Satellite C70 - A - upgrade Windows caused 10 black screen

Hi all
I have a Toshiba Satellite C 70 and have recently upgraded to Windows 10. It went well

, but the next update caused my screen to go empty.

I checked all the equipment and materials - all OK.

I have downgraded to Windows 8.1 - no change

Having hooked up to an external monitor (my TV) - hey all presto, it's here.

I have reset to factory settings - no change.

I updated the Intel graphics driver - no change.

I checked for Lucid MVU - not installed.

I've updated the video driver - no change.

I checked the brightness, etc-all good.

It is common to the screen image (not even safe mode, or a mouse) on the laptop screen.

I searched forums after forums, but without success. Please can someone advise if this is fixable and if so, how?

Thanks in advance

  • I've had my laptop for a year, and it is currently running Windows 7 Professional. I recently had a problem that causes the black screen

I've had my laptop for a year, and it is currently running Windows 7 Professional. I recently had a problem that causes the black screen randomly with the screen turned on (I mean everything is black and I can't see a thing, but can still see the light of the LCD screen). This often happens when I open/close a window, browsers web example, the records, or even during the boot. I want to know how to solve this problem and if the upgrade to Windows 10 works for her.

    Hi Haolin,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I do not understand that the screen goes black randomly, and I'll be happy to answer your query. Let me ask you;

    • What is the brand and model of the computer?
    • Remember to no particular change in the computer before the show?
    • When was the last time it worked?

Video card problems are the most common cause of this problem.

Try the following troubleshooting procedures in the order. If the steps described in the first procedure does not resolve the problem, continue to the next procedure.

Step 1: Reinstall your video driver

    1. Right click on the bar tasks and then click Start Task Manager.

    2. Click on the processes tab, click explorer.exe, and then click end process.

    3. Click file, and then click new task (run).

    4. In the text box open, type explorer.exe, and then click OK.

    5. Click on the Start button , go into the Device Manager in the start search box, and then, in the search results, click on the peripheral Manager.
    6. Double-click on display the cards, right click the display device, click Update driver software, and then follow the steps in the wizard that appears. You can also visit the website of the manufacturer of the computer support and install the latest available graphics cards for the same model of computer you have.

Note: After the driver is re-installed, you may need to restart your computer to complete the installation. You may also need to adjust the resolution of the display to its previous value. For more information, see change your screen resolution.

Step 2: Search for registry problems

    1. Right click on the bar tasks and then click Start Task Manager.

    2. Click on the processes tab, click explorer.exe, and then click end process.

    3. Click fileand then click new task (run)

In the text box open, type explorer.exe, and then click OK.

    4. Click on the Start button , type regedit in the search box, and then, in the search results, click on regedit.exe.
    5. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    6. Click to select the WinLogon key and then in the right pane, click on Shell. The value of shell in the data column must be explorer.exe. If the value of Shell is not explorer.exe, double-click Shell, and then, in the value data text box, type explorer.exe, and then click OK.

    7. Close the registry editor and restart your PC.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

If this procedure resolves the issue, you are finished. If this is not the case, proceed to the next set of steps.

Step 3: Start the computer in safe mode and run system restore

    1. Click on the Start button , click the arrow next to Shut Down, and then click restart.
    2. Do one of the following:

      • If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

      • If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. In the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press enter.

    4. Log your computer with a user account with administrator rights. When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of your screen.

    5. Click on the Start button , type "System Restore" in the search box, click System Restore, and then click Next. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    6. Choose a restore point when your PC worked as expected, click Next, and then click Finish.

    7. Restart your computer normally.

Important: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed after this date are deleted.

If these steps resolve the issue, you are finished. If not, try to repeat the steps and chooses an older restore point (if available). If that does not resolve the problem, contact your computer manufacturer or the technical support for further assistance.

  • Windows 7 Pro black screen with cursor on all modes and no login screen

OK so basically, it's how, my laptop decided to me-screw right when I need to make some adjustments to my final project for next week.

Friday he started very well in class and at the end of the course at 6:30, I stopped him. I normally don't that often stopped because I usually find myself opening upward in an hour later. But I did this time and when I got home and turned on around 9:00, it started like this:

Screen Compaq PhoenixBIOS > Windows boot animation > black screen with cursor mobile, no login screen

No screen connection. No sound. Not nothing but a black screen and the cursor movement. So I force shutdown and turned it back, this time he asked a chkdsk and I ran it. A ton of stuff file unreadable came and it took all night to run through it all. Tried to start again and Windows Error Recovery came and I tried all Modes of security and start normally and all produce the same black screen and the cursor with no login screen.

