Satellite L - no power from the power cycle hard!

Hi guys,.

I hope you can help me, I have problems with my keyboard on my laptop, when I typed nothing was happening. So I read on the internet by Toshiba for 'hard reset' laptop.

I followed this procedure;
(1) remove the battery
(2) button for 30 seconds
(3) input AC adapter
(4) battery put back in
(5) turn on the monitor.

Now since I made, I have no power at all going to the laptop? Although I had power before? I tried the adapter/battery in a laptop the same and both work very well.

I have even not all LED lights! :(

I hope someone can help, thanks in advance.

Repeat the process once more (try up to 4 times in the line)

  1. Disconnect the power adapter
  2. remove the battery
  3. Press and hold the power 30-40 sec long button
  4. Reinsert the battery
  5. Plug the power adapter
  6. Press the power button / stop

If that does not help, contact Toshiba ASP for verification of material Diagnostics.

  • How can I configure Satellite A300-148 boot from the recovery partition?

    Hello

I had some problems when trying to install MAC - OSX, for her, where the partition table is deleted, then I retrieve the entire score as it is, but I can not start in any case.
Then I decide temproraly install another copy of vista drive Vista (not the partition), then set up my laptop to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall the good copy.
My problem is, it's all here, the only problem is, I need to configure the system to boot from the recovery partition.

    My device is:
    Satellite A300-148

    Thanks to the device.

    Hello

If you have already changed the partitions of HARD drive and deleted files from the HARD disk, then your HARD drive recovery is too bad!

But to make sure that the HARD drive recovery is not possible please press F8 immediately after the power of the laptop. Usually a start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the option called fix my computer. Then you should be able to choose recovery option.

But like I said that this is only possible if your HARD drive was not formatted!

If you have formatted the HARD drive and changed partitions then you will need a Toshiba DVD recovery that you have not because you didn t he create at the beginning. Is this good? Well, then you must order the recovery DVDs if you want to retrieve the laptop to factory settings.

  • Satellite A10: Cannot boot from the recovery CD after the replacement of the motherboard

Heres one in your brain is going...

I recently started a format hard drive via the normal recovery CD, but it never finished as long as the power cut.

Not to worry I thought, I kept all my data and a new motherboard was on order.

The fitting of the new Council, I tried to boot from the recovery disc and all I get is 'non-system disk '.

Then I replaced the HARD drive with a former to check the functionality of the Cd. The old disks (I tried two) both still booted from the cd and their HDs has worked fine once in windows.

    However...

When I try to start any of these 'good' HDs from the cd nothing happens, nada zilch. In fact they will not start even to a 'Beginner PC' recovery disk either, so it's not the Toshy recovery disk.

Another weird thing is when I go into the bios by pressing ESC the power upward and then F1 and try to change the boot sequence and press end to exit and save, nothing happens.

If the CD is not defective because it is recognized in windows
The recovery disks may not be at fault because the other disks also fail to start.

This is not a drive problem hard as other HDs start normally (but not Cd)

This could be a fault on the new motherboard, perhaps a problem with bios, or the sequence of events suggests something else?

    Any suggestions would be welcome

    Hello

Long story. In my opinion you should write is a little shorter but with more useful information.
I am interested in one thing: have you got a new mainboard or used one?

To be honest, I'm also confused with the recovery disc you are using. The history is confusing.

    > so this isn't the Toshy recovery disk.
Can you please tell us what kind of recovery CD are you using exactly?

  • Satellite A100-998: Clunks from the HARD disk in just 2 months old

This laptop has just started to make a rattle almost constant light, awkward - probably from the hard drive. No difference to the power of battery or sector. The noise is not related to the DVD at all drive. Moreover, the performance of the computer were normal.

Should I seek attention warranty for ths noise or as pixel screen died strange, it's something I have to learn to live with that?

    Thank you.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should contact the service authorized in your country partner and clarify the situation. If there is something wrong with the HARD drive you will get a new.

  • Satellite A105 boot up from the HARD drive, no floppy drive or CD-ROM

Even after C - MOS set up, system boot from HDD, no floppy drive, or a CD-ROM.

