Satellite A55: damaged or missing ntoskrnl.exe

To anyone who reads this,

Help!

I don't know why, but when I turned on my computer (it worked very well about 10 minutes ago), the window reads that

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.exe.
Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

This is my first time having a problem like this. I already went to the Microsoft site and found this

http://support.Microsoft.com/?scid=http%3A%2f%2Fwww.support.Microsoft.com%2fkb% 2f314477% 2fen - us % 2f

However, I don't know what to do. I put the recovery CD in and nothing happened. And I don't know what is the Windows XP CD-Rom. Whatever it is, I don't seem to be. Can someone help me please?

Hello

If you are not familiar with stuff like this the simplest way is to reinstall the device using Recovery DVD that you got with your laptop.

Place the recovery media in the DVD drive and unplug the unit. Turn on the unit and press the C button and keep it down. On this way the DVD player will be a first in the boot priority. If everything works fine the recovery procedure will be implemented. Please follow the instructions on the screen.

I hope that you have no file on the HARD drive because if you start the recovery procedure will be formatted the entire HARD drive and all files will be deleted.

Good bye

I had windows installed on a HARD drive and received an SSD and I decided on the SSD HARD drive image, so I wouldn't have to reinstall. As I suspected it might that cause some problems and I decided to simply wipe the SSD drive and attempt to reinstall. I wiped the SSD and started my windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 DVD. It will pass through the first process (Windows loading files) with the screen of levels of grey and the downstairs, but subsequently loading bar, I get an error telling me that the ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged, and I have no option other than to try again to load the disc, or stop. I have another disc of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit I tried to use, and it gave me the same message. There are a few other errors I received, I do not at the moment, but as soon as I get some time and if I get them again once I will update the thread with this info.

  • missing Ntoskrnl.exe after done windows auto update.

My computer did an automatic update of windows and when it restarts came with error windows that said it didn't close properly and to insert the functioning of the drive and choose "repair option". I tried this but the computer does not recognize that I have the disc in the cd drive. It restarts and goes directly to the Windows error windows does not stop correctly.

I called the manufacturer in this regard, nothing helps. They even suggested that I run a Scan of GWS, which I was not able to do what the computer is not recognizing all orders. \

Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you change your boot order before booting from the disc?

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Ntoskrnl.exe damaged or missing error

I'm now locked in battle with the ntoskrnl.exe file corrupted on my computer. It started a week ago when I stopped, I noticed updates have been planned and so I clicked on to install updates and shut down option. Next morning all * broke loose and I'm dealing with a damaged or missing ntoskrnl.exe file. Now when I start the machine starts OK and then when the Windows boot screen showing moving green lines appear, it holds for a few seconds and then automatically start startup repair... After working on what he comes back with mode "cannot repair computer automatically, and when I ask to send the information contained in". I can't find any additional information. System restore fails due to a corrupted file. I have tried and actually started the system with the recovery in the drive but not from this date disc... maybe I'm super tired. I read that you can expand the file in the location of the recovery disc, but I get confused the guidelines regarding disk numbers. Is it possible to buy a HARD drive up, install it in the machine and then install vista on it and set the new drive as the primary drive and leave the old drive in pure storage. Or the problem would still exist? I have photos stored on the drive and more priceless family of financial records and other important documents on it as well. • After restoring to factory setting... ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged

I have a problem with my Asus R500VD laptop.

My phone was at a standstill after I opened a few applications and after waiting for a while, I decided to shut it down by holding the power button for a few seconds. After that, I got a BSOD error 0xc0000221 saying ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged. I tried to go back to a previous system restore point, tried chkdsk /r (no error based), tried bootrec with all options (it shows 0 found windows installations), tried a full restore to factory (using the on my laptop's recovery partition), but nothing has worked. I always get the error above.

When I restart, it tries to automatically repair the system (that works, it cannot solve problems automatically) and at some point it changes recent cancellations (complete the recovery I think). I tried the different boot options, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? It doesn't seem to be any corruption in the filesystem (chkdsk), ntoskrnl.exe is not missing...

Thanks for your help! Greaty I appreciate it! Tips are welcome!

    Hi Blueelvis,

No, unfortunately I don't have a spare HARD drive. But... I sent it back to the shop where I bought it. Should still be under warranty. I have included all our correspondence to give them an overview of what has been tried. Thanks for your help! I hope that I get a replacement or they're going to fix it. I also ran memtest86 + using The Ultimate Boot Disk and he found loads of errors--not sure whether memory is as bad or if it has something to do with the 8 GB with 64-bit processor.

  • Configuring updates... Missing or corrupt NTOSKRNL.exe

    Hello

I have a sony VGN NR260E, (Windows Vista Home Premium) recently on power, windows entered the dreaded

    Configuring updates 1 3 mode...
She was followed by a reboot that caused the error

Windows boot manager cannot start Windows...
    File ntoskrnl.exe
    Status: 0xc0000098
Info: windows could not load because a required file is missing or damaged

So, fortunately I have a recovery disk and I did a recovery to a previous restore point - and windows came fine. Since then, I have disabled the Windows updates

The problem is in the power down and turn on the system back in the
Configuration of updates (followed by a ntoskrnl.exe error restart failure) mode

    The result is that
    1. I cannot turn off without going through this lengthy procedure
    2. I can't get updates

So, how to stop windows from "reflection", there is somehting to configure (new can't power upward).

I also tried the fix Windows6. 0-KB937287-v2 - x 86, but when I run it it says it isn't neceassry (or something similar) on my system

Please help because it is originally no end of grief

    Hello

might be possible that the RAM is faulty. Already tried a RAMtest with Memtest86? These things happen when the HARD or the RAM disk is defective. It sounds like a hardware problem, so I suggest you to bring your machine to an authorized service partner.

    Hello

I have an almost 5 year old toshiba Qosmio F20-153, which has developed an error with the Windows message root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file is missing.
I wonder if it's fixable without completely re - install the complete operating system that I still have the Toshiba restore disk.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

In my view, your only option is recovering the entire notebook. The Toshiba Recovery disk only contains an image of factory settings, which means that you can t install this single file of this disc.
In addition it s a good idea to reinstall Windows from time to time. If your installation is already 5 years old, you should do this. You will be surprised with the speed of your laptop is after that. :)

Use the recovery disk is quite simple: you must boot from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen. You do a few clicks only and that s it!

  • "When restarting, get the error, Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: < root Windows > \system32\ntoskrnl.exe.

There is a good chance that the disk check running the Recovery Console will solve the problem.

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in your CD-ROM drive and restart your computer. If you are prompted, select any options needed to start (boot) on the CD.

    2. when the text portion of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recovery option by pressing R.

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.

    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If you have not set a password for the account admin simply press on enter

    5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k).

    6. at the end of the output of scan type > press ENTER.

    7 restart your computer.

I have a laptop with a ntoskrnl;. exe file that is missing or corrupted and cannot rebuild or load from cd, can I download this file somewhere, or what I can do to re - install this file and how?

    Hi WEBERSCHLOTZSKY,

    1. When you receive the error message?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    3. what happens when you try to copy the file from the Windows XP CD?

There are several reasons for this error message to occur.

This problem is often caused when the boot.ini file is missing or misconfigured. This problem often occurs when a user has recently added or removed from an operating system on the computer or added or deleted hard disk drives in the computer.
