Satellite M70-165: unit of CD/DVD can't read data DVDs - "not possible access to D:.

Hello world

I have a Satellite M70-165 equipped of a DVD unit MAST * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S (5.1.2535.0 driver version).
After years of 1 and a half with no problems, a few days ago, I restore the operating system (Windows XP Home) through the Toshiba restart DVD.

Since then, the CD/DVD unit can read DVD audio, CD, or movies, but when I open a DVD (DVD software) data it is said that "it is not possible to access to the D:\." and something like "does not correct" (I use an Italian version of Win XP so I have to
translate the messages in English).

All drivrs are regularly installed and there should, in theory, work very well.

I am a user of entry level, and I don't really know what to do. I attended every single forum on the issue for the past few days, but nobody does
could help me.

I would be extremely grateful if someone could help.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

This error message has been documented on the site of Microsoft Knowledge:

[Error message when you access the CD or DVD drive after upgrade you to Windows XP: 'Incorrect function' | http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;] EN-US; 315350]

The documentation says that this problem can occur if the registration of CD from Roxio Easy CD Creator program is installed on the computer, and if the version of the CD burning program is not compatible with Windows XP.

Please take a look at this Forum thread too:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=24203&MessageID=88868

A user has solved this suppression of some video capture software that had a DVD DIY option.
These programs may change the whole registry values and causes these annoying problems.

Please check if you have installed these programs

    You can do the following: go to download drivers of Toshiba Europe site and check if there is an update of firmware for this specific player. If so, I strongly recommend you apply and check if it works.

    If the didn t of the firmware update worked later you assumed that the reader is defective and must be replaced.

  • Satellite M70-165 PSM70E - battery charging problem

    Hello
    My laptop is a Satellite M70-165 PSM70E. I use Windows XP Home Edition. I recently bought a new battery and it is impossible to charge more than 50%. I have updated the BIOS to 1.70 (for non Windows Vista users) and I still have the problems mentioned above. I tried to dischage completely and charge it again, several times, with no luck.

    Is there a solution?

    Another question. There is no 'EC' in the BIOS version, only "BIOS version 1.70". I hope there will be some calibration of the battery or the power management after the BIOS update, but there is no menu "Power Management" in the BIOS.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance.

    > recently bought a new battery and it is impossible to charge more than 50%

    In my opinion the new battery is not OK.
    You must consult an another new battery maybe you bought a battery already used?

    > Another question. There is no 'EC' in the BIOS version, only "BIOS version 1.70".
    On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you can find a BIOS update.
    I guess that this update contains the EC update too.

    It is not possible. Do you know why?
    You cannot search for laptop using the M70-165 model name. On the Toshiba download page, it is listed by model number. Your Satellite M70-165 a PSM70E part number so please use it for identification of laptop on the download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Updating BIOS for Satellite M70-165 with Windows7

    Hello!

    I recently got properly installed Windows 7 on my M70-165 with all the drivers!
    I ve installed a SSD hard drive too and now the phone works really well.

    But now I would update as bios version. I ve searched on this site and I find the updated 5.30 - WINNER, but it seems that it is only valid for Windows Vista...

    My questio is:
    Can I install this version on my laptop?

    I want to be very secure before installing this because I don't want to mess up now...

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    First of all thank you for your report on installing Win7 on this old Satellite notebook. I had it a long time ago and I was very happy with it using Windows XP Home edition.
    Up to now, on this forum, no one has mentioned on the M70 and Win7 so there is not much info on this subject.
    Fact is that this old piece of hardware is not supported for Win7 and if you have installed and configured successfully don't change anything. Leave it as it is.

    Update the BIOS is not important and does not help improve your laptop as it is. You change any BIOS.

  • Satellite M70 - 394 - what HARD drive I can install?

    I have a Satellite M70-394 (PSM70E) that I would like to upgrade the hard drive.

    Can you tell me what hard drive I'm able to install, such as what type of interface?
    Do you also know if I can run windows 7?
    and can you tell me if I installed a larger hard drive and a new operating system will be my original toshiba product recovery disk work.
    then where in my drive hard is my factory set windows xp so I can remove and install the new operating system

    Hello

    I m not a Satellite M70 owner but as far as I know this laptop comes with SATA drives. But you can check yourself if you remove the HARD drive and then you can see which interface it is.
    If you have a SATA interface, you can buy each HARD drive you want. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

    Normally you can install Windows 7 but it s not released yet. Theoretically, it should work but I'll wait until it's official market.

    With a new HARD disk, you use the Toshiba recovery disc too. Why not? It s not dependent on the HARD drive you have so just boot make up and follow the instructions on the screen.

