Satellite M30-951 - processor clocked at 600 MHz (it must be at 1500) - high energy saving

Hello

earlier this year, a company has changed the case of my laptop. Since that time on the laptop was very slow. I thought it has something to do with the software, but after a new installation, the problem was not solved.

Now, I used severel programs to check the speed of the CPU. Programms all tell me that my CPU Speed is 600 MHz (it must be at 1500 MHz).

The laptop is connectet to current alternative and energy-saving is high. I did a bios update and spent setting the CPU in the Bios of dynamics to high. But no sollution.

Then I saw that my fan does not (at the beginning, or when I use Notepad). I thought that his damaged, but I tested it on another laptop and the fan works perfectly with 5V.

Moreover no program shows me the temprature, so I think the sensor of temprature or anything else is failure, so that the fan does not work and the CPU is at each time at 600 MHz.

Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this problem or I have to change?

Thank you very much

Nassim

Seems you have tried almost everything that can be done now.
And I agree with you that there could be something wrong with temperature sensor and this is why I advise you to go to an authorized service provider to verify if this is really the problem.

Before you do, you could try if the programmable notebook hardware control (NHC) can display the temperature because it is a very good tool. But as you say, no other tool could do this job, I doubt that it can control it. But worth a try.

    Hello

As far as I know if the motherboard is changed the speed of the CPU will be around 600 MHz and in this case the service partner needs to update the CPU microcode. After that, the speed of the processor will be as before.

I hope that you have already solved your problem with the speed of the processor.

  • Satellite M30, the processor speed?

    Hello

I received my laptop Toshiba m30 pentium 1.6 m John Lewis back after replacing the LCD screen. After using it for a few hours last night, I realized the fan did not come at once.
I checked the speed of the cpu and it is fixed at 600 mhz. I can't change it much matter what I do. It was fine until it went for repair. I put the option always entirely in the bios, but it's still 600 mhz. Even playing DVD is the same and the fan never turns on. Before that happened for repair, there is a Toshiba power save option where you can set the speed to always high or dynamic etc., but now there is only an option to adjust the level, either 1, 2 or 3. Also, I had already updated the bios to 1.60 and when I looked after taking over it was 1.20? Is there a reason why Toshiba needed to do this? I updated the bios to 1.60 and its still the same.

    Hello

looking at your history, it seems that you have had more than a replacement of the LCD screen. I guess the servicepartner has also changed the PCB (motherboard). If they do, they need to upgrade a special firmware to get the full speed of the CPU. If they fail to do this, the machine runs at a speed fixed 600 MHz. Just as you describe.
So, my suggestion, contact the serviceprovider and ask them if they have changed the motherboard and if they did, ask them to update the CPU microcode.

    Good luck

  • Compatible LCD Panel for Satellite M30 951

Unfortunately, the display on a Satellite M30 (PSM30E-7101Y-GR) is broken. Well, to change it would not be a great thing, but I would like to know what screen models when used on this Version (for example is it possible to build in a style of glare panel without changing other things) or to simply find out which would be the cheapest possible display.

Does anyone have a list of views that are used for this model?

    Hello

I think that the laptop comes with a 15.4 wide TFT color display screen "(1280 x 800) screen."
In my opinion, you can use most of the 15.4 screens.
But be aware that the display is one of the most expensive neighborhoods that are used on the laptop.

On some sites, I found this K000009690 part number.

    Hope this helps a little

  • Satellite M30-951 does not start

My laptop does not start. There is a blue screen for a very short while indicating that there is an error in the memory. What type of memory your laptop where might I buy new, I can improve the memory to 2 or 4 GB, which can change the memory chips?

    Lots of questions...
    Sincere greetings, Drahreg01

    Hello

It seems that the memory is faulty or one of the modules is malfunctioning.

As far as I know the laptop supports the PC2700 200 pins (333 Mhz) DDR SODIMM modules and you can improve it only 2 GB of RAM

In your case, I would recommend checking the modules simple and if necessary replace it.

  • Satellite M30 - 951 graphics card or video BIOS doesn't work properly

On the BIOS and startup pages strange characters occur (screenshot www.audioberlin.com/M30-951_SCREEN.jpg).

XP starts, but the items displayed freeze and the screen goes black for a second. The system becomes slow and does not react anymore.
Maybe these symptoms started after trying to watch a movie which was not coded correctly, but I'm not sure.

I already tried different video drivers (Nvidia FX GO5200), changed the BIOS of 1.7 to 1.6 and vice versa and reinstalled XP Pro. I also replaced the RAM. Nothing changes :(

A broken video bios would be the problem? And how could this problem be solved?

Well, this has nothing to do with any installation process of software or something else
All programs, tools, drivers, and applications are not loaded if access the BIOS!

  • Portege M100 - blocked processor at 600 Mhz, have tried all BIOS versions

Just my BIOS was about 1.20 when I went to site Web from Toshiba to get the drivers to install and to found the update the BIOS so I followed instructions burn it to a disk, the last one I have and I went, but after the update, I noticed that xp says he was clocked at 600 MHz not 1 2 GHz.

