Satellite C70D - how to start from the DVD

Hello
You just bought a Satellite C70D with Win 8.1. Everything works (as much as I know to knowledge), except start it from the DVD. I disabled the Secure Boot in the bios and changed the boot order on a DVD first, then USB and HARD drive. The DVD player starts, but then it jumps on the HARD disk and Windows is started. First time I tried there was a message like "DVD boot not supported" or something like that.
The DVD is bootable, so it's not the problem.
I want to install Linux Mint alongside Windows.
Someone has already solved this problem?

Update: changing of UEFI CMS in the Advanced BIOS tab at the start of the DVD, but Windows no longer starts. Is it possible to boot from DVDE and still be able to start Windows as well?

    My laptop is Satellite 2400.

    Hello

I got this Toshiba FAQ document on the startup form of the PCMCIA reader.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ35005G002KR01.htm
This article describes a seed on a protected unit but it s useful and you should check it out.

In addition, you can check in the BIOS the option PC card. Try to change the mode of the CCIP Compatible controller or CardBus/16 bit and tries to start again the PCMCIA card.
To change these settings, first change the configuration of device for all devices

  • Satellite C660 don't start from the HDDs or recovery

    Hi people,

Post this question for my neighbor, as there is now no internet access as mobile does not not - Satellite C660 running Win7.

In the event of power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

Tried to boot from the DVD of Win7 (you press F12 for boot & changed options on DVD), can hear the reader tries to access the dvd but then get the message 'impossible '. DVD of Win7 works in my laptop and desktop pc computer.

    Any ideas.

    Thank you

    Nigel

    > When the power he gets the Toshiba screen then a white screen with the cursor at the top left flashing.

    Possibly the HARD drive died.
That try you to the power of the unit and press F2
Now you should be able to access the BIOS.

If the disk HARD isn t appearing on the first page of the BIOS, this means that HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS, which means that the HARD drive is faulty.

Immediately after starting the laptop, press the F12 key.

  • Satellite A40: Question about upgrade from the DVD UJ-850

    Hello

I have a satellite A40, I recently installed a new motherboard to. Everything now works perfectly, and I plan to change the CDRW/DVD drive to a dvd burner.

The current player is a panasonic-UJDA750. I intend to replace it with a UJ-850 for the dvd burner. Could someone please advise whether it is a good drive to go to any other suggestion and if I need different drivers for the drive to work or is it just a straight swap out.

    See you soon,.

    Hello

Before you buy a slim drive you must be sure that this drive is compatible with the Satellite A40.
There is a big difference between external drives for desktop PCs and laptops.
The master/slave/c-salt settings on slim drives are fixed and cannot be changed.

If you buy a slim with wrong settings drive, the BIOS does not recognize the drive and you'll get an error IDE #1.

I recommend that you contact the service provider allowed in your country and ask guys for compatible DVD burner for you A40.

As a reader of DVD-R/RW compatible, you can use the Toshiba SD-R6112 or drive Pioneer G8CC0001L810 drive.
I also found some readers of DVD-Multi (CD-R/RW DVD-RAM/R/RW) compatible:
    Panasonic G8CC00019810
    TEAC G8CC00013810

Sorry for the strange number, but I guess these are the numbers of Toshiba.
Try google. You may find a full name.

  • Pavilion TouchSmart PC 20-f323, how to boot from a DVD?

My client has a 20-f323 HP Pavilion TouchSmart PC with Windows 8 on it and wants to downgrade and install Windows 7 Pro instead.

However, my first question is, how to start my Windows 7 Pro DVD on the TouchSmart PC?  I can not even find a boot menu option to start from the DVD drive.

All other URL on this upgrade process below would be appreciated!

I thank very you much for your time.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You can buy a new copy of Windows 7 with a valid COA and the product key.

The screenshots below is from a notebook HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install from a USB key and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '. This should clear up the CD/DVD device is missing.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

    From the top...

    (1) turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (2) when the MENU is displayed, press "F10".

    3) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", 'USB 3.0 pré-OS Config' and the value 'Auto '.