    If you have any other questions, please let us know. :)

  • Satellite L30-134 PSL33E: CD/DVD player can't read data CD

    I bought my laptop (Satellite L30-134 PSL33E) 4 months ago and I had no problem with the optical drive of my Satellite. But yesterday, I discovered that my drive is no longer can read data CDs.

    I created a CD with the Toshiba ToDisc utility which contained MP3s. The CD works fine on another computer but when I try to play them on this computer Windows laptop tells me that the CD is blank and asks me if I want to save data.

    It doesn't have this problem with the DVD, I can read and write perfectly. My optical drive is a CARPET * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S. Windows says I have the latest driver for it (5.1.2535.0) but it says it's from 2001 (?) in the properties under the selected hardware.

    Help, please!

  • Satellite M70-375: where to find the SD card reader driver?

    Where can I find the drivers for the SD card reader? It is not in the list of all the drivers of the M70 series.

    I checked the s information about this device and it seems that the Satellite M70-375 has a number PSM70E-xxx.
    First you must choose the category good pilot because there are two sets of Satellite M70.
    In addition there is no own available SD card driver. You must install the driver cardbus.
    This driver is also responsible for the use of the SD card.

  • Satellite A200-17: after XP installation DVD not recongnised

    I have vista just formatted and installed XP on my laptop A200-17.
    In Vista, I could read and write CDs DVD, but as I found it now I can't read or write any DVD in XP and can only play regular CDs.

    Can someone help me around?
    Thank you

    How do you say? I assume you mean this engraving function in Solution Explorer.
    You can also use an external application to burn like Nero or CDBurnerXP to burn your files on a medium such as DVD/CD.

    Usually it shouldn´t be that DVD´s couldn t be read, but I'm not sure. That you have installed all the drivers?

  • How can I read data from my SQLite database?

    I am new to Adobe Air and am playing with creating something simple to insert data into a database and then display it. I was able to insert data successfully but now encounter difficulties to read from the database and display. How can I display data such as a text box or text box?

    This my code for insertion:

    private void sqlConn(dbName___tring,_dbstmt___tring,_dbInsert___tring):void
    {

    SQLs varQLStatement = new SQLStatement();
    SQLI varQLStatement = new SQLStatement();

    file: var folder = File.applicationDirectory;
    var dbPath:File = folder.resolvePath (dbName);

    sqlc.addEventListener (SQLEvent.OPEN, dbCreated);
    sqlc.addEventListener (SQLErrorEvent.ERROR, dbError);

    sqls.addEventListener (SQLEvent.RESULT, tbCreated);
    sqls.addEventListener (SQLErrorEvent.ERROR, tbError);

    sqli.addEventListener (SQLEvent.RESULT, recCreated);

    sqlc.openAsync (dbPath);

    sqls.sqlConnection = sqlc;
    SQLs. Text = dbstmt;
    SQLs. Execute();

    sqli.sqlConnection = sqlc;
    SQLI. Text = dbInsert;
    SQLI. Execute();
    }

    private void btn_Click (): void
    {
    dbName var= "test.db" tring
    var sqlStatmttring = "CREATE TABLE If NOT EXISTS test_table (id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, first_name TEXT, last_name TEXT);
    var sqlInserttring = 'INSERT test_table (first_name, last_name) VALUES('"+txtTaskName.text+"','"+txtTaskDescription.text+"');';
    var sqlReadtring = "SELECT * FROM test_table;"

    sqlConn (dbName, sqlStatmt, sqlInsert);
    }

    That's what I have so far to read the articles. Is this right? How can I use it to display items on one of my opinions?

    private void readItems(dbName___tring):void
    {
    var sqlrQLStatement = new SQLStatement();
    sqlC varQLConnection = new SqlConnection ();
    file: var folder = File.applicationDirectory;
    var dbPath:File = folder.resolvePath (dbName);

    sqlc.openAsync (dbPath);

    sqlr.addEventListener (SQLEvent.RESULT, recFound);
    sqlr.addEventListener (SQLErrorEvent.ERROR, recFoundError);

    sqlr.sqlConnection = sqlc;
    sqlr. Text = "SELECT * FROM test_table ';
    sqlr. Execute();

    Table of results: var = sqlr.getResult () .data;
    }

    Thank you

    They must be in their own class and each class must be in their own folder. If you need a taskClass.as file and a SQLClass in the SQLClass.as file that has the recFound function.

    DeepBlue is right. When you want to use the BT device, turn on WLAN card. After having done that, use the FN + F8 key combination to activate the BT module. The BT module will appear in the Device Manager.
