Satellite L670 - Recovery Question

Hello, does anyone know if there is a recovery of HD partition or do I have to use the DVD to recover my system?

Edit: I just found it myself. But I still have the problem that I do not get there. The manual says to press "0" at the start, but I can just choose to boot my system or use some diagnostic tools.

If the laptop has a factory recovery partition settings should be there, but we don t know what have you done in the past with your laptop.

If you have the recovery disk use these recovery image installation discs.

    Hello

    I have this laptop: Satellite L670-184 PSK3EE-039007FR

This laptop is no longer under warranty, but my will is to save my data and whether my hard drive might be fix.

For 13 months, I have seen no problems with him, but for 2 weeks, I have experiment some gel and bug during initialization. Last week, I couldn't reach the connection windows operating system, I try to reach the Restore tool (F8 key) but there is no possibility to achieve the recovery partition.

With a live CD, I managed to save some data, but after recording, my hard drive was not identified in the linux live cd or in a SATA / USB link.

The hard disk starts itself, but is not identified. The disc was not uncommon or metallic sounds. It is impossible to load an operating system or of the TOSHIBA recovery partition in the laptop (SATA port) or via USB (SATA/USB tool).

The laptop starts with another hard drive SATA (SATA drive Exchange).

    What is your opinion?

Can it be fixed (at this point, it is not a question of money but a question of possibility...)?
There are software or processes to identy, restart or restore the disk without it recognition? How it identified?

    Hello

In this case, it would mean that the disc is broken I recommend you replace this HARD drive and install the operating system once more using the Toshiba disk recover.

If you didn't create the disc of recovery in the past, then you can order it here:

  • Re: Problems with Win7 boot on the new Satellite L670-17 x

    Hi guys,.

Three days ago I got my new Toshiba Satellite L670-17 x. Installing Win7 was not a problem, but now (after the start of the third or fourth) I suddenly a big trouble with the operating system.

When I turn on my laptop, it loads up until I can see the Windows loading screen. Then - both - the laptop stop working... I can only see the loading screen, but nothing happens. Turns off the light litte to the frontsite (which shows that the specifications of load/work). No error message.

I want to avoid using the Toshiba HARD drive recovery, because I saved (important) documents on the desktop (I know... not very smart). I ask you to help me with my problem.

(By the way: I already tried Windows repair system, System Restore memory diagnostic tool and start Windows Mode without failure).

Thank you very much for your answers!

If you cannot boot OS in safe mode, that, in my opinion, you have a big problem. I'm afraid only installation of HARD drive recovery will help you in this m.
The question is what to do with this data.

Perhaps you should remove the HARD drive and connect it to another computer to have full access to all of these external data. Copy them, replace the HARD drive in your Satellite and install the OS by using HARD drive recovery option.

I have been in contact with my ISP Distributor and the modem. I can see myself as th e local area Connection is not on my computer. I did a system restore and it did not help. Maybe it sounds silly now, but it is not easy to understand your ad. Sorry, but what is the main problem? LAN connectivity?

If I understand you right, WLAN option on your laptop works fine.

  • Re: Satellite L670 loses the wireless connection

    Hello

I have a Satellite L670 - 1 H 1, a new laptop that runs Windows 7, with all the drivers and software uptodate, including the wireless card.

I have a BT Home Hub 3 with an Edimax EW 7416APN v2 300 m range extender to help boost the signal in the kitchen area.

The laptop works fine when I stay in the room where the reception centre. If I move in the kitchen the laptop will usually lose the wireless connection after a few minutes and I cannot get it back unless I turn the LAPTOP works and return to the Home Hub.

I see no obvious reason to this problem. Two other laptop computers used in the home, more a smartphone stay connected with full signal in every corner of the House, at any time.

I have to use the range extender, but is it possible that the laptop Toshiba just don't hear well with it?

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you
    Canton

    Hello Canton

As you know quality of connection WLAN depends on different factors is not easy to say why you have this problem, WLAN. I use Toshiba laptops for a long time now and I didn't notice in the past some serious question of WLAN.
For example I'm 4 router with standard g and have very good signal even in the cellar too or out in the back yard.

