you using? You can use the same problem with the factory settings and preinstalled display driver?

  • Satellite A300D - overheating issue and it stops itself

    Hello

    Computer: Satellite A300D (PSAHCE)

Bought my A300D two months ago. It was pre-installed with Vista, which, unfortunately, after a while, became so slow, that it was impossible to get anything done. So I decided to install Windows 7, the other day and it worked like a charm. Except for the fan stops after about 1-2 hours of work. Even if the temperature exceeds 60-70 ° C. The computer stops at about 80 c.

I do not understand why the fan stops working.

So far, I have tried the following: I tried to clean the fan with compressed air.

I read this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46796&tstart=0 on an update of the BIOS, but the one I found, dated February 09 is the same version I already have. Are there any new?

I read this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46117&tstart=105 that connects this http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm guide where there is something called Toshiba Power Saver Settings. I searched for her to Toshibas support center, but it can not be found for my model.

I tried using Speedfan freeware without results. I work as a developer, and I only have my netbeans IDE and Spotify ongoing enforcement, even if the computer gets hot after about 1.5 to 2 hours of work because the fan stops.

Anyone have any idea on how I can solve this or something else I can try?

I forgot, I also put the cooling system active strategy.

    Hello

If I understand you correctly, this happens only on Windows 7. Is this good?

If so, you should go back to Vista or let's say the factory settings. I assume you are using Windows 7 beta or Release Candidate, and this isn't an official version of Windows. In addition Windows 7 isn't on the market and there is therefore no support of official rider for the time.
Maybe Windows 7 peut t control the fan settings correctly.

But this problem could be caused due to a third-party display driver. Then you should try the display driver for Vista on the Toshiba site, maybe it helps

  • Satellite A300D - overheating and shutdown

    Hello

I have a problem with my 3 month old Toshiba Satellite A300D-126. Any time I play a game like Call of Duty 4 or Warcraft after like 15-20 min, the left side of the laptop where the cooler is placed, it is overheating, almost too hot to the touch, and finally the laptop stops.

I have to mention the fact that, recently, I installed XP (all the drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site), but I somewhat had the same problems on Vista also.

I downloaded MobileMeter, and temperatures have shown here I think that they are not normal:
Temp - HDD-35-36 degrees C and 80-85 C (when I m only not with the games, so I think that during the Games time. significantly increase)

Is it possible that the cooler can deal with games, and it is dusty? If so, how do I to clean?

    Allows any kind of response,

    Thank you

    Hello

I play call of Duty 4 on Satellite A300-1LI and so far everything is fine. Okay that's the different hardware platform, but I still believe that there should be no difference.

I think CPU temperature is perhaps greater than usual but, in my opinion, not the critical level. The normal temperature of the hard drive and the same as on my Satellite A300.
I don't know how you use your laptop, but it is the new model of laptop and I don't think that there is so much dust inside. If the laptop is placed on the desk, try putting back on two CD boxes and place it on the top position. Reduce graphics settings in the game and check again.

Is the method of cooling energy savings of Toshiba to the maximum level?

  • Re: Satellite A300D-13 has: problems starting - starts not or only black screen

Hello, I have a Satellite A300D-13 has and the problem is, when I try to start the laptop for most, he tries to boot from the hard drive or the DVD drive but then he just stops and starts again immediately to do the same. In this case 4 or 5 times. Once it seems that it starts well, but the only thing I see is a black screen. And the keyboard does not work either.

If I try several time with closing by pressing the power button (you know who I mean), I managed it starts normally (but such a situation is always annoying). Moreover, it seems that this happens only when I did use the laptop for a while. So maybe it has something to do with the temperature. But more or less 20 ° C in my room.

In the Bios I have change the boot order of the sources (I can't change it much more)

I am grateful for any kind of help.
Thank you for your cooments in advance

    Hello

The issue could be related to software, but also for the hardware problem.
But first, we have to check if it s a software problem.

You are using the original operating system preinstalled by Toshiba. Is this good?
AFAIK the most recent series of laptop is equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
In this case, the Toshiba Recovery DVD has not been delivered with the laptop but there is an option to create a.
HARD drive recovery option can be used to reinstall and update the operating system.
I would recommend to repair the operating system and reinstall it again by pressing the F8 key. The Advanced Startup menu should appear and then you must choose to repair your computer.

This option will start the recovery procedure and the BONES to relocate again.
Please check if a new facility will improve the situation with Notepad.
In addition, it would be desirable to update the BIOS, if a newer version of the BIOS is available on the European driver Toshibas page.

If this suggestion won't help you then whole notebooks material must be check by a local ASP.

Toshiba Satellite A300D does not illuminate

The battery light is red when it is plugged in with the light of the white plug

When I press the power button it lights up two other fires, and one that looks like a sheet a4 fact paper.it a vibration when turning it on also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
Leave the laptop unplugged and then hold down power button / stop along 30 sec.
Then reconnect the two parts and check how the unit works.

In which case nothing would be visible on the screen, try replacing the RAM modules. Perhaps one of the modules is the troublemaker
Otherwise if the RAM modules are OK, the problem could be linked to the motherboard.

  • Satellite A300D and overheating

Someone with a problem of overheating of the Satellite A300D, if so, how to overcome this?

    Hello!

A friend of mine has a Satellite A300D. A very good laptop and he is very satisfied. He never told me about problems and it works perfectly.

Why not overheating A300D? Do you have this problem?
    If so, how does?
Maybe you should clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

I am owner of a Satellite A210 laptop. I've owned this during 2-3 weeks. Thursday, I noticed that my fan was working very hard, fast and never stop. Before that, he'd come rarely. I restarted the computer and once it came the fan came and does not stop. I left it for 30 minutes and it still continues. I checked down to see if she was overheated and it wasn't. I bought a little chilled out air and breathed he threw the two events, but she still continued.

Should I take back at the store that I bought and ask if they can fix this problem or is there a solution that I have not found?

    Thank you
    Tyler

    Hello

Try it please change the option of cooling method in the power settings to see if the cooling fan works more slowly. If there is no difference, you can contact the store and see what they say about it.
