Satellite A40-SP151 - ide #1 error on non-existent drive.

OK, I got a laptop Satellite A40-sp151; 3 months ago we sent it to repair and they have damaged the connector of the cd player.
If we use it without the cd unit.

It was fine, but yesterday I received an error ide #1, without apparent reason.
The worst is that said error won't start the computer as it will freeze.

Hello

The ide #1 error means that the BIOS does not recognize the device that is connected to the #1 controller.
Especially the HARD drive is connected to the controller of #0 and the CD/DVD drive is connected to the #1 controller.

In your case, it seems that the CD/DVD drive is bad and that is why this error.

Welcome them

  • Satellite A40-141 - IDE #1 error after the insertion of a new CD/DVD drive

    Hey there!

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A40 - 141 series.
I have built in a new dvd driver and after I restarted my laptop

I get the message IDE # 1 and I can't use the driver. I read in some forums that I probably need to update my bios. Now, here's the problem. I can only update version 1.5 for my laptop.

I tried that and get the message that I already have version 1.5. I can't find an another update of bios for the A40 series except the 1.5 which is since 2004.

    Can anyone help please?

Sorry for the long talk and bad English :-)
    Thank you

    Hello

    You are completely wrong boyfriend.
This problem will be resolved not the BIOS updates!

You bought the car just not compatible.
The IDE #1 error means that the device connected to the IDE 1 controller was not recognized. Why? Because of the wrong master/slave/C-salt settings!

Slim portable settings are controlled by the firmware and cannot be changed as weird for desktop PC.

Either you contact the manufacturing of the CD/DVD drive and will require an update of the firmware and how to change these settings or you need to purchase a new compatible RATING

  • Error satellite A40-SP151 - compatibility of the writer DL, DVD - RW - ide #1

    Hello
Can anyone add to the list of * of compatible DVD burners for Satellite A40-SP151 *.
Googling readers listed previously, they seemed to be just DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo.
    Download
    Toshiba G8CC0000R810
    Hitachi G8CC00015810
    TEAC G8CC0001D810
    HITACHI G8CC0001K810
    Panasonic G8CC0001C810
    Toshiba SDR2412OAA

I'm trying to upgrade to a DL, DVD - RW disc.

I can confirm KD08 Pioneer and Panasonic UJ - 850 FWv1.10 are _not_ compatible, this last, I can't find any firmware for (trying to swap master / slave settings)... (Don't want to mess with the pioneer)

I think the Ref. TOSHIBA DVD-RW/CD-RW COMBO SD-R6112 is compatible, if anyone can confirm this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that all of the list found in the manual of use of Satellite A40-SP151.
In my (not for the A40) user manual I could find compatible ratings

  • Satellite A40-SP151: can not make ethernet work card

    Hello

I went and stupidly installed new XP on my Satellite A40 and I can't do the ethernet card working (just Windows will not recognize it).
I tried MANY solutions (even some of this site) and the drivers and the problem is still there.

If someone could please tell me exactly what drivers work and where to get them, I'll give you literally infinite gratitude.

    Thanx

    Hey Buddy

To be honest, the Satellite A40-SP151 is unclear for me but as far as I know many portable Satellite A40 (series PSA40E) use the Intel LAN card.

Have you tried installing the Intel LAN driver v 8.0.43.0 of the European driver Toshiba page?

You can find the drivers Sat A40 Archive on the European driver page.

    You can choose:
    Archive Series-> Satellite A40-> PSA40E-> Satellite-> Satellite

  • Satellite Pro A10 - IDE 1 # error at startup to the top

HI, I have a Satellite pro A10 and everything is working very well in recent years to date.
A few days ago I started having a cd read error / invalid dvd disc format still drives fine on all the other PCs work.

Today as I get #1 error on boot up IDE... the laptop is always standard when I got off the shelf. thinking the drive might be dead due to wear I replaced the drive with a drive to work and I still get the same error. I removed the completely STRANGE and yet to come.

