Satellite P10: Black screen after 5 min

Hi my name is colin, I have a laptop Toshiba P10 and I want to change my power settings IE.
My blanks high turn out after five minutes if I don't use a mouse but cannot change the settings because him pave is grayed out.
I use it for my karaoke but if a song is more than five minutes long white screen. Tapping mousepad restores.
Can someone please tell me what to do.

Thank you colin.

Hi Colin,

You must change the settings in the configuration of Toshiba Power not in the version of Microsoft.

You should see two options in 'Control Panel', but if you select install Microsoft then all options will be 'gray out' when you hover the mouse over them.

Toshiba power options should be also accessible from 'Control panel', but if not you can access it from "-> all programs.

Kind regards

  • Satellite M70 - black screen after the installation of recovery

So far, what I did is put in the Recovery DVD - ROM product. Then when my computer restarts I was invited to restore my computer failing and said. After that he went through this process, that he told me to remove the disc that I did. Now he only get a black screen after the Toshiba screen that gives me options f2 for Setup and f12 for options.

I don't know what to do now to make my laptop works again. Help, please.

    Hi Zach_1,

Have you tried to launch the installation of recovery again? Maybe that something was wrong during the first installation, it might have arrived
Then retry the recovery facility and see what happens.

If it doesn't work you should try a normal Microsoft disk so determine if the problem is related to hardware or recovery disk.

  • Satellite C650 - black screen after BIOS update

My Satellite C650 Windows 7 - won't start afte BIOS update / switch.

Everything worked very well until the automatic update of Toshiba asked me to download and install the new BIOS update, I did. At the same session Windows and McAfee asked updated. I agreed to all. After all updates have been installed, turns off. The next day when I walk, I see only black screen. I also tried F2, F12 and drive recovery. Nothing happens!

    Any recommendation?

    Hey,.

It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS and so that you can t the computer unbootable. But I put t understand why you did the BIOS update. If everything works correctly, you can forget about this update. More if you do a BIOS update you shouldn't t run any other updates or programs that might affect the update of the BIOS.

Anyway, in this case you can do nothing and you need professional help. Please contact an authorized service provider and guys can help you update the ROM module On the Web from Toshiba site, you can find a list of all the FSA:

    Good luck! :)

Generally screen should turn off, but the laptop must continue to work.

    Hi all,

I have a new problem on my U500.

My computer would 'lock' itself and would come to a black screen and nothing would respond. I see that the power light is still on but nothing. No screen saver is on. I have to hold the close button. This has happened 3 times.
Also my PC works slower abnormly normal do not think that there is a virus.

Note: I recently system restored my PC

    Thank you

    Hi Jaso444,

And now Windows isn t start over or what happens exactly, if you try to start your computer?

You use the preinstalled version of Windows 7 in Toshiba?

  • Satellite P10: black screen - single led light

My laptop has given me a few problems:
Problem 1 = does not recognize blank DVDs so I can't burn
Cure - bought an external drive

Problem 2 = off work even if usb ports said troubleshooting fine them, searched several tips & followed various procedures but none works
Address - only able to buy & use devices compatible firewire

Problem 3 = my bloody lighting does not work!

When I start my leds are lit and fans walk but my screen is completely black.

If I'm really, really close to my screen I can pretty much makeout my screen name, log, (hear intro to windows xp) & makeout at roughly the icons on my desktop.

I searched the forum, but found knowone with this problem or a cure for it.

Are all their technicians hear who can offer advice?
    It would be much appreciated!

It s very sad to hear this
Problem 3 seems to be a Fl inverter or display malfunction.
Have you tried to connect the external monitor to the laptop?
Check if something will appear on the second monitor and use the FN + F5 option for switching between display devices.

Problem 2; something like this might occur because the external USB devices were not disconnected safely. In this case, you must remove the USB ports on the Device Manager. After the new specifications to restart the operating system will recognize the ports automatically. For the most part this procedure should help.