Then I used my Windows 7 dvd repair to try and system restore to a week before. That's where I noticed that windows had installed a critical update at 12:00 on Friday. Tried to restore before that, but he failed. Gave me an error 0 x 80070057 and said I should run chkdsk /r and then try again. Then I used the cmd prompt through dvd repair and he has seen all these things wrong file again once recovered things then realized hours later. Tried to restore the system again. Still the same error. A run chkdsk again through the cmd prompt, then he went to clean without errors or orphaned files or anything, but it took a lot of time. I used the Startup Repair, and he has not found anything wrong either. But still the same error the system restore.

So I looked around online for the last two days, trying to figure out and that someone said to try CTRL + Alt + Delete, the sticky shift key thing. So I tried to boot the system again, same black screen with cursor movement. I did CTRL + Alt + Delete, nothing. Press and hold the SHIFT key, and a pop-up window asked FilterKeys. Press the SHIFT key 5 times, a popup asked about sticky keys. But that's all I can get it to do. Nothing else. I tried to boot into safe mode with F8, chose, each of them and that changes in screen resolution and the words "safe mode" in all the corners of the screen. If the repair dvd's while I start in safe mode, it will open as well in safe mode, but with the same black background mode. Tried running sfc/scannow through repair invites cmd of the dvd and it says a system repair is pending and he had to restart, and then run the sfc/scannow. Tried, but it doesn't do anything when I restart except go to Windows Error Recovery asking either start in any safe mode or normally. And then it's just black screen again.

So I am at a complete loss what to do now. After all of this mess, it seems that this Windows Update Friday afternoon did something and when I booted it upward once again, his cause nothing but problems. I think it has something to do with the display and the graphics card drivers? It's as if the thing starts but I do not see anything either because the sticky keys appears, but sees nothing else, no matter what I do. Seriously, I don't want to this junk because this is a new hard drive and I was just able to retrieve my files from my old hard drive that had epic failures as well. And I just got this new specifications I wanted as well.

    Laptop Spec:

    Compaq CQ50-115nr
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
HARD drive: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320 GB SATA WD3200BEVT
    Processor: AMD Turion X 2 RM-70
    Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200 M G
    Memory: 3 GB RAM

If someone could seriously help me I would be VERY happy.

    Hello

    This isn't good news.

    --------------------

    STOP: 0XC000021A

Can be a difficult problem to solve, and you indeed need a technical help in a real store of the computer
(not the leeks and the glances at a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or system manufacturer support.

    Cause

This error occurs when a subsystem of mode user, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), irremediably compromised and security can not be guaranteed. In response, the operating system goes into kernel mode. Microsoft Windows cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, it is one of the rare cases where the failure of a user mode service can stop the system.

Incompatible system files can also cause this error. This can happen if you restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs may skip restoring system files which they determine are in use.

    Solve the problem

Run the kernel debugger is not useful in this situation because the error occurred in a user mode process.

Resolve an error in the user-mode device driver or system, third-party application service: Because the bug 0xC000021A control occurs in a user mode process, the most common culprits are third-party applications. If the error occurred after the installation of the new or updated device driver or service system, third-party applications, the new software should be removed or disabled. Contact the manufacturer of the software on a possible update.

If the error occurs during the system startup, restart your computer, and then press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the Windows Advanced Options menu that results, select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time. If the error is not resolved, try to manually remove the offending software. If the system partition is formatted with the (FAT) file allocation table, use a MS-DOS boot disk to access the hard disk of the computer. If the system partition is formatted with the NTFS file system, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or remove the defective software. If the defective software is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file. If a room newly installed if material is suspected, remove it to see if that fixes the problem.

Try running the emergency recovery disk (ERD) and allow the system to repair any errors that it detects.

Solve a problem of file system do not match: If you have recently restored your hard disk from a backup, check if there is an updated version of the backup/restore program available from the manufacturer. Make sure that the latest Windows Service Pack is installed.

  • Windows Resume Loader black screen on HP Pavilion dv4-2145 dx laptop Windows 7

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-2145 dx laptop with Windows 7. After pressing the button "on", the logo operation windows says its "recovery" windows, but a black screen titled "Windows Resume Loader" appears with the following message:

The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to resume again?

    With the 2 following options:

    1. continue with system summary, (which does not work and I end up with the resumption of the "Windows" followed a blank black screen...)

2 Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu (I haven't ' truei stops because I wasn't sure what that meant)

But I managed to go to the reviews section diagnostic systems and it seems that he pass all 5 of the test, including hard drive and memory, poster, etc. So I don't know what the problem...