I also updated the usb floppy bios that has been a success. and the best part of all this. the dvd - rom supplied with the laptop works fine in my other a10 tosh!

Someone at - it ideas. I really need to replace the motherboard if I can help it. This is the only problem with the laptop.

    THX in advance people.

    Hello James

IDE 1 # error is typical when ODD is not accepted by the system. The reason may be defective drive or the use of non-compliant readers. The fact is that each player can not be used with all portable models because of the allocation of the different pins.

In your case, it is really strange that the work by car on other A10 but not on this one. Because of this, I presume that there may be a problem with connectors. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You can try to check out them and see if they are clean and not oxidized.

Sorry, but we cannot speculate what may be the problem but, as you know, only intensive test may give you more answers.

Good luck and let us know if you will find what is the problem of resources.

  • Satellite Pro A10: IDE #1 error - drive doesn't appear unless the CD is inserted

    Hello

I've been recently wearing on my bed watching a DVD when I fell asleep with the laptop sitting next me on my bed. During the night, however I moved and he accidentally knocked on the side of my bed.
The next day when I booted up the loading it said IDE #1 error since then I understand it is a mistake to CD/DVD drive, the device works very well, starts ok (except the IDE error) and I can use it as usual except that there is no DVD drive in 'My computer', which is a bit of a pain when I want to watch a movie/play a game or install something.

The drive itself is completely insensitive, when I press the button to eject the tray, it doesn't do a thing.
I decided to try to remove and put back the drive to see if it was struck just loose when he fell of the bed as he fell only in short way (approximately down to 18 ".)

I removed all the covers on the bottom of the laptop and checked that all was in place correctly and to try to understand how to remove the drive but would not do too adventurous as to worsen the situation, the only thing I have done is to remove the CPU fan and remove a few stuffed animals and remove the HARD drive and glanced to make sure it was not damaged in any place) It wasn't) and then replaced and replace all covers.

When I rebooted the system, it started fine as usual, and the player react when I press the eject button, but the DVD player (sometimes) will now appear in 'My computer', but only when I insert something (be it a DVD/game/program), then it displays the error message an error of e/s on the device there.

Any help of you all would be a great help, I thought just remove the drive and replacing it with a new one as a DVD RW one but I do not know how, I would be very grateful for advice and guidance you could provide.

    Thank you very much
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

It is possible that the relocation of your optical drive may be necessary to refer it to the full. Unfortunately on the A10, it will be dismantled in order to achieve its screws located under the keyboard.

Please see the following link for the complete disassembly instructions. The DVD player is covered in step 13. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA15/SatelliteA15_laptop_disassembly_1.htm

    Hello

I've been everywhere looking for an answer to my perhaps problem you guys here can help me. Im getting an ide #0 error when I start my laptop, essentially the original hard drive has become defective, I had to keep reinstalling windows on it because that recognize all a udden, it would just not my operating system.

Anyway, I recently bought a new hard drive and it was all works very well for about a week, then all of a sudden I turn on the laptop and no hard drive is detected at all and all I get is "error ide #0", I checked in the bios and its not reading the hard drive at all.

had no idea what that means or what he should do about it here, can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

    Thank you

After a few exstensive read on this forum, I think it may have something to do with the size and the hard drive, it is a 120 GB fujitsu CA0653-B042, I feel that maybe it is not compatible or even great!

so... My question is if it's not compatible is it still possible to make it work in the first place, as this was very much a week?

    Post edited by: Abracadabra

    Hello

This very mysterious case as you have already said the IDE #0 error is displayed because the BIOS can not recognize the HARD drive than claire.
But usually the BIOS should not recognize the HARD drive the first time because of the size of the HARD drive, it's strange why the HARD drive worked for a week

Anyway, in my opinion the 120 GB seems to be too big and so you should try another size maybe 60GB

PS: Have you tried to change the jumper on the HARD drive to another position?

When a reboot my Toshiba raise an error: "IDE 1 error".
This is a message of incompatible equipment? There is a solution for this error?
    How can I solve this?