Is there a specific setting to set these controls in the model of Satellite A-105?

    Hello

Do you mean an external floppy drive and external drive CD-ROM or one which is integrated?

If you want to boot from the internal CD-rom drive if you have 3 possibilities.

    1. change the boot order in the BIOS to CD player
    2. by pressing the C key immediately after starting the laptop
    3. by pressing the F12 key immediately after your laptop to go and choose the CD drive

I think you should also be sure that you want to boot from the bootable CD.
If the CD is not bootable you will not be able to boot from the drive.

PS: If you want to boot from the floppy drive you can press on instead of the C button U key

  • Satellite M40 - cannot boot from the recovery cd after format HARD drive

    Hello

After my Satellite M40 - 133 being affected by the virus of security internet I had to wipe my hard drive. The virus wouldn't let me do anything, boot without failure or system restore. I wiped the disk and it still wouldn't load up. That's why I had to do a full erase of the disk including the hidden partition.

After doing his now do not let my boot from the CD of restoration as it says invalid partition as his search for files that must be on the hidden partition. What can I do to get it started. I'm not bothered about to recover anything on the disc. If I remove the hard drive and put the recovery cd in, it excludes the disc and begins to start until he fails to see the hard drive.

Outwardly I can link the drive to another pc and he sees it as a storage device so I'm glad that there is nothing wrong with the hard ware - help please

    Hello

Can you see the HARD drive with all the details in the BIOS?
If this isn't the case, then this means that the HARD drive is faulty or not fully compatible.
If you can see the HARD drive in the BIOS, then this means that the HARD drive is compatible.

But this should not affect booting from a bootable CD.
Even if the HD would not be recognized in the BIOS, you should be able to boot from the CD. For example a live Linux CD has not only any disk HARD because the BONE would not be installed on the HARD drive, but it loads into RAM.

The question is; Why you are unable to boot from any CD?
Maybe the discs are scratched or the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc more because of problems of laser lens
If possible, try to copy/burn the Windows CD using another computer, and then try to start using the copied disc.

    Hello

    You am I entitled?
You are able to turn on the laptop and you can see the Toshiba splash screen at the beginning, but you cannot boot from the CD.
    Right?
Have you tested different CD bootable as drive Linux Live CD or recover from Toshiba?

Theoretically the question could be just a bad drive but of course the CD/DVD drive could be faulty too if the CD/DVD drive cannot boot from any CD, and then try to clean the lens laser alcohol or cotton tip.

  • My C50 - B Satellite does not start from the HARD drive

    Details of the machine: -.

    Model number: PSCMLA-03F07Q
    Serial number: XE343127P

Computer does not start from hard drive. No error message, just the start Toshiba at the end of self-test screen.

Sometimes a reinstall of the operating system seems to correct the problem, but then he would go again, now the problem is consistent.

I reduced the possibilities to a fault of BIOS, reasons.

System boots from USB with no problems. Installation of operating systems is done without error. SMART hard drive data indicates a perfectly healthy hard drive. Memcheck will return no error.

The obvious solution is to reload the BIOS, just reset it doesn't help. But that is the problem.

1.4 BIOS update that the Australian site offers is a Windows program and the computer cannot start Windows.

Obvious answer is to use a bootable USB key with an operating system 'live' on this issue, but all of these systems are Linux and the update of the BIOS is a Windows program. So much for smart solutions.

Downloaded Bios version 1.7 of the European site but the iso inside the rar file is empty, 25 MB in size but nothing in there according to Linux. Tried to run his program on a Win7 64 bit computer and it returns an error that it could not find the correct iso file.

I submitted a support request by email to Toshiba, but they believe that it could take three days to get a response, so I thought I would ask here as well. Can someone tell me please to a working copy of the latest BIOS update disk for a laptop Satelite C50 - B? Note: this model does not have a CD player so iso should be compatible with USB boot.

    See you soon,.

    Andrew.

