Satellite A660 - Reallouees HDD even count

I saw my disk HARD was very hot (45 c in a temperature of 30 c) and ran a program called HD tune.
To see if it was the HARD drive. He said yellow (warning) that there was a same count reallocated.
I had my HARD drive replaced only two weeks ago by toshiba due to failure (under warranty).

Is this normal or is at - it something wrong with the HARD drive? -are there a way to test myself before getting back to toshiba? -I hope that will replace that it even if its my 2nd.

Thanks a lot guys

You can test the HARD drive by using a 3rd party tool called Drive Fitness Test.
It of freeware and you helps to check the HARD drive.

I put t know the HD Tune tool, so I can't say anything about the yellow warning.
Maybe you should read the details of the software what the sign means and why it pop ups.

    Hi all
I've had the laptop for someone to look at.
The laptop model is TOSHIBA SATELLITE A660, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
This is not my laptop, I can't tell if the person has been using some software dengerous like spyware or any other, but I suppose that it is very likely.

+ WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? +
There is a problem with the HARD disk, a message all the time, SMART 'failure predicted on hard drive '. PC is running, but slow, and not always to start Windows. Has more no guarantee on the computer, the store where it was purchased no longer exists. I don't have a recovery CD and Windows is stored in the recovery partition.
The owner of the PC complained of strange noises from PC for a while, but I didn't hear myself.

    + WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR? +
I searched the forums for an answer, but I have not found.
I tried to look at the HARD drive, it is stable, not loose and seems fixed correctly.
First thing I tried was the disk check, but it wasn't even to start. When I restarted the PC once I gave a chkdsk command, there was a black screen with info, it will start the process in 10,9,8... 1 sec, he stuck to 1 sec and never begun the process. After some time I left he thinks, PC off by itself (AC adapter / CC was pulged in all time).
I tried to find the computer, I brought to the factory settings, but it did not help. The problem is always present and laptop is terribly slow. BTW, I had to try twice, once there was an error: error F3-FFCC-0006, I discovered, that the error appears when the AC adapter / CC was missing, but it is pluged in all the time.
I brought the BIOS to its factory settings, which is probably not relevant.

    + WHAT I WANT TO KNOW? +
Is there a possible way to repair the HARD drive?
OK, I agree that I probably need to buy a new HARD drive, there is only one thing I would like to know. How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD? I do purchuase CD from Microsoft? Purchuased of TOSHIBA recovery CD solve my problem?

    Thanks for any help.
I will appreciate it asap, cause this laptop is required by the owner of that an option to send the laptop to the service and wait weeks for some 'help' is not an option.

    > Is there a way to repair the HARD drive?

No, what you can do is to repair / fix the bad sectors on the HARD drive, but if there is a physical problem, it will not help

    > How can I get WIN7 installed without the CD? I know that I have the CD key and license, but how do I get the CD?

The key belongs to the image of Toshiba that I n t think that it will work to activate the system installed using MS Win 7 disc
However, you can download Windows 7 image of page Microsoft (google for it)
Then you can burn the image to disk using Nero or other burning application supporting iso burning and could use this disc to install Windows 7

Otherwise, you can order the Toshiba recover drive here:

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M: regular crashes, sometimes even before the BIOS...

    Hello

    A month ago I bought a Satellite A660 - 11 M.
I set up a dual-boot windows 7 / ubuntu 10.04 and I have lived several times a complete freeze of the system under the two BONES. In addition, after a freeze of the laptop is really difficult to restart: it freezes usually several times in a row, and most of the time there is no display at all (I don't even see lines of BIOS, or the toshiba logo).

I read several threads with the same diagnosis, and it seems to be likely to be from the power adapter.
Is there a way to be sure that it comes from him, and if so what can I do about it? If I send my computer in warranty, what are the chances that this problem is solved?

    Thank you for your response.
    Best,

    pico770

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here and what can be the reason of such behaviour of the laptop. What you need is verification by computer diagnosis and appropriate. This can only be done by the service.
    >... What are the chances that this problem is solved?
Before your laptop will be sent in return it must be tested and if everything is OK you will get it again.
Some default material, the part will be exchanged, portable will be tested again so that this problem needs to be solved.