If possible, try to test the WLAN connection elsewhere. Maybe your friends have WLAN routers so you can test it.

You have a new router or old?
What WLAN standard do you use (b/g/n)?

  • Satellite L670-1EE - reinstallation of Win 7 - key not readable series

    Hello

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite L670-1EE January 2011
Now the system completely crashed and I need to reinstall from scratch.

My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.

Are there opportunities to get the key, or can I use a special image of Toshiba to retrieve?

I can't access the installed windows, fails to start, I tried a recovery with a DVD of victory but it didn't work, so I need to reinstall it.

    > My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.
This key cannot be used as part of the new Windows 7
It is an OEM key that belongs to the image of Toshiba. For the most part, these keys don't work.

The point is that Toshiba preinstalled system has already been activated in the image of the Toshiba.
But there is no need to be activated after the recovery procedure.

So if you want to use the own system of Windows, you must purchase a license from Microsoft.
In case you want to use the image of Toshiba, you must use the Toshiba Recovery disk that probably, you have not created in the past. Right?

In this case, there is another option: you can order this disc from here:

  • Satellite L670-12J - becomes inadmissible constantly

    Hello

My Satellite L670-12J new running Windows 7 64 bit freezes constantly, usually a few minutes after the start of almost every time I turn it on. It becomes inadmissible: I can't change the application, view the Task Manager or activate the start menu. The mouse cursor moves, but displays the wait icon and I can't click anywhere. The hard drive light flashes on a regular basis, a quick flash once a second about.

It does not appear to be linked to a specific program that I am running. I can get when the computer is idle or when I run a random application.

The only way to recover from it turn the computer off (press and hold power for a few seconds). Once it restarts, it works without problem until the next time I turn it on.

As I bought this week yet, should I go back to the dealer and ask for another or is there something I can do to fix this?

    Thank you
    Luis

    Hello

Usually, these gels can be related to a hardware or software problem. You have installed all drivers for software once you've got the laptop?

In General, before returning the laptop, you must reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc. The disc can restore factory settings and if it s just a software problem, it will be fixed after reinstalling Windows.

Otherwise you need the service help :(

  • Satellite L670 - screen don't market not 'start '.

I'm trying to fix the laptop named. The problem is that the screen start not (still empty) when I press the power button. I can hear the fan running and if I put a cd/dvd in the drive I can hear it turn. The problem occurs randomly and finally a few days then I can start the laptop normally, windows 7 loads normally and the only problem is overheating. However on the next working the same problems again.

I tried to remove the battery and the power cable and pressing the Start button for Tip 1-2 minutes, but it doesn't seem to work. When he did load I scanned it against viruses and hardware problems (with various tools, but nothing has been found). I used thin program drivers to update some drivers but still no result.

I tried to connect another monitor, but once again the two screen remains blank.

    What could be the problem?

    Satellite L670 (European model)

You mentioned the problem of overheating.
I guess it could be the main reason why the laptop does not work correctly.

The high internal temperature can affect the internal parts as mother and CPU, graphics card, RAM, card.
I can't say for sure what part may be the troublemaker, but in my opinion this isn't question of display.

For display problems, you should be able to use the laptop as part of the external monitor, but obviously this isn't possible

RAM replacement is not very delicate, it might be useful to test the new RAM modules, but it is a possible troublemaker
There is no guarantee that after the replacement of the RAM, the notebook would work perfectly.

  • Satellite L670 - 10 p BIOS flash error

    Hello

Please I ask all the people here on this forum if you can help me with my situation.

I have a Satellite L670 - 10 p and I wanted to do a BIOS upgrade. I downloaded the update to the BIOS from the page drivers and ran the executable inside. The program launched flashing the BIOS at the time without even asking anything or display certain information.

The problem is that during the flashing, for some reason any the laptop off just - looks like it was overheating, because I had on my bed and didn't know that, maybe, the air cannot flow through the openings at the bottom.