    Hello

From my experience that I n think that BIOS update is the final solution for you. When you set the default settings of the BIOS disk HARD appears correctly in the BIOS settings?
HARD drive is also offered and listed as boot device when you enter in the start using F12 at startup menu?

What happens when you start using recovery image installation created recovery USB key (I hope that you have created a)?

Offer BIOS updates are versions of WIN and can be performed by running the Windows operating system.

  • Boot from the 2nd drive HARD modular bay adapter (satellite P20)

    Hello

I have a SP20-102 and I replaced the stock model with a 120 GB Seagate HDD and moved the original disc in a Module Bay HDD adapter.

Is it possible to configure things so I can choose which HARD drive to boot from at the start, i.e. it is by default on the internal HARD drive but I can't choose to boot from the HARD drive in the modular Bay?

I tried pressing F12 to boot device selection screen, but am unable to choose the 2nd HARD drive.

    Any ideas?

By so, even though I have the recovery CD and the computer can not read them.

    I'm out on this one.

    Hello

I think that your partition on the HARD disk is damaged and so you cannot boot from the HARD drive.
In this case, the HARD drive must be formatted completely and then you could try to install the OS.

It seems also that your drive cannot recognize the CD bootable (WinXP?) and, therefore, it of not possible to boot from the drive.
Well, it really stupid s :_| situation really stupid!

However, did you try to boot from another CD? For example Microsoft Windows original CD?
If not I recommend you to do and eventually the reader will be able to read the CD.
If this isn't the case, so I think that the reader must be checked. Possibly it also corrupted s.

  • Satellite A300-1MH - cannot start the eSATA external HARD disk drive

When I connect eSATA disk HARD Satellite A300 is locked and the HARD drive is not detected. I tried to connect the HARD drive with both eSATA - SATA + USB power cable Cable when it is powered OFF with the same locked A300 result.
    Reloading utility chipset change anything.

PS. on another computer same portable HARD drive works fine in both previous cases
    Thanks for the attention
    Fabio

AFAIK, the chipset drivers are responsible for the usb, esata functions but you already reinstalled it. Have you tried to remove the chipset drivers in Device Manager and reinstall again? If still does not solve your problem, it may be the operating system itself. Using the preinstalled operating system or Windows disk?

  • Satellite P200D died - nothing on the screen, no HARD drive noise

    Hello
    Toshiba P200D-112 (satellite)
Just 2 years and already 'OUT '.

When I press the Start button, the power light comes on and will stay on.
The fans start but stop in a few seconds and nothing more happens.
Nothing on the screen, no hard noise complete silence.
If I continue to press the start for a few seconds power button is sharp as usual.

Looks like a protection stop start to work.

I changed the CPU for nothing (the only chip that I can change without welding).
I tried with battery and without the battery.
    I changed the HD.
    I deleted the DVD player.
Now, I have on the table, just the motherboard and I have always the same thing.

Do you please an idea on the reason of this phenomenon.
    Thanks Christos

    Hello

I see you didn't check the RAM modules.
Usually, it is the first part that should be checked before you disassemble the laptop everything and try to replace the other, new parts like CPU or similar

But if the replacement of the RAM won't help, so I put t see any other solution proposal to replace the whole motherboard.

It's a shame because the new motherboard costs a small fortune

Y at - it an option to get my OS on DVD from Microsoft or Toshiba?
If I use this tool to reinstall the OS, I will loss all the information on the D drive (Vista is on the C drive)

    Thanks for the reply

    Hello

Seems that drive HARD recovery does not work.
Perhaps something has changed on the recovery of HARD drive partition or recovery files has been deleted

Usually it s always advisable to create a recovery disk in a first time. This should be done at the beginning and this recovery disk is always useful if something would go wrong with drive recovery HARD or with HARD drive

Now, you can't get the phone because you don t have this drive and the HARD drive does not work

    What to do?
Well, I think that you would need new control disc.
    You can do so here:

  • Low beginning on Satellite M40-145 after changing the 160 GB HARD drive

    Hello

I own a Satellite M40-145 since 2005. After more than two years without any problem, two weeks ago the 80 GB hard drive to the original address has been damaged. So I had to replace it with a new, 160 GB (this replacement was made in a store because it's out of warranty).