  • Re: Hitachi Drive Fitness Test (DFT) does not detect the HDD on Satellite A660

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3C-047017 with a HARD MK6465GSX Toshiba drive. After experience, some consecutive failures of start-up, I was told on the Toshiba forums to use Drive Fitness Test (DFT of Hitachi).

I burned the ISO to a CD and booted from it (I must press F12 for boot options and select the optical drive), which is to run successfully. However, it does not detect my drive HARD - the list is empty.

Is there something I need to do to make visit to DFT?

I cannot commend this third part software features, but I want to know if you still have these failures to start your portable computer satellite?

    What's the problem?

  • Satellite A660 - format 500 GB HDD to make it bootable clone

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3C-047017 running Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit.

I bought a 500 GB Momentus XT in December so that I can clone (bootable clone, not recoverable image). I just bought and installed Norton Ghost 15, but he can't see the player, which is connected to the laptop via eSATA. Disk management says I need to initialize the disk. I can't find an explanation of what exactly the means of initialization. What is exactly?

Various discussions of the forum say contradictory things about the effect of the end of initialization (if it destroys the data):

    http://superuser.com/questions/283930/will-initializing-disk-make-data-unrecoverable

Since this is a new HARD drive, I think that I don't have to worry about that?

Choose the MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (GUID Partition Table)?

Finally, maybe it's a bit specific Seagate for another thread, but I'll put it out there in case anyone can sound. I read that the Momentus XT has some built-in intelligence to prevent degrade them performance with the limits of partition alignment issues when Advanced Format is used. He also announced an integrated intelligence keep more frequently accessed content in the part of the SDS of the HARD drive. Will one of these to be "spoiled" by the init or the wrong partition style? What formatting, is there anything to be careful?

    > I just bought and installed Norton Ghost 15, but he can't see the player, which is connected to the laptop via eSATA. Disk management says I need to initialize the disk. I can't find an explanation of what exactly the means of initialization. What is exactly?

You may need to add the SATA driver for the HARD disk.
The laptop supports the SATA controller and the SATA driver files are part of the Intel Storage Manager.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M - drive HARD recovery is not possible

    Hello.

I bought the satellite A660 - 11 M two months ago. A week before, he started to cause a problem that when turned on, boot HARD drive is not possible in the first place and boot priority option page is shown. Only after that I have reset a start command, it started.

To resolve this issue for good, I decided to format the HARD drive using the HDD recovery procedure. Unfortunately, I had to cancel this procedure after 2 minutes, and the start-up is not possible at all since then. He continues to display the message "Boot failure" etc. and staging to the BIOS screen. So, I can not access the recovery procedure even if I keep the F8 key. I am afraid that a recovery on the HARD drive partition can have been damaged due to the forced cancellation.

I have not created a DVD of my own laptop recovery, and the only option seems to buy one from Toshiba (https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx). Before you order a recovery disc, I would ask if my problem can be solved using the disc. Anyone who has experience with the recovery disc could advise me? Another question is to know if a standard warranty let me send to Toshiba ASP? Thank you for reading.

    Hello

    > Another question is to know if a standard warranty let me send to Toshiba ASP?
    Warranty only covers hardware issues.

Question you seems to be related to a software problem.
Therefore, I doubt that installation of the OS would be covered by the warranty.
You should order the recovery disk and must attempt to define the notebook back to factory settings.
Then you should check the features of the laptop.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A660 - will not start initialize drive HARD failure

    Hello
first of all thank you for your time.

