Satellite A500 (PSAM3E) - changes again BIOS

New Bios released by Toshiba, I'm excited by the changelog, because the speaker is always crackling!

Hello

Normally, the changelog is available on the Toshiba site and otherwise there is no changelog. ;)

But about intervene crackling you can already find some threads here. Use the search forum for this problem. AFAIK, you must update the display driver and if it doesn't work, contact your authorized service provider. Technicians can check the laptop and fix it for you.

  • Can I switch to i5 or i7 Core 2 Duo on the Satellite A500-PSAM3A

    Hey there.

I wondered if I would be able to change the cpu on my computer of my 2.10 Ghz Intel core 2 duo processor i5 or i7 and wanted to know if I could, because I heard all that stuff about requiring a special chipset or a new card mother for something like that.

Oh Yes... my laptop model is Toshiba Satellite A500-PSAM3A-04000E

So as I said, I would appreciate an answer as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

_Why an Exchange must / can not be done: _

No significant performance will be won (-> price vs performance comparison)

It is unclear if the new processor is compatible to the system board. Integrated chipsets can take charge of their technical specifications a wide range of processors, but this does not mean that all types of CPU can be used in a mobile system, since integrated cooling systems are designed individually for each set of model in order to ensure the optimal operation of the machine. An incorrect CPU can cause the system to overheat and damage the internal system components.

In most cases, the BIOS does not work with the replaced CPU which causes a malfunction of the machine. The BIOS needs to be rewritten after each Exchange of a CPU that can only be done by an authorized Toshiba service partner.

The immediate revocation of the warranty will apply if the part of the core component have been modified by the customer. This also applies when the machine was not disassembled by a certified Toshiba technician.

Satellite A500 PSAM3A - 04200E seems to belong to the Australian series for Toshiba laptop.
To use a backlit keyboard, the motherboard must provide a special port/connector for keyboard light cable.

    * (Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupted or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0 x 80070570). *

I just got my win7 DVD from Toshiba, the corrupt DVD upgrade or other issues, before the installation, a message appears that I need to uninstall install ATI Catalyst and ATI catalyst Control Panel.

Need help from the expert who have already done the upgrade.

    Hello

    > before installation, a message appears that I need to uninstall install ATI Catalyst and ATI catalyst Control Panel.
And why you didn t do?
Maybe you run an earlier version of the display drivers and so you should uninstall them before you start the upgrade.
    Check it!

After the upgrade, you can install the latest version of the Toshiba page display driver.

  • Dead by Satellite A500-1pj after involuntary Bios Update

    Hello world

A friend of mine bought a new PC laptop toshiba Satellite A500-1pj a month ago. Windows 7 pro 64-bit pre-installed.
Also preinstalled: support software toshiba who - correctly - configured search automatically and installs updates and critical fixes.

Last Sunday this wonderful software recommended an update 'critical' to my friend - she's no expert but a user experienced who can make the difference between an update of the bios (and avoid this!) and a security patch, she agreed to download and install what she believed to be a security update.

Sure, she gave permission to an update of the bios being installed. During the process of updating the machine froze completely. She waited for three hours and then pulled the plug. Guess what: the machine is now completely gone. Does not display without fan, simply nothing.

Hotline support Toshiba told him that his cell two weeks old is not under warranty because this warranty does not cover software 'problems and the Bios updates are software upgrades.

The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...

    My questions:

    (1) the laptop is a Satellite A500-1pj (PSAR9E-01M00QGR) fitted to a phoenix UEFI bios (bios toshiba/phoenix, 1.1.26 update tool is pretty radical - no warning at all! he tried to update me my computer dell laptop, lucky!).
I found some posts on older machines that can be reflashed using a usb disk, hot spare bios back and a combination of keys (Fn + B or Fn + F...). is it possible to do this with a UEFI bios too?

    (2) anyone out there have the same problem?

    (3) any chance of toshiba help us with that issue and prevent others from making the same mistake to understand at least a warning in their bios updates?

    Thanks for your help!

    Tony

    > The company repair says a repair will very probably equal to buy a new laptop so here we are...
    I doubt that
I think that the module ROM BIOS was flashed incorrectly (don't know why) and therefore you can not start the laptop.
This can happen for different reasons, maybe that the update process was interrupted due to a process running in the background, etc.

In order to solve this problem, the ROM module must be flashed again using a special crisis disk BIOS... that's all.

The update of the BIOS is always a sensitive procedure but if everything was done correctly, then update the BIOS must successfully complete.

I found this very interesting and useful to Toshiba and HowTo doc correctly updated the BIOS!

  • Satellite A500 - cannot update the BIOS (error message)

    Hello

    I have a PSAR3A - 02U002 Satellite A500 with BIOS version 1.9 is installed.

After reading several forums, I discovered that there may be a BIOS (v2.0) update available to resolve the current problem, these Satellites have with overheating cooling switch down.

Excited, I have tried to install the new BIOS - this is what I get:

"There is an error occurred, please check below the elements."
    BIOS version more than 200.
    Battery capacity more than 10%.
    AC is fixed. »

First of all, my BIOS version is 190, no more than 200. Second, I find it very difficult to believe that the battery must be less than 10%. And third, I don't see what that remove the power supply cable will do.