Anyway, now I have a non-working computer. Whenever I want to turn it on, the fan starts a bit, and then it turns off after 1 or 2 seconds.

I also noticed, that if I plug in any USB key and turn everything on by pressing Fn + B, he wants to read something from the USB. I figured this out while trying to retrieve it using this BIOS Phoenix crisis recovery tool, but I had no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

    > Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

Well, the fact is that the module of the BIOS EPROM was not flashed properly. The update process was interrupted and that is why the laptop doesn't work anymore.

As far as I know, this kind of problems can be solved easily. To reflash the EPROM you need a particular crisis BIOS recovery tool.
Usually the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country has access to these software and could help you solve the problem.

But I found a few comments in other threads on the corrupted BIOS problem and how to solve:

It may be useful if not ASP should be contacted.

  • Why can we not replace the WLAN on Satellite L670 card?

    Hello

I use a PSK3EE satellite L670-143, which comes with a default of Atheros AR9285 wireless network adapter.
I tried to replace it with the 5 GHz Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230, who has a 2-pin connection too.
Unfortunately, the card is correctly recognized by Windows7 but for some reason any, he gets no signal.

Running inSSIDer, there is no unique surrounding device found, while even my own router is advertising in the 5 GHz band, and the taskbar icon, said Intel's Wifi network but it still says that Wifi is disabled.

Trying to enable/disable wireless network connection by using the special key FN + F8 combination, I am unable to turn it on.

Please someone has installed a third-party network adapter in a satellite? Toshiba blocks everything, but default wireless adapters? or how to operate next door only be correctly detected by Windows, but cannot turn the signal?

    Thanks for any help.

    > Why we cannot replace the NIC on Satellite L670?
In General, hardware upgrade on laptops is very limited because of platforms of specific material used for mobile computing.

Associated s user updates are only RAM and HARD drive. If you have any other questions on this I recommend you to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider. They have access to the database of Toshiba and can offer any kind of information about the hardware and the hardware upgrade.

  • Cannot restore my Satellite L670

    OK, let's go...

I have a Tosh Satellite L670 with all the trimmings of toshiba, including the center of recovery and the recovey disc image hidden. Everything is good so far. Until the I had a failed drive :( So, no toshiba Recovery Center and no image factory. And, being a developer of software (not a technician of material), I not create a recovery DVD set.

Stupidly, I have not around him, so my bad.

I managed to get a Windows7 bootable disk, got a DOS command and successful guest to reformat the main disk and boot sector. Then I had the image of another, very similar, Toshiba, loaded this image, re-registered windows 7 and got the girl back up and running. Obviously, I have still problems such as the images are a little inconsistent, but I have a system that works, so I can go online and do the normal stuff, but I wanted to put it to its factory settings. I had reset disks for my make and model was sent to me by toshiba (for a price, of course).

Instructions for use the factory reset disks are very simple. Place the disc in the dvd drive, shut down the laptop, restart, press F12 and select "Boot from DVD.

Done that... Did not work :( The message I get is that the boot DVD failed.

Now, my problem is that I have (allegedly) 2 factory reset disks provided by Toshiba and no way to use them. I did a little research, and the files on the disks (files of stormwater management) appear to be split system (WIMS) windows image, so I downloaded the Windows System Image Manager to see if I could use that to reload the original image. He didn't recognize them as image files.

I'm inclined to believe that a utility back (IMAGEX.exe) might do the trick, but I'm not convinced (do not know what is happening to use, don't know how to restore 'split' image files, do not believe that I can run while Windows7 runs the disk I want to reload the image for, etc.).

Thus, any help or advice would be appreciated, especially Toshiba (if they can tell me why do not work the 'instructions').

    Thank you

    Hello Rico

It's a really bad situation now. Generally, if the recovery disc is created correctly it should work. It is not designed for some kind of manipulation, and either it works or not. I don t think you can do something about it.

Please try to use it several times and if the same mistake happen again and again I recommend you contact Avato and explain the situation.

Orientation of Toshiba? Here on the user forum? Forget it. All you can do is contact the Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help or advice.