I used successfully on the new HARD drive recovery CD to install Windows XP and all the drivers (just as when it was new).
I used Partition Magic to create a partition of D for data. Also, I installed Office 2003, Norton 360 and connected to the Internet.
It worked quickly with only small problems than perhaps with little patience I could fix: as this Bluetooth hardware is not detected and the wireless switch began with the lights off even being in the position we (it worked with new just switching out-lit again). But suddenly, after only one day of use, Windows starts became very slow. It takes about 4-5 minutes until it is possible to use the laptop.

Now, I tried many possibilities to solve the problem, but always ending on the same problem: I used the recovery CD again and try to use the computer with or without updates (I thought that maybe the problem was due to a bad update), with and without Internet access, etc.
I also tried in vain the program Microsoft Bootvis to try to speed up the startup, etc.

I even created an image with Acronis to only with XP and Office running fast, so that I could install it again and try new things.
I also tried to clean the registry with various programs like CCleaner, TuneUp 2008
Also the defrag JKDefrag and PageDefrag. But always returning to the same problem after a few days of good conduct.

I don't know what else I could do. I wonder if maybe the new HD is damaged (although I test and no error or no damage was detected) or if the update BIOS might resolve this problem (I'm not and that's a big risk).

    Please, could someone help me?
Thank you very much for your attention.
    Pablo

In my view, that there is nothing wrong with the software or all drivers on you laptop.
I think the key is the enormous size of the HARD drive.

The difference between 80 and 160 GB is huge.

To my knowledge, the BIOS supports a limit on the size of HARD drive and I really wonder why the 160 GB HARD drive has been recognized by the BIOS.

However, I think you should test a 100 GB, 120 GB HDD if the same question perhaps if poster using a HDD a size smaller.

    Best regards

  • Stuck with Windows 7 64 bit from the old disk HARD of SSHD migration

There are a lot of smart people on this forum - maybe you can advise me. I recently bought the Seagate 4 to Desktop SSHD ST4000DX001. I'm stuck with migration my Windows 7 64 bit and all the data from the old HDD to the SSHD.  Then I used the Windows Disk Manager to format the SSHD in GPT format (recommended by Windows). Then I used XXClone (freeware from the internet) to clone my old HDD. There was a message of XXClone who said that as the SSHD is GPT formatted, it didn't ensure that the clone is bootable. I tried to start the sshd with the clone of my operating system and data. It did not work.  Now I use the new SSHD as a secondary drive and I use the old HDD as primary bootable drive.  My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-A55M-DS2.  It's EFI but not UEFI.  I heard that EFI support starting from the 3 TB GPT partition while UEFI support starting from much larger disks.  Is this information correct?  Does this mean I have to change the motherboard in GA-H61M-D2H-USB3 to use my 4TB SSHD to start from a GPT formatting?  Help, please.  Thank you so much.

Problem solved.  I did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit for my new 4 TB (format decimal numbering system) SSHD (3.63 TB in binary system).  He starts without a problem.  The cloning approach has not worked because my old HDD MBR format and it the SSHD uses the GPT format.  This means that I have to re-install my games and copy my data from the old disk to the new.  Thanks to everyone who responded to my messages.

  • transfer files from the old drive hard windows 7 to new computer windows 8

My old laptop windows 7 crashed for an unknown reason, so I bought a new laptop with windows 8. I removed the hard drive from the windows 7 machine and using an external enclosure card connected to the new laptop.

I can see and open any public folders in the folder of the user data, but can not access a user folder. Also when I right click on the folder of the user, it seems that they are empty.

I have tried making the appropriation and unchecking hidden files but still no luck.

    Pretty frustrated right now.

I think I solved the problem.

I had to do a right-click on the folder user and copy and paste in a new folder. While he was doing that he clean up some data. Don't know exactly what was going since I wasn't there when it happened.

Once he went through this process, I could see my user files to the new folder and the old hard drive.

Sorry I can't explain it better.