Please note that this update of the BIOS found on Toshiba's European website, but v2.0 claims to be a worldwide release. I then checked on the Australian site and there is no BIOS for my model. I don't know how to interpret this contradiction.

    Help, please!

    Hi umm_excuse_me,

So I think that BIOS update is not available at this time for you. European and Australian models have different model numbers, so I doubt that the update of the BIOS is always the same. The pieces of equipment may also be different.

In your case, I would wait until the BIOS was released on the page Australian too.

By the way: where did you read that this update was release in the world?

  • Satellite 1000-S158 changed the BIOS password on an empty

I changed the BIOS password on an empty (blank). I can't access the BIOS. Pressing on enter: it shows the error isn't the right password.
    How can I fix?

Hmm. sounds you did something wrong maybe you misspelled or set a different password?

Anyway, the point is that you are not able to bypass the BIOS password screen and in this case you will be unable to start Notepad.

The problem is that you cannot remove the BIOS password, this can be done by a technician of ASP.

In my opinion only technician in ASP can help you.

If someone has the original settings, I would be grateful for any help.

    Derek has soon

    Hello Derek

Use the F2 key to enter the BIOS settings and change the order of boot devices. This option is under the STARTUP tab. Otherwise, you can insert the recovery CD when the unit is turned OFF. Turn it on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a few seconds and unit is forced from the CD/DVD drive.

    Hello, Lukas

Unfortunately there no public document on this subject, but if you see other topics, you will see the latest version fix some graphics issues and it is confirmed that the latest version fix this with success.

I put t know why your last update of the BIOS has been without success, but when you do the BIOS update please remember there is no external device connected, and is very important to do with AC power only and not with power supply battery. Before you start with the update BIOS please Info how to do this.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A500-1DN (PSAR3E) - Dead BIOS after flashing

    Hi all.
First of all, sorry for my English.

My problem is simple, I have a bios dead after flashing Toshiba service station (or something like that).

How it happened? : 4 days ago, it asked me to update. It was for me quite normal because she asked for updates on a daily basis. I enablished day and after a few cliks on button then I noticed it has been updated to BIOS and is almost in half. I wanted to wait to the end (because I know if I stop uptade of bios, I end up with dead bios (bios corrupted)) but collapsed almost at the end and he showed me a few errors. After that my laptop did a restart and I couldn't stop it. He died.

Now, if I push the power button / stop I get a screen black (as it is off) som LED turns on and the Cpu fan to perhaps 10%.

What I did the last 3 days? : I searched all the residents on what to do with it. I tried maybe 10 types out crisdisks with usb and CD (with floppy isn't becose Bios for my laptop is too big for 1 floopy).
I tried to start with FN + B this has worked for me CD player began to search for CDs, USB key showed activity, but dead end happened nothing. I tried to make the Boot usb with the latest minidos.sys and phlash16.exe. I tried to combinate but still nothing.
I tried everything I found on internet forums around. Nothing helps.
Another thing is that only bios I found was 1.90. If anyone has an older bios for my laptop pls give me a link. I'm losing hope becose I can not find anithing on google.
I am an advenced user I almost did this medication with the pc, but I've never worked with dead bios.

Pls someone help me and give me a correct crisdisk for my model. Or another sugestion.

    Hello

Sorry, mate, but you should contact the http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/ ASP.

Unfortunately, the warranty does not cover failure of the bios and you will have to pay about US $ 50-60 (anyway, it costs like that in my service center)

  • Satellite A500-13W - after update BIOS the FN buttons do not work

Yesterday I updated my Bios of my laptop to 1.50. After that the FN buttons no longer works. Can someone help me? ^ ^

    Sorry for my bad English

    Hello

You have installed the correct version of the BIOS of your laptop?

Features of FN buttons are normally not depending on the version of the BIOS. So, you need Toshiba value added Package and utility tools to Support Flash Cards. Then I recommend to reinstall two of them.

    You can download it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Remove all older versions first. Reboot then install VAP and finally Flash Cards Support utility.

    Hello!

What you downloaded exactly on the Toshiba site?

As written Akuma you must install first added value Package you will find also on the Toshiba site. Check this box!

An interesting thing: it does not work if you are using the preinstalled operating system? It should have everything installed for your laptop.

    Good bye

  • After BIOS update Intel speed step does not not on Satellite A500

I upgraded my Satellite A500 PSAM3E model to the most recent BIOS 1.50, now the Intel speed step does not!

My CPU is always 2 GHz +, I have chagned power Plan to balanced, but no change... with precedent the CPU was about 800 MHz.
When I try to change the Windows 7 power management and set the maximum CPU at 50 or 80% performance, the system hangs.

    Hey Szaby59,

What older BIOS version were you using before update to 1.50?

I also use maximum CPU performance option for ecomode (50%), but it does not work properly.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if use you your own Windows installation or factory settings. Normally, after using the Toshiba Recovery disk you don t have install Toshiba tools more. Everything is preinstalled on your laptop.
