Satellite A660 - protection of HARD drive utility does not enable protection

Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 1F6, unfortunately the usefulness of Toshiba HDD protection does not enable protection because all the buttons are gray, and when I try to open it, a message appears: "He was not able to set up properly for the Service of HARD drive Protection System."

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the situation does not change.

Thank you.

Are you using the original operating system preinstalled that you got with your laptop?

    Hello

This does not work because you have installed Win 7 64 bit as you said here:
    > I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, that the laptop came with Win7 Home Premium 32 bit.
But have you tried also pressing F8-> fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery?
    Try this

Otherwise, drive HARD recovery does not work because the boot manager has been changed or damaged as a result of the new install of Win 7 and this is why you cannot load HARD drive recovery.
That is why it s always recommended to create a recovery disc before changing anything on the HARD drive.

What to tell buddy you need recovery disks. I guess that you have a European model for laptop

You can order the recovery discs here:

Is it possible to make this work?

    Thank you

    Ben

    Hello Ben.

This software is tested with the original configuration s notebook.
Are you sure that Toshiba supports these updates on this laptop model? I don t think so.

In General, you should be happy that the second HARD drive is recognized correctly.

Anyone with the same problem has this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

I visited the European Toshiba driver page and didn t find the Vista drivers for the U400 PSU44E series.
Are you sure that you downloaded the good HDD Protection Utility to 100%?

At the other hand that this error message may appears because the HDD Protection Utility is not fully compatible with the ultimate edition of Vista
I read in some messages that this might be the reason also.

  • How to install Windows without recovery disc - Satellite A660 with new HARD drive

    Hey,.

Portable 500 GB HDD of my friend Toshiba Satellite A660 seems to have died.
I tied him to my laptop on a sata dock and runs a data recovery program because nothing has been saved. The recovery takes forever, however, and she really needs his computer to work.

Because the hard disk may be damaged in any case, I am considering buying a new hard drive and install in the Toshiba.

How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?
The old drive was a partition recovery on it, I think, but this seems useless with a new drive.
Operating system is Windows 7 64 bit home edition.

The product key is on the bottom of the laptop.
I live in Turkey and so I don't think there is a Toshiba store is close.
There are individual computer stores, so I'm confident, I can buy a new internal hard drive (I could find the sata dock here), but he must know what to do to install the software, etc.

    Thank you!
    Chris

    > How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?

You either have the recovery disk or you are going to install the system using the Microsoft Windows disk.
The necessary drivers are in internet on Toshiba UE page.

The recovery disc can also be ordered here:

  • Alternative to the reset by Satellite A660 for potential HARD drive problem

In the last week or two, I got a few blue screens, saying he was driving demand, and that windows must be shut down to avoid damage my computer.

I have just restart and continue working.
The last time it happened, I had repeatedly "initialization failed" and it says hdd, SDS, fdd. If I pressed the power button until I didn't see no signs of activity, then started. Things went well. I called Toshiba support and they recommended that I go home and save my files before continuing. It took hours selectively to clean, sort the previous backups, and a small footprint of the backup system.

When I called Toshiba once again, they recommended a "takeover", which is restoring the factory settings. It puts me in the stone age. I have to go through a never-ending process of the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, install and reconfigure all the applications and environments/configurations, etc. It will essentially take on holiday, if not more. I'll also have to get another computer (maybe a netbook) to stay in touch while I restart my laptop. It's barely more than a year.

Is there a diagnosis I can do to determine the probability that there is a hard drive problem? Support for Toshiba said that is the surest way, because it provides a diagnostic F10 for the hard disk code, and it also pushes the bad sectors at the end of the disc (logically, I suppose, since you can't physically move a fault).

    > About Hitachi DFT, is it important that my HARD drive is Toshiba mk6465gsx? This is what is displayed "Hard drives" in the Device Manager.

It s no matter what HARD drive manufacturer, it is the Drive Fitness Test is able to scan all hard drives to find errors.

    > Also, http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFTshows links to create boot disks, but I was wondering if I could create a bootable instead.

Not sure if this is possible if there is that one option to create a startup disk, and then a flash stick does not work. But of course you can try this out.

    > This laptop does not come with a floppy drive, and I still create coasters trying to burn discs.
You don't need the floppy drive, the tool must create a disk bootable (CD)

    > I guess that the same question can be asked on Memtest86. Another issue is the relevance of Memtest86 for my system. My c drive has a "Program Files" folder, but also a "Program Files (x 86)" folder for 32-bit applications. Memtest86 is for the x 86 architecture. I don't know if my 64-bit Windows 7 involves a non - x 86 architecture.

I guess that Memtest86 should also work on Win 7 64 bit systems. But also the MemTest 4.20 is 64-bit capable

  • Re: Satellite a660 - problem with HARD drive!

    Hello!

When I turned on my computer this morning, first time I heard the HARD drive worked very noisy. It was like buzzing and clicking, has never been like that. Computer is 3 months old, bought in the pc world.

If anyone can help what to do?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > he was like a buzzing and clicking on... Was never like that. Computer 3 months ago.

Sometimes, this can happen with the new hard drive too. I recommend you save all data, if it stops working. In case you, I communicate with the service center and ask them to replace. they will do it for free. you see, it looks like mechanical problem and don't think you can fix it yourself

  • Iomega Portable hard drive now does not appear under "Devices" after accidentally deleted USB cable. USB

My Iomega eGo Portable hard drive was connected by USB on my Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.5 cable and I was transferring my iPhoto folder.  Unfortunately, the cable dropped and I got a message on my laptop hard drive had not ejected correctly.   I reconnected it the cable, but now, it does not appear under devices in the search page.  I also checked the disc utilities and it isn't here either.  I tried to connect the hard drive of my iMac, but it does not appear in the devices out there either.

