Ntoskrnl.exe damaged or missing error

I'm now locked in battle with the ntoskrnl.exe file corrupted on my computer. It started a week ago when I stopped, I noticed updates have been planned and so I clicked on to install updates and shut down option. Next morning all * broke loose and I'm dealing with a damaged or missing ntoskrnl.exe file. Now when I start the machine starts OK and then when the Windows boot screen showing moving green lines appear, it holds for a few seconds and then automatically start startup repair... After working on what he comes back with mode "cannot repair computer automatically, and when I ask to send the information contained in". I can't find any additional information. System restore fails due to a corrupted file. I have tried and actually started the system with the recovery in the drive but not from this date disc... maybe I'm super tired. I read that you can expand the file in the location of the recovery disc, but I get confused the guidelines regarding disk numbers. Is it possible to buy a HARD drive up, install it in the machine and then install vista on it and set the new drive as the primary drive and leave the old drive in pure storage. Or the problem would still exist? I have photos stored on the drive and more priceless family of financial records and other important documents on it as well. Dell Studio Desktop Core 2 Duo Windows Home Premium x 64 processor.

    Hi WEBERSCHLOTZSKY,

    1. When you receive the error message?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    3. what happens when you try to copy the file from the Windows XP CD?

There are several reasons for this error message to occur.

This problem is often caused when the boot.ini file is missing or misconfigured. This problem often occurs when a user has recently added or removed from an operating system on the computer or added or deleted hard disk drives in the computer.

I got the windows\system32\config\system error damaged or missing today and do the chkdsk c:/r on it and he said: "The Volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems"... is it still fixable or have I just lost my HD?

I can't do a cause of model, that I built it 2 years ago.
I run windows xp professional, service Pack3, all updates
I use spybot, avg, windows defender and malwarebytes
Caused the computer to restart 4 times and I didn't know it until it was too late cause we had electricians turning the power on/off and I didn't know my computer kept on again and restart.
I have a cdrom to work and I still have the xp cd.

Note: I tried to do a repair of windows, go to the Setup screen. But there was no repair to the screen only option how much space is free, if I wanted to install or delete a partition. I have nothing just to the left.

If chkdsk does not resolve your hard drive, then you will need in the end not completely reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows.  Before doing so, however, you must save as much data as you can to an external USB hard drive.  If your system boots, then save as much as the hard drive will allow.  If your system does not start, then you should try to boot from a bootable CD that will support USB drives (I prefer free Linux Livecd such as Knoppix), then again until you can.

To reinstall Windows, many computers have a recovery Partition that will restore your computer to its State as purchaser which can be activated by pressing a combination of keys special at the time where the manufacturer splash screen goes back to the start.  Read quickly, find the appropriate key combination and press it to reinstall Windows - well in your case, it seems that you have an installation CD.  If the request to do a 'Quick format' or 'Regular Format', do not select Quick format.

  • Winload.exe damaged or missing (0xc0000221)

Have been running Vista on a T61 Lenovo Think Pad for more than a year and just today (just a week after the expiration of the warranty), windows vista does not completely start.  I get the black screen with the following error:

Windows could not start. a recent change in hardware or software may be the cause. to resolve this problem:
(boot from the cd and repair windows) (actually doesn't say that, but that's what he tells you to do)
    File: /windows/system32/winload.exe
    Status: 0xc0000221
Info: the file is corupt possibaly. the header checksum does not match the checksum calculated.

I created a boot disk (since the manufacturer did not provide with the laptop) and was able to perform the repair (with no luck) and system restore (with no luck).  I can get in the quick c: through the startup disk and I ran the BIOS screen HARD drive diagnosis and it happened (so far... still underway).

The manufacturer support told me that I needed to remove or replace my HDD and reinstall Windows which I can't believe would be the solution to this...

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

  • new out of the box, all the ink cartridges damaged or missing error 8500

So, I just got the officejet pro 8500 wireless. follow the instructions in game. at the start he said that ALL the ink cartridges are missing or damaged. I have a hard time believing that, if something is down or I missed something very basic in the installation program.

I tried to remove the cartridges and re - install. Also checked that they are in the correct order. Don't know what to try next.