    Model: Satellite A660 (PSAW3A-07U00R)

The problem started yesterday, the computer has been going slowly as a closed application, so I held the off button until the pc is turned off. When I restarded the laptop, it went to a screen saying: start windows normally or repair Windows (recommended)

When started normally it hangs just a blank screen, repair Windows recommends a system restore to a previous point that did not work. As it crashes again. I tried pressing F8 and boot in safe mode, but even once it just hangs. Then, after having repeatedly tried safe mode and another system restore the computer then hangs when I press F8. After that, the computer passes in front of the Toshiba logo with F2 and F12 options screen (which still works) and then it rises the initialization has failed then shuts off and comes with start-up bootfailed failed with a few numbers and letters, then it goes to a small box entitled menu starting with 4 options. These are some
    Toshiba MK6465GSX HDD/SSD
    CD/DVD MAST * UJ141ES ABD - CMB
    FLOPPY DRIVE
    LAN

If I press ESC, it passes through the loop of bootfailed and ends at the same screen, if I press on enter "HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX" then he quickly returned to the screen and at the bottom it says [HDD/SSD Toshiba MK6465GSX] failed.

I do not understand why it has gotten worse over time. Can anyone think why it occurred and more importantly, how can I get my pc working again? Note: held 0 then start does nothing for me atm

    Best regards, Matthew

    Hello Matthew,.

To be honest, I agree with Akuma and it could be related to a dysfunction of HDD the error you described, but ensure 100% there s no software problem, you should try the Toshiba Recovery disk Windows installation. Something may be confused until the Windows installation and recovery of files on the HARD drive, so it cannot be started. Recovery disc will resolve this problem by formatting the HARD drive and restoring the settings box.

If it still doesn t it work s hardware malfunction but an authorized service provider can solve these problems under warranty for free. So just contact the guy and ask for help. ;)

If you have other questions or already solved the problem, please let us know!

  • Satellite A660 that partitions to copy by creating bootable clone?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Surf forum discussions, it seems that Toshiba has a unique way of partitioning the hard drive for a laptop. In disk management and Table of PowerQuest Partition editor, my 640 GB HARD drive has 4 partitions:

Partition 1: Windows RE, 1.46 GB
    * ' Active', probably contains boot info
    * Not large enough to contain the Windows 7 image
    * Image of Windows 7 probably real in the score 3 or 4

    Partition 2: 559,5 GB NTFS C drive

Partition 3: 22.37 GB hidden installed file systems

Partition 4: 12.83 installed hidden GB file systems

The closest that I could find for a description of partitions 1,3,4 is http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/619983-solved-mystery-partition-toshiba-notebook.html for a system of VISTA in 2007. Partition 1 is likely to start. Partitions 3 and 4 contain a kind of recovering files for other languages.

I'll ask Technical Support on the partitions, I don't expect them to know. Even if they do, it's on the phone, that leaves me no documentation.

    (1) I was wondering if anyone can confirm (or point to the online documentation that confirms) the suspicion that precedes the goals and content of the partitions?

    (2) in addition, how can I know which partition 3 and 4 contain files of recovery for the language of the Windows 7 installation, which is English?

    (3) Finally, I intend to clone all partitions except the one containing the recovery of unused language files. This will be my first crack at the cloning or manipulation of the partitions in any way (never done a picture). This plan is sane?

The intention is for the cloned HARD drive to be a fast replacement of full boot for the source HARD drive in its entirety. I use Norton Ghost. At this point, I'm not interested by creating usable images, although I could Explorer on the road.

    > Partition 1: Windows RE, 1.46 GB
This partition is automatically created by Windows 7 this was the case even with Vista. This partition contains files that help to repair the operating system.

    > Partition 3: 22.37 GB hidden installed file systems
    > Partition 4: 12.83 hidden GB installed file systems
This partitions could contains the Toshiba HDD image it is necessary to create an own recover disc and it provides HARD disk recovery options that help to recover the laptop without the use of recovery disks.

(> 2) Furthermore, how can I know which partition 3 and 4 contain files of recovery for the language of the Windows 7 installation, which is English?

The use of Toshiba disc creator recover the image of Toshiba in order to burn the recovery disk would not require to modify the image or files manually use the preinstalled software called Toshiba recover creator to create the recovery disk

(> 3) Finally, I intend to clone all partitions except the one containing the recovery of unused language files. This will be my first crack at the cloning or manipulation of the partitions in any way (never done a picture). This plan is sane?
Why you want to clone the recovery partitions? Create the first recovery disk this disc will fix the laptop always factory settings which means that the HARD disk should be formatted and would create a new time all partitions.