So I used the cpuid to see if it is xp, but it shows as running 598,6 MHz processor and can flow to 600,4 MHz max so I went in the BIOS tried off sleep CPU max CPU and so restarted then I thought it was the xp so I reinstalled but still the same I used Suse Linux always the same.

I've reflashed the BIOS with 1.50 through the same restarted windows. I get on where and it becomes ridiculous, even, I went and found all BIOS versions on the US site of Toshiba, which dates back to version 1.10 to 1.50, so I tried all the. Nothing!

I am really puzzled that anyone can sort this is really boring and slow.

    Hello

Just a question; the motherboard has been replaced by the past?

I know, after the replacement of the motherboard, the test & diagnosis must be performed in order to update the CPU microcode on the circuit board.
If the firmware is not updated your CPU would be stuck at 600 Mhz.

In order to update the firmware, the ASP must be contacted.

The other reason why the CPU runs only at 600 Mhz is the setting low processing CPU Toshiba power saver.
Check if the Toshiba power saver is installed on your laptop and set the options at a higher level.

  • CPU frequency and bus on Satellite M30 is too low

    Hello

The processor and my Satellite M30 bus seems to be significantly under speed. According to Windows XP Pro and Solaris Nevada, the processor is clocked at 600 MHz. The frequency of the BIOS, scaling parameter is set to "Still high", and I tried to disable ACPI in the operating system (ensuring no interference on the software side), without result. Power in the Toshiba Power Saver settings are all maxed out, so no scaling should be there either. Intel Processor Identification Utility reports the following:

    Reported expected
    Speed: 1.60 GHz GHz 0.44
System bus: 400 MHz 294 MHz

Note that the tool uses algorithms to determine the speed, rather than trusting the value returned by the operating system, that one of her aims purposes is testing for fraudulenty CPU overclocked by OEMs. The speed as it is for me is even more disappointing. I don't know how long it has been like that, but one thing to note is that the motherboard has been replaced last summer.

Someone has an idea what here? Thank you.

Edit: I also loaded the CPU with CPU-Burn to see if some heavy loads would get understandingly frequency. It has no effect.

    Hello

If you use the advanced search option, you will find a few similar topics with the explanation very clear why unit works with 600 MHz only.

In any case, after the replacement motherboard service must blink mainboard firmware. After doing this it will work at full speed. Because of this, I guess they forgot to do.

It is not a big problem. Please contact again and explain the situation.

  • Portege M100 just run half the speed - 600 Mhz

    Hello
I have a Portege M100 that I found very slow until I discovered it was running half speed (IE 600 mhz). I tried everything in the Bios and in Toshiba utility, but nothing to do: always clocked at 600 Mhz.

  • Satellite M30-801: CPU only works with a 600 MhZ

Hi people, I have a strange problem since my PC back to toshiba support (lcd problem, on assistance report i red that the pcb has been replaced): my CPU goes up to 600 MhZ. I tried to update the version of the bios from 1.20 to 1.70 successfully and I have restored the default value believing it could be a related problem of bios , but nothing changes.

The problem is present in a new installation of Windows XP (from recovery CD), so I think I could exclude a software problem.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

The update of BIOS does ' t solve this problem.
It seems that the Toshiba service partner forgot to start several compatibility tests. This is necessary after some repair procedures. Without this additional test, the CPU does not work with maximum efficiency. Well, there is nothing to see. You must contact the service again and it should solve this problem.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: Intel Pentium 4 M clocked 0.2 Mhz instead of 1.8 MhZ clock speed

    Hello

I have a 6100 Pro Satellite under XP SP2 on Bios 1.90. A few days ago, he suddenly started running very slowly.
According to the value of the ID of Intel, processor running at approximately 0.2 MHz, instead of the maximum speed of 1.8 MHz, with a similar reduction in the speed of the bus.
I have reset the BIOS and restore the MBR & OS, but the problem remains.

I'm running on current alternative, with display 100% charged battery. I also turned off all power settings to try to stop the running slow robot through the Intel speedstep technology.

This might sound like a hardware problem, but if I boot the machine from a Linux CD (Knoppix), it works very well - very reactive, and according to linux, the clock measures the speed to about 1.79 MHz.

Does anyone has an idea what could be causing this, or what I can try next?

    Hello

at first your machine cannot operate at 0.2 Mhz. It's impossible! So I think that this utility Intel ID is not give you correct information. He must know that the slower speed will achieve your cpu, established in the region of 600 mhz.
With 0.2 Mhz run your computer won´t!
You said that you have restored your system, but the fact that you have installed the latest drivers and tools for this computer from the Web from Toshiba site?

Maybe your CPU is defective, which can be a reason.

Satellite M30 laptop is very nice. I worked for about 6 months on this laptop. For me the laptop is powerful enough and upgrade the CPU is really not necessary. What you need to do is upgrade of RAM at the level maximum and of course good configuration of the OS.

Can you please tell me what operations run so slow and you want to upgrade CPU on this laptop?

    Hello

This problem occurs after the change of motherboard. Usually after mainboard change it is very important to bring tests and diagnostic procedures. Without this procedure, the CPU works with fixed 600 MHZ.
You should contact Toshiba service to resolve this problem of CPU.