Problem 1; This could be a calibration error. Whenever the lens must be calibrated to read or write media. If the lens cannot be calibrates the drive is not able to manage the CD or the DVD.

  • Re: Satellite L40 - black screen after BIOS update

    Hello world

I have exactly the same problem, as shown here:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-euro...ThreadId=35156

My laptop is a Satellite L40 - 150 (model PSL48E) it came with Vista and BIOS version 1.60

I updated the BIOS to version 5.50, because I wanted to install Windows XP. The BIOS update process went well and the computer restarted automatically. After the reboot, I entered the BIOS (by pressing the F2 key). I pressed F9 to load the default settings and you exit the BIOS, saving the changes.

Restarting the laptop and the screen is now completely empty. Nothing appears in it.

I tried to remove and then reinsert the RAM modules, but it did not help.

So, I guess the only option is to return the laptop to a service center?

Why Toshiba do that? They are this deliberately or what?

    Kind regards.

    Hello

I put t agree with Leolo and put I t too agree with you.
The point is that there are tow updated BIOS for the L40.
    One for Win XP and one for Win Vista;
But the two BONES work on with the two BIOS but some functions such as the FN buttons wouldn't work if you n t use good BIOS for the good OS.

The BIOS on the Toshiba page is not defective. But of course, it is always possible that something will go wrong during the BIOS update procedure because the BISO update is always risky!

One of my friends has updated the BIOS on this laptop and everything went well!

You can start the laptop properly using the old modules?
If Yes, then the new memory should be replaced by another.

  • Satellite L755D: black screen after startup or switching of external monitor

I have a strange problem with my Satellite L755D. I normally use an external monitor that works very well.

If I want to switch to the laptops monitor using Fn + F5, the laptop monitor remains dark, but you can see (more guessing) office.

Just the bright background lights. Same thing if I boot without the external monitor. In the beginning (phase BIOS?), you can see the normal symbols, then the screen turns to.

Funny, is that these two problems do not appear when I cut the power supply and the laptop runs on battery only.
Any ideas, what the reason could be?

    Thank you
    Mason

Funny, is that these two problems do not appear when I cut the power supply and the laptop runs on battery only.

Maybe you should check the configuration of power plan that is used only in battery mode.
It might be possible that the backlight settings have been set at a lower value by using the power of the battery.
I recommend you to check this in the ATI catalyst and windows power options.

  • Satellite L500 - black screen after a reboot manual or automatic

    Hello world

This has me frustrated for three weeks, but I only just realized it is associated with manual restart or software required.

My old 6 week L500 laptop refuses display different lights for indiactors on AV - no light on the keyboard, no screen, the fan runs but no disk activity I can hear.
I managed to drill three times by forcing tap down using the switch hold down, removing battery wait and then start up.

Earlier today, she decided to put on according to this method, and I was able to quickly jump in and empty my libraries and outlook.pst to a cause external hard drive my business she runs.

Anyone know a solution to this problem?
It's the first Toshiba that I have ever owned, and it's really frustrating to have to launch this 4 year old Acer to find a solution to my problem.

Maybe the problem is Windows 7 but cannot find my way through this place to a response.

    Anyone, please?

    Hello

You mean the L500 is not unbootable?
Solution remove the battery and ac adapter doesn't help more?

Hmm generally this should not happen sometimes the laptop could hang somewhere in the standby or hibernation and the mentioned workaround solution might be an option to wake up the unit

It is difficult to say what's going wrong here possibly it s hardware related issue
So perhaps it would be best contacting the local ASP the guarantee must be valid and I think that everything should be done for free

    Hello

You can access the BIOS by pressing F2?

  • Re: Satellite L675-10 t black screen after disassembly problem

    Hi all

I recently had some problems with my L675-10T overheating, even when I was with a big fan of cooling for the games.

I realized that the problem resulted from blocked exhaust and dust and it is why, after reading and watching the many tutorials, I opened my laptop computer successfully and all cleaned up.

The temperature dropped to 20 c and I was happy.