  • I'm having some trouble with my Satellite A660-134

    Hello!

I'm a little ' have some problems with my laptop as mentioned earlier a Toshiba Satellite A660-134. FYI it's either, I returned a (any warranty). I wanted another, but always this model because its ok, he does his job, except some things that unfortunately I can't monitor. The first and also the other did the following:

    # Time to time, no reason what so ever, without abuse, multitasking, without forcing somehow, given bluescreen crashed unexpectedly. Just like that. Watching a movie, navigation, while leaving it open, and I found that it restarted. With this second after installing the antivirus I thought if it is stopped. But instead of 3-4 bluescreens someday I say 1-2 a week, but pretty beat also.
    # Also whithou one overheating, versatile or anything that would require a bit of effort to say, while I watch a film for example litle it sort of the stucks, freezes, stumbles... for performer like when its moved a bit abrupt and the thing protector hdd moves the head of hard disk drive... or as when with an old pc you listen to music and then when you , let's extract something, she begins to stop.

Mainly, these are my concerns and any advice is welcome. For furter information, ask me. Thank you!
    Best regards, Dorinel Tanase

It is not easy to give an exact explanation for all your problems, especially for blue screens. They can be caused by a software conflict or even by some malfunction of the equipment.
Sorry, but it is not easy to say why this happen.

Can you write down the error code and send it to us?

Try disabling the utility of HARD disk protection and do not forget to scan of the drive HARD does not run in the background. These activities may be responsible for these interruptions.

  • Satellite A660 - diagnosis of HD spin-up/down control

I got my Satellite A660 back from the shop. They replaced the HD with a high reallouees area County in a report S.M.A.R.T. and they also replace the mobo due to BSOD and NVIDIA display driver stops.

Since back them, I tried to find the source of a vibration felt at the touch pad (finger actually tingling). When I reported it to the Technical Support, they asked me to send it in their filing, what I'll do, but I was wondering if there was some kind of test, I could do before the arrival of their box. Because I don't have another machine, of course, it would help to be able to understand the case without sending it (but I can't disassemble the computer).

However, if nothing can be done about it, even if I find a probable cause, it could accelerate things if I provide information about things that seem to cause vibrations. In order to avoid possibly send in, I wonder if these vibrations are necessarily harmful (I thought specifically about the consequences long term hard disk). They thought it might. Then send it I will.

The vibration is not correlated with the fan - on time. At least not one that whirs every few seconds and causes the hot air to come out of the vent. I'm assuming that there is only one fan, based on information from a technician. I was wondering if it could be correlated with the rotation of the HD setting. Y at - it a diagnostic application that allows the user control if the disc is spinning?

As far I know this app doesn't exist, and I also think that it can be really bad idea to use it. Why?
Each of us want to have a very quiet machine, but the fact is that portable devices produces a lot of heat and material must be properly cooled.

Several sensors placed on motherboard control material temperature and activate the cooling system (fan) if necessary. In advanced settings of power there is an option where you can reduce the level of method. You can try to use it.

Anyway, if you have noticed anything on your laptop which can be defined as unusual or not normal contact service behavior and they should fix.

  • Satellite A660 - Windows 7 startup problem

Hi, I have I think the biggest problem I have ever had. I have the Toshiba Satellite A660. I have Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit (just to know.) Computer laptop freezed so I pressed to shutdown (stop) to close.

Then I tried to start it but I saw only "starting Windows" for more than an hour... When I tried to use the repair disk I saw the Green loading bar only (such as loading windows XP) but nothing happened again. So I tried to use the installation disc, but I get a "windows start" and nothing happened, even with a USB tip.

    Could someone help me?
    Thanks for all the posts.

I understand that your computer was working and running W7 64 bit.
You can or you looked in the BIOS? I don't know what you can view/change but is the HDD displayed and if memory is reported?
If you use the drive of W7 or reinstall to start the computer drive can you get to the screen install Windows and select "repair your computer". If you do not see this screen, you will need to make sure that the DVD or USB is the first boot device.