    Please notify.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

I think that in this case, you will have to choose the second option - "Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu" and see if that fixes the problem.  If all etc. documents you had open before hibernation were saved, then you should not lose anything.  If there are unsaved changes (for example if you have added to a document), the file will be to the point that his last record and you lose additional data.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - 13 m - boot problem: black screen with 3 beeps

    Hello

Satellite Pro P300 - 13 m, I bought a few weeks ago and in time, I had about 5 - 6 times the same rear screen when I tried to start the system. When he does this notebook gives 3 loud beeps (not sure what that actually means).

When he does this I have to press the power button for 5 seconds and after several times doing this that it will show the Welcome screen toshiba... then sometimes it will automatically restart again and I get this annoying black screen again. Most of the time when I wait about 10 minutes and try to do as well the system starts as usual... Yes... very strange thing here.

To be honest, I don't want to send the laptop for Toshiba once again, as I could use for my business...

Then. What could this be? I've already updated the latest version of the BIOS.

    Thnx in advance

What operating system do you use?
Have you noticed that on the first day?
Your laptop is placed correctly on the desktop without cooling vents?
When you start Notepad you see every time that Toshiba welcome screen?

    Well, try this work around:

You can also check if one of the memory modules may cause this
In this case, you must remove a module and must test the laptop using a module in each slot

  • Re: Satellite A100-011 does not start, a black screen at the beginning

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-011, which is almost 5-6 years. It suddenly started to behave abnormal.

First of all, I started to get a 1-2 sec black screen when he was running. The screen was on and off occasionally.

After a few days, I could not started upward from my windows xp sp3 operating system. I tried to start in safe mode with networking to see if I had a few spy, virus or something. I ran avast, hijact, ad-aware and some more, but not found anything.

Later, I tried to format my laptop with a xp professional, but this time I can't see any reflection that passes more fun running and a black screen. I just got a black screen at the beginning and it does not start.

I plugged on a television screen, and here I have started. I have re-installed all the drivers and formatted, but all I get is a black screen on my laptop at the beginning.

What should I do now? Do you think I have a problem with my screen of HW or a driver problem with nvidia geforce go 7600? Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

If you can see the picture on the TV there are a few s laptop display problem. Y at - it some problem connection or display itself.

You want to fix it yourself? You can disassemble the laptop?
I mean if you have any experience with this kind of things that you should seek professional help.

  • Satellite M70 - 350 - recovery disk stopped with black screen

    Hello

I tried my laptop with the original recovery CD or DVD recovery. He just stopped with the black screen and the error message.

After that, I tried the advanced recovery mode. By selecting the ghost Image, which gave me the Image corrupt error.

Weird enough even installing from an original CD of Windows fails. With that before even I can select something, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor. Appers whil the windows cd is loading drivers.
At the bottom of the screen, there are that many drivers listed one after the other. The last thing mentioned here before the blinking cursor is Partition NTFS.

Cause the original recovery disc has already deleted all the contend on the laptop it's usless now.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

I also think that there is a problem with the HARD drive.
If possible, try to get a new one and try installing the OS using recovery media again.

Do you use DVDs of recovery for the first time?

  • Windows XP Home, black screen after loading screen (seemingly unique problem)

    Hi all

I am trying to upgrade to service pack 3 Windows XP home on my old computer from eMachines T2838 and experiences a @# *! a time to do it. This is the third time in 2 days I had to wipe my HD and re - install XP, because of some problem installing updates which has damaged the operating system.

    Here's my current situation.

Yesterday, after the failure of the HD for the second time (computer got stuck "performing cleanup" on SP2, forced a reboot, got a restart loop after, would not load Windows) I installed XP, update to SP2, then downloaded the service pack real itself. He has installed fine and asked me to restart.  I respected that, and the computer restarted. As soon as the "Loading" screen popped up, I knew that something had gone wrong.  When I started on the desk, I was stuck in 640 x 480 w / 4 - bit color graphics mode. Could not be set. So, I thought, okay, let me reboot Windows and see if he "rediscovered" the integrated video card. Well, I restarted, and the "loading screen jumped into the appropriate color mode / resolution, so I thought that I was in the green."  Well, after that, all I get is a black screen. No message 'No signal!' or anything like that.  Even tried a few instructors that I have. Looked around online, has seen the references to "Last known good Configuration" 'safe Mode' etc etc.

I tried all the options on the list of F8. Either she freezes at Mup.sys xxxxxx or boots up to the loading screen and then goes black after. I can hear the HDD does it's thing for a bit, so I don't know it is loading this screen "check to activate the automatic updates" which appears after SP2 is installed, but I can't.

