Satellite L300 - black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left

July 11, 2010
My computer purchased on March 7, 2009.

I don't know if there is a problem of tension, but there is certainly a problem of heat and since I bought it, almost constantly overheating. For about 2 months, it became more slower to load the desktop. For about 1 month, the operating system found himself in a cycle of rebooting - rebooting repeatedly instead of start normally.

On July 11, 2010, the Windows XP operating system would not start. Lit black screen, blinking cursor in the top left. The computer does not have a Windows startup disk and won't start not in: -.

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last good Configuration known (most recent settings that worked)
Start Windows normally
System Restore - will not give access.
Recovery console - the Windows XP CD will start and provided access to the Recovery Console called tool. Operations: -.

Difficulty in a Boot.ini file that is damaged - YES
Difficulty a corrupt partition boot sector - YES
Difficulty of a corrupt master boot record - No.

I pressed F2, F8, F10 and F12.

Hello

It seems that something was tangled up in your Windows installation and the computer can no longer start t.

In this case, you have only one option and that s reinstalling Windows. Therefore, you can take the (better) Toshiba Recovery disk or a Microsoft Windows XP disk. It will restore factory settings and your computer is read to use again.

    Hello

What changes have been made on your machine for there to be a black screen with a cursor?

Rather than doing a clean install of your operating system, I suggest you do the following.

    Step 1:

Remove all external devices (printer, USB flash drive), as appropriate, and start your computer again and check.

    Step 2:

If this is little help, start your machine in safe mode and check if it starts on the desktop.

  • Invalid product key, left my computer with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot.

A few days ago, I tried to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 10 using the free update. Installation hung at 84% for 2 hours, then restarted, was unable to recover the installation and then could not get back to Win 7. This left us with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot. The computer would remain in this State for about 10 minutes and then reboot and repeat.

Fortunately, or so I thought, I had a few CD Windows installation backup from the back to the era of digital river. So I thought I'd install fresh on my empty partition, copy my files and data, and then format the partition with the installation broken on.

I did, but now he tells me that my product key is not valid and cannot be activated. The product key came on a real label on the PC when we bought it.

The key is for X 16-96072. I installed X 17-58997 (Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 with SP1 (u)). I don't know what is the problem with the key? Should I have installed without the (u)?

One key 25 digits grouped in 5 sequences of 5 characters not X 17-58997.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to the desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, after a short time, continue button will change to a copy button.
Click the copy button in the tool (ignore the error at this stage) and then paste (with r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your message.

I also have a large amount of data I really want out of the hard drive. any suggestions?

Any help or suggestions much appreciated

    Hello

To be honest, for me it looks like a Windows problem. Maybe something messed with the registry and Windows can start t more

I think that you must restore windows recovery disk Toshiba you wrote that you have tried to load the restore disc but what happened after that? Can start the installation of recovery? If so, you should do this.

Backup, you can do if you buy an external HARD drive enclosure. Remove the HARD drive and install in the case of HARD drive. Now you can connect to another computer.

    > pressing the zero key "0" turn on the power, when you see a white bottom bar and hear a glance release the Zero key and it should start installation or reinstallation of your system

I doubt it will work because this function is NOT implemented on Toshiba notebooks European but as I know about the series of notebook Toshiba U.S.!

You can try to press the F8 key. An option called fix my computer should then be visible. Select it, then choose Toshiba HDD Recovery. Then a HARD drive recovery procedure must begin.

But if it of not possible to choose this option, and then you take your recovery disk and must try to boot from it.
If you don t have a recovery disk, and then use a CD of original installation MS windows, or you can order a new disc of recovery from here:

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite L300 - black screen with flashing white cursor

All of a sudden my laptop won't start more. It turns on, displays screen toshiba for a second and then goes to a black screen with a blinking white line in the upper left corner. I can't type something here! The last time I used it it was 100% very well, I have not downloaded anything so I'm very curious to what it might be.

    Help, please!

    Hi mate,

Maybe something messed up to the top of your Windows installation and if the computer may start t more or your HARD drive becomes faulty...

You can access the BIOS? If so, check if your HARD drive is recognized. If so I think that it of necessary to reinstall Windows. Therefore, take the Toshiba recovery disc.

  • Satellite A100 has a black screen and will not charge in the Bios

I bought a Satellite A100 - (model psaa8c-0fh00e) about 5 months ago. It was left overnight, which is not uncommon, and when I came back using about 15 hours later it was just a black screen. moved from the touch screen and keys, and nothing did. so I cold it starts and he died. I then turned it back as usual and the laptop turns on but the screen is completely black. It's not loading the normal Toshiba Bios screen.

Now my question: If there is any way I can solve this, I am familiar with computers and parts. I don't get this cause I've ever had to reflash the wood or something like that. I am unsure of how to activate and I really want to have to take it to a shop, any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Conrad,.

If your 100 starts normally (spinning HARD drive, optical drive LED flashes, fans turn etc.) then I suppose that your FL inverter or LCD screen is not. You can check this by connecting an external monitor to the laptop to see if it shows the normal display.

On the other hand if there is no activity at all portable computer turn when you turn it on then I guess you have an internal hardware failure, possibly the main card, which must be checked by a Service partner authorized Toshiba since the unit is still under warranty if it is only 5 months old.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P200D - black screen and does not just by running

    Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Satellite P200D - 107 PSPBLE with configuration set-aside:

    Processor: Turion x 2 TL - 52 64-bit clocked at 1.6 Ghz
    Display: 17.3 inch
Graphics card: Ati radeon x 1200
    RAM: 2 x 512 MB ram (1 GB total) which I upgraded to 1 x 2000 MB and 1 x 512 MB (for a total of 2.5 GB)
OS: FACTORY CD WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32-BIT
Power: Running on the direct power without the battery cable

Although the pc is quite old sound fundamentally new barely there 1 year of normal use on it.

