  • Problem of storage space satellite L305-S5962 HARD drive when installing XP

    Hello

Last week, I ordered two TOSHIBA Satellite L305-S5962 for my children and finally happened yesterday.
I was so glad that I found all drivers XP needed for it on Toshiba USA website, however something weird happened when I went to install XP over there.

It came with preloaded Vista and while under Vista, I checked the HARD drive space it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read C 131 GB only partition.
So, if you round up to about 130 GB, where the other 90 GB's?

This problem has happened to these two Toshibas, and read the two HDD substantially the same.
In Vista, it reads close to 250 GB, but when installing XP blue screen (once I turn off the AHCI setting in BIOS) it reads at 131 GB. Is this some kind of driver issue? or to issue OS with AHCI?

On the Toshiba site there are two HARD drive drivers, are a .exe and the other a .zip file.
I tried both in the XP installation CD of nLite, but it does not help.
It still reads GB 131, so now I have no idea what to do, or maybe I have something wrong during the splicing of nLite?

In any case, if anyone has some insight on this problem, please let me know.

    Thank you!

Even once, if someone has seen, thank YOU!

    > I checked disk space HARD it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read the partition C 131 GB only.

The HARD disk is partitioned into 3 partitions.
The first partition contains OS preinstalled; Vista
The second partition contains the image of Toshiba HDD and the last third partition is hidden. It s a small partition created by Vista and it contains the backup files. These files can be used if something goes wrong with Vista OS or if Vista needs to be repaired.

So I guess you've seen only the first partition that contains the operating system Vista

  • Re: Click on Satellite A300 - noisy HARD drive - strange of sound while booting

    Hi all

I'm new and I would try to solve some problems with my new laptop * SATELLITE A300-1MZ * (with Vista) and * its hard disk * (a MHZ250BH of Fj-simens).

I noticed that he is very mechanical in the normal conditions of use, in fact, when I turn on my computer, I hear a clear rattling and his mechanic from the HDD at different times also when there should be no disk activity.
    * Particularlly every 3-5 seconds * I hear a very strange noise as a small but very distinguible mechanic "CLAC" (is not refer to number of cycle ordefrag or indexing workload). Ditto on my ubuntu LINUX distro.
    However the phone never crashes

_It first start Appareed and it's very noise_.
I would ask if this is normal... It appeared regardless of the AC or battery power source.

I just make a SMART software which is no problem, but I'm very worried about this problem.
By phone, I just say all this to the center of Toshiba in my country, but for them all right. The laptop works ok.

Not to mention that I found that * HDD * becomes * hot * also if there are no programs or processes that use it.
He begins to 29a ° - 31Â ° and it gets hot with normal use (35 ° - 36Â ° after finished booting and after 30-40 min temperature is become more warm-42a ° - 46Â °, when its average temperature is ° - 48Â ° 46a - imagine if I turn for example a virus scan or a very hot video coding software-It to become: 50a ° - 55Â °.) (I try always not to overcome this final temperature). What is the maximum?

    * I hope you can give me an explanation to the problem.*
    * I ask if this is a problem common to other A300 owners.*

For my personal reflection, that noise, it is very distinguible for a cooler quiet fan system (infact my dual core is 43a ° with normal use)
Infact I would like to find a system to enable more cool fan (I have just seen in the bios and utilities from Toshiba but found nothing to that effect)

Finally, I would like to know if the * battery time * 1h30mins (with the symmetric mode) is acceptable for a new laptop (with save mode is 1h40mins max).
    * I hope your support and I apologize for my language school *.

    Thanks y'alls.

    Hello

I think that it s nothing wrong with your HARD drive.
I have two cell phones and a PS3 at home.
The HARD drive in a laptop made similar clicking sound. In addition, I noticed the same sound in the PS3. Since the upgrade to 500GB drive HARD makes the similar sound as the HARD drive in my notebook.
I think that it s nothing wrong with the HARD drive and eventually it s nothing serious.