Use the recovery console, (did the repair option the first time after it kept restarting, Windows took 5 minutes to start an IE6 get locked every opening, so had to wipe and re-install) typed "chkdsk/p/r" and he did his thing for about 30 minutes, rebooted and still have the same problem.

I don't know what else to do. I REALLY want to redo everything this a fourth time, only to to have screw it up once again, and I don't know how many times I can use the key I have on the back of the computer.  (Using a retail disk and an OEM key, Finder product key changer.) -A Microsoft Support Officer showed me that one. Quite handy.

People do you have any suggestions?  I would really appreciate it.

The BIOS and drivers for older models of laptops are in the area to carry out the download page for the driver (in the product Type click Archive).
But to be honest, that I think that something is wrong with the BIOS EPROM module.
Firstly the laptop must turns on and works properly even if the BIOS isn't up-to-date. In addition, the EPROM module cannot be corrupted in case you do not flash this module using BIOS incorrect or is not compatible.

In my opinion, the issue may be related to any part connected to the motherboard: possible troublemakers could be RAM, CPU, GPU, as well as the motherboard.

I guess you will need extra help laptop computer technician in order to locate the hardware failure.

    Hey,.

If the webcam shows just a blank screen, I could imagine it's just a setting incorrect webcam.

On the Web from Toshiba site, I found a helpful article that I think:
[How to change the settings for the built-in webcam If the image is very dark or black? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=59]

  • Portege 7220 and windows 98. Black screen installation

    Hello

I am facing this problem when I try to install win98 on the machine above Portege 7220 (/ PIII650/64/12/13 t/M), following on its docking station...

I boot from a floppy disk and cd rom (e:\) access in order to run the installer of windows 98SE. Once I typed e:\setup.exe I get a black screen and the computer crashes. However I can install windows NT or 2000 on this machine, and also the windows 98SE cd works ok on other computers, i.e. no black screen!

No idea what is the problem?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bar

    Hi Bar

Please do not be angry on me, but I have to ask you something. Did you use Win98SE full version or simply update CD for Win98?

It may be that your CD is scratched! Then please try another new CD or another OS as W2k!

  • HP ENVY 15: WiDi on Windows 10 gives black screen.

Attempted to connect a TV to my desire to 15 through a Microsoft display adapter, but only get a black screen when connected.

Product envy num is L0L25PA #ABG.

Microsoft display adapter model is 1628 with new firmware from 1.3.8220.

    Intel (r) worm 6.0.40.0 WiDi.

The MS display adapter has the latest Miracast driver see 10.0.10240.16394 downloads of Microsoft.

The display adapter brings up a ready-to-connect "display in 1080 p with a black background.

Once connected, the laptop says it is "connected to the MS display adapter" and the TV goes black.

This dual-screen development. The TV becomes a kind of signal from the WiDi, but this isn't a "screen" as with no. signal the TV is blue. "

So I'm not sending ether does not correct data to the Member States display adapter or the adapter is not properly translated.

The adapter has accepted an update for it via the WiDi who ran ok. All the screen during the update wasn't on the portable TV.

Can do all the right things on the TV with an HDMI cable.

Is there a fix for this or I have to wait while the MS, Intel, HP sorting?

    Windows 10 is fully updated.

The MS display adapter was not winning in 8.1.

    DAY FOLLOWING.

Found an update of the driver Intel(r) HD Graphics 5500. The Intel verification app update does not pick up this one, I found it when checking the drivers in Device Manager.

I can now get a projection, but it's a bit and on everything when he wants to work. Once it starts, it is good, all that either with a slight flicker/stutters when the video display on the TV. Sometimes it takes a reset of the ILO and a new attempt so he could start as for the moment, to the extent where I wonder if there is a hardware problem BOUNCING temperature with Member States display adapter.

Having found a reset button on the adapter has helped.

    Another tomorrow.

I found that my problem is the TV I use for my screen, a cheap 32 in Vivo that works very well on an HDMI cable. It of very subject bar she receives MS card or not.

Everything is good when it goes, but you cannot change modes of projection etc without him dropping to and then once that happens it is very difficult to make it show again.

I found this when I could try a Samsung which worked perfectly. Can change the mode, connect and disconect as much as I like without any problem.

Thanks for the help HP forum,

I hope this will help others who have a similar problem.

How can I say that it is resolved?

Sorry SDF15, I give you a little nudge upwards or one solved as long as you did not help at all.

Even your suggestion to show how to mark your question as resolved does not apply in this case that you does not solve the problem.  I did and does the option solved on the original post. If I can do this response, I.