    PROBLEM:

The screen goes black (no), even if the screen still has the backlight running, the laptop is still under tension, but its basically in a kind of deep hibernation with the fan running yet.
The laptop screen turns off 5-10 minutes after windows loads, even if in idle, it also stops during installation of the operating system.
I tried to run the music and the music stops when the screen goes black made all the hard disk activity which I believe indicates that it is not related to the video chip.

    TRIED SO FAR:

    1. open up the computer laptop and cleaned all dust processor, now CPU temp is 50 max, even for hard disk
    2. update the bios to the original to 1.70 - did not help
3 connected external monitor also stops it the same time as the laptop screen indicating it is not not a screen issue
    4 reinstall OS several times
5 tested memory with memtest64 - no error
    6. test the hard drive with hddregenerator - no error

    What I've noticed:

If I leave just a 512 MB of ram in the laptop then the laptop stops not at all even in windows applications, tried to launch a game to remove video card and it works without problem for hours, but as soon as I add the stick of 2 GB or another origianal 512 stick it will go inside the black screen 5-10 min (or earlier) to get into windows.

He never stops in dos mode (as in memtest, hddregen) even with 2.5 GB of ram.

After that the screen goes black, if I stopped and then try to save, it it won't work at all, the screen stays black with the fan spinning and boot CD, I must absolutely disconect the power cord power and re - set before it starts again.

Anyone has any ideas, I am experienced with the pc, but have never stumbled upon something so weird that I have just can't explain this problem that came straight from heaven.

Toshiba to wake up, this forum is a total joke, you would think that you would be able to afford hiring a bunch of technicians to actually help people rather than rely on the users of the forum to do your work for your, you don't need to have a forum, if you don't have the staff to actually help people solve their problems.

  • Windows 7 - partition windows on a new drive... travel startup gives nothing but the black screen and blinking cursor

I am replacing a hard drive and move a partition Windows 7 from one disk to another.  The original partition of Windows 7 starts and works perfectly, but when I clone to the new drive, I have a terrible problem getting the new boot drive.

On the original drive, the partition is the partition 3, on the new disk partition is partition 2.

Both drives have the same size of cylinder.

The new partition was created as a partition main with the same dimensions as the other and cloned in the whole content of the partition.  The files are all there in the new partition.

He is currently not starting correctly, it starts the partition, but then he's here - I don't see Windows Welcome screen or anything - just immediately inadmissible black screen with a blinking cursor.  All I can do is reboot.  By pressing F8 at startup does nothing.

Start of support for windows 7 and running repair features discovered the new partition as C: and CHKDSK C: points and gives a good report of the partition.

    BIOS settings have been lacking.

The following commands were executed the repair windows 7 installation media feature:

    Of http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749177 (v = ws.10) .aspx

    BOOTSECT/NT60 C:

    And http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/927392

    BOOTREC /FIXMBR

    BOOTREC /FIXBOOT

    C:
    BOOT CD
    BCD ATTRIB S H R
    REN C:\BOOT\BCD BCD. OLD
    BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD

The new partition was made active and is the only asset.

If I erase and freshly installed Windows 7 on the partition, it does not start successfully, but if I then replace the contents of the partition with a clone of the other partition of work, it does not work.

So that leaves me with a pretty good confidence that the problem has nothing to do with the charger starting and everything related to the content of the partition itself.

I can't find more useful information for the boot partition.

    Any ideas?

Moving Windows is not the best method.

It is better to 'image' or 'clone' Windows to the new drive, using software such as Acronis

True Imageor AOEMI Partition Wizard (free). I've used both (has a free version of Western Digital

Acronis to use if you have WD hard drives).

    .Acronis.com/en-au/Personal/PC-Backup

    .disk-partition.com/Free-Partition-Manager

(EDIT: I need to be careful.) Had redundant stuff here...;). )

Dual-boot can be difficult in the best of times, but two partitions on a HARD drive...

I don't think that you can select a particular partition in the BIOS to be your first boot option, only

from the HARD disk, so it would be a blow to the top.

See if there's useful information below-

    Hello

If the BIOS page does not appear, then it s a serious question.
Seems that the motherboard is dead.

In my opinion, a technician should check this section first, and perhaps you will need a new

Motherboards are parties, then perhaps it s not an option for you

  • Satellite L300:Blue screen and 'technical information' STOP: 0 x 00008086.

    Hello

I have a huge problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite L-300. Whenever I have load it I get a blue screen and the "technical information" STOP: 0 x 00008086.

I saw answers to this when it is suggested that you go in safe mode and then follow the steps from there, but when I press F8 I get a loud beep and the computer carries its load before coming with the same blue screen.

I am able to enter the configuration utility (F2) and the Boot Manager (F12), but that's all.
What I do, he turns to blue screen with the same information.
Tried to reinstall from the CD of restoration without success.

    Help would be massively appreciated.

    Hello

    > Tried to reinstall from the recovery without success CD.
In this case, it seems hardware problem.
BSOD can be a product of memory problems. Try to delete a memory modules and test the laptop with a module in each slot. The two test modules.

But this could be one of the possible malfunctions