The next night, however, took my laptop and headed for the living room, and it will stop.
Black screen and nothing passed. So I ran to the internet and found this solution, it worked btw.

    1. turn off your computer
    2. unplug all wires (including energy)
    3. disconnect the battery from the bottom of the computer.
4 re - connect the power cable. (the battery should not be in the computer)
    5. turn power on. The screen works. Choose start windows normally. (if you get this screen)

The thing is, the same thing happened to me this morning as well.
Twice in 2 days and im a little worried I did something wrong during Assembly of the laptop or something. Any ideas? Or do I keep accountant with the above solution?
Looks like a mess of power upwards of sorts.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I assume that this question has not happened before you have disassembled the laptop. Right?
To be honest this similar issue happened to me to. The portable light not (black screen) after I'm entered in the mode 'sleep'. However, this happened only once

It s hard to tell why this happened to you it of not impossible that you have damaged something for disassembled the procedure.

However, the fact is that the warranty is not valid more because you opened the laptop. That is why any approach (especially parts replacement) to solve this problem would cost money.
So ultimately it s your decision: a technician visit to downtown to see the pieces of equipment or keep your stay with the workaround mentioned above.

  • Black screen after startup - Satellite A105-S4334

It gives me black screen after the display of the logo just after the appearance of the cursor and nothing I can do except hold the button 'Disable' of windows, and then restart again, it shows the menu to make it start in safe mode... network mode... normally or lastest know good windows start...

When he starts for the second time it works very well, he does it all the time and now I'm reinstalling windows for the 2nd time (factory State) any solution or explanation for that matter?

    Hello

It is not easy to say why this is happening. Have you standing connected an external device, such as USB, printer or something similar?

  • Satellite P200D - black screen and does not just by running

    Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Satellite P200D - 107 PSPBLE with configuration set-aside:

    Processor: Turion x 2 TL - 52 64-bit clocked at 1.6 Ghz
    Display: 17.3 inch
Graphics card: Ati radeon x 1200
    RAM: 2 x 512 MB ram (1 GB total) which I upgraded to 1 x 2000 MB and 1 x 512 MB (for a total of 2.5 GB)
OS: FACTORY CD WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32-BIT
Power: Running on the direct power without the battery cable

Although the pc is quite old sound fundamentally new barely there 1 year of normal use on it.

    PROBLEM:

The screen goes black (no), even if the screen still has the backlight running, the laptop is still under tension, but its basically in a kind of deep hibernation with the fan running yet.
The laptop screen turns off 5-10 minutes after windows loads, even if in idle, it also stops during installation of the operating system.
I tried to run the music and the music stops when the screen goes black made all the hard disk activity which I believe indicates that it is not related to the video chip.

    TRIED SO FAR:

    1. open up the computer laptop and cleaned all dust processor, now CPU temp is 50 max, even for hard disk
    2. update the bios to the original to 1.70 - did not help
3 connected external monitor also stops it the same time as the laptop screen indicating it is not not a screen issue
    4 reinstall OS several times
5 tested memory with memtest64 - no error
    6. test the hard drive with hddregenerator - no error

    What I've noticed:

If I leave just a 512 MB of ram in the laptop then the laptop stops not at all even in windows applications, tried to launch a game to remove video card and it works without problem for hours, but as soon as I add the stick of 2 GB or another origianal 512 stick it will go inside the black screen 5-10 min (or earlier) to get into windows.

He never stops in dos mode (as in memtest, hddregen) even with 2.5 GB of ram.

After that the screen goes black, if I stopped and then try to save, it it won't work at all, the screen stays black with the fan spinning and boot CD, I must absolutely disconect the power cord power and re - set before it starts again.

Anyone has any ideas, I am experienced with the pc, but have never stumbled upon something so weird that I have just can't explain this problem that came straight from heaven.

Toshiba to wake up, this forum is a total joke, you would think that you would be able to afford hiring a bunch of technicians to actually help people rather than rely on the users of the forum to do your work for your, you don't need to have a forum, if you don't have the staff to actually help people solve their problems.