    > Finally, I would like to know if the battery of 1h30mins (with the symmetric mode) is acceptable for a new laptop (with save mode is 1h40mins max).
Battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
The battery lasts a shorter time when to implement applications performance on the laptop. Also if the brightness of the display is set to the highest level, the battery needed to dump a lot more quickly.
So I think 1.30 min is OK for the laptop. Of course, you can buy a stronger battery in order to use the laptop longer with battery power.

  • Satellite A105-S2071 - HARD drive problem

    Hi guys,.

I have Satellite A105-S2071 and the last time my HARD drive died so I had to Exchange and I have a problem with the HARD disk drivers.
Could you tell me what is the motherboard installed in my Satellite chip?

And when I choose Control Panel > system > device > household devices > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller > IDE channel base > avancΘs > current transfer type it shows me * does not *.

What is the reason because my computer doesn't work so well and I think that's the reason

    Thx for any answer

Detailed specifications, you can find the Toshiba site:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

However, you have an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M Chipset. The display driver contains the chipset driver.

I put t know your type of transfer does not apply.
You put the SATA mode in the BIOS to AHCI or compatible?

  • Satellite A100: UNMOUNTED_BOOT_VOLUME HARD drive problem

My A100 (XP media edition) does not start at the top is normal, safe mode (all types), the last known config as the recovery disk does not work. Error message is unmounted_boot_volume.

    Is there a solution?
is that what the recoverable data?
If the new HARD drive is purchased the recovery disk allows you to reinstall the OS?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Robbo88

As far as I know this error message appears if the HARD drive boot sector is damaged.
Usually, the new installation of the operating system should help to get rid of this problem.

If you cannot boot from the recovery CD, I would recommend the original Microsoft windows XP CD boot and start the repair console. Here, you can use the fixmbr command to repair the boot sector.

Of course, this problem can be caused by a HARD disk failure.
In this case, the HARD drive must be replaced.

  • Satellite M105 - replacement hard drive capacity problem

Hello, I recently installed a new hard drive of 320 GB (Seagate Momentus ST9320421AS) in my Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041 laptop to replace the original 80 GB drive.

I use Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the latest firmware (v2.90).

However, the new drive is restricted in some way to only about 130 GB.

The size is not reported in the BIOS, just the model number of the drive. Utility disk management Windows reports the size as: go 127,81 and using a Live CD of Ubuntu Linux and Seagate Seatools reports also this drive must be about 130GB.

So, I think that it is a BIOS or hardware problem. Can do something to allow me to use the full capacity of this disc?

    Help, please. Thank you.

As far as I know that some specialists PC uses special tools to manipulate of the BIOS and the ability of the entire HARD disk can be used. But I really don t know what you can do.
In my opinion, you need to use maximum supported HARD drive, but if you need more capacity for private data, you must use an external 2.5 HDD.

Friend of mine has bought yesterday 400 GB 2.5 for 99 Euros only. It's a really good investment.

  • Satellite 4010 CDT - hard drive problems

I have a HDD MK3018GAP, which I use in a USB caddy as a secondary drive for my XP desktop.

Now, I want to use it as primary disk in my laptop of CDT 4010, but it does not recognize.

I also tried to get my win98 desktop to read it via the USB enclosure but it does not recognize it either.

I guess I may need reformatting Win98 but don't know how to do this when my office win98 does not recognize.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

As far as I know, this unit was delivered with a HARD of GB 4.1 and your HDD has MK3018GAP of 30 GB disk.
Well, as Tom, said it could be a problem of recognition of the BIOS because of the large size of HARD drive.

  • Satellite C665D - the second time the same problem HARD drive.

I have a laptop C665D. Eight months after I buy, I had hard drive problem (reallocated sector count-> value about 2000!).
So I send to the service and got with the new hard drive.

And now, after 7 months, but I have the same problem, (down hard drive).

My question is why this happens two times, this same defect?
    Anyone had this same problem?
Is a problem with this series of laptops?
Can I do something to avoid damage to the next (third) disc?