    4) navigate the BIOS to the "System Configuration", "Startup Options" and "Secure Boot" the value 'Legacy Support' the value "Enabled" and "Disabled"

    5) press "F10" and click "YES" to "Exit Saving Changes".

    (6) computer should restart and display "Change of operating system startup Mode"... type the four digit code, then press "ENTER".

    (7) let Windows 8 boot to the top and put the Windows 7 SP1media in the drive to DVD or a USB port, then logout / stop.

    (8) to turn on the computer and immediately start typing the key "ESC".

    (9) when the MENU is displayed, press the key "F9" and then select the correct boot UEFI source (CD/DVD drive internal, USB drive, CD/DVD, USB Flash drive, etc.). ... Press any key to start the CD/DVD, if prompted.

    (10) select "Language", "time / currency ' and 'Keyboard' settings and then click"Next ".

    11) click on 'install now '... Check "Accept terms" and click "next". Click on "Custom (Advanced)".

    (12) you may need to provide AMD SATA/RAID drivers at the moment... Download AMD Chipset Drivers (Chipset / AHCI / USB 3.0)

    (13) ' where do you want to install Windows 7? Select "Disk / Partition" with "Unallocated space", you created earlier, and then click "next".

    (14) follow all instructions and meet the need. Enter the Windows 7 key when asked.

Please post the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (text only) for all remaining missing or unknown devices, as shown in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Please click the 'Thumbs Up' white LAURELS to show your appreciation

  • Satellite A100: Does not start a recovery DVDs

    Hi guys.
    First timer here.
I have read some of the Q & A on reboot problems the A100 since the recovery DVDs.
It seems I have the same problems as keith.

I want to start all over again the OS and my laptop does not start from the DVD.
Tried the standard f12 boot from cd option. tried her "hold C on the boot option.
Both options end with no joy.

The screen that says "loading ramdisk image", loads the machine breaks, asks me to wait, then every time the same thing.
The screen goes black, flashes very quickly and white and then loads from the hard disk as normal.

Now try to hold my frustration and do something radical.
I know that in the Q & A previous, the subject is considered as replied...
    other options?

My following thoughts are to delete/uninstall almost every thing and try and force the thing to boot from the DVD.
have also copied the dvd and tried to boot from the copy, always with no joy.

    Are there any other suggestions?

Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?

is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?

is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?

    see you soon,
    Martin

    Hello Martin

To be honest, it's pretty strange question. There is one thing I am interesting for:
Is - this first time, you try to use a recovery media for the installation of the OS?

If possible, try to get the Microsoft CD/DVD facilities to see if the same thing will happen.

In any case, I will try to give you answers to your questions.
    > Is it possible to put a partition in the existing drive and to start the recovery dvd in there, then delete the junk of the original section of the drive, and then delete the partition?
It will not work. On the recovery of the media it is recovery image and this image must be installed correctly. You cannot "recover DVD in there. Not question

    > is it possible to close all essential processes and format the HARD drive?
I would like to know what you understand under the 'essential processes?

    > Is it possible to reset the HARD drive somehow?
You can't do this somehow. If you want to 'reset' HARD drive, you must delete the existing partition or delete any OS installation. After having done that, you need to install new OS. All this will be done at the beginning of the recovery procedure.

I really don't understand what's wrong there. Please answer to my first question, and we will continue this discussion. ;)

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

  • every time I try to load it from the DVD the error appears as: "the application could not be started because SPWIZENG.» DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »

Hi, I got a cd of Windows 7 from my friend who is a software engineer so he gets all the programs (operating systems). It burned in a DVD instead of CD. So, every time I try to load from the DVD the error appears as:

«The application failed to start because SPWIZENG.» DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. »

Then when I click ok, it says:

The file 'Autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue.

Help, please. I'm not good with computers and I honestly don't know what to do.

    Thanks in advance,

    :)

    Hello

Are you able to play or open other CD or DVD?

Step 1: These error messages may be due to corrupted media. Try to use the same media on another computer and check if you are able to use it.

Step 2: Search for the issue in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