    Hello

What to say dudea? ¦a? ... seems you have made a big mistake and purchased a bad CD/DVD drive.
This error message is only displayed if the drive supports bad master\slave or c - salt settings!

You should know that not all readers are compatible and can be used in the laptop!
AFAIK the operating manual provides information on some readers supported!

But if you na? t know this drive is compatible, try to contact the service provider allowed in your country and order the support one new!

    Good luck

  • How can I get rid of non-existent drive (local disk Q :) that is displayed on the screen of my computer?

original title: How do I get rid of non-existent hard disk that appears on my computer screen?

I have a local disk (q) that loads automatically on my folder "Computer" [the folder that shows all hard drives and peripheral storage removable]. The drive does not exist and when I double click above it says "Q:\\ is not accessible access is denied." I unplugged my external hard drives, and these drives disappear from the screen by this disc remains still.  How can I get rid of him?

I found an article from third party in which people have found a solution:

Hide the Local disk (q) added by Office 2010 Beta

I hope this helps! (you can back up the registry first)

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk

  • Satellite SA50-110 - IDE #1 error after the insertion of a new CD/DVD drive

    Hey there!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite SA50-110 portable psa50e.
I have built in a new dvd driver and after I restarted my laptop

I get the message IDE # 1 and I can't use the driver. I read in some forums that I probably need to update my bios. I do it. But the error continues.
    Can anyone help please?

I am that all readers of optical discs aren't for each laptop model. The problem is: assignment of pins. Therefore, it is very important to use compatible hardware components.

In my case the problem is compatibility.
With the SA50-110 Satellite, what can I use?

    Press any key when ready...

& He repeats once again & again...

Drive HARD 100%, it works, I connect it via USB to another PC!
Try to boot from Windows XP CD or DVD installation!

    HELP ME PLEASE!

    Hello

The ERROR IDE #0 message because the BIOS can't recognize the new HARD drive.

The second error message like PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable is displayed because the BIOS did not find the HARD drive as a boot device, then the laptop tries to boot from the local network as a last option.
Due to boot from LAN is unavailable the PXE error message and provide this message

Well, what to say you should check the HARD drive if there are some riders who controls the settings master\slave\c-salt.
For most switching jumper might help to solve this problem. But the problem is that not all HDD 2.5 supports these horsemen.

  • Removal of a USB storage device translates to a non-existent drive letter that appears.

If I plug in a USB flash drive or USB hard drive classic as a WD passport, in one of the USB ports on a G71150US with Win 7 home premium, then remove it, a new hard drive symbol and the letter displayed in Explorer 'computer '. This symbol indicates that there are 0 bytes in use and 0 bytes used or free.  This happens even if I followed the correct procedure and use the process of "remove".

What is the problem, a BIOS problem?  A Win 7 problem?

The problem seems to be related to "Version of Office 2010 Starter and click to Run" part of this software that is bundled with most new computers. I uninstalled the files for Office 2010, click here to run Office 2010 and the uninstalled starter 'Office 2010' version and the ghost car is no longer.

  • Non-existent devices USB not recognized

We get the message that USB device not recognized on several machines (Dell Optiplex 980) with XP and the same type of machines with Windows 7. The only USB devices that are attached to the machine are the keyboard and the mouse and the two are identified by the system and are working properly. Mention all the answers that I can find for similar questions about errors for non-existent devices. Can anyone help? Thank you

No card reader. I submitted this to Dell as the system is a Dell Optiplex 980 and they said that the problem may be with the motherboard that needs to be reset. I tried to unplug the PC from the wall, but that has not solved the problem. They sent a technician with a new motherboard. That did not help. When downloading all the drivers I could find, I noticed that the monitor was turning and all by itself. Also noticed that we had a USB2 cable connection of the monitor to the computer to activate the USB port that is built into the monitor. When I pulled the usb2 to the monitor cable, the error has disappeared and when I plugged it in the returned error. I have this will report to Dell, but in the short term, the problem is resolved.