Return to this stage for more ideas or google for something like "windows command prompt repair 7.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M - how to activate WiFi?

    Hello. I have a Satellite A660 - 11 M with key features
    -Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit authentic (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Core i7-720QM processor

    WiFi:
    Compliance: Wi - Fi®
    Network support: 802.11b/g/n
    Manufacturer: Broadcom®
    Wireless technology: Wireless LAN
    Manufacturer: Broadcom®
    Wireless technology: Bluetooth® 2.1 + EDR

It works fine, but after that the children were using the machine and close I don't see the router using the wifi.

I tried the hardware switch on the strip between the keyboard and screen media and answered none of buttons; I suspect that this may be the problem.
FN F8 brings to the top of the screen of fn wifi but clicking on it will not allow it. Troubleshooting tells me to "Turn on Wireless Capability", but as stated above, the band of the media seems to be inactive. I can normally connect cable to the router.
I tried a system restore, but that did not help.

So even if I have a sinking feeling I'm missing something obvious, all thoughts before you start reloading driver wifi or reset the BIOS? If this is the recommended approach, which driver command band of media

    Thanks much for any help.

    Hey,.

The bright buttons between the keyboard and screen are controlled by added value package and if none of these keys work correctly, you must reinstall value added package. You can download this tool here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Have you checked the Device Manager If WLAN card is listed correctly? Maybe you have to update the WLAN driver because he confused s upwards. This update of the WLAN driver you will find on the page of download driver Toshiba too :)

  • What HARD drive I can use on my Satellite A660-13D?

    Hello

I'm looking for any compatible for a Toshiba SATELLITE A660-13D hard disk drive as the one inside is dead now.

This model comes with the laptop is a TOSHIBA MK6465GSX 640 GB, SATA 3 Gb/second 5400 RPM 2.6 revision

Official suppliers of Toshiba quoted me 130 euros por the same model.

I can't have such model through any other store or the internet.

There are a lot of different new TOSHIBA HDD in the market with the largest capacity and much less expensive than the MK6465GSK.

Can I install any new toshiba HDD on my SATELLITE A660-13D?

Is there any toshiba page where I can find out what toshiba HARD drive are compatible with my SATELLITE?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Fernando

What you need is 2.5 SATA HDD and it may be Toshiba but it may also be of some other manufacturers. You don't need anything special. If possible consult your dealer and they can help you choose one that suits.

Now, when you need a new HARD drive maybe you should think about upgrading with SSD. Disc SSD is much faster and use of SSD with your laptop will rapidly increase the performance of s for laptop.

More info on SSD, you can read on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite A660-1FH fails to back off with Win7 64-bit

Hi, a friend of mine asked me to watch his Satellite A660-1FH (PSAW3E). It is currently running windows 7 64 bit. There initially could not activate so I said I'd take a peek.

It just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor would appear at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze. I started and you press f2 to view the bios and the HARD drive was top of the list so I pressed f10 and saved and started. starts fine then he thought may have been an accident that has caused and continues in windows and update for him.
then rebooted and froze! It seems when the restart is selected, it does not restart, everything freezes.

I tried to use hirens resumed but it cannot see the HARD drive when it is started! weird. I got in the car and he ghosts for safety.

Earlier I installed 8 company windows x 64, and it presents the same question. the drive works fine in other pc so you need another piece of equipment. I had already updated the BIOS under win7 and checked all drivers.

I just got a strange win8 startup message saying that a boot or partition file was missing and could not start but him repressing the power button, it starts well.

It does not always restart under a clean install of win8. I came here because I found a post with the same or similar issue. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

    > it just would not start the power on, it would go beyond the initial screen then cursor appears at the top on the left and flash a couple of times and freeze

The blinking cursor appears in the upper left corner indicates a malfunction or memory from HDD. I think you should check both sides.

You said that the drive works fine in another PC. Do you hear the HARD drive?
If so, then the HARD drive is OK and the RAM is probably the troublemaker.