Although I have been using a Mac since they first appeared on the market and can usually work things, I find it more and more difficult with all the new technology.  Everything that used to be so easy, one of the great things the Mac since MS-DOS.

If anyone can help I would be very grateful, because I have a lot of files on this disc of old Mac and use the Iomega to backup my most important files.

    The drive may have failed.

    Try different USB cables.

Remove the naked drive from the iOmega enclosure and test it in a known functional wardrobe.

  • Hard drive error, does not start.

Computer does not start. I get this failure code:
    Rw1xtw-7ax87b-mfpv6k-619403

Can't find any information on this subject, can someone shed some light on this subject for me?

    Hello

It decodes for hard drive error 305 or the hard drive has failed, you will need to get the replaced hard drive and reinstall the OS and have a Fresh start, note that all your data is saved on the hard drive will be lost.

  • Windows Vista install the new WD hard drive empty - does not not :(

It was my original question: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/HP-Pavillion-a6645f-No-hard-drive-detected-BIOHD-2-err...

    And now...

I got my CD of HP recovery and ordered a new WD 500 GB HDD... same features as the seagate who pooped me and I can't get windows install on the new HD

No matter what I do, computer wants to open the Recovery Manager and according to the available procedure does not work.  It works me in circles asking for #1 drive, then the drive recovery supplement and back with no progress.

What I have to do is use this form: http://vistahomepremium.windowsreinstall.com/installnewhdd/installnewhdd.htm but only the Recovery manager opens when I boot from the CD.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If I followed your questions correctly... you had a BIOHD-2 error, ordered HP recovery discs, replaced the hard drive and tried to restore your system with no luck. Is that a correct assessment of the situation?

OK, you need to make a Windows Vista install screen... not who's going to go with your HP recovery CD/DVD. The disks do not contain the Windows installation routine, only the HP Recovery Manager. These discs contain more or less, an image of the HP installed OS and software, plus some drivers and applications. To the best of my knowledge, you should have three DVDs (1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3/3) more an additional drive. You should boot from CD 1 of 3... Then, when asked to insert the 2/3... Then, when asked to insert 3/3. And finally if/when necessary additional drive.

  • How to run the installation on a 5 GB pcmcia hard drive, it does not start?

I have a computer dell laptop, which has a non-functional drive Bay, so I use a 5 GB kingston pcmcia hard drive. Recognizes the xp home installation cd and copy of files, only I does not start when the system is restarted, is it a boot disk to start just xp? The bios doesn't have the ability to start from pcmcia, only an ehernet PCMCIA.

Can I create a boot cd which recognises the pcmcia from the Setup disk, or add the driver pcmcia on a boot disk and which record a bootable CD?

    Hello

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Try to solve this problem together.

If I understand correctly, you are trying to install XP on a PCMCIA drive and the computer does not start after the installation files are copied during installation.

Since then trying to install XP to a PCMCIA drive and the computer does not start after the installation files are copied during installation. In addition, the BIOS has not an option to boot from PCMCIA readers. So basically, you will not be able to install XP on the PCMCIA drive.

Regarding the question on a boot disk, Microsoft provides no such discs. You will need to do a search online or in the stores of tech for such a disc, if it is available.

OK, ill be as specific as possible here

Ive always had a few hard drives in my computer at all times

A few days ago, I had problems with my windows 7 install that I tabled to the installation while I had all of my hard drives connected at installation time.

2 days ago I decided to start over fresh with a windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. I also bought a new 64gig OCZ SSD for my OS.

I disconnected all my drives except the SSD and performed a complete installation of windows 7 and all a well worked first go again.
I then started to shut down my computer and adding a hard drive to the times and re starting and in ensuring that the drive letters came back how I got them I had on my previous built and changing them were nessisary.

I installed my 5 drives in this case and the computer rebooted fine and everything was perfect until!

    installed hard drives
    1 SSD 64 GB
    2. 1.5 TB of storage
    3. 1.5 TB of storage
    4. 320 GB movies
    5. 320 GB games

I copied all HDD 4. movies (only movies and music files) on disk 3.
then I removed the hard drive of 4 and replaced by a new hard disk 1.5 TB and restarted the computer
the computer starts very well and once loaded windows I coppied the movies and music of the new 1.5 TB hard drive back.

    now, I had

    installed hard drives
    1 SSD 64 GB
    2. 1.5 TB of storage
    3. 1.5 TB of storage
    4 movies 1.5 to
    5. 320 GB games

This is were the problem started. I restarted my computer and it wouldn't start. He gets the message of realteck and just a cursor flashes and remains like that permanently.

If I remove the sata cable to the back of the hard disc 4 the computer starts fine
I can plug the cable in just before the windows screen comes up and the hard drive works fine and is FLEURIDAS and all.
but leave it plugged during the start of what the computer does nothing

things I've tried, I made sure all my boot priorities are pointing to the SSD drive
I have turned all devices normal priming and the hard drive with the OS selected
Ive made sure that all the drive letters are correct on each drive
Ive tried to get started with the windows 7 CD to get to the repair section and I click Repair tool, start it recconises there is a problem but informs me it can not be fixed automatically and asks me if I want to send the information to microsoft (which me).