    Thanks for any help.

    > So my question is why this happens two times, this same defect?

Any HARD drive is going to die sooner or later, the HARD drive is not reusable part.
Read and write data to the HARD disk would cause the head moving in many cases, the disk dies because of the head crash.
Moving the laptop while the disk is in use would affect the functionality of the HARD drive.

On my laptop I have a utility called installed HARD disk protection tool.
HDD Protection detects the vibrations, shocks and similar signs in the PC and the disk head moves automatically to a safe position to reduce the risk of damage that might be caused by the contact of the head-to-disk.

Advise to use such tool too

By the way: HARD drive problems have nothing to do with the series of laptop

  • Satellite P200 - extra hard drive problem

When I bought my laptop the advisor at importers told me I could get an adapter so that I could put the second drive in my laptop but now when I want to get the adapter and another player, they want to charge me about a 3rd of the price of what I paid for the laptop! And I pay dealer prices goods... All seems like hold up for me! Especially seeing that we all know the price of hard drives is so low!

Can anyone help with a part number, or the details of this adapter so that I can order from abroad or find on ebay or something?

    Hello

I put t know which adapter you are which means exactly, but if you want to use a second HD in this notebook, then you should check first if the second HARD drive bay contains the necessary HARD drive connector.

You should know that not all laptops can be improved with the second HARD disk, even if the second HARD drive Bay is available!

Then remove the second Bay and check if there is a HARD drive connector!

  • Satellite L650 won't drive/USB boot

    Hi all

Currently, I am trying to upgrade my Windows 7 32bits Satellite L650 PSK1JA-0ED017 for windows 7 64 bit.

I created a bootable USB device and borrowed a friend installation disc, and both do the same thing. When I try to boot from them, I see the Toshiba page, then "Windows is loading files ' with a bar grey that fills, and then it goes to the page"Starting Windows"for about 2 seconds before restarting.

I saw some posts of the forum in which people with Satellites from Windows 8 for Windows 7 will need to disable UEFI to make this work, however my BIOS got no option to disable startup secure or activating / deactivating UEFI/CSM. I updated the BIOS to the most recent update (Insyde 2.40) but that made no difference.

I can always start the computer normally using my HARD drive, however the whole point of this exercise was to leave with more RAM and an SSD, which is currently sitting useless on my desk.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

The Satellite L650 contains no UEFI and secure in the BIOS startup option because this laptop from t a Windows 8 isn't. It not was not pre-installed with Win 8 and, therefore, these special
Win 8 options in the BIOS are not available.

I think that there is a problem with the USB bootable device. Maybe you made a mistake when creating the boot device.

On the other hand, it could also be a problem with the lack of SATA driver. In some cases of Win 7 Setup does not recognize the HARD drive and this requires a SATA driver

  • Satellite L650 - 15G - HARD drive starts after 10 to 15 seconds

    Hi my dear,
    Please can someone help,

I have my Satellite L650 - 15G, I bought 10/01/2010. I have a problem that occurs only with the battery, when I press the power button, I hear the fan starting, lamp wireless, then the lamp light power but not the lamp of HDD, 2 to 3 seconds the laptop closed. If I pressed the power button / stop again after that or I pressed again while the light from the lamp of the hard drive and it will start normally. This never happen when I connect the charger with the battery or when I use it with the adapter only.

I changed the battery of the Toshiba, but no way. I changed the power management, made adjustments in power management bios (version 1.8 after I updated), disable, enable certain features in Device Manager but no way.

The more strange that many times it starts normal and other times it does so. Also, this may manifest itself sometimes in long boot times, which means that I sometimes hear fan, see wirless, power lights up and after 10-15 seconds, the hard drive turns on and starts.

    Hello

And that said the guys from the Toshiba warranty Center that could be? Is it a hardware problem or not?

To be honest it is really hard to say something about it, but at the moment for me, it looks like a HARD drive or motherboard problem.

Did you also load default settings in the BIOS after update?