Well he chalked it up to random mishap. I installed the software to see if she said something more useful. not a lot, but he pointed out that he was missing all the cartridges. I went back and exchanged the printer. the replacement is fine.

  • After restoring to factory setting... ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged

I have a problem with my Asus R500VD laptop.

My phone was at a standstill after I opened a few applications and after waiting for a while, I decided to shut it down by holding the power button for a few seconds. After that, I got a BSOD error 0xc0000221 saying ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged. I tried to go back to a previous system restore point, tried chkdsk /r (no error based), tried bootrec with all options (it shows 0 found windows installations), tried a full restore to factory (using the on my laptop's recovery partition), but nothing has worked. I always get the error above.

When I restart, it tries to automatically repair the system (that works, it cannot solve problems automatically) and at some point it changes recent cancellations (complete the recovery I think). I tried the different boot options, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? It doesn't seem to be any corruption in the filesystem (chkdsk), ntoskrnl.exe is not missing...

Thanks for your help! Greaty I appreciate it! Tips are welcome!

    Hi Blueelvis,

No, unfortunately I don't have a spare HARD drive. But... I sent it back to the shop where I bought it. Should still be under warranty. I have included all our correspondence to give them an overview of what has been tried. Thanks for your help! I hope that I get a replacement or they're going to fix it. I also ran memtest86 + using The Ultimate Boot Disk and he found loads of errors--not sure whether memory is as bad or if it has something to do with the 8 GB with 64-bit processor.

  • Qosmio F20-153 - ntoskrnl.exe file missing

    Hello

I have an almost 5 year old toshiba Qosmio F20-153, which has developed an error with the Windows message root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file is missing.
I wonder if it's fixable without completely re - install the complete operating system that I still have the Toshiba restore disk.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

In my view, your only option is recovering the entire notebook. The Toshiba Recovery disk only contains an image of factory settings, which means that you can t install this single file of this disc.
In addition it s a good idea to reinstall Windows from time to time. If your installation is already 5 years old, you should do this. You will be surprised with the speed of your laptop is after that. :)

Use the recovery disk is quite simple: you must boot from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen. You do a few clicks only and that s it!

  • When turned on the computer he get an error message ' missing < root windows > \system32\ntoskrnl.exe.

Hi, I replaced the motherboard in my computer, it seems to work very well, but when you turn on the computer I get an error message:

    \SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.exe is missing or damaged

At this stage there is no cursor, or what I can do to get in my area on my drive, it's as if the computer shuts down and this message does not disappear.

I am running Windows XP operating system.

Is there a solution for this?

  • missing Ntoskrnl.exe and other errors when who reinstall windows 7 pro 64-bit

I had windows installed on a HARD drive and received an SSD and I decided on the SSD HARD drive image, so I wouldn't have to reinstall. As I suspected it might that cause some problems and I decided to simply wipe the SSD drive and attempt to reinstall. I wiped the SSD and started my windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 DVD. It will pass through the first process (Windows loading files) with the screen of levels of grey and the downstairs, but subsequently loading bar, I get an error telling me that the ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged, and I have no option other than to try again to load the disc, or stop. I have another disc of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit I tried to use, and it gave me the same message. There are a few other errors I received, I do not at the moment, but as soon as I get some time and if I get them again once I will update the thread with this info.

I also ran memtestx86 and there were errors with a specific location, but I just removed the RAM of this niche and I guess it should be OK after that. Am I wrong?

I am the computer OEM. If I need to provide more information please let me know and I can accommodate.

    Thank you.

The problem was with RAM. One of my 4GB DIMMS was bad. I removed and changed my poles autour needed and I could boot disk Windows 7 Pro and install correctly.

A faulty RAM stick was causing the problem.

I don't know why, but when I turned on my computer (it worked very well about 10 minutes ago), the window reads that

    Hello

If you are not familiar with stuff like this the simplest way is to reinstall the device using Recovery DVD that you got with your laptop.

Place the recovery media in the DVD drive and unplug the unit. Turn on the unit and press the C button and keep it down. On this way the DVD player will be a first in the boot priority. If everything works fine the recovery procedure will be implemented. Please follow the instructions on the screen.

I hope that you have no file on the HARD drive because if you start the recovery procedure will be formatted the entire HARD drive and all files will be deleted.

    Good bye
